DESCRIPTION: In an animation, Posy, a brown-haired mouse, steps forward.
POSY: Pip!
DESCRIPTION: Pip, a grey-haired rabbit, steps forward.
PIP: Posy!
[Both giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip and Posy grab each other’s hands and dance together. Pip wears a long-sleeved white-and-green striped shirt and jeans. Posy wears a blue-and-red T-shirt with a blue-and-white polka-dot skirt. Pip carries Posy on his back. Posy tosses her toy frog, Froggy, high in the air. She catches Froggy as Pip’s toy pig, Piggy, lands in Pip’s hand.
PIP: Oh!
[Both giggle]
POSY: Come on!
BOTH SAY: Let’s play!
[Both giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip and Posy run together.
[Title] Pip and Posy.
[Happy music plays, Pip and Posy giggle]
DESCRIPTION: In a snowy playground, Pip and Posy wear their winter jackets, boots and mittens. Posy wears an orange tuque with a pom-pom on top and holds a ping-pong paddle with a picture of a palm tree on it. Pip holds a paddle that features a picture of the sun.
PIP: Here comes a Pip ball!
[Pip grunts, paddle smacks, snow rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Pip throws a snowball at Posy. She hits it with her paddle, and the snowball crumbles.
POSY: Whoosh!
[Posy laughs]
PIP: Hey, you broke it!
[Pip and Posy laugh, snow crunches]
DESCRIPTION: Posy drops her paddle in the snow.
POSY: Ohh! Did you hear that?
[Snow crunches, both laugh]
DESCRIPTION: Pip drops his paddle in the snow.
PIP: Whoop-- crunch!
[Lively music plays, snow crunches]
DESCRIPTION: Pip and Posy take turns dropping their paddles in the snow, leaving a trail behind them.
POSY: Whoop-- crunch!
[Both giggle]
PIP: Whoop-- crunch!

[Snow crunches, both giggle]

DESCRIPTION: Pip and Posy continue dropping their paddles in the snow. Behind them, Jamila leaves the playing spot and closes the door.
POSY: Whumpy whoop-- crunch!
[Snow crunches, Posy giggles]
PIP: The bat goes munch!
[Snow crunches, both giggle, footsteps crunch, Jamila hums softly, light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Pip drops his paddle on the snow. Jamila walks past the garden and discovers bird tracks in the snow.
JAMILA: Ohh!
[Jamila giggles]
JAMILA: Where have you hopped to, little birdy?
DESCRIPTION: Jamila follows the bird tracks and discovers the first paddle print in the snow near a swing set.
JAMILA: Ohh!
[Pip and Posy giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Nearby, Posy and Pip stand beneath a tree, holding their paddles.
JAMILA: Pip! Posy! Come and see!
POSY: Ohh!
[Tap, Posy and Pip giggle, footsteps crunch]
DESCRIPTION: Posy and Pip lean their paddles against the tree and run to Jamila.
JAMILA: Look at these strange footprints.
PIP: Huh? Ooh.
[Pip giggles]
PIP: I suppose they do look like footprints.
JAMILA: Hmm, I wonder what could have made them.
[Posy gasps]
POSY: Maybe some kind of mysterious creature!
[Posy giggles, upbeat music plays]
JAMILA: Ooh! Come on, let's follow them and find out!
[Footsteps crunch, Pip giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Jamila follows the paddle trail.
PIP: Great idea, Jamila. Ooh, what a fun game! A search for a mysterious creature.
[Posy giggles]
POSY: I'll be on lookout!
[Pip and Posy giggle, Posy beeps]
DESCRIPTION: Posy holds her hands beside her eyes, imitating the look of scanning goggles.
JAMILA: Hmm... the footprints are very big.
[Jamila gasps]
JAMILA: The creature must be huge!
PIP: Maybe it's as big as a tree! Or a house!
POSY: No, a tree on top of a house!
[Posy and Jamila giggle, Jamila gasps]
DESCRIPTION: The paddle trail ends.
JAMILA: Ohh, they've stopped. Where-- where could it have gone?
[The music stops]
POSY: Umm, maybe it can jump! Really far!
[Everyone laughs]
JAMILA: Yes! I'll see if I can find where it landed.
[Footsteps crunch, Jamila giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Jamila runs ahead, looking at the snow.
POSY: This is so much fun! Shame we didn't make more footprints.
[Upbeat music plays, Pip gasps]
PIP: I can make some more!
POSY: Oh, yeah! Me and Jamila will keep exploring while you "whoop-- crunch"!
[Posy giggles, Posy gasps, pail rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Posy runs to a yellow pail, picks it up, and carries it towards a bush.
PIP: Hmm...
[Posy giggles, inhales deeply, roars, Jamila gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Posy holds the pail in front of her face and roars into it.
JAMILA: What was that?
[Bush rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Posy looks towards Pip and Jamila over the top of the bush and points behind the playing spot.
POSY: I think it was the mysterious creature! It came from over there!
[Pip giggles, upbeat music plays]
POSY: Let's go and see!
[Jamila gasps, giggles, snow crunches, Posy imitates whirring, beeps, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Pip watches Jamila run across the playground, then picks up his paddle and drops it. Behind the playing spot, Posy holds up her hands, imitating goggles, as she looks at the snow. Jamila searches beside her.
JAMILA: Hmm, no mystery creature here.
[Posy giggles quietly]
JAMILA: That noise was so strange!
DESCRIPTION: Posy nods.
POSY: Maybe it's got a huge trumpety trunk!
[Posy imitates elephant trumpeting, Posy and Jamila giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Posy moves her right arm like an elephant’s trunk.
PIP SHOUTS: I found more footprints!
