Messy sniffs the tulips and recoils.
Messy says, BLAH!
Messy sniffs the laundry.
Messy says, YUCK. TOO CLEAN.
SMELLS JUST LIKE FLOWERS.
[Sighs]
Messy says, I'M SURE I SAW ANOTHER ONE.
Messy jumps off the sofa and throws toys over the arm.
[Slide whistle, toy squeaks, rustling]
Messy says, AH, YES. THERE IT IS.
Messy sniffs a green sock.
[Sniffing]
Messy says, MMM. SMELLY SOCKS.
WHY IS IT THAT SOME SOCKS SMELL
GOOD...
Messy sniffs the dirty sock.
[Sniffing]

Messy falls towards a town. He bounces on large buttons and a trampoline. He jumps on the grass and stops by Felix and Zoe. They both hold their noses and look around.
[Slide whistle, boings, gentle music plays]
Messy says, HIYA, FELIX.
HIYA, ZOE.
Zoe says, HI, MESSY. BLEH!
Zoe holds her nose.
Zoe says, THERE'S A TERRIBLE
STINK IN THE AIR.
Felix says, UGH.
AND WE HAVE TO FIND OUT WHERE
IT'S COMING FROM.
WHOA-HO! IT'S WHIFFY.
Zoe asks, CAN'T YOU SMELL IT, MESSY?
IT'S ALL OVER OKIDO.
[Upbeat music plays, Messy sniffs]
The smell drifts across Okido. Bakers run away from cupcakes moving on a conveyor belt. Cars stop moving on the roads.
[Birds chirp, bakers mutter, tires screech]
Messy says, MMM! I WAS JUST
WONDERING WHAT THAT
DELICIOUS SMELL WAS.
IT REMINDS ME OF SOMETHING.
NOW, WHAT IS IT? IT'S ON THE TIP
OF MY TONGUE.
Zoe says, VERY FUNNY, MESSY.
IT SMELLS HORRIBLE.
LIKE A REALLY SMELLY CHEESE.
Messy says, YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!
FANTASTIC. THAT'S IT.
IT'S SUPER CHEESY.
BA-LA-BA-LA BOOM-BOOM!
Zoe says, SOMETHING MUST BE
CAUSING IT. COME ON.
LET'S GO AND FIND ZIM, ZAM AND
ZOOM. THEY MIGHT KNOW WHERE
IT'S COMING FROM.
[Messy whistles]
Messy, Zoe and Felix jump into Okidoodle.
Messy says, LET'S SKIDOODLE, OKIDOODLE.
Messy drives to a city. He drives Okidoodle into a tube and arrives at Zim, Zam and Zoom’s laboratory. Messy, Zoe and Felix enter the laboratory. Felix holds his nose.
[Upbeat music plays, engine whirrs, tires screech, whirring, door whooshes]
Zoe says, HI, ZIM, ZAM AND ZOOM.
IT'S STINKY OUT THERE.
Zam says, YES. IT SMELLS ABSOLUTELY
TERRIBLE IN OKIDO.
IT SMELLS SO BAD THAT I'VE
INVENTED A MACHINE TO FIND
WHERE THE SMELL IS COMING FROM.
I CALL IT MY SEE-THE-SMELL
MACHINE.
Zam shows the others a pink and green machine with a long spinning blue and yellow horn-like tube on the front.
[Whirring]
Zam says proudly, TA-DA!
Messy says, WOW, ZAM.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
[Whirring]
Zam says, WELL, THIS BUTTON
HERE TURNS IT ON.
NO, NO, NO, MESSY.
Messy says, OH, BUTTON!
[Gentle music plays]
Zam says, NO, MESSY.
DON'T TOUCH THAT BUTTON.
Messy groans, OH.
Felix asks, WHAT DOES YOUR
SEE-THE-SMELL MACHINE DO, ZAM?
Zam says, WELL, SMELLS ARE INVISIBLE,
BUT THE SEE-THE-SMELL MACHINE
LETS YOU SEE THEM, AND WHERE
THEY'RE COMING FROM.
Zam spins the machine.
[Beeping, banging, slide whistle]
Felix asks, WHAT IS SMELL, ZIM?
Zim says, WELL, SMELL IS ONE OF OUR
SENSES, FELIX.
