DESCRIPTION: Leaves fall from trees as a woman pushes a stroller past Jared’s shop.
GRAN GRAN NARRATES: It was an autumn day. The leaves were changing colour and falling from the trees, and Jojo and Gran Gran-- that's me-- were buying ingredients in Jared's shop.
DESCRIPTION: In the shop, Gran Gran and JoJo stand beside a fruit and vegetable display. Gran Gran puts a container in her shopping basket, and JoJo looks at a notepad.
GRAN GRAN: Okay. What's next?
[JoJo giggles]
[List Text Reads] Sugar, butter, vanilla, eggs, flour.
JOJO: I can't read it, Gran Gran.
[Gran Gran laughs]
GRAN GRAN: Oh. It says, "Flour." And then we'll have everything we need to make our biscuits.
[JoJo squees, door squeaks, clicks, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Jared opens a door behind the counter and walks to a puddle on the floor. He puts down a yellow caution sign with a picture of a figure slipping on a puddle.
JARED: Did somebody say, "biscuits?"
JOJO: Jared!
JARED: Hey, Jojo! Gran Gran!
GRAN GRAN: Hi, Jared!
JARED: Oh, careful. I've just finished mopping the floor. It's a bit slippery.
[Hands slap]
DESCRIPTION: JoJo and Jared do a special handshake that involves slapping their hands together, fist-bumping, and a high five.
[The music stops]
JOJO: What's this, Jared? It looks like somebody dancing.
[Jared laughs]
JARED: It does, a bit.
[Gran Gran laughs]
GRAN GRAN: But what are they standing on?
[Light music plays]
JOJO: Oh! It's a slippery puddle.
GRAN GRAN: Yes.
JARED: So, this sign lets all my customers know that the floor is still wet and slippery.
JOJO: That's very clever.
GRAN GRAN: There are signs everywhere, Jojo.
JOJO: Can we look for some?
GRAN GRAN: Oh, of course.
[JoJo squees, upbeat music plays]

[Whoosh, the music ends, footsteps patter]

