The Woolly says, Wait For It.
“Written by Andrew Shenkman.” “Storyboard by Louise Mendoche.”
On the playroom floor, Marco and Lila kneel in front of a cardboard theatre, with red curtains and Woollys drawn on it in crayon. On the blue wall behind the theatre is a sun, clouds, and a tree made out of clay. Marco points to pictures in a picture book.
Marco says, POPIPO AND ROPIPO WERE CAMPING, BUT THEY FORGOT TO BRING THEIR TOYS.
Lila says, HAHA! THAT'S NOT THE STORY!
Marco says, YES, IT IS… IT'S THE STORY I'M READING!
Lila says, YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO READ, MARCO!
Marco says, I KNOW...BUT LEARNING TAKES SO LONG!
Lila closes the book.
Lila says, WELL, IN THE MEANTIME, WHY NOT INVENT A WOOLLY STORY?
Marco says, GREAT IDEA! MY STORY WILL HAVE... PIROUETTE, JOSIE, WILLY, BEEBEE...
Marco places the Woollys in a pile.
Lila says, OKAY. AND WE'LL NEED A WOWIEWOO, SO OUR ADVENTURE CAN BE MORE… WOO!
Lila adds a yellow cup to the pile.
Lila takes the cardboard theatre and sets it onto the pile. The red curtains open and transport the Woollys into Woollywood, an imaginary, whimsical world made of wool. The sun shines brightly in the blue sky. Claudine, the treehouse sits on top of rolling green hills, and Willy is asleep at the bottom of the hill.
Marco narrates, IT WAS A PEACEFUL DAY IN WOOLLYWOOD…
[Birds chirping]
Willy lies against a flower, fast asleep.
[Willy snores]
Suddenly, Pirouette runs by, pushing BeeBee in a wheelbarrow. Willy wakes up and jumps into the air.
Pirouette and BeeBee yell, LOOK OUT!
[Pirouette and BeeBee laugh]
BeeBee says, FASTER!
Willy says, SWEET SASSY STRING, PIROUETTE! BE CAREFUL WITH MY WHEELBARROW!
Pirouette spins BeeBee around in fast circles.
[Pirouette and BeeBee laugh]
Pirouette says, DON'T WORRY, GRAMPA WILLY, I'M SUPER CAREFUL! OUT YOU GET, BEEBEE!
Pirouette and BeeBee stop in front of Willy.
Willy says, HUH... MAY I HAVE IT BACK NOW?
Pirouette says, CAN I KEEP IT A LITTLE LONGER? I PROMISED RIDES TO SOME OTHER LITTLE WOOLLYS…
Willy frowns and says, EH... OH… SWEET TINY WHEEL! OKAY! BUT MAKE SURE NOT TO DAMAGE IT.
Pirouette says, HAHA! PROMISE!
Pirouette takes the wheelbarrow and runs off.
From behind a flower, BeeBee says, GRAMPA, I WISH I WAS A VEGETABLE SO YOU COULD DRIVE ME AROUND IN YOUR WHEELBARROW ALL THE TIME!
Later in the day, Pirouette runs the wheelbarrow around a wooded field.
[Pirouette pants]
Pirouette says, OH! EH! THIS WHEELBARROW IS PERFECT, BUT IT WOULD BE EVEN MORE PERFECT IF IT COULD HOLD MORE THAN ONE WOOLLY.
Just then, Pirouette trips and falls into a hole in the ground. She lands inside a large yellow mug. She runs around the mug and inspects it.
Pirouette says, OH! WHOA... WHAT IS THIS STRANGE WOWIE THINGY? MMM... BIG ENOUGH TO SIT IN... STYLISH PAINT JOB… OH! IF IT HAD WHEELS, IT WOULD BE AN AMAZING WHEELBARROW FOR AT LEAST THREE LITTLE WOOLLYS! SO COOL, SO COOL, SO… WHO COULD HELP ME TRANSFORM IT? HA! I KNOW THE PERFECT PERSON! I HAVE TO FIND HER RIGHT AWAY! WOOHOO!
