[Text reads] T.V.O. kids Presents: Run the Marbles

KIDS: Let's run the marbles!

DESCRIPTION: In a white room, Run the Marbles host Koralee stands at a table. Koralee wears her long dark hair in tight braids and a dark green T-shirt. Beside her, a blond-haired child with their hair in pigtails wears a pink T-shirt. Together, they build a marble run with plastic parts.

NARRATOR: Hi, Koralee. Hi, Brooklyn.

KORALEE AND BROOKLYNN: Hi.

NARRATOR: What are you making?

KORALEE: A marble run with whatever we can find.

NARRATOR: Fun plate pieces? Swoopy spirals? Looks great!

KORALEE: But it still needs something.

DESCRIPTION: Koralee and Brooklyn look thoughtful.

[Clock ticking]

DESCRIPTION: Koralee picks up a pink scarf and shakes her head. Brooklyn picks up a silver pinwheel and shakes her head. Koralee picks up a large square sheet of orange cardboard.

KORALEE: How about this?

DESCRIPTION: Brooklyn grabs half of a blue cardboard tube that is taller than her.

BROOKLYN: And this!

NARRATOR: A big piece of cardboard and half of a big tube? Well, hey, you did say whatever you could find. Let's see what you can do!

DESCRIPTION: Koralee leaves the orange cardboard on the table and grabs one end of the tube. Brooklyn holds the other end. Koralee places a marble in the tube. She and Brooklyn raise and lower the tube and roll the marble forward and back.

KORALEE: Okay. What else can we do?

DESCRIPTION: Brooklyn drops the marble into the tube from the side. She and Koralee tilt the tube side to side, and the marble rolls up and down from left to right down the tube.

BROOKLYN: Wow. Cool move!

NARRATOR: Did you see that? When Brooklyn started from the side of the tube, the marble rolled up and down.

KORALEE: Oh, this is like riding my skateboard on a halfpipe.

BROOKLYN: Gnarly!

[Guitar riff]

[Brooklyn giggling]

NARRATOR: How about we use the cardboard and tube you found to make a halfpipe track for marbles. This will be great! You can put the tube at the end of the run because it's big.

DESCRIPTION: Brooklyn holds the cardboard tube half pipe against a green box. Koralee places a bowl in a helmet. On the floor, she places the lower end of the half pipe in the helmet. The half pile makes a ramp between the helmet and the green box. Koralee and Brooklyn return to the table.

KORALEE: And we can make another halfpipe at the top with the cardboard.

NARRATOR: Can't wait to see this in action!

DESCRIPTION: Koralee holds the square cardboard sheet. Brooklyn places a marble on the cardboard.

KORALEE: The marble doesn't move that much. Maybe the shape of the cardboard isn't right.

NARRATOR: Shape?

DESCRIPTION: Koralee curves the cardboard into the shape of a half pipe. Brooklyn drops the marble into the half pipe, and it rolls around.

NARRATOR: It does work better when the cardboard is curved, but how are you going to make it stay that way?

DESCRIPTION: Koralee grabs a piece of red and white string and weaves it through holes on opposite sides of the cardboard.

NARRATOR: Oh, you're using string to lace the sides together.

DESCRIPTION: Koralee ties the string. Brooklyn holds the cardboard in a halfpipe position, and Koralee ties more string through the holes on the sides.

NARRATOR: Let's attach the cardboard to what will be the top of the run.

DESCRIPTION: Brooklyn places a tall green box on the table. Koralee balances the orange half pipe between the box and the top of the plastic track.

NARRATOR: That looks great!

[Dinging]

DESCRIPTION: The run starts at the orange half pipe and ends at the helmet at the bottom of the blue cardboard half pipe ramp.

NARRATOR: Looks like it's ready!

KORALEE AND BROOKLYN: Let's run the marbles!

[Upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Koralee rolls a marble down the side of the orange half pipe. It rolls up and down the pipe and into the top of the plastic track.

NARRATOR: Look at that marble go!

DESCRIPTION: The marble rolls through a spiral tower, down a ramp and across a track to the blue half pipe.

NARRATOR: The marbles can run up and down the sides of the track and move forward at the same time!

DESCRIPTION: The marble drops into the bowl in the helmet at the end of the run. Koralee and Brooklyn high-five.

[Koralee and Brooklyn giggling]

KORALEE AND BROOKLYN: Let's run the marbles!

NARRATOR: We made a halfpipe marble run with a piece of cardboard and a big tube!

DESCRIPTION: Brooklyn drops a handful of marbles onto the orange half pipe, and they roll down the run.

BROOKLYN: Yay!

DESCRIPTION: Brooklyn and Koralee roll many more marbles down the run. The marbles fill the bowl at the end.

[Marbles clattering]

[Children cheering]