On a screen, a boy sniffs a flower.
[Sniffing, upbeat music plays]
Zam says, LIKE SIGHT. AND TASTE.
On the screen, the flower changes to a cupcake and the boy licks his lips.
[Slide whistle, slurping]
Zoe says, I KNOW HOW WE SMELL,
BUT WHAT ARE WE SMELLING?
WHAT ARE SMELLS MADE OF?
Zam says, TEENY-WEENY THINGS
CALLED MOLECULES.
Messy says, MOLECULES.
I KNEW THAT.
Felix asks, BUT WHY DO SOME MOLECULES
SMELL SO BAD?
On the screen, the boy sniffs a sock.
[Slide whistle, sniffing]
Zam explains, WELL, THINGS THAT SMELL
BAD USUALLY MEAN THEY'RE NOT
GOOD TO EAT.
Messy says, OH, BUT I LIKE THE
STINKY SMELL.
{Beeping, upbeat music plays]
Zim says, WELL, YOU'RE A MESSY MONSTER,
SO WHAT SMELLS GOOD TO YOU MIGHT
NOT SMELL GOOD TO OTHERS.
Zam says, OKAY, MESSY.
NOW, YOU CAN PRESS THIS BUTTON HERE.
Messy cheers, WOO-HOO-HOO-HOO! WHEE!
Messy presses a red button.
[Click, whirring]
Zam says, WELL DONE, MESSY.
The machine shakes and shows a picture of cheese.
[Beeping]
Zam says, AHA. I THINK IT WANTS
US TO FOLLOW IT. IT SEEMS TO HAVE
PICKED UP SOMETHING. OH, HERE WE GO.
Messy, Zam, Zoom, Zim, Zoe and Felix follow the machine on a sidewalk. It stops in front of a cheese shop.
[Whirring, squeaking, upbeat music plays]
Zam says, OOH. OH.
The machine turns towards an ice cream cone, then turns to a display of cheese.
[Beeping]
Zoe asks, DO YOU THINK IT WILL LEAD
US TO THE SOURCE OF THE SMELL?
Zam says, YES.
The machine moves away from the cheese and the group follows it.
[Zam chuckles]
Zam says, YES, I HOPE SO, ZOE.
Zim says, YOU MIGHT SAY WE NEED
TO FOLLOW OUR NOSES.
A pink line on a map of Okido shows the machine moving out of the city and towards a mountain range.
[Zim laughs, machine wheels squeak]
Zam says, YOU DON'T HAVE A NOSE, ZIM.
Zim says, OH.
[Laughter]
The group follows the machine over a bridge by a waterfall.
[Water splashes, beeping]
Zam says, THE SMELL'S GETTING
STRONGER. WE'RE DEFINITELY
GETTING NEARER TO IT.
The group turns a corner just as Lofty wakes up. Lofty is a rock giant who wears yellow overalls and a white shirt.
[Beeping, Lofty yawns]
Lofty says, OOH.
HELLO, LITTLE PEOPLE.
WHAT A LOVELY SURPRISE.
I HAVEN'T HAD ANY VISITORS
FOR AGES.
Zoe says, LOFTY.
Zoe and Felix hold their noses.
Zim says, OOH, LOFTY.
Zim says, WELL, HELLO THERE, LOFTY.
Lofty crosses his ankles. Green vapour rises from his feet.
[Beeping]
Lofty says, OOH, AND WHAT'S THAT
WONDERFUL LITTLE MACHINE WITH
THE FLASHING LIGHTS?
[Beeping, whirring, tense notes play]
Zoe says, UH, WHAT, THIS MACHINE?
UM, IT'S, UH...
Felix says, ...IT'S A SMELL-FINDER.
WE'RE FINDING SMELLS.
Zoe says, THAT'S RIGHT.
[Giggles uncomfortably]
Zoe says, LOTS OF DIFFERENT SMELLS.
Lofty says, OH.
HOW INTERESTING. WHY?
[Beeping, upbeat music plays]
Messy says, I LOVE YOUR SMELLY FEET,
LOFTY. I THINK THE STINK IS SUPER-YUMMY
SMELLING. MY FAVOURITE SMELL IN THE
WORLD IS THE SMELL OF CHEESY SOCKS.
