Title: Kid-E-Cats.
Cookie and Pudding say, WE'RE CUTE!
Candy says, BUT I'M CUTER!
All three say, ME-WOW!
Episode title: The Sea Monster.
[Chiming, gulls calling, cheerful music plays, sand rustling]
A red flag flies on top of Grandpa Cat’s lighthouse. Nearby, the kittens play on the beach.
The narrator says, ONE DAY, WHILE THE KITTENS WERE STAYING AT GRANDPA'S HOUSE, THEY BUILT A BEAUTIFUL SAND LIGHTHOUSE ON THE BEACH.
[Waves splashing]
Pudding puts a red flag on top of the sand lighthouse.
Cookie says, IT'S AMAZING!
Pudding says, LET'S ALL PLAY WITH IT RIGHT NOW.
Candy says, THESE SAILOR KITTIES ARE READY FOR ADVENTURE BY THE OCEAN.
[Kittens laughing]
Grandpa Cat says, OH, KITTENS, IT'S DINNER TIME!
[Kittens groaning]
Candy says, HEY, I KNOW, WE CAN JUST COME AND PLAY WITH IT IN THE MORNING.
[Happy music plays]
The kittens say, SO AWESOME.
They hold hands and sing, MEWOW, MEWOW, MEWOW, MEWOW!
[Upbeat music plays, rustling, waves splashing, insects chittering, door squeaking]
The kittens pick up their pails and shovels and run away from the sand lighthouse. The waves move close to their creation. Night turns into day, and the kittens return to the beach.
The narrator says, THE NEXT MORNING, THE KITTENS RETURNED TO THE BEACH TO PLAY.
[Footsteps rustling, water splashing]
The kittens stand between rocks on the shore.
Candy asks, WHERE'S OUR LIGHTHOUSE?
Cookie says, IT WAS OVER THERE!
Pudding picks up the flag.
Pudding says, I THINK SOMEBODY SQUISHED IT. OH NO!
[Pudding whimpering]
Cookie asks, WHAT IF A BUNCH OF PIRATES DID IT?
[Slide whistle, pirates laughing, sword snicking, rustling, slide whistle, popping]
In a thought bubble, pirates point at the sand lighthouse. One draws his sword, and the others jump on the sand lighthouse. The thought bubble pops.
Pudding says, COOKIE, I DON'T THINK THERE ARE REAL PIRATES AROUND ANYMORE.
Candy asks, SO, WHO RUINED OUR LIGHTHOUSE, THEN?
Cookie says, WELL, IF IT WASN'T PIRATES, THEN IT MUST HAVE BEEN A BIG SEA MONSTER!
Pudding says, I HAVE HEARD THERE'S LOTS OF UNDISCOVERED THINGS IN THE OCEAN. MAYBE ONE OF THEM IS A SAND SMOOSHING MONSTER!
[Slide whistle, rustling, light music plays, slide whistle, popping]
In a thought bubble, a blue sea monster walks over the sand lighthouse and squishes it. The red flag falls on the sand, and the thought bubble pops.
Candy asks, WHY DON'T WE JUST BUILD A NEW LIGHTHOUSE?
[Waves splashing, footsteps rustling]
Pudding says, 'CAUSE THE SEA MONSTER MIGHT COME BACK AND WRECK IT LIKE BEFORE.
Cookie says, THEN WE'LL SCARE IT AWAY. IT WILL GO FIND ANOTHER LIGHTHOUSE TO SMASH.
[Rustling, rattling, waves splashing]
Pudding puts the flag on the new sand lighthouse. He runs and hides behind a rock with Candy and Cookie. Pudding picks up a rattle.
The narrator says, SO THE KITTENS BUILT A NEW LIGHTHOUSE, THEN HID TO WAIT FOR THE SEA MONSTER.
[Slide whistle, exciting music plays]
In a thought bubble, a blue sea monster walks out of the water, and the kittens run towards it, playing instruments.
Cookie says, AS SOON AS IT COMES OUT OF THE WATER, WE'LL MAKE A LOT OF NOISE, THEN IT WILL GET SCARED AND RUN AWAY.
[Slide whistle, popping]
The thought bubble pops.
Grandpa Cat says, AHEM.
[Kittens gasping, footsteps rustling, waves splashing]
Grandpa Cat says, AH, FOUND YOU. YOU WERE HIDING! WHAT ARE YOU KITTENS DOING HERE?
Candy whispers, WE HAVE TO BE QUIET. WE'RE WAITING FOR THE SEA MONSTER.
Grandpa Cat says, SEA MONSTER? OH MY, I DIDN'T KNOW WE HAD ANY OF THOSE HERE.
Pudding says, WE SURE DO, ONE OF THEM MUST HAVE SNUCK ONTO THE BEACH LAST NIGHT BECAUSE IT SMASHED OUR SAND LIGHTHOUSE.
