Descriptive Transcript

[Upbeat music plays, birds sing]

DESCRIPTION: Paths lead to houses in a small village on a grassy hill. Four sails on a windmill rotate slowly.

[Song] Here comes Donkey Hodie.

DESCRIPTION: Donkey Hodie, a yellow donkey with a purple mane and long eyelashes, exits the windmill through a doorway.

DONKEY: Hee-haw!

The singers sing, DONKEY HODIE.

[Song] She loves adventure, she loves surprise. When there's a problem, she tries and tries.

[Bean stalk rustles, slide whistle]

DESCRIPTION: A bean stalk grows in Donkey’s garden, and she rides it into the air.

[Song] Let's go, Donkey Hodie. If she fails, she'll bounce right back. Come on, Duck Duck, give a quack.

[Drum boings, slide whistle]

DESCRIPTION: In front of Grampy Hodie’s cabin, Donkey jumps onto a drum and bounces off. Grampy Hodie watches her bounce up in front of Duck Duck in the sky.

DUCK DUCK: Kee-kee! Quack!

[Song] Donkey Hodie.

[Balls boing]

DESCRIPTION: In Bob Dog’s front yard, Donkey and Bob Dog, a brown dog, ride on top of bouncing balls.

[Song] Plays with Bob Dog, they have a ball. It's fun for them, it's fun for all.

[Boings, slide whistle]

DESCRIPTION: Donkey bounces off her ball and lands in front of Purple Panda’s spaceship.

BOB DOG: Bow-wow!

[Song] Donkey Hodie.

[Whoosh]

DESCRIPTION: In outer space, Donkey and Purple Panda ride in the spaceship.

[Song] Just for fun, she'll take a trip. With Purple Panda in a spaceship.

PANDA: Hey-o!

[Slide whistle]

[Song] Hee and a haw and a haw and a hee. Someplace else is the place to be. With our pal, Donkey Hodie.

[Slide whistle]

DONKEY: Hee-haw!

[Episode title] The Golden Crunchdoodles.

[Birds chirp, door creaks, wind whooshes, light music plays]

DESCRIPTION: At her house, Donkey opens the top of her Dutch door. She and Panda watch grey clouds blow away in the blue sky.

DONKEY: The rain stopped!

[Panda gasps]

PANDA: Time to play outside! Hey-o!

[Donkey laughs, upbeat music plays, door creaks]

DESCRIPTION: Donkey and Panda go outside.

DONKEY: Hee-haw!

[Panda sighs happily]

PANDA: Okay. What do you want to do today, Donkey?

[Boing, Donkey gasps]

DESCRIPTION: Donkey stops and looks up at the sky.

PANDA: Uh, Donkey?

DONKEY: Panda, are you seeing what I'm seeing?

PANDA: Huh?

DESCRIPTION: A golden rainbow arcs over their heads and ends in the distant hills.

BOTH: A golden rainbow!

PANDA: Never seen one before.

DONKEY: They only show up in Someplace Else on very special days.

PANDA: Oh, I knew today felt special.

DONKEY: And do you want to know something else, something so hee-hawesome about golden rainbows?

PANDA: Uh, yes. Yes, I do.

DONKEY: I heard that at the end of every golden rainbow...

PANDA: Yeah?

DONKEY: Is a bowl of Golden Crunchdoodles.

[Both gasp]

PANDA: You mean the most deliciously golden, crispy, crunchiest cereal of all time...

DONKEY: Uh-huh.

PANDA: Is at the end of the rainbow?

DONKEY: Uh-huh!

PANDA: Is it true?

DONKEY: Is it true? Is it true?! Well, I don't know, but it sure would be fun to find out.

PANDA: Uh, yeah, it would. Let's go and see.

[Panda giggles]

DONKEY: We, Donkey Hodie...

PANDA: And Purple Panda.

DONKEY: Will go on a super fun quest...

PANDA: To the end of the rainbow!

BOTH: To the Golden Crunchdoodles!

[Both imitate trumpets playing a flourish]

DESCRIPTION: Donkey and Panda walk beneath the rainbow.

DONKEY: Just got to keep following the rainbow above us until the end.

PANDA: Oh, I can't wait till we get there.

DONKEY: Mm-hmm.

PANDA: But what if the Golden Crunchdoodles aren't there? I'll be pretty disappointed.