AND YOURS ARE SUPER-SMELLY CHEESY.
Lofty says, OH, NO.
OH, BUT I DON'T WANT TO HAVE
SMELLY FEET. DO THEY REALLY
SMELL THAT STRONG?
[Gagging, beeping, whirring]
Zoe says, UM, LOFTY, WHAT MESSY
MEANS IS...
Felix says, ...YES, LOFTY, THEY ARE SMELLY.
THE SMELL HAS REACHED ALL THE
WAY TO OKIDO.
[Tense music plays]
Lofty asks, OH, BUT WHY?
WHY DO THEY SMELL SO BAD?
Zoe says, PERHAPS THEY HAVE
TOO MANY, UM, MOLECULES.
Zim says, DELICATE SUBJECT.
UH, WHEN DID YOU LAST CHANGE
YOUR SOCKS, LOFTY?
Lofty says, HUH?
WELL, THAT'S EASY.
I NEVER CHANGE MY SOCKS.
Lofty holds up a smelly sock and Messy licks it.
[Slurping]
Lofty says, SEE? THEY'RE NOT EVEN
WORN OUT YET. WHY WOULD I?
Lofty dangles his smelly sock closer to the group.
[Whimpering, machine beeps]
Zim says, OH, DEAR.
IF YOU DON'T KEEP YOUR FEET
CLEAN AND CHANGE YOUR SOCKS,
LOFTY, BACTERIA BUILD UP, AND
THAT MAKES THEM SMELL
REALLY STRONG.
Zoom transforms into a screen and shows two feet.
[Whirring, upbeat music plays softly]
Zam explains, THE BACTERIA LIVE ON
YOUR FEET, AND THEY ARE INVISIBLE
AND HARMLESS, BUT THEY CAN MAKE
QUITE A STRONG SMELL.
On the screen, a magnifying glass shows the bacteria on the feet.
[Beeping]
Zim says, THE MACHINE KEPT SHOWING
CHEESE BECAUSE THE SAME BACTERIA
THAT ARE ON CHEESE ARE ALSO ON FEET.
[Slide whistle, Zim laughs]
Lofty asks, OH, DO YOU THINK THAT'S
WHY NO ONE VISITS ME UP HERE?
BECAUSE MY FEET SMELL OF CHEESE?
Zoe says, UM, WELL...
Felix says, ...MAYBE.
[Machine wheels squeak]
Messy says, MOLECULES ARE COOL, AND
BACTERIA SMELL SUPER BRILLIANT,
ON CHEESE AND ON FEET.
Messy jumps and lands on the machine. His foot lands on a blue button and pushes it.
[Click, whirring]
Messy says, OOP. HUH.
Messy jumps off the machine.
[Whirring, upbeat music continues]
Messy says, WHOOPS.
The machine sucks the smelly sock into the horn-like tube.
[Whooshing]
Messy says, OH!
I WOULD'VE EATEN THOSE.
Zam says, OH, WELL DONE, MESSY.
YOU PRESSED THE SUCTION BUTTON.
[Zoe sniffs]
Zoe says, THE SEE-THE-SMELL MACHINE
SUCKED THE SMELL AWAY.
[Beeping, whirring, squeaking, whooshing, machine wheels squeak, upbeat music continues]
Felix says, OH, NO. NOW, IT'S SUCKING
ALL THE OTHER SMELLS AWAY, TOO.
Zoe says, NOT THE FLOWER SMELL.
Zim says, OH, DEAR.
THERE GOES THE APPLE SMELL.
THE OVERLOAD OF SMELL MUST HAVE
BEEN TOO MUCH FOR IT.
The machine spins and vapour flows out of the tube.
[Beeping, whirring]
Messy says, OOH, SMELLY SOCK FLOWERS!
MY FAVOURITE.
Zam says, OH, DEAR. NOW, IT'S SPITTING
THE SMELLS OUT.
[Beeping]
Messy follows the machine.
[Whooshing, beeping]
Messy says, WOO! CHEESE.
[Messy sniffs]
Messy says, MMM.
Messy tries to lick and bite the vapour.
[Slurp]
Felix says, I DON'T THINK YOU CAN
EAT THE SMELLS, MESSY.
