The Game Catchers sing, THAT'S RIGHT

The Game Catchers sing, YEAH!

The Game Catchers run into their headquarters and startle Mr. Moustache. Mr. Moustache wears a blue suit with a red bowtie. His long blue moustache is darker at the pointed ends. Mr. Moustache has four arms and wears large round eyeglasses. He sits on a stool in front of a computer built into a large claw machine. The top of the machine has a claw hanging over small light blue game spheres. Text reads, “Directors: Andrea Bozzetto, Branko Rakic.”

The Game Catchers shout, GOOD MORNING!

Mr. Moustache says, OH!
GOOD MORNING!

[He chuckles]

The Game Catchers colourful headquarters has a large telescope and colourful tubes at the top. Inside the headquarters, Boxy stands with his arms crossed. Kate stands in front of him and Dino, Nina and Pigi sit around him.

[Playful music plays]

Boxy says, NO, NO, NO!

Kate says, PLEASE, BOXY, PLEASE?

Boxy says, NO, NO, NO.

Kate says, PLEASE!
COME ON, BOXY.

Boxy says, NO, NO, NO.

Kate says, PLEASE?
PRETTY PLEASE?

[Boxy sighs]

Boxy says, ALRIGHT.

Kate stands behind Boxy and winds him.

[Boxy inhales, winding, giggling]

A jack-in-the-box bounces out of Boxy’s open box top.

[Boing, laughter, clapping]

Mr. Moustache says, GAME CATCHERS,
COME QUICK! I MAY HAVE FOUND
A GAME PLANET.

A white planet with pastel green, pink, teal, lilac and orange spiraling rocky outcroppings appears on the computer screen. Colourful trees grow on the surface. The walls on the rocky outcroppings have white drawings.

[Upbeat music plays, chiming]

Mr. Moustache says, HMM, ALL THESE
DRAWINGS SEEM TO HAVE BEEN DONE
BY CHILDREN.

AND WHERE THERE ARE CHILDREN...

Dino, Boxy, Kate and Nina say, THERE ARE GAMES!

Mr. Moustache asks, READY TO GO?

Nina, Boxy, Kate and Dino cheer, YEAH!

[Pigi coos]

Soon, the Game Catchers stand in a tube.

Nina, Boxy, Dino and Kate say, THERE'S A NEW GAME
TO CATCH, GO!

[Pigi coos]

They fly up the tube and emerge from the headquarters in their individual spaceships.

[Rhythmic music plays]

Boxy, Nina, Kate and Dino sing, LET'S TAKE
OFF EXPLORING,
THROUGH SPACE OUR SHIP
IS SOARING.
AS WE SEARCH FOR GAMES
AND NEW FRIENDS.

The Game Catchers stop their spaceships at a red traffic light. They wait for four crabs to scuttle past and the light turns green.

[Tires screech, tapping, snapping, whirring]

Boxy, Nina, Kate and Dino sing, WE DO LOVE EXPLORING,
WE NEVER FIND IT BORING.

TOURING GALAXIES AND PLANETS,
OUR UNIVERSE'S FULL OF GAMES
AND FUN.

[Pigi coos]

Boxy, Nina, Kate and Dino sing, FOR EVERYONE.

[Pigi coos]

Boxy, Nina, Kate and Dino shout, WE'RE THE GAME CATCHERS!

They fly their spaceships to the surface of the planet and land on top of the blue outcropping. They run down a curving path beside the drawings.

[Giggling, gentle music plays]

The Game Catchers arrive by colourful trees.

Dino, Kate, Boxy and Nina say, WOW!

[Pigi coos, upbeat music plays]

Kate says, IT'S AMAZING!

Dino points and says, LOOK. CHILDREN!

Three blackboard children stand by a rock. A tall blackboard child with round eyeglasses stands by a red drawing of a face on a rock. A medium-sized blackboard child wears a pink bow. The smallest blackboard child stands beside the bow-wearing child. The Game Catchers run towards the blackboard children.

