[Cheerful music plays, birds chirp]

DESCRIPTION: A path leads up a grassy hill to a town of brightly coloured houses. Cookie, an orange tabby, wears a blue striped shirt and a blue sailor hat with a picture of an anchor on it. Pudding, an orange tabby, wears a blue shirt and hat. Candy, an orange tabby, wears a red dress and bow.

NARRATOR: In this little town lives a kitten named Cookie, his big brother Pudding, and their little sister Candy. Lots of other kittens live here, too.

DESCRIPTION: Kittens wave happily.

NARRATOR: Cookie, Candy, And Pudding! Kid-E-Cats!

[Title] Kid-E-Cats.

COOKIE AND PUDDING: We're cute!

CANDY: But I'm cuter!

THE KITTENS: Me-wow!

[Episode Title] The Martian.

[Chimes, soothing music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Fluffy clouds float in the blue sky above a planetarium. Cars and a bus are parked in a lot in front of the building. Inside the planetarium, Daddy Cat, the kittens, and Chase stand in a room with models of the planets.

NARRATOR: One day, the kittens and their friend Chase went to the planetarium to take part in a game called "The Martian."

CHASE: And if we win the game, we'll win tickets to watch a real live rocket launch. Visiting the spaceport is my dream.

[Slide whistle, engine rumbles, upbeat music plays, zoom, bubble pops]

DESCRIPTION: In a thought bubble, a rocket launches. Chase jumps up and down excitedly as he watches. The bubble disappears.

COOKIE: We are guaranteed to win! We'll act exactly like real astronauts. Quickly and decisively.

CANDY: But real astronauts have to be careful as well because outer space can be really, really dangerous.

COOKIE: Right. And we will bravely overcome every danger.

[Heroic music plays, platform whirs]

DESCRIPTION: A host arrives wearing a spacesuit, and a platform rolls forward with four kitten-sized spacesuits.

HOST: Ha-ha! And here comes our great space team. Welcome, kittens! Time to get into your spacesuits!

CHASE: Spacesuits!

DESCRIPTION: The kittens hold hands and dance. Later, they stand with the host and Daddy Cat.

KITTENS: So awesome! Me-wow, me-wow, me-wow, me-wow!

[Solemn music plays, rocket ship whooshes]

DESCRIPTION: A screen shows a kitten on the surface of Mars and a rocket ship arriving.

HOST: The game is simple. One of you will play an astronaut on Mars. And the rest of you will be the crew of the rocket ship sent to save them.

DADDY CAT: A rocket ship? Isn't that dangerous?

HOST: No need to worry, it's not a real rocket, it's a simulator.

PUDDING: Can I be the astronaut on Mars? I'd get too sick in the rocket ship.

HOST: Yes, you can! And your daddy will wait in our cozy café.

DADDY CAT: Hm?

[Café beeps]

DESCRIPTION: Two neon coffee cup signs glow above the flying saucer-shaped café with a ladder leading to the entrance in the floor.

DADDY CAT: Oh, haha.

[Screen scrapes, upbeat music plays, footsteps patter]

DESCRIPTION: Daddy Cat smiles and waves as he walks away. The screen retracts to the ceiling.

HOST: Follow me, kittens!

NARRATOR: So, Pudding was taken to Mars.

[Light music plays, robot treads whir]

DESCRIPTION: The host leads Pudding to a room with an igloo-shaped space station. A small robot with pointed cat ears rolls to Pudding.

HOST: And welcome to Mars, Astronaut Pudding. This is your assistant robot, Astrocat 3.

PUDDING: Oh, cool, it's a real cat robot.

ASTROCAT 3: Hello, Pudding, high-five.

[Hands slap, Pudding giggles, hat rustles]

DESCRIPTION: Pudding and Astrocat 3 high-five. Pudding puts his green hat on the head of Astrocat 3.

NARRATOR: While Chase, Cookie, and Candy were brought to the rocket.

[Footsteps patter, door clanks, engine whirs, wheels rumble, tense music plays, seats whir, clank]

DESCRIPTION: Chase, Cookie, and Candy look up at the rocket. They run up the steps, and the door slides shut behind them. A large mechanical arm rolls to the rocket. Inside the rocket, Cookie, Chase, and Candy roll on chairs to a control panel and screen.