Messy asks, OH, WHY NOT?
Zam says, BECAUSE SMELLS ARE
INVISIBLE MOLECULES.
IT WAS ONLY MY MACHINE THAT
HELPED US SEE THEM.
[Beeping]
Messy grumbles, AW.
The machine stops beneath Lofty’s feet and a flower appears on the screen of the machine. It sprays pink flower-shaped vapour onto Lofty’s feet.
[Beeping, dramatic music plays]
Lofty says, OOH.
THAT SMELLS NICE.
[Zoom beeps]
Zoe says, LOFTY'S FEET STILL SMELL,
BUT THIS TIME, THEY SMELL LOVELY.
Felix and Zoe run to Lofty’s feet and sniff them.
[Sniffing, upbeat music plays]
Felix says, HEY!
THEY SMELL OF FLOWERS.
[Messy sniffs]
Messy says, YUCK.
WHAT A SHAME.
Lofty says, FLOWERS?
OH, I LOVE FLOWERS.
OH, BUT HOW DO I KEEP THEM
SMELLING OF FLOWERS?
Zoe says, YOU HAVE TO KEEP
THEM CLEAN, LOFTY. WE WASH
OUR FEET EVERY DAY.
Felix says, AND YOU NEED TO CHANGE

[Gentle music plays]
Messy offers, AND I CAN HELP YOU,
AHEM, LOOK AFTER YOUR OLD
SOCKS, LOFTY.
Lofty says, OH, THANKS, EVERYONE.
MY FEET DO FEEL GOOD.
VERY FRESH AND CLEAN NOW.
AND I'M GOING TO KEEP THEM THAT
WAY, SO ALL MY FRIENDS WILL COME
BACK AND VISIT.
Zam says, WE'D BETTER PUT THE CORRECT
SMELLS BACK.
[Beeping, upbeat music plays]
Zim says, GOOD IDEA, ZAM.
Messy says, ALL THESE SMELLS HAVE

[Whirring, thump]
In his house, Messy reappears on the sofa beside the smelly green sock.

[Sniffing]

Messy says, OH, BUT I LIKE THE
STINKY SMELL.
{Beeping, upbeat music plays]
Zim says, WELL, YOU'RE A MESSY MONSTER,
SO WHAT SMELLS GOOD TO YOU MIGHT
NOT SMELL GOOD TO OTHERS.
Zam says, OKAY, MESSY.
NOW, YOU CAN PRESS THIS BUTTON HERE.
Messy cheers, WOO-HOO-HOO-HOO! WHEE!
Messy presses a red button.
[Click, whirring]
Zam says, WELL DONE, MESSY.
The machine shakes and shows a picture of cheese.
[Beeping]
Zam says, AHA. I THINK IT WANTS
US TO FOLLOW IT. IT SEEMS TO HAVE
PICKED UP SOMETHING. OH, HERE WE GO.
Messy, Zam, Zoom, Zim, Zoe and Felix follow the machine on a sidewalk. It stops in front of a cheese shop.
[Whirring, squeaking, upbeat music plays]
Zam says, OOH. OH.
The machine turns towards an ice cream cone, then turns to a display of cheese.
[Beeping]
Zoe asks, DO YOU THINK IT WILL LEAD
US TO THE SOURCE OF THE SMELL?
Zam says, YES.
The machine moves away from the cheese and the group follows it.
[Zam chuckles]
Zam says, YES, I HOPE SO, ZOE.
Zim says, YOU MIGHT SAY WE NEED
TO FOLLOW OUR NOSES.
A pink line on a map of Okido shows the machine moving out of the city and towards a mountain range.
[Zim laughs, machine wheels squeak]
Zam says, YOU DON'T HAVE A NOSE, ZIM.
Zim says, OH.
[Laughter]
The group follows the machine over a bridge by a waterfall.
[Water splashes, beeping]
Zam says, THE SMELL'S GETTING
STRONGER. WE'RE DEFINITELY
GETTING NEARER TO IT.
The group turns a corner just as Lofty wakes up. Lofty is a rock giant who wears yellow overalls and a white shirt.
[Beeping, Lofty yawns]
Lofty says, OOH.
HELLO, LITTLE PEOPLE.
