GRAN GRAN NARRATING: It was a spring morning. The blossom was on the trees, the sun was shining, and JoJo and Gran Gran, that's me, were buying food at the market with Mummy and Daddy.
DESCRIPTION: At the outdoor market, a fishmonger hands Gran Gran two large paper bags. Daddy stands nearby with Jojo, carrying bags.
MUMMY: Let me take those bags for you, Mum.
GRAN GRAN: Oh, thank you. Many hands make light work.
JOJO: "Many hands make light work?"
GRAN GRAN: That means, when everyone helps, it's easier to get the work done.
JOJO: I can use my hands to help! I can make name cards for our family feast!
DADDY: And I can use my hands to make the oil-down fish stew, Grenada style!
MUMMY: And I can use my hands for my famous fish cakes, St. Lucia style.

TERRENCE: That all sounds delicious!

JOJO: What’s a vegan meal?

TERRENCE: Very tasty, JoJo. Vegan meals are made with food that only comes from plants.
GRAN GRAN: Oh, if you fancy it, Terrence, you’re welcome to join us.

DADDY: Grenadian, St. Lucian, and Trinidadian food all under one roof! Mm.
GRAN GRAN: JoJo, this is going to be an Easter feast to remember!

GREAT GRAN GRAN: JoJo, my little sunshine! What are you up to today?
JOJO: I'm making name cards for our Easter feast!
GREAT GRAN GRAN: Oh, wonderful!
DESCRIPTION: Jojo frowns.
JOJO: What's that, Great Gran Gran?
DESCRIPTION: Great Gran Gran glances over her shoulder toward a large clay pot on top of a cylindrical base with an opening and a pile of ash inside.
GREAT GRAN GRAN: It's a coal pot. I use it for cooking outside.

GRAN GRAN: Oh, let's get this all in the kitchen.

DESCRIPTION: In the kitchen, Jojo sits at the table. Gran Gran stands beside her. Mummy and Daddy cook at the stove. Auntie Dee, Jarod and Terrence stand by the fridge at the door with their food.
JARED: Um, any space in the oven to warm my breadfruit pie?
MUMMY: Sorry, not yet, Jared.
AUNTIE DEE: Is there anywhere I can put my rice and peas?
DADDY: There will be in a minute, Auntie Dee.
TERRENCE: Oh, can I please use the hot for my curry?
DADDY: There's no room.
MUMMY: Sorry, Terrence.
JOJO: Gran Gran, how will we get all the food ready in time?
GRAN GRAN: Hm, JoJo, I think it's time for a Gran Gran Plan!
[Celebratory music plays]
GRAN GRAN: There's not enough space in the kitchen. So, why don't we go out and cook in the garden instead? We can use my coal pot.
TERRENCE: What a great idea, Gran Gran!
[Terrence sighing]
TERRENCE: Ah, I've not used my coal pot in years. I'll fetch it and bring some extra chairs.
JARED: And I'll get some tables from my shop.
AUNTIE DEE: And I'll help get the garden ready.
GRAN GRAN: Let's get this coal pot garden feast on the road!
EVERYONE: Yay!
[Light, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In Gran Gran’s backyard, Terrence places his covered pot of vegan curry on the grate of a small, modern coal pot. The coals under the grate cast a warm glow. Beside Terrence, Gran Gran places a covered pot on the grate of her clay coal pot. Later, Terrence and Gran Gran remove the pot lids and check on their food. Gran Gran flips fish cakes, and Terrence stirs his curry. Jojo moves Panda’s arm in a stirring motion.
[Light, upbeat music continues]
DESCRIPTION: Mummy and Jojo wave Jarod and Daddy into the backyard as they carry a folding table. Auntie Dee follows with a chair. Tables appear in the yard with a large tablecloth and chairs, then plates appear on the table. Gran Gran sets a jug on the table among place settings, and Jojo adds the Easter egg name cards.

BLACK-HAIRED BOY: When I eat this food, it makes me feel happy.
BROWN-HAIRED BOY: My Nana likes eating cheese with apple. So, I call her Nan, Nana Apple Cheese.
DESCRIPTION: The brown-haired boy grins.

DESCRIPTION: In Gran Gran’s kitchen, Daddy presses a button on a wireless radio.
[Lively music plays]
DESCRIPTION: At the kitchen table, Daddy chops carrots on a cutting board. Jojo draws on Easter egg-shaped name cards with drawings of her family members. Eggs with drawings of Jojo and Gran Gran lean against Panda. At the back counter, Gran Gran mixes ingredients in a bowl, and Mummy stirs a pot on the stove. Everyone sways to the music.
[Daddy chuckling]
DADDY: This is what I'm talking about. Hey, hey!
[Gran Gran cheering]
DESCRIPTION: Mummy grabs a spice container.
MUMMY: Yay!
DESCRIPTION: Jojo colours in a line on an Easter egg with a drawing of Jarod, then sets down her crayon.
JOJO: There. All finished, Panda.
DESCRIPTION: Jojo leans Jarod’s Easter egg against Panda, then grabs an egg with a drawing of Terrence.