DONKEY: Yeah, me too. Oh, but what if they are there, Panda? What do you think they'll taste like?

PANDA: Oh, like -- like golden happy yumminess.

DONKEY: Or like golden yummy happiness.

PANDA: Maybe both. Whoa!

DESCRIPTION: A tall stone wall blocks Panda and Donkey’s path.

DONKEY: Ooh! A wall? Maybe we can get around it.

[Footsteps patter]

DESCRIPTION: Panda walks to his right.

PANDA: Uh...hmm. Not that way.

[Footsteps patter]

DESCRIPTION: Donkey walks to her left.

DONKEY: Not that way, either.

[Birds chirp]

PANDA: Oh, no. What are we gonna do? If we can't get past this wall, we're gonna have to turn around. And then we'll never know if the Golden Crunchdoodles are at the end of the rainbow.

[The music stops]

DONKEY: We're not giving up, Panda. We can find a way past this wall. Think, Donkey Hodie, think.

[Light music plays]

PANDA: Huh.

DONKEY: Hmm. We can't go around it.

PANDA: And we can't go through it.

DONKEY: But maybe we can go over it! Come on, Panda. Time to climb.

[Both grunt]

DESCRIPTION: Donkey and Panda climb the wall.

DONKEY: Alright. Almost at the top.

[Donkey gasps, slide whistle]

DESCRIPTION: Panda raises his hand victoriously and loses his balance.

PANDA CHEERS: Woo-hoo!

[Panda grunts]

DESCRIPTION: Panda pulls himself back up to the top of the wall.

DONKEY: Ohh!

[Gasps]

DONKEY: Whoa.

PANDA: Hey. What's that sound?

[Music notes twinkle]

DESCRIPTION: Gold music notes fall from the golden rainbow.

DONKEY: Ah! I think it's coming from the Golden Rainbow.

DESCRIPTION: Panda and Donkey sit on top of the wall.

PANDA: Did you know that the Golden Rainbow made such beautiful music?

[Birds chirp]

DESCRIPTION: Donkey shakes her head.

DONKEY: No. We might be the first to ever hear it.

PANDA: Wow.

[Gentle music plays]

DONKEY: Ah, well, we better get moving. We are on a quest to the end of the rainbow!

PANDA: To the Golden Crunchdoodles!

[Both imitate trumpets playing a flourish]

[Upbeat music plays, Panda grunts, footsteps patter]

DESCRIPTION: Donkey jumps off the top of the wall, and Panda climbs down.

DONKEY: Hah! Maybe they taste more like crunchy golden loveliness.

PANDA: Oh, I'm thinking they taste more like crunchy, lovely goldenness.

[Panda giggles]

DONKEY: Can't wait to find out. There's no stopping us now!

DESCRIPTION: A striped gate blocks the cobblestone path.

PANDA: Oh, what is this?

DONKEY: It looks like a no-passing gate.

[Sad music plays]

PANDA: But what are we gonna do? If we can't get past, then we'll have to turn around. Then we'll never know if the Golden Crunchdoodles are at the end of the rainbow.

DONKEY: We can't give up yet, Purple Panda, my pal. There's got to be a way past this gate.

GAMESHOW GATOR: There sure is a way!

[Whoosh, bell dings, audience cheers]

DESCRIPTION: Gameshow Gator steps between the gate, and Donkey and Panda.

GAMESHOW GATOR: It's time to play "The Middle of the Golden Rainbow Game"! Mm-hmm! Uh-huh! Hello, Donkey Hodie and Purple Panda.

[Audience cheers]

PANDA: It's Gameshow Gator!

DONKEY: Hi, Gator! What's going on?

GAMESHOW GATOR: Well, you both are the new contestants for the "Middle of the Golden Rainbow Game."

[Donkey and Panda gasp]

DESCRIPTION: Two stands with buzzers on the top slide in front of Donkey and Panda.

DONKEY: We get to play a game?

PANDA: Oh, what do we win? What do we win?

[The music stops, birds chirp]

GAMESHOW GATOR: If you win, the gate goes up, and you get to continue to the end of the Golden Rainbow.

[Audience cheers]

DONKEY: Oh, that's exactly what we want to do.

PANDA: Yeah. How do we play?

GAMESHOW GATOR: I will ask you a question. Answer it correctly, and the gate will open.

[Audience cheers]

GAMESHOW GATOR: Mm-hmm. Okay, are you ready?