WHAT A LOVELY SURPRISE.
I HAVEN'T HAD ANY VISITORS
FOR AGES.
Zoe says, LOFTY.
Zoe and Felix hold their noses.
Zim says, OOH, LOFTY.
Zim says, WELL, HELLO THERE, LOFTY.
Lofty crosses his ankles. Green vapour rises from his feet.
[Beeping]
Lofty says, OOH, AND WHAT'S THAT
WONDERFUL LITTLE MACHINE WITH
THE FLASHING LIGHTS?
[Beeping, whirring, tense notes play]
Zoe says, UH, WHAT, THIS MACHINE?
UM, IT'S, UH...
Felix says, ...IT'S A SMELL-FINDER.
WE'RE FINDING SMELLS.
Zoe says, THAT'S RIGHT.
[Giggles uncomfortably]
Zoe says, LOTS OF DIFFERENT SMELLS.
Lofty says, OH.
HOW INTERESTING. WHY?
[Beeping, upbeat music plays]
Messy says, I LOVE YOUR SMELLY FEET,
LOFTY. I THINK THE STINK IS SUPER-YUMMY
SMELLING. MY FAVOURITE SMELL IN THE
WORLD IS THE SMELL OF CHEESY SOCKS.
AND YOURS ARE SUPER-SMELLY CHEESY.
Lofty says, OH, NO.
OH, BUT I DON'T WANT TO HAVE
SMELLY FEET. DO THEY REALLY
SMELL THAT STRONG?
[Gagging, beeping, whirring]
Zoe says, UM, LOFTY, WHAT MESSY
MEANS IS...
Felix says, ...YES, LOFTY, THEY ARE SMELLY.
THE SMELL HAS REACHED ALL THE
WAY TO OKIDO.
[Tense music plays]
Lofty asks, OH, BUT WHY?
WHY DO THEY SMELL SO BAD?
Zoe says, PERHAPS THEY HAVE
TOO MANY, UM, MOLECULES.
Zim says, DELICATE SUBJECT.
UH, WHEN DID YOU LAST CHANGE
YOUR SOCKS, LOFTY?
Lofty says, HUH?
WELL, THAT'S EASY.
I NEVER CHANGE MY SOCKS.
Lofty holds up a smelly sock and Messy licks it.
[Slurping]
Lofty says, SEE? THEY'RE NOT EVEN
WORN OUT YET. WHY WOULD I?
Lofty dangles his smelly sock closer to the group.
[Whimpering, machine beeps]
Zim says, OH, DEAR.
IF YOU DON'T KEEP YOUR FEET
CLEAN AND CHANGE YOUR SOCKS,
LOFTY, BACTERIA BUILD UP, AND
THAT MAKES THEM SMELL
REALLY STRONG.
Zoom transforms into a screen and shows two feet.
[Whirring, upbeat music plays softly]
Zam explains, THE BACTERIA LIVE ON
YOUR FEET, AND THEY ARE INVISIBLE
AND HARMLESS, BUT THEY CAN MAKE
QUITE A STRONG SMELL.
On the screen, a magnifying glass shows the bacteria on the feet.
[Beeping]
Zim says, THE MACHINE KEPT SHOWING
CHEESE BECAUSE THE SAME BACTERIA
THAT ARE ON CHEESE ARE ALSO ON FEET.
[Slide whistle, Zim laughs]
Lofty asks, OH, DO YOU THINK THAT'S
WHY NO ONE VISITS ME UP HERE?
BECAUSE MY FEET SMELL OF CHEESE?
Zoe says, UM, WELL...
Felix says, ...MAYBE.
[Machine wheels squeak]
Messy says, MOLECULES ARE COOL, AND
BACTERIA SMELL SUPER BRILLIANT,
ON CHEESE AND ON FEET.
Messy jumps and lands on the machine. His foot lands on a blue button and pushes it.
[Click, whirring]
Messy says, OOP. HUH.
Messy jumps off the machine.
[Whirring, upbeat music continues]
Messy says, WHOOPS.
The machine sucks the smelly sock into the horn-like tube.
[Whooshing]
Messy says, OH!
I WOULD'VE EATEN THOSE.
Zam says, OH, WELL DONE, MESSY.