Cookie says, SO WE BUILT A NEW LIGHTHOUSE AND NOW WE'RE WAITING FOR IT TO COME BACK SO WE CAN SCARE IT!
[Clanging, footsteps rustling]
Cookie hits a pot with a ladle, and Grandpa Cat walks to him.
Grandpa Cat says, OH, I THINK I KNOW THE MONSTER YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT. BUT IT'S NOT COMING NOW. WHY DON'T WE GO HAVE LUNCH? A FEW HOURS FROM NOW, WE'LL COME BACK AND I'LL SHOW YOU YOUR MONSTER.
The narrator says, AFTER LUNCH, GRANDPA AND THE KITTENS WENT BACK TO THE BEACH.
[Gull calling, light music plays]
Grandpa Cat and the kittens peer around the edge of a rock.
Pudding says, HMM, OUR LIGHTHOUSE IS STILL THERE. THAT MEANS THE SEA MONSTER HASN'T COME BACK YET.
Grandpa Cat says, NO, NOT YET. YOU SHOULD KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON IT, THE MONSTER WILL SOON COME TO SHORE.
[Light music plays, water splashing]
Waves wash over the sand lighthouse, and it falls apart.
The kittens say, A WAVE?!
Candy says, THE OCEAN IS THE ONE THAT DID IT!
[Footsteps rustling]
Grandpa Cat says, THAT'S EXACTLY RIGHT. IT WASN'T A SEA MONSTER. IT'S JUST SOMETHING THAT'S CALLED "HIGH TIDE."
Cookie asks, WHAT'S A HIGH TIDE?
[Slide whistle, upbeat music plays, water splashing, whooshing, slide whistle, popping]
In a thought bubble, arrows point from the Earth to the sun and the moon. The moon moves across the sky, and the tides rise over a beach. On the beach, the tide recedes, and an octopus puts on sunglasses. The thought bubble pops.
Grandpa Cat says, WELL, THE MOON MAKES GRAVITY THAT PULLS ON OUR EARTH, WHICH ALSO PULLS ON OUR OCEANS. THIS MAKES THE SEA RISE UP AND WASH ONTO THE SHORE, AND THAT'S WHAT WE CALL HIGH TIDE. THEN WHEN GRAVITY'S PULL GETS WEAKER AGAIN, THE WATER LEVEL GOES DOWN, AND THAT'S CALLED LOW TIDE.
Candy says, I HAVE A REALLY GREAT IDEA! WE'LL BUILD A NEW LIGHTHOUSE REALLY FAR FROM THE SEA! THEN IT WON'T GET WASHED AWAY.
Grandpa Cat says, GOOD THINKING, LITTLE ONE. BUT BEFORE YOU BUILD A NEW LIGHTHOUSE, WE SHOULD MAKE USE OF THE HIGH TIDE. LET'S GO SOON, BECAUSE THE HIGH TIDE IS THE VERY BEST TIME TO GO SAILING!
[Footsteps rustling]
Cookie says, THEN WE CAN ALL BE REAL SAILOR KITTIES!
[Happy music plays]
The kittens say, SO AWESOME.
They hold hands and sing, MEWOW, MEWOW, MEWOW, MEWOW!
[Door closing, opening, upbeat music plays, bell ringing]
The kittens run into the lighthouse, exit through a second door, wearing their lifejackets, and run onto Grandpa Cat's boat.
Grandpa Cat sings, NOW YOU'RE GOING ON ADVENTURES; TIME FOR SAILING ON THE SEA.
[Rustling, slide whistle, wheel clicking]
Grandpa Cat opens a map. In a thought bubble, the ship flies a pirate flag, and the kittens wear pirate hats.
The kittens sing, LIKE A BAND OF KITTY PIRATES, SO MUCH FUN FOR YOU AND ME.
Flying fish jump behind the boat.
Everyone sings, WIND'S BLOWING, WE'RE ROWING, KNOWING THAT WE'LL STAY AFLOAT. THERE'S NOTHING QUITE AS AWESOME…
Grandpa Cat sings, AS A SONG UPON A BOAT.
[Slide whistle, popping]
The thought bubble pops. Dolphins leap beside the ship. The kittens stand on a platform attached to the mast, and Pudding peers through a spyglass.
Everyone sings, FROM THE SEASHELLS ON THE SHORE TO THE DARKEST OCEAN FLOOR. HOW WE LOVE TO MAKE DISCOVERIES. ALL THE CREATURES OF THE DEEP, HOW I WONDER WHO WE'LL MEET. WHEN YOU'RE SAILING ON THE SEA…
[Bell dinging]
Grandpa Cat rings a bell.
Everyone sings, WITH YOUR FAMILY.
[Upbeat music continues]
Day turns into night, and moonlight reflects on the lake as the boat returns to the dock.
The narrator says, AND THAT'S HOW THE KITTENS LEARNED ALL ABOUT THE TIDES. AND GREW TO LOVE THE SEA EVEN MORE.
[Upbeat music plays]