Pirouette puts the mug in the wheelbarrow and runs off.
[Birds chirping]
Later in the day, on top of rolling green hills, Josie is sitting beside Claudine. Josie is nestled in a rocking pea pod; she and Claudine both have their eyes closed.
Claudine says, AH...CALM... SERENITY...THAT'S ALL WE NEED...
Josie says, YOU'RE RIGHT, CLAUDINE. THESE PEACEFUL MOMENTS ARE VERY PRECIOUS.
Suddenly, Pirouette runs up the hill with the yellow mug in her wheelbarrow. She crashes into Josie, sending her flying through the air.
Pirouette yells, WATCH OUT!
[Pirouette and Josie scream]
Claudine frowns.
Pirouette says, GRAMMA JOSIE! WEREN'T YOU A GREAT HANDYWOMAN WHEN YOU WERE LIVING WITH THE WHEELLY WOOLLYS?
Josie says, OH, WHY, YES I WAS! BUT I NEVER CRASHED ON ANYONE'S LAWN.
Pirouette says, GREAT! CAUSE I NEED YOUR HELP BUILDING THIS BIG SCOOPY THINGY INTO A THREE-SEATER WHEELBARROW! CAN WE START RIGHT AWAY? I HAVE NO TIME TO LOSE!

Pirouette picks up the mug and looks at Josie.
Pirouette says, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE?
Josie says, AH… OKAY, PIROUETTE. BUT FIRST, I'LL NEED YOUR HELP WITH ONE TINY CHORE.
Pirouette says, A CHORE? PFFT… BUT CAN WE DO IT QUICKLY?
Josie says, HAHA… FOLLOW ME. AND YOU, MY DEAR CLAUDINE, TAKE SOME TIME TO REST.
Josie takes her pea pod rocking chair, and she and Pirouette walk into Claudine’s house.
Claudine says, EASY TO SAY, BUT NOT SO EASY TO DO!
[Claudine yawns]
[Claudine snores]
Inside the house, Josie and Pirouette sit around a table. In front of Pirouette are balls of yarn, and Josie holds knitting needles.
Pirouette says, THE ONE CHORE IS TO KNIT A HAT AND YOU DON'T REMEMBER WHO IT'S FOR? BUT KNITTING TAKES LIKE, FOREVER!
Josie says, OH! HAHA! NOT AT ALL, NOT WHEN YOU'RE FOCUSED! PLEASE START KNITTING… WHEN IT'S THE RIGHT SIZE, I'LL REMEMBER WHO IT'S FOR.
Pirouette begins knitting a blue hat.
[Pirouette grunts]
Pirouette holds up a blue hat. Josie shakes her head.
Josie says, OH YES, THAT COULD BE IT… NO. UM... COULD YOU KNIT ANOTHER HAT, PLEASE?
Pirouette knits a larger, orange hat. Josie shakes her head.
[Pirouette grunts]
Josie says, UM... NO, NO, THAT'S NOT QUITE IT.

[Pirouette grunts]
Josie says, I THINK IT WAS FOR SOMEONE SMALLER.
Pirouette begins to knit a small pink hat.
[Josie giggles]
Josie says, HEHE... NO, NO, DEFINITELY BIGGER.
Pirouette adds to the pink hat.
Josie says, NO, IT WAS DEFINITELY FOR SOMEONE SMALLER!

Pirouette says, ARE YOU SURE SOMEONE ACTUALLY ASKED YOU FOR A HAT?
Josie says, OF COURSE! AND NOW I REMEMBER… IT WAS A WOONICORN! OH... BUT I THINK SHE WANTED A TREASURE!
Pirouette frowns and says, A WHAT NOW?
Josie says, YES, YES, IT WAS A TREASURE! I PROMISED NADEGE I'D BRING HER A TREASURE! HOW SILLY OF ME TO GET SO MIXED UP! HAHA!