JOJO: Where are the signs, Gran Gran?
GRAN GRAN: They're all around us. Let's play a game and see how many signs we can spot.
DESCRIPTION: They stop at a crosswalk painted on the road.
JOJO: Oh, a zebra crossing! Is that a sign, too?
[Car brakes squeak]
DESCRIPTION: A black car stops at the crosswalk.
GRAN GRAN: It is, a very big sign, and it tells drivers that they need to slow down and stop to let us cross the road.
JOJO: I wish there was a panda crossing.
[Both laugh, footsteps patter, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: They hold hands and cross the road. In front a park entrance, JoJo and Gran Gran stop by a sign showing a person digging. Gran Gran holds Panda, and JoJo imitates digging.
GRAN GRAN: Roadworks.
[Jackhammer bangs]
DESCRIPTION: On the street, a worker breaks pavement with a jackhammer as a second worker digs a hole. JoJo and Gran Gran stop in front of a shop window with an image of a pair of scissors on the glass.
JOJO: The hairdressers'.
[Both laugh]
DESCRIPTION: Both hold their fingers apart like scissors and pretend to cut their hair. JoJo pretends to cut Panda’s hair.
[Jojo giggles, click]
DESCRIPTION: At an intersection, JoJo runs to a pole and pushes a button to cross.
GRAN GRAN: Push the button, Jojo, and wait for the sign to go green.
[Beep]
DESCRIPTION: A walk sign and a bicycle sign change from red to green, and Gran Gran and JoJo cross the street. They stand with Ned and Monty on the sidewalk by a playground fence. JoJo points to a sign with a red line through a dog shape.
JOJO: Sorry, Monty. No dogs.
[Monty whimpers, pants, Jojo gasps]
DESCRIPTION: JoJo pets Monty. She and Gran Gran wait by a bus stop, and JoJo points at a sign on a pole.
JOJO: Bus stop!
[Bus brakes hiss]
DESCRIPTION: The bus arrives, and they board. In front of Gran Gran’s fence, a green bin has a recycling symbol.
JOJO: Recycling!
[Whoosh]
DESCRIPTION: JoJo drops a wrapper in the bin. Inside the house, she sits at the kitchen table, and Gran Gran stands beside her, near an open book.
JOJO: We spotted lots of signs.
[Pages rustle]
DESCRIPTION: Gran Gran turns a page in the book.
GRAN GRAN: They really are everywhere. Now, where is the recipe for biscuits? Ah, here we are.
JOJO: Hmm.
GRAN GRAN: What's wrong, Jojo?
JOJO: There are no pictures! I can't see what we need to do.
[Triumphant music plays]
GRAN GRAN: Hmm. I think it's time for a Gran Gran plan. Why don't we make our own signs for each stage of the recipe?
[JoJo laughs]
JOJO: Yay!
[Whoosh, upbeat music plays, scissors snip]
DESCRIPTION: JoJo draws a picture of the ingredients. Gran Gran cuts out pictures of the ingredients and the steps and attaches them to a piece of paper. The steps show stirring the dough, putting it in the fridge for 10 minutes, cutting shapes, baking for 10 minutes, and finally, the biscuits.
GRAN GRAN: Let's wash our hands and get started.
[Water splashes]
DESCRIPTION: Gran Gran and JoJo wash their hands. JoJo points at the first picture.
JOJO: We need to put the butter and sugar into the bowl and mix it with the wooden spoon.
GRAN GRAN: Let's do it!
[Knife clinks]
DESCRIPTION: Gran Gran cuts butter on a plate and slides some into the bowl, then adds sugar. JoJo points to a picture of a breaking egg and a bottle of vanilla extract. Gran Gran adds the ingredients to the bowl and pours in flour. She stirs the dough, refrigerates it, and cuts shapes.
[Whoosh]
GRAN GRAN: What now, Chef Jojo?
DESCRIPTION: JoJo points at a drawing of the oven and the tray of biscuits.
JOJO: Hmm. The biscuits go in the oven. How long for?
GRAN GRAN: Ten minutes.
[Tray clatters, door bangs]
DESCRIPTION: Gran Gran puts the biscuits in the oven.
GRAN GRAN: I'll put the biscuits into the oven.
JOJO: And I will get the timer.
[Timer creaks, eggs splat, light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: JoJo sets the timer and knocks an egg carton off the table.
JOJO: Oh, no!
[Gran Gran gasps]
GRAN GRAN: It's okay, Jojo. Accidents happen. I'll get the mop, and we can clean this up while the biscuits bake.
JOJO: I think I know what we need, Gran Gran.
(Mop rustles, JoJo hums, upbeat music plays, mop squelches, tap]
DESCRIPTION: Gran Gran mops the floor as JoJo draws. JoJo puts a drawing of a person slipping on a puddle beside the wet spot on the floor.
JOJO: Our own wet floor sign.
GRAN GRAN: Oh, good idea, Jojo.
JOJO: No slipping, Panda.
[Timer ticks, alarm rings]
GRAN GRAN: The biscuits are ready!
[JoJo laughs]
JOJO: Yay!
[Whoosh, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: JoJo hugs Panda. Later, in Jared’s shop, Jared stands at the counter. Gran Gran follows JoJo, carrying a container.
JARED: Hey! My favourite bakers are back.
JOJO: Where has your wet floor sign gone?
[Jared laughs]
JARED: I don't need it anymore. The floor's dried, so I've put it away in the cupboard.
[Light music plays, container rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Gran Gran gives the container to JoJo, who opens it and shows Jared iced biscuits decorated to look like road signs.
JOJO: We finished making our biscuits.
JARED: Wow. Biscuits with signs!
JOJO: Would you like one, Jared?
[Jared chuckles]
JARED: Oh, yes, please!
[Gasps]
JARED: A wet floor sign! Such a cool biscuit! Thanks, Jojo. Mmm.
DESCRIPTION: Everybody eats a biscuit.
GRAN GRAN: Mmm.
JOJO: Mmm, mmm.
[Whoosh, upbeat music plays, vehicle engine whooshes]
DESCRIPTION: In live-action, a boy with short brown hair holds his brown-haired mummy’s hand as they walk across a bridge.
BOY NARRATES: I'm going on a walk with my mummy to spot some signs.
DESCRIPTION: The boy points at a yield sign with the shape of two children in the centre.
BOY: Mummy, look. There's one.
BOY’S MUMMY: Oh, yes, it is, and what can you see on that?
BOY: I can see children.
[Birds chirp]
BOY NARRATES: It means children might be crossing the road.

MUMMY: Should we go and find another one?
[Vehicle engine whooshes]
BOY: Yes!
MUMMY: Come on, then.

BOY NARRATES: Signs are everywhere and can tell us something using pictures.

BOY: Mummy, look. There's one.
MUMMY: Oh, yes. What can you see on that?

