Descriptive Transcript

[Cheerful music plays, box boings, Yapette grunts, Roller Guinea chitters]

DESCRIPTION: In animation, a wooden spoon floats from a magical blue mixing box with yellow stars.

[Song] Mixmups, here come the Mixmups. Mixmups, mix, mix, the Mixmups. Mixmups, here come the Mixmups. Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh.

[Title] Mixmups.

DESCRIPTION: The Mixmups, Pockets, Spin and Giggle pose beneath the text. Pockets is a blue bear with red pockets. She wears triangular red eyeglasses with a yellow star on each side. Spin is a red rabbit with a yellow lollipop-like antenna poking out beneath each of his ears. Giggle, who uses a wheelchair, is a yellow-and-light-orange-striped cat. She holds Roller Guinea, a roller skate-wearing guinea pig, on her lap. Yellow, red and orange confetti explodes in the air.

[Chiming, cheerful music continues]

[Song] Mix up the magic, one, two, three!

DESCRIPTION: The Mixmups gather around the mixing box in front of their house. Lucky Loover Bird stands beside a swing on a hilltop. Magical sparkles leave their trunk and flow towards the Mixmups. Roller Guinea and Yapette, Pocket’s guide dog, stand with them. The Mixmups spin above the box and fly inside. In a forest with yellow and orange leaves on the trees, Giggle uses her electric tri-ride add-on with Pockets, Yapette, and Spin running behind her. In a bakery, Spin serves Pockets and Giggle cake. The Mixmups wear pirate hats, and Giggle turns a ship’s wheel. Pockets plays an electric guitar.

LUCKY LOOVER BIRD NARRATES: In Mixington Valley, the Mixmups play. What kind of adventure will they mix up today?

[Teacups creak]

DESCRIPTION: On the hilltop, Lucky Loover Bird swings on their tree swing and watches Spin and Pockets ride the spinning teacup ride beside their house.

POCKETS: The sun feels so warm. I like it.

SPIN: Yeah, it's good this, isn't it?

[Wheels rustle, Roller Guinea murmurs, light music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Giggle spins the wheels on her wheelchair and then flaps her arms. Roller Guinea glides beside her on their roller skates.

GIGGLE CHEERS: Wee! Wahoo!

SPIN: What are you doing, Giggle?

[Cheerful music plays]

DESCRIPTION: The spinning teacups stop. Giggle flaps her arms and rolls past the cups.

GIGGLE: Flying! Wahoo!

POCKETS: Oh! Where are you flying to?

GIGGLE: High up into the clouds.

[Whoosh, Yapette barks softly]

DESCRIPTION: Pockets flaps her arms.

POCKETS: I want to fly too.

SPIN: Me too!

[Arms whoosh]

DESCRIPTION: Spin flaps his arms quickly.

SPIN: Faster! Faster! Whoa! I'm going to take off!

[Light music plays, Giggle giggles]

GIGGLE: You need wings to fly, Spin!

SPIN: Nah! I don't need wings. My arms are super strong.

[Birds chirp]

POCKETS: Oh, wouldn't it be fun if we could really fly?

[Jump boings]

DESCRIPTION: Spin hops out of a teacup.

SPIN: Let's do it! Let's mix up a flying adventure and learn how to really fly!

[Roller Guinea murmurs]

GIGGLE: Great idea, Spin!

ALL: Yay!

[Gentle music plays, footsteps patter, door creaks]

DESCRIPTION: Lucky Loover Bird hops off their swing and opens a door in the tree trunk, revealing a pilot’s hat.

LUCKY LOOVER BIRD: Ooh. Time to play.

[Goggles clatter, wings rustle]

DESCRIPTION: In front of their house, the Mixmups put ingredients into the magical mixing box.

POCKETS: Toy flying goggles.

GIGGLE: My fairy wings.

SPIN: Some flappy flying noises.

[Arms whoosh]

DESCRIPTION: Everyone flaps their arms.

ALL: Flap! Flap! Flap!

SPIN: Hmm. What else do we need?

[Gentle music plays, sparkles chime]

DESCRIPTION: On the hilltop, Lucky Loover Bird blows sparkles towards the Mixmups.

MIXMUPS: Magic sparkles!

[Yapette barks, rock music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Pockets uses the wooden spoon to stir the contents of the mixing box.

MIXMUPS SING: Mix up the magic, one, two, three. Mix up the magic, whoo-hoo, yippee! Mix it, twirl it, whirl it, hey! Time for some magic, adventure and play. Mixmups, Mixmups, yeah!

DESCRIPTION: The Mixmups and the wooden spoon drop into the box. The box shrinks and disappears.

[Chime, thunk]

DESCRIPTION: The mixing box reappears in an empty white space, and the Mixmups and wooden spoon fly out. Pockets catches the spoon. The box unfolds, and trees and hills appear around the Mixmups. Beside them is a chalkboard, a desk, and a bookcase with a pilot’s hat on top.

MIXMUPS SING: Mixmups, Mixmups, Mixmups, mix up the magic, one, two, three. Yeah.

ALL: Wow!

