[Upbeat music plays]

[Child giggles]

CHILD: Whee!

[Opening credits] T.V.O. Kids plus Big Bad Boo Studios Original.

[Cheerful music plays]

DESCRIPTION: A red car drives past apartment buildings. Inside 16 Hudson, Luc knocks on a door, and Sam and Lili open it. Amala waits in the hall beside Luc. In a playground, Sara climbs a pole with a clock on the top as Luc runs past carrying a skateboard. Lili and Sam play hide and seek. Lili runs beside her fluffy white Persian cat, who is Kensington, and Ivan waves as she passes. Families stand on their balconies and wave. The residents of 16 Hudson blow bubbles in a field.

[Song] Who's that knocking at my door? I'll race you to the bottom floor. Who's that playing hide and seek? Count to ten and don't you peek. Let's head outside and play. Create a brand-new game or search beneath the stairs for hidden treasure there. 16 Hudson. That's where my friends are waiting. 16 Hudson, won't you come along? 16 Hudson, where everybody's welcome. 16 Hudson, that's where I belong.

DESCRIPTION: A rainbow arcs over 16 Hudson.

DESCRIPTION: On a title card, Sam watches Ivan and Suzi from his balcony.

[Episode Title] Third Wheel.

[Upbeat music plays, birds chirp]

DESCRIPTION: In a treehouse in the playground, Luc stands beside Sam, who peers through binoculars.

LUC: See any Bloopians?

SAM: Uh, not yet. But we have to check every day because you never know when you might—

[Gasps]

SAM: I see one!

DESCRIPTION: Lili appears through the binoculars.

SAM: Ah, wait. It's just Lili.

LILI: Just Lili with amazing news! Have you guys heard? Ivan's coming back to 16 Hudson!

[Happy music notes play]

SAM: What! You mean the best thing that could ever possibly happen—

LILI: Has happened!

LUC: Wow!

[The music stops, vehicle engines hum, birds sing]

SAM: Wait. Does that mean Bridget is leaving?

LILI: Nah! We still need a super, and Ivan's retired now.

[Upbeat music plays]

SAM: But he is coming back?

LILI: Yes! Mama said he's just gonna live here, and she said he's bringing a big surprise!

DESCRIPTION: On another day in the building, Sam and Lili look at an apartment door decorated with cut-out stars and flowers, a banner, pictures of rockets, and photographs of Ivan with the children.

SAM: So? You think it's big enough? We've got to show Ivan we're glad he's back.

LILI: I think he'll get the idea.

SAM: Now that he doesn't have to be a super, he'll have more time to do fun stuff, like go to the street fair with his best buddy, Sam!

[Door opens]

DESCRIPTION: Luc runs into the building.

LUC: He's here! He's here! Ivan's here!

[Children giggle, upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Luc, Lili, and Sam run outside as Ivan pulls carries a bag and pulls a suitcase towards the building. They hug him.

SAM: Ivan! You're back!

[Ivan chuckles]

LILI: Welcome home, Ivan!

LUC: Is that really Ivan? He looks different.

[The music stops]

LILI: Luc means you look nice, Ivan!

SAM: We heard you were bringing a surprise! Is it the fancy clothes?

[Ivan chuckles, gentle music plays]

IVAN: No! No, it's not the clothes! It's Suzi!

DESCRIPTION: Suzi, a woman with wavy black hair held back with a blue headband, walks to stand beside Ivan and waves.

SUZI: Hello!

IVAN: Everyone, this is Suzi, my new wife.

CHILDREN: Huh?

IVAN: Surprise!

[Upbeat music plays]

LILI: New wife!

SUZI: And best friend.

[Unhappy music notes play]

SAM: New best friend?

IVAN: Yep! We met at a comic convention, and it was love at first sight.

[Ivan giggles]

IVAN: Wasn't it? Yep.

SAM: Ivan's acting really weird. Not like Ivan at all.

[Eerie music plays]

LUC: Maybe Suzi's an alien that took over his brain!

LILI: You two are being silly! Ivan's brain is fine. He's just in love.

SAM: In love! How is that fine?

SUZI: Ivan has told me so much about all of you. I can't wait for him to show me around 16 Hudson.

SAM: Ivan? You're still coming to the fair tomorrow, right?

IVAN: Oh, of course, Sam! We'll see you there.

[Light music plays]

SAM: We?

[Cheerful fair music plays]

DESCRIPTION: The next day, Lili holds a clipboard. She and Sam stand close to a Ferris wheel, and Luc and Lola stand with Nye-Nye, a woman who wears her grey hair in a bun.

LILI: Okay! Gather around the clipboard. Time to make a plan so we get everything done at the fair.

[Whoosh, balloon pops, ice cream squelches]

DESCRIPTION: At a dart game, a boy with short black hair throws a dart and pops a balloon.

SAM: I already have the perfect plan with Ivan. We're gonna have funnel cake with sugar, ride the Ferris wheel, funnel cake with sprinkles, win some prizes at the dart game, funnel cake with ice cream, and finally, funnel cake, chef's choice.

LUC: Sounds perfect!

[Luc chuckles]

SAM: And it starts now! There he is!

[Footsteps thump, door creaks, soft music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Ivan and Suzi board a car on the Ferris wheel, and Suzi closes the door.

