Panda’s mom says, PANDA! OH, PANDA PIE!
Panda’s mom enters the room wearing a red sweater and a rainbow-coloured bow in her fur.
Panda’s mom says, OH! OH, THERE YOU ARE!
Panda and his mom say, HI!
[Giggling, happy music plays]
Panda’s mom says, OH, I SURE DID LOVE CELEBRATING SPECTACULAR SEASON THIS YEAR.
Panda says, OH, ME TOO, MAMA! SPECTACULAR SEASON IS MY FAVOURITE TIME OF THE YEAR. A WHOLE WEEK OF SEEING PLANET PURPLE TURN ALL COLOURS OF THE RAINBOW.
Panda’s mom says, I KNOW! SO MANY COLOURFUL DECORATIONS.
Panda says, YEAH.
Panda’s mom says, SO, WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF SPECTACULAR SEASON, HUH?
Panda picks up rainbow-coloured party hats.
Panda says, OH, WELL, UH... I LIKED MAKING THESE COLOURFUL PARTY HATS.
[Panda giggling]
Panda’s mom says, OH, YEAH. ME TOO. ME TOO.
Panda looks at a piñata with dangling blue, orange, and yellow streamers.
Panda says, AND, UH, OH! I LIKED PLAYING "RELEASE THE RAINBOW."
[Panda giggling]
Panda’s mom says, OH, YOU ARE SO GOOD AT THAT GAME!
Panda says, OH, AND THE COLORIFIC COOKIES, AND THE PARADES, AND DECORATING MY SPACESHIP WAS REALLY FUN. AND I LOVED WAKING UP EVERY MORNING AND SAYING, "HAPPY SPECTACULAR SEASON!" HEY-OH!
[Giggling]
Panda’s mom says, OH! IT'S BEEN A PRETTY BIG WEEK, HASN'T IT?
Panda says, OH YEAH.
Panda’s mom says, I BET YOUR FRIENDS ON SOMEPLACE ELSE MISS YOU.
Panda says, OH YEAH! I CAN'T WAIT TO TELL DONKEY ALL ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED.
[Panda giggling]
Panda’s mom says, OH, WELL, WHAT DO YOU SAY WE CLEAN UP YOUR ROOM SO YOU CAN HEAD BACK, HUH?
Panda says, OH, OKAY.
[Rustling]
Panda’s mom carries the colourful paper chains in a box.
Panda’s mom says, OKAY, SO, LET ME GET THESE CHAINS DOWN. OKAY, DECORATIONS. TIME TO PUT YOU AWAY FOR ANOTHER YEAR.
Panday says, HAPPY SPECTACULAR SEASON, MAMA! I LOVE YOU.
[Panda giggling]
Panda’s mom says, AWW, I LOVE YOU, PANDA PIE.
[Panda giggling]
Both say, MMM!
[Squeaking]
Panda and his mom rub their noses against each other.
[Panda giggling]
Panda’s mom says, HAPPY SPECTACULAR SEASON!
Panda says, BYE. MAMA!
[Upbeat music plays, whooshing]
Panda’s spaceship takes off, and he flies back to Someplace Else.
Panda says, HEY-OH!
[Whooshing]
At night, Panda lands his spaceship at the end of his walkway. The crescent moon glows above him in the starry sky.
Panda says, GOOD NIGHT, SOMEPLACE ELSE.
[Yawning, whirring, snoring, gasping, light music plays]
Panda closes his shutter. Night turns into day, and Panda sits up in his bed.
Panda says, AH! HAPPY SPECTACULAR-- OH, WAIT A MINUTE. IT'S NOT SPECTACULAR SEASON ANYMORE.
Outside, Donkey shouts, PANDA, YOU'RE HOME! CAN I COME UP?
Panda says, UH, YEAH, COME UP, DONKEY.
[Grunting]
Panda gets out of bed.
Panda says, AH, WOW. MY ROOM LOOKS SO EMPTY NOW. NO MORE DECORATIONS. NO MORE HOLIDAY STUFF.
[Sighing]
Panda says, NO MORE FUN.
Donkey says, HEE-HAW, PANDA! HOW WAS SPECTACULAR SEASON?
[Panda sighing sadly]
Donkey says, WHAT'S WRONG, PANDA PAL?
[Groaning]
Panda says, JUST LOOK.
[Sighing]
Panda flops back onto his bed.
Donkey asks, LOOK AT WHAT, EXACTLY?
Panda says, IT'S MY ROOM, DONKEY.
[Sighing]
Panda says, IT'S SO EMPTY. IT USED TO BE FILLED WITH COLOURFUL, SPECTACULAR SEASON DECORATIONS, BUT NOW THAT IT'S OVER, IT'S JUST A PLAIN OLD ROOM ON A PLAIN OLD DAY.
Donkey says, OH, PANDA. I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL. I WAS REALLY SAD THE DAY AFTER MY BIRTHDAY. NO MORE CAKE, NO MORE PRESENTS, NO MORE GAMES. IT WAS JUST A PLAIN OLD DAY.
[Panda sighing]
Panda says, YEAH! SPECTACULAR SEASON WAS JUST SO MUCH FUN, YOU KNOW? AND PLAIN OLD DAYS ARE JUST SO...
