[Playful orchestral music]
DESCRIPTION: In an animation, Posy, a brown-haired mouse, steps forward.
POSY: Pip!
DESCRIPTION: Pip, a grey-haired rabbit, steps forward.
PIP: Posy!
[Both giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip and Posy grab each other’s hands and dance together. Pip wears a long-sleeved white-and-green striped shirt and jeans. Posy wears a blue-and-red T-shirt with a blue-and-white polka-dot skirt. Pip carries Posy on his back. Posy tosses her toy frog, Froggy, high in the air. She catches Froggy as Pip’s toy pig, Piggy, lands in Pip’s hand.
PIP: Oh!
[Both giggle]
POSY: Come on!
BOTH SAY: Let’s play!
[Both giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip and Posy run together.
[Title] Pip and Posy.
[Upbeat music plays, Pip and Posy giggle, Posy giggles, hums]
DESCRIPTION: In the playing spot, Pip and Posy draw on hollowed eggshells with the tops missing. Posy draws blue eyes on hers.
POSY: My cress head is gonna look so good!
[Markers scratch]
DESCRIPTION: Pip draws with a red marker.
PIP: Mine too!
POSY: Done!
[Marker taps]
DESCRIPTION: Posy draws a purple mouth on her egg and then puts down the marker.
POSY: I'm going to call you...
[Posy gasps]
POSY: Cressie Bessie!
[Posy giggles]
POSY: Time for your cotton wool, Bessie.
[Seeds rattle]
DESCRIPTION: Posy places Cressie Bessie in an eggcup, adds the cotton to the shell, and sprinkles seeds on top.
POSY: Boop. A little seedy sprinkle...
[Packet rustles, water drips, bottle taps]
DESCRIPTION: Posy puts a seed packet on the table and drips water from her water bottle onto the seeds and cotton. She puts the bottle back on the table.
POSY: And a nice drink.
[Posy squeals]
POSY: I can't wait until you grow loads of cressy hair!
[Pip giggles, marker taps]
DESCRIPTION: Pip puts his egg in an eggcup and puts down his marker.
PIP: And I can't wait to make some egg and cress sandwiches. Mmm! Meet Eggmund!
[Posy giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Pip turns his egg, Eggmund, towards Posy. Eggmund has googly eyes, a red mouth, and thick, downturned black eyebrows.
POSY, AS CRESSIE BESSIE: Nice to meet you, Eggmund!
[Both giggle]
PIP: Quick, let's put them in the window!
POSY: Aren't you forgetting something?
PIP: Uh...
[Pip gasps]
PIP: The seeds!
[Pip giggles, tapping, water splashes]
DESCRIPTION: Pip puts Eggmund on the table, fills it with cotton, sprinkles seeds on top, and pours water over the seeds.
POSY: Hey, careful!
[Both giggle, exclaim, eggcup taps]
DESCRIPTION: Posy and Pip put Cressie Bessie and Eggmund on the windowsill.
[The music stops]
POSY: Boop. There you go. You can enjoy the view while you grow lots of beautiful hair.
[Pip and Posy giggle]
PIP: Come on, let's play!
[Footsteps patter, Posy giggles, crickets chirp]
DESCRIPTION: Pip runs away from the window, and Posy follows him. Day turns into night, and the next morning, Posy drops water on Cressie Bessie as Pip stacks blocks.
PIP: Posy, hurry up!
[Pip and Posy roar, blocks clatter, both giggle, crickets chirp]
DESCRIPTION: Later, Pip and Posy knock over the block tower. Day turns to night, and an insect crawling across the outside of the window starts as it notices Eggmund and Cressie Bessie. The next day, Frankie dances in the playing spot as Zac walks across the room, carrying a plate. Zac slips on a block. In the window, Eggmund has sprouts on the cotton and Cressie Bessie, who sits in shadow, has only one sprout.
ZAC: Whoa!
[Thump]
DESCRIPTION: Food slips off Zac’s plate, and Frankie catches it.
FRANKIE: Yes!
ZAC: Oh, thanks, Frankie!
[Crickets chirp, Posy pants]
DESCRIPTION: Zac hugs Frankie. Later, Frankie turns off the lights and leaves. The next morning, Posy arrives and runs to the windowsill. A shadow covers Cressie Bessie, who has one sprout. Eggmund sits in direct sunlight, with many sprouts growing in the cotton.
POSY: Oh, it's been days and days, Cressie Bessie!
[Posy gasps, rustling, light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Posy picks up Cressie Bessie.
POSY: Aw, your hair's hardly grown at all, and Eggmund has loads. That's not fair, I took way more care than Pip.
[Posy sighs, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Posy picks up Eggmund. She looks at both the eggshells.
POSY: Hmm... Let's borrow Eggmund's for a bit, just to see what you'd look like.
[Posy hums, cotton rustles, giggles, egg cups tap]
DESCRIPTION: Posy switches the cotton and puts Eggmund’s spout-filled cotton in Cressie Bessie. She puts both eggcups back on the windowsill and puts her hands against her cheeks.
POSY: Cressie Bessie, you look amazing!
PIP: Yay!
[Posy gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Pip walks to the window.
PIP: Are the cress heads ready?
POSY: Oh! Pip...Hi!
PIP: Oh, Eggmund's hair's hardly grown.
POSY: Actually—
[Pip gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Pip points at Cressie Bessie.
PIP: But Cressie Bessie looks amazing! Whoa!
[Light music plays]
POSY: Yeah, she, um... really does!
DESCRIPTION: Pip grabs Eggmund from the windowsill.