SAM: Aw! I wanted to ride the Ferris wheel with Ivan. But he just got on it with Suzi.

LILI: You can still start your perfect day and then catch up with Ivan.

LUC: Yeah! Funnel cake?

[Upbeat music plays]

SAM: Funnel cake? Okay! Good idea!

[Sam munches]

DESCRIPTION: Luc, Lili, and Sam eat funnel cake.

SAM: Ivan can catch up and have two funnel cakes after we win some prizes at the—

[Gasps, light music notes play]

SAM: The dart game!

[Whoosh, balloon pops]

DESCRIPTION: At the dart game, Ivan throws a dart and pops a balloon.

IVAN: Ooh!

[Bear rustles, Ivan giggles, wings flap]

DESCRIPTION: The attendant gives Ivan a stuffed bear, and he gives it to Suzi. She smiles, and they touch their fingers together. Two robins fly overhead as Sam approaches Ivan and Suzi.

IVAN: Hi, Sam! Suzi and I were just about to take a boat ride. Come with us.

[Light music plays]

SAM: With Suzi? I, uh, no, it's okay. I just ate.

IVAN: Uh, too much funnel cake again?

[Chuckles]

IVAN: No problem. We can meet up later.

[Light music plays, footsteps patter, the music stops]

DESCRIPTION: Later, Luc, Lola, Lili, and Amala ride a spinning teacup ride. Sam sits alone on a nearby bench, holding a funnel cake. Nye-Nye walks over and sits beside him.

NYE-NYE: Is there something wrong with your food, Sam?

SAM: Yes! I should be having it with Ivan. But he's with Suzi.

[Soft music notes play, background chatter]

NYE-NYE: Oh.

SAM: I wish she never came to 16 Hudson. There must be a way to get rid of her.

NYE-NYE: You want to get rid of her? How?

SAM: Well, uh, I'll mail her a fake coupon for laser tag! Ha-ha!

SAM, SADLY: Ha-ha.

NYE-NYE: Oh, that's good! And there would be no laser tag!

SAM: And it would be a fake address, too.

DESCRIPTION: Nye-Nye nods.

NYE-NYE: Mmm-hmm. Suzi's new here, so she would definitely get lost.

SAM: Right! And if she finds her way back, I'll take care of that, too. I'll, uh, I'll, um—

NYE-NYE: Change all the locks!

[Nye-Nye laughs, Sam chuckles]

NYE-NYE: And never let her back in.

SAM: You mean, lock her outside? Without her P.J.’s or toothbrush, or bedtime stuffy?

NYE-NYE: If she's gonna hog Ivan, what else can we do?

[The music stops, birds sing]

SAM: But Nye-Nye, that would be mean!

NYE-NYE: Would it?

[Plate clunks, soft music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Sam puts his plate on the bench beside him.

SAM: Yes. Usually, we're nice to new people and try to make them feel welcome, like part of our family.

[NYE-NYE sighs]

NYE-NYE: I guess I got carried away.

DESCRIPTION: Sam picks up his plate.

SAM: Ha! I guess you did. I'm gonna be nice to Suzi. Give her a chance. Include her.

NYE-NYE: Well, if you think it's best.

[Sam munches]

DESCRIPTION: Sam walks away with his funnel cake and then returns with whipped cream around his mouth.

SAM: You didn't really want to be mean to Suzi, did you, Nye-Nye? You were just pretending.

DESCRIPTION: Nye-Nye wipes the whipped cream off Sam’s face.

NYE-NYE: I could tell you were feeling a little jealous of Suzi, so I just helped you remember what you already knew.

[Rustle]

DESCRIPTION: Sam hugs Nye-Nye.

SAM: Thanks, Nye-Nye.

[Suzi sighs, the music stops]

DESCRIPTION: On the building roof at night, Ivan and Suzi sit on a picnic blanket beneath the crescent moon.

SUZI: What a wonderful first day at 16 Hudson.

IVAN: Sure was. Except I was hoping we'd see more of Sam.

[Door creaks, soft music plays]

DESCRIPTION: A door opens, and Sam arrives, carrying his binoculars.

IVAN: Sam! There you are! Join us!

SAM: I, uh, I thought maybe Suzi would like to borrow my binoculars to look for alien planets.

SUZI: Thanks, Sam.

[Binoculars click, chime]

DESCRIPTION: Suzi looks through the binoculars. She points at a bright star in the sky.

SUZI: I see one already. Right there. It looks like a really bright star, but that's Jupiter.

SAM: Wow! You know about planets?

SUZI: A little. I keep hoping I'll see a Bloopian.

SAM: Did Ivan tell you? I was dressed as a Bloopian when we met.

SUZI: No! Bloopians are my favourite thing!

SAM: Mine too!

[Happy music plays, Sam chuckles]

DESCRIPTION: Sam and Suzi point at each other.

SAM: Then laser tag.

SUZI: Oh, I love laser tag. Some day, we'll convince Ivan to go with us.

[The music stops]

SAM: Ivan? Oh, yeah! We'll all go!

[Soft music plays]

IVAN: I had a feeling you two would get along. But thank you for welcoming Suzi like family, Sam.

[Upbeat music plays]

SAM: I was a little jealous at first, but not anymore. We're all gonna have so much fun together!

[Everyone laughs, upbeat music plays]
