Descriptive Transcript

[Bushes rustling, guitar music plays]

DESCRIPTION: In an animation, at Forest Camp for Young Birds, Odo, a brown and white owl, pops up as other campers scatter and hide behind bushes and trees.
ODO: Ha-ha, here I come.

DOODLE SINGS: Odo.

THREE CHICKENS SING: Odo.

BIRDS AND A PEACOCK SING: Odo.

THREE YELLOW CANARIES SING: Odo.

[Mud splashes]

DESCRIPTION: Odo jumps into a muddy puddle.

TOUCANS SING: Odo.

FLAMINGOS SING: Odo.

EVERYONE SINGS: Odo.

DESCRIPTION: Odo winks.

[Episode title] The Big Stink.

[Upbeat music plays, whooshing]

DESCRIPTION: At the camp, Camp Leader holds a can of peaches. Behind her, a swan twirls, and the other swan laughs. Joe hides behind a tree stump, and Flo and Shirley stand on either side of him, looking around.

CAMP LEADER: Ah, another beautiful morning in Forest Camp. And since the campers have play time, that means... hoo-hoo, I can enjoy my morning peaches.

[Can lid clinks, Camp Leader chuckles, sniffs, gulps, coughs, unhappy music notes play]

DESCRIPTION: Camp Leader opens the can and sniffs, just as a green vapour arrives.

CAMP LEADER: Oh, what is that smell?!

[Campers groan, Camp Leader sniffs, can lid clanks]

DESCRIPTION: Camp Leader waves her hat in front of her face. The chickens and swans cover their beaks and run away. Camp Leader sniffs her peaches, then puts the lid on the can.

CAMP LEADER: Oh, phew! Well, it's not my peaches. I'm going to enjoy you little beauties somewhere less smelly!

[Footsteps rustle, feathers whoosh, mellow music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Feathers wave. In a clearing, Thelma and Leonardo sit on blue yoga mats, with their eyes shut and their wings raised.

THELMA: Breathe out.

[Both exhale, Leonardo sighs happily]

DESCRIPTION: The green vapour drifts towards Thelma and Leonardo.

THELMA: And breathe in...

[Thelma inhales deeply, gasps, gags, Leonardo gasps, unhappy music notes play]

DESCRIPTION: Leonardo holds his train in front of his face and waves it.

LEONARDO: What is that stink? This is not at all relaxing!

[Thelma whimpers, upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Thelma runs away. Nearby, Louie reaches into a top hat and lifts up a bouquet. Bud stands beside him, wearing his own top hat and smiling.

LOUIE: Oh, ah!

DESCRIPTION: Martin watches, open-mouthed.

LOUIE AND BUD: Ta-da!

MARTIN: Yay!

[Jumps whoosh, Martin laughs, sniffs, groans]

DESCRIPTION: Louie offers Martin the bouquet, and he jumps excitedly. The green vapour drifts past him, and his eyes widen.

MARTIN: That stinks!

[Bouquet rustles]

LOUIE: Oh, we thought it was pretty good.

[Louie and Bud laugh, groan, coughing, gagging, light music plays]

DESCRIPTION: The green vapour reaches Louie and Bud. Bud takes off his top hat and coughs into it. The chickens arrive and stop behind them.

FLO: Ugh, what is that smell?

JOE: Well, it isn't me!

SHIRLEY: Or me!

FLO: Keep your beaks closed!

[Everyone inhales, muffled whimpers]

DESCRIPTION: The chickens, Martin, Bud, and Louie, hold their breath as Thelma and Leonardo arrive. With his train in front of his face, Leonardo bumps into Shirley, who knocks Louie into his top hat. Everyone flaps their wings.

LOUIE: Oh, oh!

[All exclaiming]

DESCRIPTION: Odo and Doodle arrive.

LOUIE: That really stinks!

[All clamouring]

ODO: What's everybody arguing about?

CAMPERS: The big stink!

DOODLE: What big--?

[Doodle gasps, groans]

DESCRIPTION: The green vapour reaches Doodle and Odo. She covers her beak, and he waves his wing in front of his face.

ODO: Ew, where is it coming from?