[Light music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Donkey nods.

DONKEY: Mm-hmm.

GAMESHOW GATOR: Okay. Please name everything you like about the Golden Rainbow.

DONKEY: Ah!

[Bell dings]

DESCRIPTION: Donkey pushes her button.

GAMESHOW GATOR: Donkey Hodie.

DONKEY: I like how beautiful the Golden Rainbow is, and also how we are going to see if the Golden Crunchdoodles are at the end.

[Audience cheers]

PANDA: Oh!

[Bell dings]

DESCRIPTION: Panda pushes his button.

GAMESHOW GATOR: Purple Panda.

PANDA: Um, I like that we never knew that the Golden Rainbow made music and that there was a game in the middle of it.

[Bell dings, audience cheers]

DESCRIPTION: Panda hits his button again.

GAMESHOW GATOR: Final answers?

PANDA AND DONKEY: Final answers.

GAMESHOW GATOR: Those are great answers! You win!

[Ding ding ding, Gameshow Gator laughs, audience cheers, gate creaks, upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: The gate swings open.

DONKEY: Hee-haw!

PANDA: Hey-o!

GAMESHOW GATOR: Thanks for playing the "Middle of the Golden Rainbow Game!"

DONKEY: Thanks, Gator.

DESCRIPTION: Panda waves as he and Donkey pause by the open gate.

PANDA: See ya!

GAMESHOW GATOR: Bye!

[He laughs, upbeat music plays, birds chirp]

DESCRIPTION: Donkey and Panda walk on the cobblestone path.

DONKEY: I can't believe how many fun things we've seen and done on our quest.

PANDA: Mm-hmm. And we're not even done questing.

[Panda giggles, upbeat music continues]

DONKEY: Golden Crunchdoodles, here we come!

[Both imitate trumpets playing a flourish]

PANDA: Maybe the Golden Crunchdoodles taste like super nutty deliciousness.

DONKEY: Oh, yeah, or maybe they taste like super delicious nuttiness.

PANDA: Ohhh, I'm so excited! I can...almost taste them.

DESCRIPTION: Donkey squints as she is illuminated by golden light.

DONKEY: And we must be getting close to the end because this Golden Rainbow is getting really, really bright.

PANDA: Yeah, it's getting so bright, I can barely see.

DONKEY: Maybe we should just close our eyes.

PANDA: Oh, okay.

[Panda inhales deeply, thud]

DESCRIPTION: Panda and Donkey close their eyes and walk with their hands outstretched. They bump into each other and fall.

PANDA AND DONKEY: Ohh!

[Light music plays, birds chirp]

DESCRIPTION: They both stand.

DONKEY: Okay, that didn't work.

PANDA: Oh, Donkey, what are we going to do now? We'll have to turn back, and then we'll never know if there are Golden Crunchdoodles at the end of the rainbow.

DONKEY: Panda, we've come too far to give up now. Hmm.

[Sunglasses rattle]

DESCRIPTION: Donkey holds two pairs of sunglasses.

DONKEY: Panda, we've come too far to give up now. Hmm. I know! We just need some sunglasses! I know! We just need some sunglasses!

DESCRIPTION: Panda and Donkey put on the sunglasses and turn towards the rainbow.

PANDA: Whoa.

DONKEY: Wow. It's so beautiful here.

PANDA: Yeah. Who knew the Golden Rainbow had all these light bursts? It's almost like the light is dancing.

DONKEY: Yeah! That makes me feel like dancing.

[Rock music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Donkey and Panda stand in front of the golden rainbow.

DONKEY SINGS: I've got a bright idea.

PANDA SINGS: I think the time is right.

DONKEY SINGS: We're gonna do a dance in all this golden light.

PANDA SINGS: First, our hands go.

DESCRIPTION: Donkey and Panda lift their hands over their heads as they sway.


BACKUP SINGER: Whoa-oh oh oh, oh, oh.

DONKEY SINGS: Then our hips go.

DESCRIPTION: Donkey and Panda move their hips.

BACKUP SINGER: Whoa-oh oh oh, oh, oh.

PANDA SINGS: Then our feet go.

[Stomp]

DESCRIPTION: Donkey and Panda stomp their feet and dance.

BOTH SING: 'Cause we're dancing under the Golden Rainbow. Whoa, oh-oh-oh, whoa-oh, whoa-oh. Dancing under the Golden Rainbow. Whoa, oh-oh-oh, whoa oh oh oh.