[Wind blows, upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: A windsock waves on top of a pole. Lucky Loover Bird appears wearing their pilot’s hat and a bushy brown moustache. They flap their arms as they walk, with three wingles behind them also flapping their arms.

GIGGLE: What's this place?

LUCKY LOOVER BIRD: Toey? Only me! Come and join us!

GIGGLE: Who are you?

[Light music plays]

LUCKY LOOVER BIRD: Today, I'm Mrs. Flappy, your friendly flying instructor. Welcome to Flappy's Flying School.

DESCRIPTION: Lucky Loover Bird, as Mrs. Flappy, flaps their arms.

MRS. FLAPPY: Flap! Flap! Flap!

[Birds chirp]

GIGGLE: We want to learn how to fly!

DESCRIPTION: Spin nods.

POCKETS: Can you teach us?

[Upbeat music plays]

MRS. FLAPPY: I can teach anyone how to fly. Birds, bees, unicorns. And, um.

[Yapette barks]

MRS. FLAPPY: Yes! Even little guide doggies.

[Spin pants, arms whoosh]

DESCRIPTION: Spin runs and flaps his arms.

SPIN: Am I doing it right?

MRS. FLAPPY: Not without wings you're not!

[Pop, Mixmups gasp, Yapette barks softly, Roller Guinea murmurs]

DESCRIPTION: Orange wings with handgrips appear across Spin’s back, and he wears a yellow helmet and safety vest. Wings, helmets and safety vests appear on Pockets and Giggle.

MRS. FLAPPY: There! Now, you're ready to take to the skies.

SPIN: Oh! Stand back, everyone! I'm gonna give it a go.

[Pants, arms whoosh]

DESCRIPTION: Spin flaps his wings.

SPIN: My wings are broken. I need another pair.

MRS. FLAPPY: They're not broken. You just need to know how to use them. Like these wingles.

[Flapping, wingles vocalize, zaps, upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: The three wingles fly. On the ground, pink books appear in the Mixmups’ hands.

MIXMUPS: Ooh!

MRS. FLAPPY: There we are! Your flying books.

GIGGLE: Ooh! I love reading books.

[Squeak]

DESCRIPTION: Spin throws the book to Mrs. Flappy.

SPIN: Nah! I don't need a book. I'll be over there flying while you both read. See you up there.

DESCRIPTION: In the sky, two clouds with yellow edges watch Spin walk away. By the desk, Giggle and Pockets read their books as Spin runs around.

CLOUDS: Hmm?

[Spin laughs, flap]

DESCRIPTION: Giggle lifts her wings, wiggles her bottom, and flaps.

GIGGLE: Uh, so first I do this. Then I do a bit of that. Then I do this. And then I float off the ground.

[Pockets gasps, wings flap, upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Giggle flies up, and Pockets’ mouth drops open.

GIGGLE: Whoa!

[Wingle chatters, wings flap]

DESCRIPTION: A wingle flies to Giggle.

GIGGLE: Look at me! I'm flying!

MRS. FLAPPY: Oh! Tip-top flying! That's the ticket!

POCKETS: Wow, Giggle! You're so high!

[Wings flap, a wingle chatter]

DESCRIPTION: A second wingle flies beside Giggle.

GIGGLE: Come and fly, too! Just read the book and do the actions!

[Soft music plays, birds chirp]

POCKETS: Hmm. There are too many words in this book. My eyes are getting tired reading them all.

MRS. FLAPPY: Tired eyes? Sounds like you need to learn with your ears instead.

[Pop, zap]

DESCRIPTION: A yellow book appears in Mrs. Flappy’s hand, and she opens it.

BOOK: Hello! How to fly.

MRS. FLAPPY: A talking book just for you. Have a listen and see how you get on.

POCKETS: Thank you!

DESCRIPTION: Mrs. Flappy gives Pockets the talking book. In the sky, the two clouds smile.

CLOUDS: Hmm.

[Spin pants]

DESCRIPTION: Spin runs past Pockets, flapping his wings.

BOOK: Hold your arms out. Flap them up and down. Wiggle your bottom, then float off the ground.

[Birds chirp, Spin pants]

DESCRIPTION: Pockets closes the book and put it on the ground.

POCKETS: Okay, let's give it a go.

[Wings flap]

DESCRIPTION: Pockets flies up towards Giggle. Yapette flies beside her, flapping her ears.

ROLLER GUINEA: Wahoo!

[Pockets giggles, wings flap]

POCKETS CHEERS: Wahoo!

GIGGLE CHEERS: Yay!

POCKETS: Come on, Spin!

GIGGLE: Just look at the book, Spin! It's easy!

[Roller Guinea murmurs, Giggle giggles]

SPIN: Nah! I'll do it my way. Your way takes too long.

[Arms flap, light music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Spin jumps up and down, flapping his arms. Mrs. Flappy picks up the talking book.

MRS. FLAPPY: Top marks for trying. But perhaps this could help.

BOOK: Hello! How to fly.

SPIN: I don't need to! I've almost done it!

[Arms flap, Roller Guinea murmurs, upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Spin runs away, flapping his wings. On the ground, Roller Guinea reads a book.

