[Playful orchestral music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In an animation, Posy, a brown-haired mouse, steps forward.
POSY: Pip!
DESCRIPTION: Pip, a grey-haired rabbit, steps forward.
PIP: Posy!
[Both giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip and Posy grab each other’s hands and dance together. Pip wears a long-sleeved white-and-green striped shirt and jeans. Posy wears a blue-and-red T-shirt with a blue-and-white polka-dot skirt. Pip carries Posy on his back. Posy tosses her toy frog, Froggy, high in the air. She catches Froggy as Pip’s toy pig, Piggy, lands in Pip’s hand.
PIP: Oh!
[Both giggle]
POSY: Come on!
BOTH SAY: Let’s play!
[Both giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip and Posy run together.
[Title] Pip and Posy.
[Sand rustles, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In a sandbox, Posy lifts an upside-down cast-shaped bucket, revealing a castle sandcastle.
POSY: Slowly...Slowly...Slowly... Yes, it's perfect!
[Bucket clunks]
DESCRIPTION: She throws the bucket to her left. On her right, Pip pats a sandcastle.
PIP: Oh, good one, Posy. Zac, have you done yours?
ZAC: Err... not exactly. I buried my legs!
[Pip and Posy laugh]
DESCRIPTION: Zac lies in the middle of the sandbox, buried up to his tummy in sand. Pip and Posy stand and look at him.
POSY: You look a little bit like a mermaid!
ZAC: Oh, yeah!
ZAC SINGS: La la la la la!
[Thump, Pip giggles, gasps]
PIP: I know! Let's make it look like a real mermaid's tail!
POSY: Okay!
[Thumps]
DESCRIPTION: Pip and Posy add sand at the bottom of the pile over Zac, creating flippers.
PIP: Posy, here, I need more sand for the flippery bit.
POSY: More sand! Whoop!
[Thumps, everyone giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Posy puts more sand on Pip’s side of the tail and pats it.
ZAC: Ooh!
[Thumps, everyone giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Pip and Posy add more sand, then stand. Posy spreads her arms wide.
POSY: Ta-da!
[The music stops]
ZAC: It's great! And a bit itchy.
[Pip and Posy giggle]
POSY: Ooh! Ooh! Imagine if it was covered in beautiful scales.
PIP: Oh, scales are shiny.
[Gasps, rustle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip puts a pebble on the mermaid's tail.
PIP: Like this. Plonk!
[Rustle]
DESCRIPTION: Posy picks up a red leaf.
POSY: Oh, and they're different colours, like this.
[Giggles, leaf crinkles]
DESCRIPTION: Posy puts the leaf beside the pebble.
POSY: Plonk!
[Posy gasps]
POSY: Let's decorate Zac's whole tail!
[Posy giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Posy and Pip run away from Zac.
PIP: Oh, yeah!
ZAC: Oh! Um, what do I do?
[Rustle]
DESCRIPTION: Posy stops at the edge of the sandbox and turns to Zac.
POSY: Sit really still, like a statue.
[Posy giggles, birds sing]
ZAC: Sit still? But that's so boring! Ugh!
[Thud, upbeat music plays, Pip and Posy giggle, leaves crunch.]
DESCRIPTION: Zac falls back on the sand. Pip picks up pebbles, and Posy collects leaves around small tree stumps near the edge of the sandbox.
PIP: Ooh! Oh!
[Posy gasps, giggles, leaf crinkles]
DESCRIPTION: Posy picks up a leaf. Pip places pebbles on the mermaid's tail.
PIP: Pebbly, pebbly!
[Posy giggles, leaves crinkle]
DESCRIPTION: Posy puts leaves on the tail.
POSY: Leafy, leafy, leaf!
[Pip laughs, leaf rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Pip flicks a leaf towards Posy.
PIP: Bloop!
[Posy laughs]
POSY: Hey!
ZAC: Huh? Have you finished now?
POSY: Er, nope! Still some empty spots.
PIP: Come on! Bet I'll find more scales than you!
[Both laugh]
DESCRIPTION: Pip and Posy run away from Zac.
ZAC: But...
[Zac sighs, thud, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Zac falls back on the sand and stares at the sky with his arms out to his sides. He taps his cheeks.
ZAC SINGS: Bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop ♪
[Upbeat music plays, footsteps rustle]
DESCRIPTION: Nearby, Pip collects pebbles on a dirt path.
PIP: Oh.
[He gasps]
PIP: Ahh...
[He giggles, leaves crinkle]
DESCRIPTION: Posy gathers fallen leaves beneath a tree.
POSY: Yellow...Brown...Red...
[She gasps, squeals]
POSY: Aah! A baby greenie!
[Zac yawns]
DESCRIPTION: In the sandbox, Zac shuts his eyes. Pip kneels beside him with a handful of pebbles.
PIP: Look at these, Zac!
ZAC: Huh? Ooh, pebbly!
PIP: A round one, a triangle one, an "I don't know what shape that is" one.