PIP: C'mon, let's play with them.
[Posy giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Posy takes Cressie Bessie and follows Pip.
POSY: Okay!
[Both imitate car engines, wheels scrape, Posy giggles, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Pip and Posy drive Cressie Bessie and Eggmund around in cars on a small wooden stage.
PIP: Wow! Look at Bessie's hair jiggle. Shame yours doesn't look as good, Eggmund.
[Pip giggles, Posy giggles uncomfortably, tense music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Posy looks away from Pip. She glances down at the frowning expression on Eggmund.
POSY: Shall we play... something else?
PIP: Oh, okay.
[Upbeat music plays]
PIP: Ooh, let's be hairdressers, 'cause Cressie Bessie's got such brilliant hair.
POSY: Um... sure!
[Bubbling]
DESCRIPTION: A fish in a tank looks at Eggmund and releases bubbles from their mouth. The fish swims away. At the other end of the table, Pip holds a comb and stands in front of Cressie Bessie.
PIP: So, Ms. Bessie, what style would you like today?
DESCRIPTION: Pip gently combs Cressie Bessie’s hair sprouts.
PIP: A nice parting? Or, ooh! A fancy fringe?
[Posy giggles]
POSY: Just a trim, please!
[Scissors snip]
DESCRIPTION: Pip leans towards Cressie Bessie, holding a pair of scissors.
PIP: One "just a trim" coming right up! Nope! Can't do it.
[Scissors snip, clatter]
DESCRIPTION: Pip puts the scissors on the table.
PIP: She's perfect the way she is.
[Tense music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Posy glances at the frowning face on Eggmund. She moves Cressie Bessie and places Eggmund in front of Pip.
POSY: Why don't we give Eggmund a turn?
[Light music plays]
PIP: Hmm, can't really do anything with one bit of cress.
[Pip sighs]
PIP: I wonder why Eggmund's hair didn't grow as well as Bessie's.
[Tense music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Posy glances at the frowning face on Eggmund.
POSY: Um, I don't know. But maybe he'd look good... in a lovely hat!
[Posy giggles awkwardly, light music plays]
PIP: Hmm.
DESCRIPTION: Posy places a blue ribbed plastic bottle cap on Eggmund.
POSY: What about this?
PIP: Hmm, it's not very Eggmund.
[Cap rattles]
DESCRIPTION: Pip takes the bottle cap off and puts it on the table. He reaches into a craft supply cart, takes out a yellow star, and puts it on Eggmund.
PIP: Too shiny.
[Posy gasps, supplies clatter]
DESCRIPTION: Posy puts a pink pom pom on Eggmund.
POSY: Oh, this is nice!
PIP: Nope, too fluffy. Nothing really goes with one weeny strand of hair.
[Pip sighs]
DESCRIPTION: Pip flicks the sprout on Eggmund back and forth, then covers Eggmund with an empty yogurt cup.
POSY: Pip, that's much too big!
PIP: He looks better like that.
[Rustling, sad music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Pip walks away and sits on a chair by a table.
PIP: No hair to see anyway. I wish I'd taken more care of him like you did with Bessie. Guess I'm just rubbish at growing cress.
[Posy grunts]
POSY: Oh, but you're not rubbish at growing cress, I am! I... swapped Cressie's cress with Eggmund's!
[The music stops]
PIP: What? But Posy, why would you do that?
POSY: It's just... Eggmund looked so good, and I wanted Cressie Bessie to look the same, but...look, we can swap back again!
[Rustling]
DESCRIPTION: Posy returns the cotton full of sprouts to Eggmund.
POSY: There! All better, right?
[Rustle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip picks up Eggmund and turns his back on Posy.
PIP: I can't believe you took his hair and pretended it was yours.
POSY: I'm sorry, Pip. You should play with Eggmund, now he's back to how he's supposed to be. I'll sit here with Bessie.
[Chair creaks, Pip sighs, Pip imitates a car engine, Posy sighs, egg cup scrapes, Pip gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Posy sits at the table and puts the cotton with a single sprout in Bessie Cressie, and stares at it. Pip drives Eggmund in a car on the stage, then stops when he notices Posy flicking the sprout on Cressie Bessie. She pushes the eggcup aside and rests her cheek on her hand on the table.
[Upbeat music plays]
PIP, AS EGGMUND: Hello! Wow! I like your hair, Cressie Bessie! In fact, I think I want mine like that, too!
POSY: Why would Eggmund want hair like this?
PIP: Sometimes it's nice for friends to have the same thing, especially best of friends.
[Posy giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Pip taps Posy’s nose.
POSY: Aww.
POSY, AS CRESSIE BESSIE: Are you sure, Eggmund?
PIP: Look at his face, he can't wait!
[Both giggle, scissors snip]
DESCRIPTION: Pip and Posy run to the table with the fish tank, and Pip stands with Eggmund in front of him. He holds scissors in his left hand.
PIP: Ready for your new look, Eggmund?
[Posy groans, scissors snip]
DESCRIPTION: Posy flinches and peeks through her fingers as Pip cuts the cress. Later, Cressie Bessie and Eggmund each have one sprout. Eggmund has a smiling mouth with raised eyebrows. Pip and Posy sit with the eggshells between them, each holding a sandwich.
POSY: You were right, Pip! Cressie Bessie and Eggmund look even better with matching hairdos.
PIP: And even better, we get to eat egg and cress sandwiches!
[Pip giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Pip eats his sandwich.
POSY: Oh, yeah!
DESCRIPTION: Posy eats her sandwich.
PIP: Mmm.