DESCRIPTION: Gran Gran walks over to the table.
GRAN GRAN: Aw, that's a lovely drawing, JoJo.
JOJO: This is Daddy's name card, so he knows where to sit at the table.
DESCRIPTION: Jojo holds up an Easter egg drawing that features Daddy and a bar of chocolate.
DADDY: Aw, thank you, JoJo, and it has my favourite food on it. Chocolate!
[Everyone laughing]
[Ringing]
DESCRIPTION: Everyone glances at Gran Gran’s tablet on the table. Gran Gran answers an incoming video call from Great Gran Gran and picks up the tablet.
JOJO: Hi, Great Gran Gran!
GREAT GRAN GRAN: JoJo, my little sunshine! What are you up to today?
JOJO: I'm making name cards for our Easter feast!
GREAT GRAN GRAN: Oh, wonderful!
DESCRIPTION: Jojo frowns.
JOJO: What's that, Great Gran Gran?
DESCRIPTION: Great Gran Gran glances over her shoulder toward a large clay pot on top of a cylindrical base with an opening and a pile of ash inside.
GREAT GRAN GRAN: It's a coal pot. I use it for cooking outside.
GRAN GRAN: It makes the food taste even better.
JOJO: We're cooking, too, but we're using an oven. Daddy's making, um... Oil gel...
[Daddy chuckling]
DESCRIPTION: Daddy walks over to Gran Gran.
DADDY: Oil down fish stew.
DESCRIPTION: Mummy walks over to Jojo and waves to Great Gran Gran.
MUMMY: And I'm making fish cakes, just like you taught me, Great Gran Gran.
[Doorbell ringing]
GRAN GRAN: Oh! Gotta go, Mama, someone's at the door.
GREAT GRAN GRAN: Enjoy the feast, everybody!
JOJO: See you soon!
DESCRIPTION: Everyone waves.
[Gentle music plays]
[Whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: In the entryway, Gran Gran opens the front door, and Auntie Dee walks in with a container of food. Jojo stands by the stairs with Panda.
AUNTIE DEE: Sa ka fete, family!
GRAN GRAN: Oh, hi, Auntie Dee.
DESCRIPTION: Terrence appears behind Auntie Dee with a covered pot.
AUNTIE DEE: Hi, Terrence.
DESCRIPTION: Jarod appears beside Terrence with a covered casserole dish.
JOJO: Jared!
DESCRIPTION: Jarod and Terrence follow Auntie Dee inside.
JARED: Hey, JoJo! Gran Gran. As promised, here's my breadfruit pie, made with love.
AUNTIE DEE: And my special rice and peas. So good you'll say, "More please!"

TERRENCE: And here's my vegan Trinidadian roti with a bean curry. It just needs to be reheated.
JAROD: And I need to warm mine up, too.
AUNTIE DEE: Mine, too!
JOJO: Smells delicious, doesn't it, Panda?
GRAN GRAN: Oh, let's get this all in the kitchen.
[Gentle steelpan music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In the kitchen, Jojo sits at the table. Gran Gran stands beside her. Mummy and Daddy cook at the stove. Auntie Dee, Jarod and Terrence stand by the fridge at the door with their food.
JARED: Um, any space in the oven to warm my breadfruit pie?
MUMMY: Sorry, not yet, Jared.
AUNTIE DEE: Is there anywhere I can put my rice and peas?
DADDY: There will be in a minute, Auntie Dee.
TERRENCE: Oh, can I please use the hot for my curry?
DADDY: There's no room.
MUMMY: Sorry, Terrence.
JOJO: Gran Gran, how will we get all the food ready in time?
GRAN GRAN: Hm, JoJo, I think it's time for a Gran Gran Plan!
[Celebratory music plays]
GRAN GRAN: There's not enough space in the kitchen. So, why don't we go out and cook in the garden instead? We can use my coal pot.
TERRENCE: What a great idea, Gran Gran!
[Terrence sighing]
TERRENCE: Ah, I've not used my coal pot in years. I'll fetch it and bring some extra chairs.
JARED: And I'll get some tables from my shop.
AUNTIE DEE: And I'll help get the garden ready.
GRAN GRAN: Let's get this coal pot garden feast on the road!
EVERYONE: Yay!
[Light, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In Gran Gran’s backyard, Terrence places his covered pot of vegan curry on the grate of a small, modern coal pot. The coals under the grate cast a warm glow. Beside Terrence, Gran Gran places a covered pot on the grate of her clay coal pot. Later, Terrence and Gran Gran remove the pot lids and check on their food. Gran Gran flips fish cakes, and Terrence stirs his curry. Jojo moves Panda’s arm in a stirring motion.
[Light, upbeat music continues]
DESCRIPTION: Mummy and Jojo wave Jarod and Daddy into the backyard as they carry a folding table. Auntie Dee follows with a chair. Tables appear in the yard with a large tablecloth and chairs, then plates appear on the table. Gran Gran sets a jug on the table among place settings, and Jojo adds the Easter egg name cards.
[Light, upbeat music continues]
DESCRIPTION: Gran Gran and Terrence take their food off the coal pots wearing oven mitts and share a smile. Everyone places the many dishes of food on the table. They sit around the table with Jojo in the middle between Mummy and Gran Gran.
JAROD: That's what I call a team effort.
JOJO: Yes! Many hands make light work.
MUMMY: And many coal pots make a tasty meal.
GRAN GRAN: Dinner is served!
JOJO: Happy Easter, everyone.
ADULTS: Happy Easter, JoJo!

DESCRIPTION: Later, the black-haired boy rolls a small portion of dough between his clean hands. Auntie Deedee collects another small portion of dough from the bowl and rolls it between her hands.

DESCRIPTION: The black-haired boy folds the ball of dough into itself.

DESCRIPTION: Auntie Deedee flattens her ball of dough into a small disc. She gently stretches the dough with her fingers.