CHASE: Let's test our communication system and see how Pudding is doing on Mars.

[Button clicks, static hisses, Astrocat 3 beeps]

DESCRIPTION: Astrocat 3 appears on the screen.

CANDY: Uh, what's that? And what's it doing wearing our brother's cap?

COOKIE: An evil Martian robot must've taken Pudding prisoner. We have to go rescue him!

CHASE: Cookie, you have to buckle your seatbelt first.

[Seatbelts click]

COOKIE: I thought you only had to buckle up in the car.

CANDY: Pudding's in the viewscreen, look!

PUDDING: Hi there! Oh, I see you've already met Astrocat here.

CANDY: Ah, then he's not an evil Martian robot?

PUDDING: Of course it isn't. It's very friendly and super smart.

COOKIE: Sorry. Hi there, Astro-Kitty. Nice to meet you, friend.

[Static hisses, Astrocat 3’s treads whir]

PUDDING: We have work to do here. A big Martian construction project. Bye.

[Computer beeps]

DESCRIPTION: Pudding turns off the computer.

PUDDING: Proceed, colleague.

ASTROCAT 3: Meow.

[Astrocat 3’s treads whir, light music plays, mechanical arm clanks, rocket ship rumbles]

DESCRIPTION: Pudding and Astrocat 3 pick up two shovels near a pile of sand, a sandcastle, a bucket, and a small flag. In the other room, the mechanical arm moves the rocket ship.

COOKIE: Awesome! Like a carnival ride!

CHASE: And they train real-live astronauts on rides just like this one.

[Mechanical arm clanks, whoosh, rocket ship clanks, static hisses, Candy gasps]

DESCRIPTION: The mechanical arm moves the rocket ship in circles and turns it on the side. The host appears on the screen.

HOST: Congratulations, rocket crew! Your launch was successful. You're in space, so it's okay for you to undo your seatbelts.

[Static hisses, seatbelt clicks]

DESCRIPTION: Candy, Chase, and Cookie are all attached to two ropes. Chase unfastens his seatbelt and floats up in the air.

CHASE: Oh.

[Candy giggles]

CANDY: Oh, Chase, you're flying!

[Chase whooshes, thuds]

DESCRIPTION: Chase kicks off the walls and flies overhead.

CHASE: Hooray! I feel totally weightless! There's no gravity in space, so there's nothing to hold you down. You can fly! Try it, it's the coolest.

[Chase laughs, seatbelts click, bangs]

DESCRIPTION: Candy and Cookie fly up and bounce off each other.

CANDY AND COOKIE: Oh! Ow! Ouch! Ow! Ouch!

CANDY: It doesn't seem that cool after all.

[Rope creaks]

DESCRIPTION: Cookie dangles upside down on his rope.

COOKIE: Yeah, it's safer to hang like this.

[Chase whooshes, thuds, upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Chase pushes off the wall and lands near Candy. He holds a ladder and then pushes away gently.

CHASE: Hey, you just need to practice a little. I learned all about how to do this when I went to kitty space camp last summer. You have to push off gently, use your hands to slow yourself down.

[Whoosh, thumps]

DESCRIPTION: Cookie and Candy push off the walls gently and fly across the room.

COOKIE: Whoa.

CANDY: Whoa.

[Cookie laughs]

CANDY: Ah.

[Everyone laughs, Puddings chuckles]

DESCRIPTION: Chase, Candy, and Cookie fly through the air. On Mars, Pudding and Astrocat 3 build a large city in the sand.

PUDDING: Ha-ha. I didn't realize being on Mars would be this much fun.

[Tense music plays]

HOST OVER SPEAKER: Attention, Astronaut Pudding! A sandstorm is approaching your base.

[Wind blows, flag flaps]

DESCRIPTION: Nearby, a fan activates and the flag over the space station flutters.

ASTROCAT 3: We should hide, Kitten Pudding.

PUDDING: And abandon our Martian city? No way!

[Wind gusts]

ASTROCAT 3: There are no other options, Kitten Pudding!