[Posy pants]
DESCRIPTION: Posy runs back to the sandbox.
POSY: I'm back!
[Giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Posy stops and looks down at the mermaid's tail.
POSY: Hey! Where-- where are my leaves?
[The music stops]
PIP: Oh. Um, that's funny.
POSY: Uh, did-- did you move them?
PIP: Me? No. I just got here.
POSY: Hmm...Did you see anything?
ZAC: Um, no, apart from a funny cloud.
[Pip giggles]
PIP: It's a mystery.
[Rustle, soft notes play]
DESCRIPTION: Posy stares at Pip, then kneels beside the mermaid's tail and puts her leaves on the sand.
POSY: Okay... I'll put these down instead.
PIP: Still need a tiny bit more.
POSY: Um, Zac, can you keep watch? I don't want any of my leaves going missing again.
DESCRIPTION: Posy glances at Pip, and he stops smiling. Zac salutes Posy.
ZAC: You can count on me!
[Upbeat music plays, Posy giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Pip watches Posy run away from Zac.
PIP: Hmm...
DESCRIPTION: Pip walks in the other direction.
[Zac yawns, thud, snorts, snorts, grass rustles, Pip gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Zac falls back on the sand and naps. An ant scurries up the mermaid's tail, looks at him, then runs away. Nearby, Pip finds a pebble in the grass.
PIP: Whoa! Shiniest scaly yet!
[Pip giggles, grass rustles, Zac snores, Pip gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Pip runs back to Zac, napping and discovers only the small green leaf left on the tail.
PIP: What?!
[Leaf crinkle, Posy gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Pip kneels and picks up the green leaf as Posy arrives.
POSY: I knew it! It was you!
DESCRIPTION: Posy points at Pip, and Zac awakens and sits up.
ZAC: Aah! Wha...? I wasn't sleeping!
POSY: What did you do with my leaves?
PIP: Nothing! It wasn't me, Posy, I promise!
POSY: Who else could it have been? Zac can't move!
ZAC: That's true.
[Rustle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip stands, holding the green leaf.
PIP: I don't know where they've gone, but I'm telling the truth! You believe me, don't you?
[Leaves crinkle, upbeat music plays, birds chirp]
DESCRIPTION: Posy kneels and puts her leaves on the mermaid's tail.
POSY: Hmph!
[Pip sighs, rustle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip puts his pebble on the mermaid's tail, and Posy looks at it.
POSY: Hmm...Um...
POSY SINGS: Dum-de-dum!
POSY: I'm just going to get some more scales. Back in a bit!
[Footsteps rustle, birds sing, Pip sighs]
DESCRIPTION: Posy runs away.
PIP: I'll go get more pebbles, then.
[Posy giggles, Zac smacks his lips, yawns, thud, Zac snores, leaves rustle, bright music notes play, Posy gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Pip walks away from Zac and hides behind a nearby tree. Zac falls onto the sand and falls asleep. Leaves move on the mermaid's tail, and Posy runs to the sandbox.
POSY: Caught you!
DESCRIPTION: Zac awakens.
ZAC: Wha...? What?!
POSY: Huh?
[Posy gasps, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Ants carry the leaves across the sand, leaving little footprint divots in the mermaid's tail.
POSY: Zac, look!
ZAC: Whoa!
[Posy giggles]
POSY: It's the ants! They're taking my leaves!
[Posy gasps]
POSY: And I kept blaming...
[Footsteps rustle, Pip gasps]
PIP: Posy, your leaves!
DESCRIPTION: Pip runs back to the sandbox. They've gone, gone again!
POSY: I know! Look!
[Pip gasps]
PIP: Ants! Wow! So, they took the leaves!
POSY: Yeah. Oh, Pip, I'm sorry I didn't believe you.
PIP: That's okay. But who could have guessed? Ants!
[Posy giggles, Zac gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Zac points at the small divots in the sand on the mermaid's tail.
ZAC: Ooh! Swirly patterns!
POSY: Wow! They're nicer decorations than leaves.
PIP: And pebbles.
POSY: Shall we make some more?
[Upbeat music continues, pebbles tap, leaves rustle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip picks up the pebbles. He and Posy gather leaves and drop them on Zac.
BOTH: Whoop!
[Zac giggles]
ZAC: Oof!
[Leaves rustle, Pip and Posy giggle]
DESCRIPTION: The ants carry the leaves away, leaving more divots in the sand. An ant pulls on a large red leaf, and Posy takes it away. Pip gives the ant a smaller green leaf. Posy tickles Pip’s nose with the red leaf. Zac looks down at the swirling divots on the sand mermaid's tail.
ZAC: Whoa!
PIP: Zac, you look great!
POSY: You're the most beautiful mermaid ever!
[Both giggle]
ZAC: I know! Err...But can I get up now? I really need a wee.
BOTH: Oh!
[Both giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip and Posy pull Zac’s arms.