Dino, Kate, Boxy and Nina cheer, YAY!

[The Game Catchers laugh]

Dino, Kate, Boxy and Nina say, HI!

[Pigi coos, birds chirp]

The blackboard children say, OH, HI THERE.

The eyes on the face on the rock look around.

Nina says, OH, THIS FACE IS SO CUTE!
IF YOU DRAW SOMETHING ON THIS
PLANET, DOES IT ALWAYS MOVE?

The tall blackboard child says, ONLY IF
YOU USE A RED PIECE OF CHALK.
WHO ARE YOU?

Nina says, WE'RE THE GAME CATCHERS.

Boxy says, AND WE GO FROM PLANET
TO PLANET...

Kate says, TO LEARN...

[Pigi coos]

Kate, Nina and Boxy say, DINO?

Dino stands with his back to everyone. He turns with green chalk circles drawn on his face.

[Chalk scrapes]

Dino says, OH? NEW GAMES!

The blackboard children say, WOW!

[Birds chirp]

The bow-wearing blackboard child says,
WE KNOW A REALLY FUN ONE.
IT'S CALLED "HOPSCOTCH."

Dino wipes chalk off his face.

[Squeaking, upbeat music plays]

Dino asks, CAN WE ALL PLAY...

Dino, Kate and Boxy ask, TOGETHER?

The tall blackboard child says, OF COURSE,
BUT FIRST, WE NEED TO DRAW THE
GAME AREA.

Nina asks, CAN I DRAW THE MOUTH
OF THIS FACE IN THE MEANTIME?

The tall blackboard child says, SURE.

Nina draws on the rock.

[Playful music plays, chalk scrapes, ding]

Nina says, OH NO, I DIDN'T WANT
TO MAKE IT LOOK ANGRY.

Kate shouts, NINA, COME ON!
THE GAME IS STARTING.

The rock face says, HMM...

[Mumbles]

Nina joins the other children.

[Rustling]

The tall blackboard child says, HA!

A blackboard child draws connected squares on the ground with sections numbers from one to ten. The section for ten is a semi-circle on top of the square for nine.

[Chalk scrapes, upbeat music plays]

The tall blackboard child throws a pebble onto the one square. The child hops forward on the squares.

[Rattling pebble]

The bow-wearing blackboard child says,
THE RULES ARE EASY. YOU START
THROWING THE PEBBLE ON THE FIRST
SQUARE, THEN, AVOIDING STEPPING
ON THE SQUARE WITH THE PEBBLE,
YOU HOP ON ONE FOOT
ON THE SINGLE SQUARES,
AND WITH TWO FEET
ON THE DOUBLE SQUARES.

WHEN YOU GET TO THE LAST SQUARE,
YOU NEED TO TURN AROUND,
GO BACK AND PICK UP THE PEBBLE
ALONG THE WAY.

ONCE THE ROUND IS COMPLETED,
YOU START AGAIN, THROWING THE
PEBBLE ON THE NEXT NUMBER AND
SO ON. UNTIL YOU GET TO
THE LAST NUMBER.

The tall blackboard child throws the pebble. Squares light up in numerical order.

[Dinging, rattle, rustling]

The bow-wearing blackboard child says,
WHOEVER MAKES IT, WINS!

[The tall blackboard child laughs]

Kate throws the pebble and it lands on three.

[Rattling, buzzing, whooshing]

The bow-wearing blackboard child says,
BUT...IF YOU THROW THE PEBBLE
ON THE WRONG NUMBER,
OR YOU STEP ON THE LINES,
OR YOU FALL, YOU LOSE YOUR TURN.

The rock face blows a raspberry.

[Upbeat music continues, gibberish, ding, thump, buzz]

The tall blackboard child says, WHOA!

[Rock face laughs]

Kate says, HOW RUDE, FACE!