MRS. FLAPPY: And how are you getting along?

[Roller Guinea murmurs, boing]

DESCRIPTION: Roller Guinea wiggles their bottom and then nods their head. Aviator goggles fall over their eyes.

MRS. FLAPPY: That's right! You're getting it!

[Roller skates rattle]

DESCRIPTION: Roller Guinea flies up to Giggle.

ROLLER GUINEA: Wahoo!

[Giggle gasps, roller skates buzz]

GIGGLE: Roller Guinea, you did it!

[Roller Guinea murmurs, boing, arms whoosh]

DESCRIPTION: On the ground, Spin jumps and flaps his arms. Three wingles sit on benches and watch him.

GIGGLE: Look at us, Spin!

[Spin groans, birds chirp, sad music plays]

SPIN: I give up! I don't want to fly anymore!

POCKETS: I think Spin needs some help.

[Slide whistle, arms flap, Roller Guinea murmurs, slide whistle]

DESCRIPTION: Pockets and Giggle fly downwards. In the sky, the edges of the clouds turn purple, and their mouths turn down. Roller Guinea bounces off Spins’ helmet and lands on the ground. Pockets, Yapette, and Giggle land.

POCKETS: Are you okay, Spin?

SPIN: Uh! Me arms hurt from too much flapping.

GIGGLE: Don't stop trying! You can do it!

[Roller Guinea murmurs]

SPIN: We all came here to learn how to fly, but I can't do it!

MRS. FLAPPY: Hmm. I wonder. Is there anything else you could do to learn how to fly?

[Gentle music plays]

DESCRIPTION: In the thought bubble, a flashback shows the Mixmups, Yapette, and Roller Guinea wearing their wings.

SPIN: First, we got some really cool wings.

DESCRIPTION: In the thought bubble, a flashback shows Giggle flying.

GIGGLE: I learned to fly by reading the instruction book.

DESCRIPTION: In the thought bubble, a flashback of Pockets holding the talking book appears, and she flies up to Giggle.

POCKETS: And I learned how to fly by listening to a talking book.

[Pop, Roller Guinea murmurs, skates rattle]

DESCRIPTION: The thought bubble disappears. On the ground, Roller Guinea skates in front of Spin.

SPIN: It's just--I find reading and listening to books really hard.

[Birds chirp]

POCKETS: Hmm. Maybe we could show you how to fly instead.

SPIN: Maybe.

DESCRIPTION: In the sky, the clouds smile and their edges change to green.

CLOUDS: Hmm?

(Upbeat music plays, wings flap, Spin giggles, gasps]

DESCRIPTION: Giggle shows Spin how to flap the wings, and Pockets, Yapette, and Roller Guinea show Spin how to wiggle his bottom. Spin flies up and looks down.

SPIN: I'm doing it! Wahoo! Yay!

[Roller Guinea murmurs, Giggle and Pockets cheer, Spin cheers, Spin imitates an airplane, Giggle and Pockets cheer, Roller Guinea murmurs]

DESCRIPTION: On the ground, everyone watches Spin fly. The others fly up to him. Spin and the wingles fly together in circles. He waves to the wingles and they fly away. Everyone lands on the ground by Mrs. Flappy and the desk.

SPIN: I did it! I learned how to fly because my friends helped me learn my way! They showed me how to do it.

MRS. FLAPPY: Well, as I say, there's always another way.

[Pop, chimes]

DESCRIPTION: The wings, helmets, and safety vests disappear, and Pockets takes the wooden spoon out of her pocket.

POCKETS: Oh! It's time to go home.

[Chimes, upbeat music plays, whoosh, flapping]

DESCRIPTION: Pockets holds up the wooden spoon, and the trees, desk, bookcase, and chalkboard disappear as the mixing box folds back into a box. Mrs. Flappy, as Lucky Loover Bird again, waves to the Mixmups. Sparkles lift them and carry them back into the mixing box.

Lucky Loover Bird says, TOODLE-OO!

[Upbeat music plays, chimes, spoon thuds]

DESCRIPTION: The magical mixing box reappears near the spinning teacup ride. The Mixmups lift out of the box and each lands in a teacup. The wooden spoon floats out of the box, and Pockets catches it.

[Giggle sighs]

GIGGLE: That was some fab fun flying.

[Pockets gasps, kites rustle, birds chirp, mellow music plays]

DESCRIPTION: The Mixmups each pick up a kite off the floor of their teacup.

POCKETS: Look! Kites.

[Spin groans]

SPIN: But I've forgotten how to fly a kite.

GIGGLE: It's okay, Spin. We can show you.

SPIN: Oh, yeah!

POCKETS: I wonder who left them here?

[Mellow music continues, door creaks, slams, hat rustles, Mixmups laugh distantly]

DESCRIPTION: On the hilltop, Lucky Loover Bird puts the pilot’s hat back into the tree trunk, closes the door, and sits on their tree swing.

LUCKY LOOVER BIRD: Mixing up adventures near and far, but home is where the Mixmups are. Bye, Mixmups!

[Chimes, cheerful music plays]