DESCRIPTION: A car drives over a bump on the road.
BOY: It's got a hump on the road. It means there's humps on the road because cars need to slow down.
DESCRIPTION: The boy points to a round red sign with a white bar across the middle.
BOY: Look. There's one.
MUMMY: What shape is that one?
BOY: It's a circle.
BOY NARRATES: This is a no-entry sign, so drivers can't go down this road.
DESCRIPTION: A garbage bin features a graphic of a person dropping garbage into it.
BOY: There's one.
MUMMY: Oh, yeah. What can you see?
BOY: I can see a person putting rubbish in the bin.
BOY NARRATES: Signs keep people safe when crossing the road.
[Click, beeps]
DESCRIPTION: The boy pushes a button at an intersection and waits for the traffic light to show a green pedestrian. He holds his mummy’s hand, and they cross together.
BOY NARRATES: I push the button and wait for the sign to go green. It's telling us, once the traffic has stopped, it's safe to cross.
[Beep]
BOY NARRATES: Signs also tell us about places we can visit.
BOY’S MUMMY: What can you see on that sign, Hugo?
DESCRIPTION: She points at a brown sign with a picture of a boat.
BOY: A canal boat.
BOY NARRATES: This sign tells us there's boat trips nearby.
DESCRIPTION: The boy, Hugo, holds his mummy’s hand on the sidewalk.
HUGO’S MUMMY: Now, we just need to find one more sign so we can get home. Can you spot it?
DESCRIPTION: Hugo stops and points at a bus sign.
HUGO: Yeah. Bus stop sign.
HUGO’S MUMMY: Yay!
DESCRIPTION: They sit on a bench in a bus shelter.
HUGO: We love spotting signs.

DESCRIPTION: Back in Gran Gran’s kitchen, JoJo draws as Gran Gran puts the biscuit container on the table.
JOJO: Making biscuits with signs was fun, Gran Gran.

GRAN GRAN: I'll keep this sign safe for the next time we have a spill.
JOJO: I have one more sign for you.

DESCRIPTION: Gran Gran picks JoJo up.

