[Chiming, slurping, munching, light music plays]
The Kid-E-Cats’ red car is parked in front of their café. Inside, the family sits at a table with a platter of cupcakes in the centre. Daddy looks at a tablet screen.
The narrator says, ONE DAY, MOMMY, DADDY, AND THE KITTENS WERE HAVING BREAKFAST AT THE KIDECATS CAFE.
Daddy Cat says, HMM, INTERESTING, IT SAYS HERE THERE'S A BIG EVENT HAPPENING NEXT WEEK. THE CATOPOLIS FAMILY CHALLENGE.
Pudding says, OH, WHAT'S A FAMILY CHALLENGE, DADDY?
[Slide whistle, exciting music plays, splashing, bells ringing]
In a thought bubble, the family paddles canoes, rides bicycles, and runs in the forest. Daddy Cat is at the front, holding a map.
Daddy Cat says, THAT'S WHEN A LOT OF FAMILIES COMPETE IN SOME GAMES. FIRST, THERE'S A BOAT RACE. THEN A BIKE RACE. THEN A RACE THROUGH THE WOODS.
[Slide whistle, cup clumping, popping]
The thought bubble disappears.
Cookie says, WOW, I WISH WE COULD DO ONE OF THOSE!
Daddy Cat says, HMM, THERE'S NO REASON WE CAN'T, LET'S DO IT!
[Candy gasping]
Candy says, AND OUR TEAM NAME CAN BE KIDECATS, LIKE OUR CAFE!
Mommy Cat says, AND I CAN MAKE OUR UNIFORMS WITH OUR TEAM NAME ON THEM!
Pudding says, IMAGINE IF WE WIN, THEN EVERYONE WOULD HEAR ABOUT OUR CAFE!
[Happy music plays]
The kittens say, SO AWESOME.
They hold hands and sing, MEWOW, MEWOW, MEWOW, MEWOW!
[Water splashing]
The following week, the family sits in canoes on a river.
The narrator says, SO, MOMMY MADE THEIR TEAM OUTFITS, AND THE WHOLE FAMILY JOINED THE BIG CHALLENGE THE FOLLOWING WEEK.
[Slide whistle, applause]
In a thought bubble, the family waves from a podium. Daddy Cat holds a trophy, and Mommy Cat holds a bouquet.
Pudding says, OKAY, WE HAVE TO FINISH IN FIRST PLACE, THAT WAY, EVERYONE WILL SEE THE CAFE LOGO WHEN WE'RE ON THE WINNERS' PODIUM.
[Slide whistle, popping]
On the shore, an announcer says, ON YOUR MARKS, GET SET...
[Whistle blaring, water splashing]
Candy asks, SO HOW DO THEY CHOOSE WHO WINS AT THE END?
Daddy Cat replies, FOR EVERY EVENT OUR FAMILY COMPETES IN, WE GET SOME POINTS. AT THE END, THEY FIGURE OUT WHICH FAMILY HAS THE MOST POINTS AND THEY WIN.
[Splashing, Daddy Cat grunting]
Cookie says, THEN WE'LL WIN THE FULL CHALLENGE! ONE, TWO, GO, TEAM! ONE, TWO, GO, TEAM!
[Splashing, family laughing]
The announcer waves a checkered flag as the family crosses the finish line.
The narrator says THEIR HARD WORK PAID OFF, AND THEY FINISHED FIRST PLACE IN THE BOAT RACE! NEXT UP WAS THE BIKE PART.
[Bicycles rattling]
The family rides their bicycles behind Daddy Cat.
Pudding says, ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS WIN THE BIKE RACE, THAT WAY WE'LL BE STANDING ON THE WINNER'S PODIUM FOR SURE!
[Bell dinging]
A Grandma Cat and a pink kitten ride past.
The cat family says, HUH?
Grandma Cat hits a rock, and her tire deflates.
Grandma Cat says, OH, OH MY!
[Bicycles rattling, birds singing]
The cat family stops beside Grandma Cat.
Mommy Cat says, UH, ARE YOU ALL RIGHT?
Grandma Cat says, OH, IT LOOKS LIKE I POPPED A TIRE ON THIS ROCK.
Daddy Cat says, GOOD THING WE BROUGHT THIS TIRE REPAIR KIT. HERE YOU GO!
The pink kitten says, THANKS A LOT, BUT WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX A TIRE.
Cookie says, OH, WE NEED TO HURRY, OTHERWISE WE WON'T COME IN FIRST!
Grandma Cat says, I GUESS WE'LL HAVE TO WALK ALL THE WAY HOME. LET'S GO.
[Rustling]
The Grandma Cat and pink kitten push their bicycles.
Daddy Cat says, DON'T GIVE UP NOW. I'LL HELP YOU FIX YOUR TIRE.
[Cookie sighing sadly, air hissing]
Daddy Cat pumps air into the patched tire.
