GRAN GRAN NARRATES: It was a bright autumn afternoon. The leaves were changing colour and falling from the trees. And JoJo and Gran Gran, that's me, were visiting the concert hall.
JOJO: Whoa! Panda and I have never seen an orchestra before.
GRAN GRAN: You're going to love it.
[JoJo giggles]
JOJO: And it's a Captain Chloe story!
GRAN GRAN: Yes! A story told using music.
[JoJo giggles]
JOJO: Yay!

GRAN GRAN: It's a bit like a chef baking some biscuits.
ANTON: Yes, when a chef bakes biscuits, they have to make sure all of the ingredients are added at the correct time and mixed up with a spoon.
JOSHUA: Yep! And instead of a spoon, the conductor uses their trusty baton.
[Joshua chuckles]
JOJO: Wow! The conductor has a very important job.
[Chimes]
ANNOUNCER: Please take your seats for the final part of this afternoon's orchestra performance.
JOSHUA: I'd better head back. Enjoy the final part of the story.

ANNOUNCER: Please take your seats for the final part of this afternoon's orchestra performance.
JOSHUA: I'd better head back. Enjoy the final part of the story.
ISAIAH: Good luck, Daddy!
[Whoosh, upbeat music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: Everyone waves as Joshua walks away. In the concert hall, the audience sits in their seats, and the picture of Captain Chloe at the edge of the waterfall appears on the screen over the orchestra. The conductor moves her baton, and the orchestra plays.
[Adventure music plays]
DESCRIPTION: JoJo and Isaiah smile at each other. On the screen, Captain Chloe swings on a vine to shore and then jumps on rocks to cross a river. She looks at a mermaid blowing into a seashell.
JOJO: It's the musical mermaid.
[Chimes, clarinet music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Joshua plays his solo.
ISAIAH: It's Daddy!
[Chimes, clarinet music plays, orchestra music plays, JoJo gasps, music continues]
DESCRIPTION: On the screen, Captain Chloe smiles as she runs away from a breaking rope bridge.
JOJO: Come on, Captain Chloe!
[Orchestra music plays]
DESCRIPTION: On the screen, Captain Chloe stands on a beach beside a treasure chest, smiling. She throws gold coins in the air.
JOJO: Yes! The treasure!
[Audience applauds, cheers]
DESCRIPTION: On the stage, the conductor bows and gestures at the orchestra.
[Audience applauds]
JOJO: That was great!
ISAIAH: Daddy! You are amazing!
[Audience applauds, whistles]
DESCRIPTION: On the stage, Joshua stands and smiles.
JOJO: I'd like to be in the orchestra when I'm older.
GRAN GRAN: What instrument would you like to play?
JOJO: I don't want to play an instrument. I'd like to be a conductor.
[Upbeat music plays, whoosh, background chatter, light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: JoJo pretends to conduct. In live-action, five people enter a foyer. A woman with long black hair holds the hand of a boy with a buzz cut wearing a red jacket.
BOY NARRATES: Me and my family are going to listen to an orchestra play some music.
DESCRIPTION: The boy and his family walk to a sales counter where a bearded young man sits at a computer.
TICKET SELLER: Evening!
BOY: Five tickets, please.
TICKET SELLER: Of course! There you go.
DESCRIPTION: The bearded young man, who is the ticket seller, gives the boy five tickets. Behind the boy, a teenage girl with a ponytail, a young man with short black hair, and a man wearing glasses and a hat smile.
BOY AND BLACK-HAIRED WOMAN: Thank you.
TICKET SELLER: Thank you. Have a nice day.
BOY AND BLACK-HAIRED WOMAN: Thank you.
[Background chatter, instruments tuning]
DESCRIPTION: The family sits in their seats, with the boy between the black-haired woman and the teenage girl. On the stage, the orchestra tunes their instruments.
BOY NARRATES: We are in our seats, and we're waiting for the orchestra to start. They're nearly ready.
[Audience applauds]
DESCRIPTION: A boy carries a clarinet onto the stage, followed by the conductor.
BOY NARRATES: This is Shea. He is going to play the clarinet.
[Audience applauds, orchestra plays]
DESCRIPTION: Shea stands near the front of the stage, playing his clarinet. The conductor conducts the teenagers and children playing instruments in the orchestra.
BOY NARRATES: There are lots of different instruments in an orchestra.
[Orchestra plays, Shea plays the clarinet]
BOY NARRATES: The conductor helps the musicians play together.
[Orchestra plays, audience applauds]
DESCRIPTION: In the audience, the boy with the buzz cut smiles as he watches the orchestra.
BOY: Wow! That was excellent! We love watching the orchestra play.
[JoJo hums, Gran Gran chuckles]
DESCRIPTION: On the stage, the orchestra stands. Back in Gran Gran’s kitchen, Gran Gran stands by the stove as JoJo sits at the table and pretends to conduct an orchestra. A ring of toys sits facing her on the table.
GRAN GRAN: Oh, I'm so glad you enjoyed your first orchestra, JoJo.
[Light music plays]
JOJO: We loved it! Thanks for taking us.
[Gran Gran chuckles]
GRAN GRAN: Please, can I have my wooden spoon back? I'll need it to make dinner.
JOJO: Oops.
[JoJo giggles]
DESCRIPTION: JoJo gives Gran Gran the spoon.
JOJO: I love you, Gran Gran.
[Gran Gran chuckles]
DESCRIPTION: Gran Gran picks JoJo up.
GRAN GRAN: I love you too, JoJo.
DESCRIPTION: Gran Gran holds Jojo close, and they both smile.
[Gentle, uplifting music plays]