CAMPERS: Don't look at me!

[Upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Odo and Doodle cover their beaks. Odo looks around with narrowed eyes, then waves his wings in front of his face.

ODO: Ugh, don't worry, everyone. We'll find out exactly where the big stink's coming from. Woof!

DOODLE, MUFFLED: Do you think we can, Odo?

ODO, MUFFLED: I know we can!

[Everyone groans, feathers whoosh, squeak, sputtering, suspenseful music plays, Odo gasps]

DESCRIPTION: Odo, Doodle, and the other campers follow the vapour trail.

ODO: I heard it! It's coming from over there!

[Squeaking, sputtering]

LEONARDO: It's coming from your house, Odo!

ODO: Huh?

[Suspenseful music continues, squeaks, sputtering, Odo gasps]

DESCRIPTION: The campers run up the stairs to Odo’s house, where his dad drills on the front door hinges.

ODO’S DAD: There we go, all fixed. No more squeaks.

ALL: Oh!

[Mellow music plays]

LOUIE: It's the door!

BUD: Case opened... and closed.

[Bud, chickens, Louie, Thelma, and Martin laugh]

ODO: Just a squeaky door. Sorry, Dad. We thought the big stink was coming from you.

[Odo’s dad chuckles]

ODO’S DAD: The only big stink in this house is coming from the kitchen. It's bin day!

[Bag crinkles]

DESCRIPTION: Odo’s mum takes a paper bag out of a bin.

ODO: Ah!

ODO’S MUM: Hello, you two.

ODO: Aha, Mum, it's you making the big stink.

[Drips splash, Odo’s mum yawns]

DESCRIPTION: Liquid drips through the bottom of the bag.

ODO’S MUM: I am?

[Odo’s mum exclaims, trash thuds]

DESCRIPTION: The bottom of the bag breaks, and trash lands on the floor.

ODO’S MUM: Oh! I am! Quick, tidy-up time.

[Lively music plays, broom rustles, trash thuds, Odo and Doodle grunt, mop rustles]

DESCRIPTION: Odo sweeps the trash into a new bag held by Doodle. Odo’s mum mops the dirty spot on the floor. Doodle wipes her brow with her wing.

DOODLE: Phew!

[Doodle sniffs and gasps, descending music notes play]

DESCRIPTION: The green vapour drifts into the room. She and Odo cover their beaks with their wings.

DOODLE: Oh, no! I can still smell it!

[Mop thuds, wings flap]

DESCRIPTION: Odo’s mum drops the mop and flaps her wings. Outside, Odo’s dad and the others cover their beaks.

ODO’S MUM: Oh, uh... Eh...

ODO: Quick, Doodle! Follow that smell!

[Thump]

DESCRIPTION: Odo gives his mum the new bag.

DOODLE: Okay, Odo. If we really have to.

[Feathers whoosh, bird sings, upbeat music plays, footsteps rustle]

DESCRIPTION: Feathers wave. Later, the campers walk in the forest, following the vapour trail.

MARTIN: It's getting stronger. We must be getting close.

DESCRIPTION: Michael sits in front of his house, holding a wedge of cheese. Yellow vapour drifts towards the campers.

ODO: We found it! It's Michael's stinky cheese!

MICHAEL: My cheese is not stinky! It's delicious!

[Michael munches, Odo sniff, groans, sad music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Michael eats his cheese, then runs into his house. The green vapour fills the clearing around the campers.

THELMA: Ugh, so it's not Michael and his not-very-stinky cheese.

DOODLE: Maybe while we look for where the big stink is coming from, we could also try to make it go away with a nice smell.

[Whoosh, triumphant music notes play]

DESCRIPTION: Doodle hops into a bush and holds up a sprig of lavender. Purple vapour rises from the flowering plant.

DOODLE: Hup! Lavender.

[Whooshes, light music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Doodle jumps back into the clearing, spins, and holds out the lavender. Purple vapour fills the clearing.

DOODLE: Whee! Whoo!

[Campers laugh]

ODO: It's working, Doodle! Faster!

[Lavendar rustles]

DESCRIPTION: Doodle wobbles and falls on her back. The green vapour flows over her.