[Jamila and Posy gasp, Posy giggles, footsteps rustle]
DESCRIPTION: Jamila and Posy run to Pip.
PIP: See?
[Jamila gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Jamila looks at a new paddle trail by a seesaw.
JAMILA: How did I miss these? I was just looking here.
PIP: The mystery creature must have only just made them!
JAMILA: Ooh, then it must be really close!
[Upbeat music plays, Pip and Posy giggle, footsteps crunch]
DESCRIPTION: Jamila follows the trail to a bush behind a park bench, and Pip and Posy follow her.
JAMILA: Look! They go behind those bushes. Maybe that's where it lives.
[Footsteps crunch]
DESCRIPTION: Jamila follows the trail.
JAMILA WHISPERS: We'll have to be very quiet.
[Posy gasps quietly]
POSY: The bushes! The perfect place for a nest.
PIP: Ohh!
[Pip giggles, Posy giggles, sticks clatter, sticks thump]
DESCRIPTION: Posy runs behind the bush and picks up sticks. She drops them onto the snow.
POSY: Uhh... Boop! Hmm...
[Posy gasps, snow rustles, Posy giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Posy makes a snow angel and then rolls side to side.
JAMILA: Posy?
[Posy gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Posy sits up and looks at Jamila and Pip.
JAMILA: What are you doing?
POSY: Aww, you weren't meant to see yet.
JAMILA: See what?
POSY: I was making the mystery creature's nest.
POSY: Ta-da!
[Snow crunches]
DESCRIPTION: Jamila walks to the nest.
JAMILA: But... why are you making it? I'm sure the mystery creature can make its own nest.
[Light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Posy looks at Pip.
POSY: Umm, you do know the mystery creature isn't real?
JAMILA: Of course it's real! We saw its footprints!
[Footsteps rustle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip picks up the paddles.
PIP: Oh, no. We made them with these.
[Snow crunches, rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Pip drops a paddle in the snow, then picks it up.
PIP: See?
JAMILA: But what about the noise?
POSY: Oh, I made that with a bucket!
[Posy giggles, roars]
JAMILA: Oh. I see.
[Footsteps crunch, snow crunches]
DESCRIPTION: Jamila’s shoulders slump, and she walks away from her friends with her eyes downcast. Pip drops a paddle and looks at Posy.
PIP: Jamila! We thought we were all playing a-- a fun pretend game.
JAMILA: It wasn't pretend for me.
[Footsteps crunch, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Jamila walks away.
POSY: Oh, she's really upset. We didn't mean to trick her.
[Posy sighs, paddle thumps, snow crunches]
DESCRIPTION: Posy sits in the snow, resting her chin on her paws. Pip drops his paddle and sits beside her.
PIP: I know, but Jamila really loves animals. She must have been so excited to think we'd found a totally new one.
POSY: Hmm...
DESCRIPTION: Posy nods.
POSY: I wish we could make it up to her.
PIP: How? We can't make the mystery creature real.
POSY: Hmm...
[Pip sighs, footsteps rustle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip stands and walks away.
PIP: Come on.
POSY: Huh?
[Posy gasps, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Posy picks up her paddle, then looks at the paddle prints in the snow.
POSY: Pip! Wait! Maybe we can!
PIP: Huh?
[Posy giggles, snow crunches, Pip gasps, Jamila munches, rustle, core thumps, light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Posy steps in the paddle snow prints and moves from foot to foot. Nearby, Jamila sits on the park bench eating an apple. She stands and drops the core into a litter box.
JAMILA: Ohh!
[Footsteps crunch]
DESCRIPTION: Jamila finds a bird trail and follows it.
JAMILA: Ohh.
[Bird chirps]
DESCRIPTION: A brown bird turns and looks up at Jamila.
JAMILA: So that's where you are.
[Bird chirps]
DESCRIPTION: Jamila follows the bird as it hops in the snow. The bird stops in a paddle print and flaps its wings. Jamila smiles.
JAMILA: Huh? Don't be scared. Those footprints aren't real.
[Jamila gasps, bird chirps, snow crunches]
PIP, IN A DEEP VOICE: Are you sure?
[Bird chirps, Pip grunts, Posy laughs, roars, snow crunches]
DESCRIPTION: Pip walks around the corner of the playing spot, wearing the paddles like snowshoes and carrying Posy on his back. Both have purple face paint, and Posy wears sticks as antlers. Pip walks towards Jamila, and the bird hops away.
JAMILA: Pip? Posy? What are you doing?
POSY, IN A DEEP VOICE: Pip and Posy aren't here. I'm the mystery creature!
[Snow crunches]
DESCRIPTION: Pip walks in place.
PIP, IN A DEEP VOICE: See? I really do exist!
[Pip grunts, snow crunches, Jamila laughs]
DESCRIPTION: Pip walks past Jamila, leaving footprints in the snow. Each footprint has three toes, including the paddle handle and two toes taped onto each paddle.
JAMILA: Hello, mystery creature! Have you got a real name?
POSY: Oh, umm...
POSY, IN A DEEP VOICE: You discovered me, why don't you give me one?
JAMILA: Oh. You're, uhh, "Snowzy Pipaposyus."
[Jamila laughs, Pip and Posy gasp]
PIP AND POSY: I love it!
[Exclaiming, top rattles]
DESCRIPTION: Pip backs up and hits a spinning top with the back of a paddle.
JAMILA: Oh, careful!
[Snow crunches]
PIP: Oops! The Snowzy Pipaposyus is very big but can't see very well.
JAMILA: Don't worry!
[Jamila laughs]
JAMILA: Just follow my footprints!
[Snow crunches, Posy roars, everyone laughs]
DESCRIPTION: Jamila leaves her footprints wide apart in the snow, and Pip follows her across the playground.