DESCRIPTION: They dance.

PANDA SINGS: The rain has come and gone.

DONKEY SINGS: And now the sun is out.

PANDA SINGS: Under the rainbow's arc is where we twist and shout.

BOTH SHOUT: Whoo!

DONKEY SINGS: First, our hands go.

DESCRIPTION: Donkey and Panda lift their hands over their heads as they sway.

BACKUP SINGER: Whoa-oh oh oh, oh, oh.

PANDA SINGS: Then our hips go.

DESCRIPTION: Donkey and Panda move their hips.

BACKUP SINGER: Whoa-oh oh oh, oh, oh.

DONKEY SINGS: Then our feet go.

[Stomp]

DESCRIPTION: Donkey and Panda stomp their feet and dance.

BOTH DANCE: 'Cause we're dancing under the Golden Rainbow. Whoa, oh-oh-oh, whoa, oh oh oh. Dancing under the Golden Rainbow. Whoa, oh-oh-oh, whoa oh oh oh.

DESCRIPTION: Donkey and Panda dance beneath the rainbow. They fall backwards and then stand up on the cobblestone path.

[The rock music ends, light music plays]

PANDA: Oh, hey, look, Donkey! We're almost there.

[Upbeat music plays]

DONKEY: You're right. We have to keep going to the end of the rainbow.

PANDA: To the Golden Crunchdoodles!

[Both imitate trumpets playing a flourish, Donkey laughs, both gasp]

DESCRIPTION: The golden rainbow ends on the path.

DONKEY: We made it to the end of the Golden Rainbow!

[Birds sing]

PANDA: Hey-o! Now let's find those Golden Crunchdoodles.

[Light music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Donkey and Panda run to the end of the shimmering golden rainbow.

DONKEY: Now, where are they? Hmm.

DESCRIPTION: Donkey and Panda walk around the end of the rainbow.

PANDA: Nope. Not back here.

DONKEY: Uh... Hmm.

PANDA: Um...

DESCRIPTION: Panda and Donkey look behind a tree.

DONKEY: Uh...huh. Hmm. Now, those Crunchdoodles got to be around here. Um, maybe they're at... Um...hmm. Huh.

DESCRIPTION: Panda and Donkey look behind a bush.

PANDA: Hmm.

DONKEY: Do you see them, Panda?

PANDA: Hmm, no. Do you, Donkey?

DONKEY: No. I guess it looks like the Golden Crunchdoodles aren't here.

[Panda sighs]

PANDA: I feel...I feel lots of sad disappointment.

DONKEY: And I feel lots of disappointed sadness.

[Both sigh]

DONKEY: I was really hoping to find the Golden Crunchdoodles, especially after all we went through to get here.

PANDA: What a bad day. The wall, the gate, the brightness.

[Donkey gasps]

DONKEY: Yeah. The wall, the gate, the brightness.

PANDA: I just said that.

DONKEY: I know. But remember what happened at the wall?

[Panda gasps, gentle music plays]

DESCRIPTION: In a thought bubble, golden music notes fall from the rainbow.

PANDA: Oh, yeah! We heard the Golden Rainbow's beautiful music.

DONKEY: And at the gate?

[Gameshow Gator chatters, bells ding, audience cheers]

DESCRIPTION: In a thought bubble, Gameshow Gator stands in front of the gate.

GAMESHOW GATOR: You win!

PANDA: We played the "Middle of the Golden Rainbow Game."

[Happy music plays]

DONKEY: Yeah, and then when we got to the really bright part and we sang?

PANDA: Oh, and we danced?

DONKEY: And did this.

[Donkey laughs, Panda giggles, footsteps tap]

DESCRIPTION: Donkey holds out her arms and dances. Panda dances beside her.

DONKEY: And we wouldn't have had this much fun if we hadn't gone looking for the Golden Crunchdoodles.

PANDA: Hey-o!

[Panda giggles]

DONKEY: Hey. Hey, Panda.

PANDA: Hi.

DONKEY: Let's keep having fun and do this all over again on the way back!

[Panda gasps]

PANDA: To the beginning of the rainbow.

[Both imitate trumpets playing a flourish, both laugh]

DESCRIPTION: Donkey and Panda turn around and walk away from the end of the golden rainbow.

[Upbeat music plays]