JOJO: Sorry, Monty. No dogs.
[Monty whimpers, pants, Jojo gasps]
DESCRIPTION: JoJo pets Monty. She and Gran Gran wait by a bus stop, and JoJo points at a sign on a pole.
JOJO: Bus stop!
[Bus brakes hiss]
DESCRIPTION: The bus arrives, and they board. In front of Gran Gran’s fence, a green bin has a recycling symbol.
JOJO: Recycling!
[Whoosh]
DESCRIPTION: JoJo drops a wrapper in the bin. Inside the house, she sits at the kitchen table, and Gran Gran stands beside her, near an open book.
JOJO: We spotted lots of signs.
[Pages rustle]
DESCRIPTION: Gran Gran turns a page in the book.
GRAN GRAN: They really are everywhere. Now, where is the recipe for biscuits? Ah, here we are.
JOJO: Hmm.
GRAN GRAN: What's wrong, Jojo?
JOJO: There are no pictures! I can't see what we need to do.
[Triumphant music plays]
GRAN GRAN: Hmm. I think it's time for a Gran Gran plan. Why don't we make our own signs for each stage of the recipe?
[JoJo laughs]
JOJO: Yay!
[Whoosh, upbeat music plays, scissors snip]
DESCRIPTION: JoJo draws a picture of the ingredients. Gran Gran cuts out pictures of the ingredients and the steps and attaches them to a piece of paper. The steps show stirring the dough, putting it in the fridge for 10 minutes, cutting shapes, baking for 10 minutes, and finally, the biscuits.
GRAN GRAN: Let's wash our hands and get started.
[Water splashes]
DESCRIPTION: Gran Gran and JoJo wash their hands. JoJo points at the first picture.
JOJO: We need to put the butter and sugar into the bowl and mix it with the wooden spoon.
GRAN GRAN: Let's do it!
[Knife clinks]
DESCRIPTION: Gran Gran cuts butter on a plate and slides some into the bowl, then adds sugar. JoJo points to a picture of a breaking egg and a bottle of vanilla extract. Gran Gran adds the ingredients to the bowl and pours in flour. She stirs the dough, refrigerates it, and cuts shapes.
[Whoosh]
GRAN GRAN: What now, Chef Jojo?
DESCRIPTION: JoJo points at a drawing of the oven and the tray of biscuits.
JOJO: Hmm. The biscuits go in the oven. How long for?
GRAN GRAN: Ten minutes.
[Tray clatters, door bangs]
DESCRIPTION: Gran Gran puts the biscuits in the oven.
GRAN GRAN: I'll put the biscuits into the oven.
JOJO: And I will get the timer.
[Timer creaks, eggs splat, light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: JoJo sets the timer and knocks an egg carton off the table.
JOJO: Oh, no!
[Gran Gran gasps]
GRAN GRAN: It's okay, Jojo. Accidents happen. I'll get the mop, and we can clean this up while the biscuits bake.
JOJO: I think I know what we need, Gran Gran.
(Mop rustles, JoJo hums, upbeat music plays, mop squelches, tap]
DESCRIPTION: Gran Gran mops the floor as JoJo draws. JoJo puts a drawing of a person slipping on a puddle beside the wet spot on the floor.
JOJO: Our own wet floor sign.
GRAN GRAN: Oh, good idea, Jojo.
JOJO: No slipping, Panda.
[Timer ticks, alarm rings]
GRAN GRAN: The biscuits are ready!
[JoJo laughs]
JOJO: Yay!
[Whoosh, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: JoJo hugs Panda. Later, in Jared’s shop, Jared stands at the counter. Gran Gran follows JoJo, carrying a container.
JARED: Hey! My favourite bakers are back.
JOJO: Where has your wet floor sign gone?
[Jared laughs]
JARED: I don't need it anymore. The floor's dried, so I've put it away in the cupboard.
[Light music plays, container rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Gran Gran gives the container to JoJo, who opens it and shows Jared iced biscuits decorated to look like road signs.
JOJO: We finished making our biscuits.
JARED: Wow. Biscuits with signs!
JOJO: Would you like one, Jared?
[Jared chuckles]
JARED: Oh, yes, please!
[Gasps]
JARED: A wet floor sign! Such a cool biscuit! Thanks, Jojo. Mmm.
DESCRIPTION: Everybody eats a biscuit.
GRAN GRAN: Mmm.
JOJO: Mmm, mmm.
[Whoosh, upbeat music plays, vehicle engine whooshes]
DESCRIPTION: In live-action, a boy with short brown hair holds his brown-haired mummy’s hand as they walk across a bridge.
BOY NARRATES: I'm going on a walk with my mummy to spot some signs.
DESCRIPTION: The boy points at a yield sign with the shape of two children in the centre.
BOY: Mummy, look. There's one.
BOY’S MUMMY: Oh, yes, it is, and what can you see on that?
BOY: I can see children.
[Birds chirp]
BOY NARRATES: It means children might be crossing the road.
BOY’S MUMMY: And what shape is the sign?
BOY: It's a triangle.
MUMMY: Should we go and find another one?
[Vehicle engine whooshes]
BOY: Yes!
MUMMY: Come on, then.
DESCRIPTION: A blue sign features a white upward-pointing arrow. A yield sign features a traffic light, and a second yield sign features a horse and rider.
BOY NARRATES: Signs are everywhere and can tell us something using pictures.
[Vehicle engine whooshes, birds sing]
DESCRIPTION: A yield sign features a bump.
BOY: Mummy, look. There's one.
MUMMY: Oh, yes. What can you see on that?
[Vehicle engine whooshes]
DESCRIPTION: A car drives over a bump on the road.
BOY: It's got a hump on the road. It means there's humps on the road because cars need to slow down.
DESCRIPTION: The boy points to a round red sign with a white bar across the middle.
BOY: Look. There's one.
MUMMY: What shape is that one?
BOY: It's a circle.
BOY NARRATES: This is a no-entry sign, so drivers can't go down this road.
DESCRIPTION: A garbage bin features a graphic of a person dropping garbage into it.
BOY: There's one.
MUMMY: Oh, yeah. What can you see?
BOY: I can see a person putting rubbish in the bin.
BOY NARRATES: Signs keep people safe when crossing the road.
[Click, beeps]
DESCRIPTION: The boy pushes a button at an intersection and waits for the traffic light to show a green pedestrian. He holds his mummy’s hand, and they cross together.
BOY NARRATES: I push the button and wait for the sign to go green. It's telling us, once the traffic has stopped, it's safe to cross.
[Beep]
BOY NARRATES: Signs also tell us about places we can visit.
BOY’S MUMMY: What can you see on that sign, Hugo?
DESCRIPTION: She points at a brown sign with a picture of a boat.
BOY: A canal boat.
BOY NARRATES: This sign tells us there's boat trips nearby.
DESCRIPTION: The boy, Hugo, holds his mummy’s hand on the sidewalk.
HUGO’S MUMMY: Now, we just need to find one more sign so we can get home. Can you spot it?
DESCRIPTION: Hugo stops and points at a bus sign.
HUGO: Yeah. Bus stop sign.
HUGO’S MUMMY: Yay!
DESCRIPTION: They sit on a bench in a bus shelter.
HUGO: We love spotting signs.
[Whoosh, upbeat music plays, container taps]
DESCRIPTION: Back in Gran Gran’s kitchen, JoJo draws as Gran Gran puts the biscuit container on the table.
JOJO: Making biscuits with signs was fun, Gran Gran.
[Gran Gran laughs]
DESCRIPTION: Gran Gran holds JoJo’s drawing of a slippery floor sign.
GRAN GRAN: I'll keep this sign safe for the next time we have a spill.
JOJO: I have one more sign for you.
DESCRIPTION: JoJo shows Gran Gran a sign with the two of them and Panda, with hearts floating over their heads.
GRAN GRAN: Oh!
DESCRIPTION: Gran Gran picks JoJo up.
JOJO: It means I love you, Gran Gran.
[Gran Gran laughs]
GRAN GRAN: Aw. I love you, too, Jojo.
DESCRIPTION: They hug.
[Gentle, uplifting music plays]