[Thrumming]
Panda waves his hand in the air.
Panda continues, HEY-HO-HUM.
[Thumping]
Donkey sits on the bed beside Panda.
Donkey says, WELL, I, DONKEY HODIE, WILL HELP YOU SEE THAT THIS PLAIN OLD DAY CAN STILL BE A NICE ONE.
Panda asks, BUT HOW, DONKEY? PLAIN OLD DAYS AREN'T NEARLY AS FUN OR EXCITING AS SPECTACULAR SEASON. THAT'S THE WHOLE REASON WHY THEY CALL IT SPECTACULAR SEASON.
Donkey says, SURE, BUT EVEN THE LITTLE THINGS YOU DO ON A PLAIN OLD DAY CAN MAKE YOU HAPPY.
Panda says, REALLY?
Donkey nods and says, MM-HMM.
Panda says, WHAT KIND OF LITTLE THINGS?
Donkey says, WELL, UM... UH... THINK, DONKEY HODIE, THINK.
[Chiming]
Donkey says, UH... OH! I KNOW A GREAT WAY TO START A PLAIN OLD DAY. WITH A PLAIN OLD BREAKFAST.
[Zooming, Panda gasping]
Donkey runs away and returns with cinnamon toast and a teacup on a saucer.
Panda says, HEY! CINNAMON TOAST AND TEA. THAT'S WHAT I USUALLY HAVE FOR BREAKFAST. WELL, EXCEPT FOR DURING SPECTACULAR SEASON. AH, THERE'S SO MANY SPECIAL HOLIDAY FOODS TO EAT THAT I DIDN'T HAVE MY USUAL CINNAMON TOAST AND TEA.
[Panda giggling, munching]
Donkey says, WELL, I KNOW THIS CINNAMON TOAST ISN'T THE SAME AS A COLORIFIC COOKIE, BUT IT SURE IS TASTY.
Panda says, MMM.
[Gulping]
Panda says, IT IS TASTY! WOW! IT'S SO PLAIN-LOOKING, BUT IT'S SO GOOD! I DIDN'T REALIZE HOW MUCH I MISSED CINNAMON TOAST UNTIL NOW.
[Giggling, chuckling]
Donkey says, OH, IT'S EASY TO FORGET HOW NICE PLAIN-OLD THINGS CAN BE AFTER BIG EXCITING DAYS.
[Jazzy music plays]
Donkey sings, WHEN YOU'VE HAD LOTS OF SPECIAL FUN AND THE NEXT DAY, ALL THE FUN IS DONE. YOU MAY JUST WANT TO SIT AND CRY. BOO-HOO. OF COURSE, IT'S FINE TO SIT A BIT BUT EVENTUALLY YOU'LL SEE, THAT IT FEELS GOOD TO DO A THING YOU ALWAYS DO. NOT EVERY DAY IS A HOLIDAY. BUT EVERY DAY, YOU CAN WAKE UP AND SAY THAT IT'S OKAY TO HAVE A PLAIN OLD DAY. A PLAIN OLD DAY CAN BE A LOVELY DAY. A PLAIN OLD DAY CAN BE A LOVELY DAY.
[Gentle music plays]
Donkey asks, SO, HOW YOU FEELING, PANDA PAL?
Panda replies, WELL, MY TUMMY IS HAPPY. THAT'S FOR SURE!
[Teacup clinking, Panda sighing]
Panda puts down his plate.
Panda says, BUT I'M STILL FEELING HEY-HO-HUM.
Donkey says, MMM. YOU KNOW WHAT I DID THE DAY AFTER MY BIRTHDAY? I SAT IN BED, AND I JUST LET MYSELF FEEL SAD FOR A LITTLE WHILE. BUT THEN I DECIDED THAT I SHOULD DO WHAT I DO EVERY DAY. SO, I JUST GOT UP, AND I MADE MY BED.
Panda says, OH, I HAVEN'T MADE MY BED ALL WEEK. I MEAN, MAKING YOUR BED IS SUCH A PLAIN OLD, HEY-HO-HUM THING TO DO. WAIT, SO HOW DID IT MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER?
Donkey says, WELL, IT FELT GOOD TO GET BACK TO MY USUAL ROUTINE. I LIKE THE LITTLE THINGS I DO EVERY DAY. DON'T YOU?
Panda says, HMM. I GUESS SO. I MEAN, I LIKED MY PLAIN OLD USUAL BREAKFAST, SO MAYBE MAKING MY BED LIKE I DO EVERY DAY WILL FEEL GOOD TOO.
[Jazzy music plays, blankets rustling]
Panda and Donkey make the bed. Donkey throws a pillow to Panda, and he puts it on the bed.
Donkey sings, WHEN PARTY TIME IS IN THE PAST, YOU WISH THAT IT COULD LAST AND LAST. BUT SOME DAYS ARE A PARTY, SOME ARE NOT. A PLAIN OLD DAY SEEMS LIKE A BORE, BUT DOING JUST THE SMALLEST CHORE COULD CHEER YOU UP A LITTLE OR A LOT. NOT EVERY DAY HAS A BIG PARADE. BUT EVERY DAY, YOUR BED CAN STILL BE MADE, AND IT'S OKAY TO HAVE A PLAIN OLD DAY. A PLAIN OLD DAY CAN BE A LOVELY DAY. A PLAIN OLD DAY CAN BE A LOVELY DAY.
