Transcript: Bendy Clay Run!
[Exciting, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In animation, a marble rolls down a track. Many marbles fall around a title.
[Text reads] T.V.O. kids Presents: Run the Marbles
KIDS: Let's run the marbles!
DESCRIPTION: In a white room, Run the Marbles host Koralee sits at a table with a brown-haired child. Koralee wears her long dark hair in tight braids and a dark green T-shirt. The brown-haired child wears a light green T-shirt. On mats, they roll clay into logs.
NARRATOR: Hi, Jordan. Hi, Koralee.
JORDAN AND KORALEE: Hi.
NARRATOR: Wow. You can make almost anything with soft clay.
JORDAN: Even a marble run.
NARRATOR: No way! A soft clay marble run? How would you build it?
KORALEE: Like this.
DESCRIPTION: Koralee presses a roller tool into a clay log on a mat and shapes it into a marble track. Jordan places a marble and the track. He runs it across the track with his finger.
NARRATOR: Hmm. That's going to be a bit slow.
DESCRIPTION: Koralee lifts one end of the mat, and Jordan rolls the marble down the run. The marble rolls down the run and off the mat.
NARRATOR: Aha! Making the run steeper worked better. It helped the marble go faster.
DESCRIPTION: Jordan picks up the clay track, and it droops.
NARRATOR: That track looks soft and heavy.
JORDAN: And bendy, too.
NARRATOR: What can we do to make it stronger, so it doesn't bend so much?
[Bell dinging]
DESCRIPTION: Koralee picks up a thick green wire.
NARRATOR: Oh, good idea! Wire to support it so it doesn't collapse.
DESCRIPTION: Koralee presses the clay track onto the wire. Jordan holds up the track by the wire.
JORDAN: Nice and strong.
NARRATOR: What comes next?
DESCRIPTION: Koralee passes Jordan a blue paper cup.
JORDAN: Tada! Cups!
KORLEE: And tape.
NARRATOR: Really? Just cups and tape?
KORALEE: That's right. Let's get building.
DESCRIPTION: Koralee rolls a mix of blue and yellow clay into a log. She presses grooves into the clay with a roller tool and shapes the clay into a track.
NARRATOR: Hey, using that roller to make a groove in the track is a great idea.
DESCRIPTION: Jordan shapes clay into a track. Koralee tapes the ends of a blue paper cup and a white paper cup together and makes a tower. Jordan rolls red clay into a log.
NARRATOR: Go, Jordan! Go, Jordan!
DESCRIPTION: Koralee tapes another set of cups together. She cuts off the top half of a white cup and makes a shorter tower. On a baking tray, she holds down a blue paper cup tower, and Jodran wraps a long clay log around the rim.
KORALEE: When you smoosh the clay around things, it stays put.
DESCRIPTION: Jordan presses the clay onto the cup and the tray. Koralee and Jordan place cup towers of varying sizes onto the tray with clay. They place clay tracks between the cups and make a run. They high-five and add green wire to the clay tracks.
JORDAN: It's marble time.
DESCRIPTION: Jordan rolls a marble down the clay run.
NARRATOR: Nice!
DESCRIPTION: Jordan rolls another marble down the run. The marble rolls off the end and hits the edge of the tray.
JORDAN AND KORALEE: Whoa! So cool!
JORDAN: And squishy.
DESCRIPTION: Jordan rolls more marbles down the run.
NARRATOR: Wow! It really works!
KORALEE: Should we build another track and connect them together?
NARRATOR AND JORDAN: Whoo-hoo! Mega marble run!
NARRATOR: Yay!
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Koralee grabs another tray. Jordan rolls clay. Koralee tapes and cuts different-sized cups. Jodran shapes clay into a track with the roller tool. Koralee and Jordan attach the cups to the tray with clay and then place the new tracks on the cups. They place trays on tables of varying heights.
[Bell dinging]
KORALEE AND JORDA: Let's run the marbles!
DESCRIPTION: Jordan rolls a marble down the first track. The marble rolls down the track and through a cup onto the second track. It rolls down the second track onto the third. The marble rolls into a cake pan at the end of the run.
JORDAN: Hooray!
DESCRIPTION: Jordan and Koralee run multiple marbles down the run at once.
JORDAN: Yes!
[Children cheering]
DESCRIPTION: The marbles pile into the cake pan.
[Marbles clattering]