Pigi startles and throws the pebble into Boxy’s open top.

[Rock face screams, Dino gasps, slide whistle, Pigi coos, Boxy shouts, rustling]

[Boxy sighs, Pigi coos angrily, birds chirp]

[Rock face blows raspberry, gentle music plays]

Kate says, WE CAN'T PLAY
WITH THAT ANNOYING FACE.

Boxy says, MAYBE HE'S ACTING SO RUDE
BECAUSE NINA DREW HIS MOUTH
IN THE SHAPE OF A FROWN.

Kate says, OKAY...
SO LET'S MAKE HIM HAPPY!

[Kate whispers to Boxy]

Boxy says, OKAY.

[Birds chirp]

Kate says, HEY, FACE! SEE IF THIS
DOESN'T CRACK YOU UP.

Kate winds Boxy and the jack-in-the-box pops up.

[Boxy inhales, winding, squeaking, Kate giggles, boing]

[Laughter, rock face groans]

Dino says, HI FACE, WATCH
WHAT I CAN DO.

Dino juggles chalk.

[Upbeat music plays, whooshing]

He drops the pieces and catches the red one.

Dino says, OH NO!
OH! GOTCHA!

Dino draws half of a moustache on the rock face.

[Thud, ding]

Kate says, OH-OH...

[Gentle music plays]

The rock face says, OH...

The rock face smiles.

[Whistles, Pigi coos]

Kate says, YES! I THINK
HE LIKES THE MUSTACHE.

[Gentle music plays, rustling, Kate giggles, chalk scrapes]

Kate picks up the red chalk and draws the other half of the moustache.

The rock face says, AH-HA!
OH, OH!

Kate asks, WOULD LIKE A PAIR
OF GLASSES TOO?

The rock face says, HMM-HMM.

The bow-wearing blackboard child asks,
WOULD YOU LIKE SOME CURLY HAIR?

[Rock face laughs, upbeat music plays]

The children draw on the rock face.

[Giggling, chalk scrapes, Dino hums]

Boxy exclaims, AH-HA!

Soon, the rock face has curly hair, large ears, eyeglasses and a bowtie.

[The rock face laughs]

Boxy says, PERFECT!

[Pigi coos, the rock face laughs]

The rock face says, YEAH.

Nina says, HE LOOKS SO CUTE NOW,
AND SO HAPPY. SHOULD WE GO BACK
TO OUR GAME?

The Game Catchers and blackboard children cheer, YEAH!

Soon, Kate throws the pebble and hops on the hopscotch board. The other children take turns.

[Energetic music plays, rock face chuckles

[Pigi coos triumphantly, Boxy laughs, Dino grunts]

Dino trips and slides to the rock face.

[Everyone laughs]

Soon the Game Catchers return to their headquarters.

[Playful music plays, chiming]

Soon, the Game Catchers join Mr. Moustache in the headquarters. He enters information into the computer.

[Typing, beeping]

Kate says, AND THEN, THE BLACKBOARD
CHILD WAS THE FIRST TO FINISH THE
COURSE TWICE, AND SO HE WON!

[Soft music plays]

Dino says, AND THE FACE KEPT
CHEERING US ON!

WOO-HOO! WOO-HOO!

[Mr. Moustache laughs]

Mr. Moustache says, OH, YES, VERY AMUSING.
OH, HERE COMES THE GAME SPHERE!

The claw picks up an empty game sphere and it fills with teal light. The inside of the sphere shows flashbacks of the children playing hopscotch. The game sphere rolls out of the machine.

[Whirring, triumphant music plays, clank]

Kate cheers, YAY!

[Mr. Moustache chuckles]

In the game archive, Kate puts the game sphere on a shelf.

[Cheerful music plays]

Mr. Moustache says, GREAT JOB,
GAME CATCHERS.

ANOTHER SPLENDID GAME
FOR OUR COLLECTION.