[Upbeat music plays]
Panda says, WOW, LOOK AT THAT!
[Chuckling]
Panda says, MY BED LOOKS GREAT! IT HASN'T LOOKED LIKE THAT IN OVER A WEEK! WOW! YOU KNOW, I'M SO HAPPY THAT I THINK I WANT TO DO SOMETHING ELSE THAT I USUALLY DO EVERY DAY. DRAW A PICTURE! HEY, DONKEY, DO YOU WANT TO DRAW WITH ME?
Donkey says, OH, I'D LOVE TO, PANDA PAL!
[Panda giggling]
Donkey asks, SHALL WE MAKE OUR WAY TO ART BOX?
Panda says, WE SHALL!
Both say, TO THE ART BOX!
[Giggling, whooshing, creaking, thumping]
Panda opens his art box, full of strips of paper, twisted pipe cleaners, and a paintbrush.
Donkey says, HMM. LET ME GUESS. YOU DIDN'T CLEAN YOUR ART BOX DURING SPECTACULAR SEASON?
Panda says, UH, YEAH, NO.
Donkey takes a sparkling shoe out of the art box.
Donkey says, UH...IS THIS A TAP SHOE?
Panda replies, YES, IT IS. BUT WE CANNOT DRAW PICTURES WITH A TAP SHOE.
[Donkey giggling]
Donkey says, WE SURE CAN'T.
[Panda giggling, Donkey gasping, upbeat music plays]
Donkey pretends the tap shoe is a microphone.
Donkey says, I MEAN...THAT'S RIGHT, PANDA! WHICH MEANS IT'S TIME TO PLAY THE HEE-HAWESOME GAME, "IS IT PICTURE-DRAWING STUFF?"
Panda says, HEY-OH! LET'S PLAY!
[Slide whistle, tense music plays]
Donkey picks up coloured pencils.
Donkey says, COLOURED PENCILS. PICTURE-DRAWING STUFF OR NOT PICTURE-DRAWING STUFF?
Panda says, UH, PICTURE-DRAWING STUFF!
Donkey picks up a sparkling purple hat.
Donkey says, STYLISH HAT?
Panda says, OOH! NOT PICTURE-DRAWING STUFF.
[Thumping]
Donkey picks up a box of crayons.
Donkey says, BOX OF CRAYONS?
Panda says, PICTURE-DRAWING STUFF!
Donkey takes a hot dog toy out of the art box.
Donkey says, HOT DOG SQUEAKY TOY?
[Squeaking]
Panda says, DEFINITELY NOT PICTURE-DRAWING STUFF. AND ALSO, I NEED TO GET THAT BACK TO BOB DOG.
[Rustling, squeaking]
Donkey says, PAPER?
Panda says, PICTURE-DRAWING STUFF!
[Upbeat music plays]
Donkey says, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING! WE HAVE COLOURED PENCILS, CRAYONS, AND PAPER! THAT MEANS THE GAME IS OVER, AND WE CAN DRAW PICTURES. YOU WIN, PANDA!
Panda says, YOU WIN TOO, DONKEY!
[Giggling]
Both say, LET'S DRAW!
[Happy music plays, crayons scratching]
Donkey and Panda draw.
Panda says, YOU KNOW, MY ROOM DOESN'T LOOK SO PLAIN AND EMPTY ANYMORE. IT'S NICE AND CLEAN AND CALM. PERFECT FOR DRAWING.
Donkey says, WELL, WHAT ARE YOU DRAWING, PANDA?
Panda says, I'M DRAWING A REALLY HAPPY MEMORY.
Donkey says, OOH! IS IT FROM SPECTACULAR SEASON?
[Paper rustling]
Panda shows Donkey his picture of the two of them sitting on the edge of the bed.
Panda says, NOPE! IT'S A PICTURE OF ME HANGING OUT WITH MY BEST FRIEND ON THIS PLAIN OLD DAY. AND THAT'S NEVER HEY-HO-HUM.
[Panda giggling]
Donkey says, AWW.
[Jazzy music plays]
Panda sings, IT'S FUN TO DANCE AND CELEBRATE. SPECTACULAR SEASON WAS SO GREAT, AND NOW IT'S OVER FOR ANOTHER YEAR. BUT LITTLE THINGS LIKE TOAST AND TEA AND TIDYING HAVE MADE ME SEE, I LIKE THIS PLAIN OLD DAY WITH YOU RIGHT HERE. NOT EVERY DAY IS A BIG PARADE, BUT EVERY DAY YOU CAN LAUGH AND PLAY.

Both sing, AND IT'S OKAY TO HAVE A PLAIN OLD DAY. A PLAIN OLD DAY CAN BE A LOVELY DAY. A PLAIN OLD DAY CAN BE A LOVELY DAY.

Panda says, IT SURE IS, DONKEY.