DOODLE: Wha... wha... Oof!

[Doodle groans]

ODO: Don't worry, we'll find that stink. We just need to follow...

[Loud squelches, campers gasp]

ODO: Our ears!

[Whoosh, bird chirps, loud squelches continue]

DESCRIPTION: Feathers wave. Later, the campers stop covering their beaks and stare wide-eyed.

CAMPERS: Ruby and Rosie?!

[Squelching]

DESCRIPTION: Ruby and Rosie smile with their eyes shut, walking in place. The green vapour stops near the top of their legs.

ODO: The big stink is coming from you?

ROSIE: We're just breaking in our new rain boots.

[Boots squelch]

DESCRIPTION: Ruby and Rosie walk in place in a muddy puddle.

CAMPERS: Oh!

LOUIE: They sounded like a very loud—

[Sputter, loud honk, campers gasp, sputter, loud honk]

DESCRIPTION: The campers run to Camp Leader’s hut

ODO: Camp Leader, are you okay?

DESCRIPTION: Camp Leader walks to the door, carrying bagpipes.

CAMP LEADER: Oh, yes. I'm just tuning my bagpipes.

[Sputter, off-key notes play]

DESCRIPTION: Camp Leader plays the bagpipes.

CAMP LEADER: There we go. Now, what are you all—

[Dramatic music notes play]

DESCRIPTION: Camp Leader walks outside and startles, her eyes wide.

CAMP LEADER: Ugh! Oh, that stink! Still here. Oh!

DESCRIPTION: Camp Leader covers her beak with her hat.

ODO: We've been following it all day, trying to find out where it's coming from.

CAMP LEADER: Oh, and you thought it might be coming from me?

CAMPERS: And me!

LEONARDO: And even me!

ODO: Uh...

CAMP LEADER: Now, campers, I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable explanation. And I think I know exactly where to look.

[Camp Leader groans, feathers whoosh, Inspector Feathers hums, fertilizer rustles, pats, footsteps rustle, upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Camp Leader fans the air in front of her beak with her hat. Feathers wave. Elsewhere, Inspector Feathers drops a shovel-full of fertilizer beside tomato plants in her garden and pats it with her wing. Camp Leader and the campers arrive, following the green vapour.

CAMP LEADER: Ah, Inspector Feathers. I thought you might be here.

INSPECTOR FEATHERS: Oh, hello, everyone! Have you come to help me replant my tomato plants? How very thoughtful.

ODO: Ew, the smell! It's coming from the bucket!

[Campers gasp, fertilizer squelches]

DESCRIPTION: The green vapour rises from the bucket beside Inspector Feathers. She scoops out fertilizer and puts it in the garden.

INSPECTOR FEATHERS: Oh, yes, my special fertilizer, the key to helping plants grow.

[Buzzing]

DESCRIPTION: A bee flies over the garden.

INSPECTOR FEATHERS: Look how well my blossoms have bloomed.

[Everyone exclaims]

INSPECTOR FEATHERS: You really shouldn't worry about the smell. It's all part of nature's recipe for growth.

[Everyone gasps, campers cheer, laugh]

DESCRIPTION: The campers cover their beaks, and Inspector Feathers puts a lid on the bucket. Everyone else uncovers their beak and jumps happily.

ODO: We did it, Doodle. We found the big stink.

DOODLE: And we got rid of it.

CAMP LEADER: That sounds like hungry work. Inspector Feathers, how about a tasty lunch straight from the vegetable patch?

INSPECTOR FEATHERS: What a great idea!

[Feathers whoosh, excited chattering, upbeat music plays, bouquet rustles]

DESCRIPTION: Feathers wave. Later, the campers, Camp Leader, and Inspector Feathers sit on sticks in a clearing, with vegetables and lemonade on three tree stumps in the centre. Bud and Louie appear, with Bud wearing his top hat. Louie reaches into his top hat and takes out a bouquet.

BOTH: Ta-da!

[Everyone laughs, flatulence toots loudly]

DESCRIPTION: Everyone stops laughing and looks at their neighbours on the bench.

[Everyone laughs]

[Upbeat music plays]