Pirouette says, OKAY! HAT TIME'S OVER, WHICH MEANS IT'S WHEELBARROW TIME!
Josie says, NO, IT MEANS IT'S TREASURE TIME.
[Pirouette signs and whines]
Pirouette and Josie leave the house. A little while later, they are out on the field. Josie is pushing the wheelbarrow, and gives Pirouette a shovel.
Josie says, I KNOW I HID THE TREASURE HERE SOMEWHERE, BUT I CAN'T REMEMBER WHERE… AND I'VE LOST THE MAP, OH SILLY ME! HAHA! WE'LL HAVE TO SEARCH THIS WHOLE FIELD TO BE SURE WE DON'T MISS IT.
Pirouette says, OKAY! AND AFTER THAT, YOU'LL HELP ME WITH MY WHEELBARROW, RIGHT?
Pirouette begins digging holes in the ground.
[Pirouette grunts]
Josie calls out, I THINK IT WAS TO THE LEFT...
[Pirouette grunts]
Pirouette continues digging.
Josie says, UH, NO, MORE TO THE RIGHT...
[Pirouette grunts]
Pirouette continues digging.
Josie says, OR, PERHAPS I BURIED IT MORE TO THE LEFT…
Pirouette digs more.
Josie says, NO, RIGHT!
Pirouette digs even more. Then, she collapses in front of Josie.
[Pirouette groans]
[Josie giggles]
Pirouette says, OH! OH...STILL NO TREASURE, GRAMMA JOSIE! ARE YOU SURE THIS IS THE RIGHT FIELD?
Josie runs over to a tree in the middle of the field. Behind the tree is a blue and white swirl.
Josie says, IT'S DEFINITELY THE RIGHT FIELD, BUT... UM… OH! PIROUETTE, YOU WON'T BELIEVE IT! I MUST HAVE DUG IT UP AND LEFT IT BEHIND THE TREE. SILLY ME, RIGHT?
Josie takes the blue swirl back to Pirouette and places it in the wheelbarrow. Josie sits down in the wheelbarrow.
Pirouette says, UH… THIS IS THE TREASURE? SO NOW WE CAN FINALLY GET STARTED ON MY WHEELBARROW?
Josie says, OF COURSE. AFTER WE DELIVER THIS TREASURE.
Pirouette pushes Josie and the blue swirl along in the wheelbarrow.
[Pirouette groans]
Josie says, HURRY, DEAR, WE'RE ALMOST DONE WITH OUR CHORES!
A little while later, Pirouette had pushed Josie all the way to the Woonicorn village. Here, everything is bright and colourful. The ground is blue, and the sky is pink. Behind them is a rainbow.
[Pirouette pants]
Pirouette says, SO, WHERE IS YOUR WOONICORN FRIEND?
Josie says, I'M PRETTY SURE SHE'S ON TOP OF THAT RAINBOW WAY OVER THERE.
Pirouette runs Josie and the wheelbarrow through the blue and pink field, hitting pink bushes on the way.
Josie says, OH! AH! WHOA! OH!
Pirouette runs up the rainbow and approaches a sleeping Woonicorn.
Josie whispers, WAIT! WRONG WOONICORN.
[Woonicorn snores]
Pirouette and Josie go around the Woonicorn and back down the other side of the rainbow. They continue to run through pink fields and gumdrops. They run by Gerald, a flying green Woonicorn.
Pirouette says, HERE?
Josie says, YES! UM... COME TO THINK OF IT, NO, LET'S TRY OVER THERE! NICE CHATTING, GERALD!
Pirouette pushes Josie all the way down a blue path.
Josie says, NOPE, MY MISTAKE! OVER THERE! THERE… I THINK THERE! THERE! ALMOST THERE!
Josie and Pirouette run through swirly bushes, pink fields, and gumdrops.
Josie says, I THINK… KEEP GOING STRAIGHT! KEEP GOING STRAIGHT!
Pirouette and Josie approach two houses, one purple and one green.