YOU PRESSED THE SUCTION BUTTON.
[Zoe sniffs]
Zoe says, THE SEE-THE-SMELL MACHINE
SUCKED THE SMELL AWAY.
[Beeping, whirring, squeaking, whooshing, machine wheels squeak, upbeat music continues]
Felix says, OH, NO. NOW, IT'S SUCKING
ALL THE OTHER SMELLS AWAY, TOO.
Zoe says, NOT THE FLOWER SMELL.
Zim says, OH, DEAR.
THERE GOES THE APPLE SMELL.
THE OVERLOAD OF SMELL MUST HAVE
BEEN TOO MUCH FOR IT.
The machine spins and vapour flows out of the tube.
[Beeping, whirring]
Messy says, OOH, SMELLY SOCK FLOWERS!
MY FAVOURITE.
Zam says, OH, DEAR. NOW, IT'S SPITTING
THE SMELLS OUT.
[Beeping]
Messy follows the machine.
[Whooshing, beeping]
Messy says, WOO! CHEESE.
[Messy sniffs]
Messy says, MMM.
Messy tries to lick and bite the vapour.
[Slurp]
Felix says, I DON'T THINK YOU CAN
EAT THE SMELLS, MESSY.
Messy asks, OH, WHY NOT?
Zam says, BECAUSE SMELLS ARE
INVISIBLE MOLECULES.
IT WAS ONLY MY MACHINE THAT
HELPED US SEE THEM.
[Beeping]
Messy grumbles, AW.
The machine stops beneath Lofty’s feet and a flower appears on the screen of the machine. It sprays pink flower-shaped vapour onto Lofty’s feet.
[Beeping, dramatic music plays]
Lofty says, OOH.
THAT SMELLS NICE.
[Zoom beeps]
Zoe says, LOFTY'S FEET STILL SMELL,
BUT THIS TIME, THEY SMELL LOVELY.
Felix and Zoe run to Lofty’s feet and sniff them.
[Sniffing, upbeat music plays]
Felix says, HEY!
THEY SMELL OF FLOWERS.
[Messy sniffs]
Messy says, YUCK.
WHAT A SHAME.
Lofty says, FLOWERS?
OH, I LOVE FLOWERS.
OH, BUT HOW DO I KEEP THEM
SMELLING OF FLOWERS?
Zoe says, YOU HAVE TO KEEP
THEM CLEAN, LOFTY. WE WASH
OUR FEET EVERY DAY.
Felix says, AND YOU NEED TO CHANGE
YOUR SOCKS EVERY DAY, TOO.
[Gentle music plays]
Messy offers, AND I CAN HELP YOU,
AHEM, LOOK AFTER YOUR OLD
SOCKS, LOFTY.
Lofty says, OH, THANKS, EVERYONE.
MY FEET DO FEEL GOOD.
VERY FRESH AND CLEAN NOW.
AND I'M GOING TO KEEP THEM THAT
WAY, SO ALL MY FRIENDS WILL COME
BACK AND VISIT.
Zam says, WE'D BETTER PUT THE CORRECT
SMELLS BACK.
[Beeping, upbeat music plays]
Zim says, GOOD IDEA, ZAM.
Messy says, ALL THESE SMELLS HAVE
MADE ME SO HUNGRY.
I'M GOING TO GO HOME FOR A
SNACK. BYE-BYE.
Zoe and Felix say, BYE, MESSY.
[Whirring, thump]
In his house, Messy reappears on the sofa beside the smelly green sock.
[Birds chirp]
Messy says, AH. SMELLS ARE FUNNY.
YOU CAN'T EAT THEM, YOU CAN'T
SEE THEM, AND THE THINGS THAT
I THINK SMELL GOOD, ZOE AND
FELIX DON'T SEEM TO LIKE AT ALL.
BUT ONE THING'S FOR SURE: SMELLS
CAN MAKE YOU REALLY HUNGRY.
NOW, WHERE DID I PUT THAT...
[Sniffing]
Messy says, ...SOCK? HA-HA!
[Messy sniffs sock]
Messy says, OOH..,NOW, THAT DOES
SMELL GOOD. BYE-BYE.
[Upbeat music plays]
Messy shouts, BA-LA-BA-LA BOOM-BOOM!
