[Upbeat, cheerful music plays]
An animated marble runs down a purple track and jumps off the end. Marbles crash down, revealing the text, “TVOkids Presents, Run the Marbles!”
Kids say, LET'S RUN THE MARBLES!
Two people sit in a white room with a blue ladder and a yellow table covered with red paper plates, glass jars full of marbles, paper towel holders, clay, and tape.
A narrator says, HI, EBUN! HI, KORALEE!
The two people are Koralee and Ebun. Koralee has brown hair and is wearing a green t-shirt. Ebun has brown hair and is wearing a yellow T-shirt. They sit at the table and hold red plates, on which they are balancing marbles.
Both say, HI!
The narrator says, THAT LOOKS LIKE FUN!
Ebun says, WATCH THIS.
Ebun moves the red paper plate in a circle and rolls the marble around.
The narrator says, HOW LONG CAN YOU ROLL THOSE MARBLES AROUND AND AROUND?
Ebun says, AS LONG AS I DO THIS.
Ebun and Koralee continue to roll the marbles around on the plates.
The narrator says, VERY COOL! A PLATE IS LIKE A ROUND TRACK. WHAT ARE ALL THOSE PLATES FOR?
A stack of red paper plates sits on the table.
Koralee says, WE'RE MAKING A SPIRAL MARBLE RUN.
Ebun says, YAY! SPIRALS!
The narrator says, HOW WILL YOU DO THAT?
Ebun says, LIKE THIS.
Ebun puts one hand on her hip and with her other hand, mimes a circle with her index finger.
The narrator says, VERY TWISTY. WHAT DO WE NEED?
Koralee says, WE START WITH A TUBE AND A PLATE, AND DO THIS.
Koralee picks up a yellow paper towel tube and a red paper plate. With a pencil, she traces the tube onto the centre of the plate.
The narrator says, YOU'RE TRACING A TUBE IN THE CENTRE OF THE PLATE. YES, AND THEN WE CUT UP THE CIRCLE.
Then, Koralee cuts straight through the plate, cuts tabs into the circle, and pushes them out to make a hole.
The narrator says, OH, YOU MADE LITTLE TABS.
Koralee pushes a paper towel tube into the hole. Then, Ebun tapes the tube to the plate.
The narrator says, THE TABS WILL HELP YOU STICK THE PLATE TO THE TUBE. AND YOU HAVE TO DO THAT FOR EACH PLATE?
Koralee says, YES, AND DO IT AGAIN.
Both say, AND AGAIN AND AGAIN.
The narrator says, GOT IT! YOU'LL CONNECT THE SPIRALS TO MAKE LONG SPIRAL RAMPS.
Both say, LET'S DO IT.
[Marbles rattle]
The video transitions with animated marbles falling. A montage shows Koralee and Ebun working. They trace circles onto the plates, cut them out, and attach the tubes to the plates.
The narrator says, NICE WORK, TEAM.
Then, they place the ramp onto a paper towel holder to keep it up.
Both say, LET'S RUN THE MARBLES!
Ebun drops a marble down the track.
The narrator says, UH-OH!
Halfway down the track, the marble falls off the side of the plate. A close-up video of the marble falling replays in slow motion.
Ebun says, THE MARBLE WENT RIGHT OFF THE PLATE.
Ebun and Jordan grab blue clay and create a wall around the perimeter of the plate.
The narrator says, OH, CLAY, GOOD IDEA. THAT CLAY WILL STOP THE MARBLE FROM ROLLING OFF THE TRACK.
Koralee says, LET'S TRY IT. YEAH.
Ebun says, GO, MARBLE! WOO!
Ebun drops another marble down the track, and it stays on the whole time. It drops onto the table at the end of the track.
Ebun says, YAY! IT WORKS.
Koralee and Ebun high-five.
The narrator says, ALRIGHT! BUT THE MARBLE WENT DOWN SO FAST. HOW CAN WE MAKE THIS LAST LONGER?
Ebun says, I KNOW! MORE SPIRALS.
[Marbles rattle]
The video transitions with animated marbles falling down the screen into a montage of Koralee and Ebun at work. They attach the tubes to the plates, roll clay onto the sides, and place the three tracks on descending platforms, creating one long track. After they are done, Ebun and Koralee mime wiping sweat off their foreheads.
Ebun says, GREAT JOB! COME ON, LET'S TRY IT.
Ebun and Koralee each drop a blue and yellow marble down the track, and they go down all three platforms until the marbles fall into a metal dish at the bottom.
Both say, WOW.
The narrator says, LOOK AT THEM GO! I WONDER WHICH ONE WILL FINISH FIRST?
Both say, YAY! MARBLE RACE!
The narrator says, BLUE OR YELLOW? AFTER YOU LET GO OF THE MARBLES AT THE TOP OF THE MARBLE RUN, ZOOM, GRAVITY TAKES OVER!
The blue marble finishes first, with the yellow one close behind.
Both say, LET'S RUN THE MARBLES!