Pirouette says, WHOA! IF WE KEEP GOING STRAIGHT, WE'LL CRASH INTO THAT..
Josie says, GO LEFT!
Pirouette quickly turns into the purple house on the left.
Josie says, HAHA! THERE YOU ARE! WELL! HELLO, NADEGE! WE DID IT, PIROUETTE!
Inside the house is Nadege, who is lying on an orange bed. Nadege is a Woonicorn with a yellow horn and mane.
Pirouette says, OKAY! FINALLY! HI! HERE!
Pirouette pulls the blue and white swirl from inside the wheelbarrow.
Pirouette says, WE HAVE YOUR TREASURE.
Nadege says, GEE, YOU'RE SO NICE! BUT… WHAT DO YOU MEAN TREASURE...
Pirouette says, WELL... GRAMMA JOSIE SAID THAT YOU HAD... WELL, THAT YOU WANTED A...
Nadege says, THIS IS TOTALLY NOT A TREASURE! I MEAN, THIS IS A GLITTER SWIRL, LOOK! WE'VE GOT PLENTY OF THEM.
Pirouette says, WHAT?! GRAMMA JOSIE! WHY DID YOU SAY IT WAS A TREASURE?
Pirouette looks around, but Josie is nowhere to be found.
Pirouette says, GRAMMA JOSIE? WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO ME! I JUST WANTED A THREE-SEATED WHEELBARROW!
Pirouette takes the wheelbarrow and runs off.
Nadege says, ACTUALLY, IT KINDA IS A TREASURE CAUSE, IT'S THE ONLY ONE THAT'S BLUE!
Later in the day, Josie returns to Claudine’s house. She is attaching green wheels to the yellow mug.
[Josie sings]
Just then, Pirouette runs up to Claudine and Josie.
Pirouette says, GRAMMA JOSIE! YOU SAID I HAD TO DO ONLY ONE CHORE BEFORE MAKING THE WHEELBARROW! BUT I KNITTED A BUNCH OF ROUND, FLAT HATS, I LOOKED FOR A TREASURE THAT DIDN'T EXIST, I HAD TO ZIGZAG BETWEEN A TON OF CANDY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD… AND ALL THIS WAS… OH!
Pirouette looks down to see four wheels attached to the yellow mug.
Pirouette says, ALL OF THIS WAS TO HELP ME LEARN TO BE PATIENT AND TO DRIVE MORE SAFELY?
Josie says, BRAVO, PIROUETTE! YOU'VE FIGURED IT OUT!
Pirouette says, WOAH...
Josie says, I WAS DELIGHTED TO HELP YOU, DEAR, BUT I HAD TO BE SURE YOU WERE READY TO CARRY LITTLE WOOLLYS IN YOUR OWN WHEELBARROW. AND NOW YOU ARE!
Pirouette says, EEE! THANK YOU! YOU TAUGHT ME SOMETHING SUPER IMPORTANT THAT I'LL REMEMBER FOREVER! AND, NOW THAT I HAVE BEEN PATIENT, CAN I GO PICK UP MY LITTLE FRIENDS?
Josie says, OF COURSE!
Pirouette says, SAY, GRAMMA JOSIE, WOULD YOU LIKE THE FIRST RIDE?
Josie says, I WOULD INDEED, THANK YOU!
Pirouette pushes Josie in the mug wheelbarrow. They zigzag through the field.
Josie and Pirouette say, WOOHOO!
[Josie and Pirouette laugh]
The red curtains close on the cardboard theatre and transition back to the playroom floor.
Lila says, IT'S TRUE! IT TAKES PATIENCE AND TIME TO LEARN HOW TO READ. BUT IT CAN BE FUN.
Lila sets up blocks, one of which has the letter m written on it.
Lila says, LOOK, THAT'S AN M FOR MARCO.
Marco turns the block upside down.
Marco says, YES. OR A W FOR WOOLLY!

[Marco and Lila laugh]