[Wind gusting, door slams, Astrocat 3 whirs, other kittens giggle, kittens whoosh, upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Pudding runs into the space station, and Astrocat 3 follows him. On the rocket ship, the other kittens float in the air.

COOKIE: All this flying around is making me hungry. So, Chase, do they have a fridge here?

[Door clicks]

DESCRIPTION: Chase opens a panel with juice boxes and paste tubes. He gives Candy a tube.

CHASE: You don't need a fridge for space food. Look, try this out!

CANDY: Oh, but this is toothpaste, not food. Aw.

[Slide whistle, gentle music plays, bubble floats, kittens whoosh, bubble pops]

DESCRIPTION: In a thought bubble, food and drinks float away from Candy and Cookie.

CHASE: You can't use a plate in zero gravity, and liquids turn into floating bubbles. That's why they always put astronaut food in tubes and special bags.

[Lips smack, chiming music plays]

DESCRIPTION: They eat from the tubes.

COOKIE: Mm! My space toothpaste tastes exactly like yummy apple pie.

CANDY: And mine tastes like cream pudding.

CHASE: And mine's veggie stew. Are you guys thirsty?

[Boxes rustle]

DESCRIPTION: Chase throws juice boxes to the others.

COOKIE: My favourite! Lemonade!

CANDY: And I have strawberry juice!

[Kittens slurp, static hisses]

DESCRIPTION: Pudding appears on the screen.

PUDDING: Astronaut Pudding calling all space kittens, please respond.

[Cookie and Candy gasp, boxes thump, wind gusts]

DESCRIPTION: Chase, Candy, and Cookie drop their juice boxes and float to the screen.

PUDDING: How are you guys? Are you near yet? We've got a bad storm here on Mars.

ON THE SCREEN, CANDY: Sorry, Pudding, we got a teeny bit distracted.

ON THE SCREEN, COOKIE: But we'll be there right away.

PUDDING: Please hurry up.

[Static hisses, seatbelts click, button beeps, upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: In the rocket ship, the three kittens fasten their seatbelts.

COOKIE: Let's get flying!

[Rocket ship whooshes, screen beeps, upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: On the screen, asteroids fly through space.

CHASE: Cookie, look, a bunch of asteroids.

COOKIE: All right. Then I'll just have to fly around them.

[Rocket ship whooshes, asteroid thuds, alarm beeps, kittens gasp]

DESCRIPTION: An asteroid hits the front of the rocket ship.

CANDY: You're being too hasty, Cookie. You have to be more careful.

[Asteroids whoosh, mechanical arm clacks]

DESCRIPTION: Candy takes the control stick and pilots the rocket ship.

(Whirring slowly)

COOKIE: Candy, come on, left.

CANDY: I got this, Cookie, just waiting for the exact right time.

[Zap, alarm beeps, everyone gasps]

DESCRIPTION: An exclamation appears on the rocket ship screen.

HOST: Kittens, your rocket needs repairs. You'll have to go outside into space to fix it.

[Panel whirs, hatch clicks, toolbox clanks]

DESCRIPTION: Cookie opens a hatch on the top of the rocket ship, and he and Chase walk towards a flashing letter X. Candy watches with her head poking out of the hatch. Cookie puts a toolbox on the rocket ship.

CHASE: All we have to do is put a patch on. Right here.

[Upbeat music plays]

COOKIE: Easy as pie.

[Glue squirts, patch rustles]

DESCRIPTION: Cookie squirts glue on a patch. He puts it on the X and one of his boots.

COOKIE: Just one and done.

[Cookie grunts]

COOKIE: Oh, I think I'm kinda stuck.

[Patch rustles, boots clank]

DESCRIPTION: Chase pulls Cookie, and Cookie pulls off the patch.

CHASE: You can't rush everything in space.

CANDY: Like I said earlier, you've got to be extra careful out here.

[Glue squirts, rhythmic music plays slowly, screen beeps, boots clank, patch rustles]

DESCRIPTION: Candy carefully puts glue near the edges of the patch and the centre. Cookie and Chase glance at each other. Candy puts her hands on her hips and smiles down at the patch. She walks around the flashing X on the ship and puts the patch down. It slides off the X.

