Cookie says, GET THOSE LEGS UP!
[Slide whistle, the music stops]
Cookie trips on the corner of a carpet, and Daddy Cat catches him.
Cookie says, WHOA!
Daddy Cat says, OOF! OH, KITTENS, YOU KNOW I MISS OUR MORNING RUNS TOO, BUT RUNNING INSIDE ISN'T A GOOD IDEA. THERE JUST ISN'T ENOUGH SPACE.
Mommy Cat says, ACTUALLY, THERE IS A WAY WE CAN RUN WITHOUT LEAVING THE HOUSE.
Everyone else asks, BUT HOW?
Mommy Cat asks, HAVE YOU ALL FORGOTTEN ABOUT THE RUNNING MACHINE THAT WE HAVE RIGHT UP THE STAIRS?
Daddy Cat replies, OH, MY LOVE, YOU'RE A GENIUS!

Candy asks, HOW IS IT?
[Cookie pants]
Cookie says, SO AWESOME, BUT SOMETHING IS MISSING.
Mommy Cat asks, WHAT COULD BE MISSING, COOKIE?
Cookie replies, OH YEAH, WHEN WE GO FOR A RUN IN THE PARK, THERE ARE BUSHES AND TREES ALL AROUND ME. EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL! BUT IN HERE, THERE'S JUST WALLS.
[Whooshing, clunking, upbeat music plays, drill whirring, shelf creaking, projector clunking, paper rustling, tape rustling, rubbing tape, clicking, gentle music notes play]
Later, the kittens carry plants into the room and arrange them around the running machine. Daddy Cat attaches a shelf to a wall with a drill. He puts a projector on the shelf, and Mommy Cat and Candy tape paper to the opposite wall. Daddy Cat turns on the projector, and a video moves along a tree-lined path.
Daddy Cat says, OH, I DOWNLOADED THIS RUNNING VIDEO FROM THE WEB. COOKIE, WHY DON'T YOU TRY RUNNING ALONG WITH IT?
[Footsteps pattering, beeping, whirring, giggling]
Cookie attaches the safety band and runs on the running machine.
Cookie says, IT'S JUST LIKE BEING IN THE PARK!

Candy says, COOKIE'S BEEN RUNNING FOR 10 MINUTES, WHEN IS IT GOING TO BE OUR TURN?
Cookie says, IN THE PARK, WE RAN FOR A WHOLE HOUR!
Mommy Cat says, BUT DARLING, IF EVERY ONE OF US RUNS FOR AN HOUR, THEN OUR MORNING EXERCISES WILL LAST UNTIL LUNCHTIME.
Daddy Cat asks, WHAT ELSE DO YOU SUGGEST? WE ONLY HAVE ONE RUNNING MACHINE, SO WE HAVE TO TAKE TURNS.
[Audience cheering, shouting, whistling, running footsteps pattering]
Later, in the living room, Pudding, Mommy Cat, Daddy Cat, and Candy watch runners in a race.
Mommy Cat asks, COOKIE, ARE YOU FINISHED ALREADY? YOU STILL HAVE 20 MINUTES ON THE CLOCK.
Cookie says, WHEN YOU GUYS LEFT, IT WAS BORING. I'M NOT USED TO RUNNING WITHOUT YOU. I LIKE HAVING EVERYBODY AROUND.
[Clicking]
Daddy Cat turns off the television.
Daddy Cat says, YEAH, BECAUSE EXERCISING TOGETHER IS JUST MORE FUN.
Cookie says, THEN WHY DON'T WE GO OUTSIDE AND RUN IN THE SNOW? THEN WE COULD EXERCISE TOGETHER.
[Ticking]
Candy says, OH, I DON'T KNOW. JUST LOOK OUT THERE! WHAT HAPPENS IF WE FALL?
[Slide whistle, footsteps rustling, snow rustling, upbeat music plays, kittens groaning, slide whistle, popping, ticking]
In a thought bubble, the kittens run on snow and sink. The thought bubble disappears.
Pudding says, I READ SOMEWHERE THAT WAY UP NORTH, CATS WEAR SPECIAL FOOTWEAR TO KEEP THEM FROM FALLING WHEN IT'S SNOWING OUTSIDE. WHY DON'T WE GET SOME?
[Slide whistle, blue cat and kittens giggling, soothing music plays]
In a thought bubble, the kittens and a blue cat wear snowshoes.
Mommy Cat says, BUT PUDDING, IT WOULD BE VERY HARD TO RUN IN SNOWSHOES.
[Grunting, boinging, panting, rustling]
In the thought bubble, the kittens run slowly, wearing the snowshoes. Someone skis down a hill behind them.
The skier says, WHEEHEE!
In the thought bubble, Candy says, I HAVE A GREAT IDEA!
[Slide whistle, popping]
The thought bubble disappears.
On the couch, Candy says, THERE'S SOMETHING MUCH BETTER THAN SPECIAL SHOES. SKIS!
[Ticking, slide whistle, upbeat music plays, rustling, slide whistle popping]
In a thought bubble, the skier and the blue cat give thumbs-up as the kittens ski past them. The skier and the blue cat wave, and the thought bubble disappears.
Daddy Cat says, WHAT A BRILLIANT IDEA, CANDY! WHY DIDN'T WE THINK OF IT BEFORE? INSTEAD OF GOING ON A RUN, TODAY WE'LL ALL GO FOR A SKI!
[Happy music plays]
The kittens say, SO AWESOME.
They hold hands and sing, MEWOW, MEWOW, MEWOW, MEWOW!
[Snow rustling, skis thumping]
In the park, Daddy Cat puts his skis on the ground and puts them on. The family cross-country skis together on the snowy path.
The narrator says, AND THAT'S HOW THE KITTENS LEARNED THAT THERE IS A WAY TO EXERCISE IN ANY KIND OF WEATHER. IN FACT, THEY LOVED SKIING TOGETHER SO MUCH, THEY KEPT ON DOING IT ALL THE WAY TO SPRING.
[Upbeat music plays]