The narrator says, WHILE DADDY HELPED FIX THEIR BIKE, THE OTHER TEAMS SPED ON AHEAD.
[Rustling, squeaking, checkered flag whooshing]
The other teams pass the cats, including a young kitten riding a tricycle and pulling a robot on a trail. Later, the cat family crosses the finish line ahead of Grandma Cat and the pink kitten.
Pudding says, AW, MAN, WE'RE NOT GONNA GET ANY POINTS AT ALL FROM THAT.
Cookie says, BUT WE CAN STILL WIN IF WE FIND OUR WAY THROUGH THE FOREST BEFORE ANYONE ELSE DOES.
[Rustling, bright music plays]
In the forest, Daddy Cat looks at a map. Mommy Cat and the kittens follow him.
The narrator says, MOMMY, DADDY, AND THE KITTENS MADE GOOD PROGRESS USING THEIR MAP IN THE WOODS.
Mommy Cat says, EVERYBODY KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN FOR A SPECIALLY MARKED TREE SOMEWHERE AROUND HERE THAT SHOWS THAT WE'RE CLOSE TO THE FINISH LINE.
Candy asks, SPECIAL LIKE THAT?
Candy stands beside a tree wrapped in red ribbon.
Daddy Cat says, EXCELLENT WORK, CANDY. NOW WE GO THAT WAY.
[Map rustling, distant crying, Mommy Cat gasping]
Mommy Cat says, OH, YOU HEAR THAT? SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE CRYING! WHAT IF THEY NEED OUR HELP?
[Child sobbing, leaves rustling, birds chirping]
An adult with curly hair stands beside the sobbing young kitten. Nearby, a cap-wearing cat looks in a bush.
The curly-haired cat says, HELLO, THERE. HAVE YOU SEEN A TOY ROBOT SOMEWHERE AROUND HERE? OUR SON BROUGHT IT TO THE FAMILY CHALLENGE, BUT HE'S LOST IT!
The young kitten says, IT'S MY FAVOURITE TOY.
[Sobbing]
Daddy Cat says, OH, I'M SORRY, BUT WE CAN HELP FIND IT, CAN'T WE, KITTENS?
Pudding says, BUT THEN THERE'S NO WAY WE'LL WIN!
Cookie says, YEAH, BUT IF I LOST MY FAVOURITE TOY, I'D WANT SOMEONE TO HELP ME.
Candy says, THEN WE HAVE TO DO THE RIGHT THING. WE'RE GONNA FIND THAT ROBOT.
Mommy Cat says, THAT'S VERY KIND, KITTENS.
[Upbeat music plays, leaves rustling, flapping]
Candy searches behind a rock, and Cookie looks beneath a bush. Pudding emerges from behind a bush wearing a bird’s nest on his head. A bird sits in the nest.
Pudding says, HUH?
[Grunting, leaves rustling, chuckling, beeping, rustling]
Mommy Cat and Daddy Cat bump heads. Cookie peers behind a log, and a nearby bush shakes.
Cookie says, HUH?
[Beeping, rustling, whirring]
Cookie parts the leaves on the bush and finds the robot bumping against a plant.
Cookie says, AHHAH!
[Beeping]
Cookie says, I FOUND IT!
[Footsteps pattering]
Cookie carries the robot back to the young kitten.
Cookie says, HERE.
[Clicking]
The young kitten says, MY ROBOT!
The curly-haired cat says, I CAN'T THANK YOU ALL ENOUGH.
Mommy Cat says, NO PROBLEM. LOOKS LIKE WE MIGHT NOT HAVE A SPOT ON THE WINNER'S PODIUM, BUT THERE'S NO REASON WE CAN'T STILL FINISH THE COMPETITION. COME ON!
[Footsteps running, applause]
A family of grey cats stands on the podium.
Cookie says, I'M SO SAD WE DIDN'T WIN. NOW NOBODY WILL KNOW ABOUT THE KIDECATS CAFE.
[Daddy Cat chuckling]
Daddy Cat says, I KNOW, BUT WE HAD A GREAT TIME, RIGHT? AND WE FOUND SOMEBODY'S TOY, AS WELL! BEBOP, BEEPBEEP.
[Kittens laughing, birds chirping, upbeat music plays]
The announcer says, AND BY REQUEST OF THE OTHER CHALLENGERS TODAY, OUR SPECIAL PRIZE FOR KINDNESS AND WILLINGNESS TO HELP OTHERS WILL BE AWARDED TO THE KIDECATS! WELL, COME ON UP!
Pudding says, HUH? BUT THAT'S HE MEANS US!
[Happy music plays]
The kittens say, SO AWESOME.
They hold hands and sing, MEWOW, MEWOW, MEWOW, MEWOW!
[Cheering, laughing]
The cat family stands on the podium. Mommy Cat holds a bouquet, and Daddy Cat holds a trophy with a heart. Later, other participants enter the café.