CANDY: Oh.

CHASE: You didn't get it on time, Candy. The glue dried up. You can't hesitate so much in space.

COOKIE: You can't rush, but you also can't take ages. How exactly are we supposed to act in space?

[Upbeat music plays]

CHASE: Well, like a team, together. But we haven't been acting like much of a team, so we're probably going to fail.

[Chimes]

CANDY: I have a really good idea. Cookie, you hold the patch in place there while I smear the glue on it. And you can tell us when the time is right to attach it.

[Boots clank, glue squirts, upbeat music plays, patch rustles]

DESCRIPTION: Chase and Cookie nod. Cookie holds the patch, and Candy puts the glue on. Chase nods, and Cookie puts the patch over the flashing X.

NARRATOR: And the kittens fixed the rocket quickly, working as a team.

[Everyone cheers, laughs, wind gusts]

DESCRIPTION: On the rocket ship, Chase, Cookie, and Candy jump happily. On Mars, Pudding and Astrocat 3 play chess in the space station.

PUDDING: Hm.

[Pudding sighs, the music stops]

PUDDING: My rescue rocket still hasn't arrived yet. Should we step outside and check?

[Slide whistle, funnel cloud gusts, bubble pops]

DESCRIPTION: In a thought bubble, sand covers part of the space station. A funnel swirls past and covers Pudding with sand. The thought bubble disappears.

ASTROCAT 3: I cannot recommend that. The storm is still quite large.

[Pudding sighs]

PUDDING: It's a shame Candy isn't here. She always has the best great ideas.

[Door whooshes, upbeat music plays]

PUDDING: Huh?

CANDY: Martian Astronaut Pudding?

[Gasps]

DESCRIPTION: Candy stands in the doorway.

CANDY: Look, we're here!

[Boots clank]

DESCRIPTION: Chase and Cookie look into the space station. Pudding runs outside and hugs Candy.

PUDDING: Yay!

[Everyone laughs, wind gusts]

PUDDING: Look, our Martian city's still there. I thought it had blown away for sure.

DESCRIPTION: The host and Daddy Cat arrive.

HOST: Well, Pudding, all of the storms on Mars are under our control.

[Remote control beeps, door whooshes]

DESCRIPTION: The host pushes a button, and the fan shuts off, and the space station door closes.

HOST: We make sure our Martian game is 100 percent safe.

COOKIE: That's great! And you also make it super fun!

[Boots clank]

DESCRIPTION: Cookie jumps excitedly.

DADDY CAT: It's wonderful, but next time I wanna be the one on Mars.

[Everyone laughs, upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Later, in the room with the models of the planets, Candy, Cookie, Pudding, and Chase wear their street clothes.

HOST: Kittens, congratulations. You succeeded in the game and won these tickets to visit the spaceport.

[Tickets rustle]

DESCRIPTION: The host gives the tickets to Candy, and she shows the other kittens.

PUDDING AND COOKIE: Oh!

[Footsteps clank]

HOST: Plus, a super special prize. A helmet autographed by famous astronauts.

[Astrocat 3’s treads whir]

DESCRIPTION: Astrocat 3 brings a signed helmet to the kittens.

ASTROCAT 3: Great job, kittens.

CANDY: Know what? Let's give the helmet to Chase, he'd love it.

COOKIE: Yeah, right! We learned to be a great astronaut team because of him.

PUDDING: Yeah.

[Footsteps clank, thud]

DESCRIPTION: Chase open-mouthed as the kittens bring him the helmet. He takes it from Cookie and smiles.

CHASE: Thank you, guys.

[Upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Cookie, Candy, and Pudding hold hands and dance.

KITTENS: So awesome! Me-wow, me-wow, me-wow, me-wow!

[Rocket rumbles]

DESCRIPTION: Daddy Cat, Pudding, Cookie, Candy, and Chase watch the rocket launch. Chase wears the autographed helmet.

NARRATOR: And that's how the kittens learned that as long as they work together, they can handle any difficulty, even in outer space.

[Upbeat music plays]
