Descriptive Transcript

[Bushes rustling, guitar music plays]

DESCRIPTION: In an animation, at Forest Camp for Young Birds, Odo, a brown and white owl, pops up as other campers scatter and hide behind bushes and trees.

ODO: Ha-ha, here I come.

DOODLE SINGS: Odo.

THREE CHICKENS SING: Odo.

BIRDS AND A PEACOCK SING: Odo.

THREE YELLOW CANARIES SING: Odo.

[Mud splashes]

DESCRIPTION: Odo jumps into a muddy puddle.

TOUCANS SING: Odo.

FLAMINGOS SING: Odo.

EVERYONE SINGS: Odo.

DESCRIPTION: Odo winks.

[Episode Title] Imaginary Friends.

[Upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: On a bright, sunny day at camp, Camp Leader holds a megaphone.

CAMP LEADER, THROUGH THE MEGAPHONE: Come along, campers! It's seed snack time!

[Chickens cluck, seeds clatter]

DESCRIPTION: The campers line up, holding bowls, and Camp Leader ladles seeds into each bowl. John John carries his seeds away, and Rosie and Ruby move to the front of the line. At the end of the line, Odo and Doodle line up behind Anna and Rudi.

ODO: Mm, those seeds look delicious!

[Light music plays]

ANNA: Hey, Rudi, don't push in. I was here first.

[Rudi scoffs]

DESCRIPTION: Anna moves in front of Rudi.

RUDI: I was here before you were, Anna.

ODO: Maybe you could take it in turns.

DESCRIPTION: Rudi runs around Anna and stands in front of her in line.

ANNA: I'm first!

RUDI: No, me!

ANNA: No, I am!

DOODLE: This doesn't look very good. What shall we do?

ANNA: You can start by telling Rudi that I don't want to be his friend! Hmph!

[Everyone gasps, grass rustles, Leonardo spits, discordant music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Anna turns her back to Rudi, whose eyes widen, and he drops his bowl. The other campers look at the swans, and Leonardo spits out a mouthful of seeds.

RUDI: And you can tell Anna that I already didn't want to be her friend!

[Everyone gasps]

RUDI: And she is not invited to my birthday party!

[Chickens gasp, spit]

DESCRIPTION: Flo, Joe, and Shirley spit out their seeds.

ODO: Oh, no! It's very sad if the swans aren't friends anymore.

DOODLE: Imagine if we weren't friends, Odo.

[Odo gasps]

ANNA: "Imagine," you say, Doodle? That's a very good idea. I'll just imagine myself a new best friend.

[Anna grunts, Rudi gasps]

DESCRIPTION: Anna squeezes her eyes shut, then gestures beside her.

ANNA: Ta-da! Please meet my new best friend, Roy! Mm-hm. Roy says hello.
RUDI: Huh?

DOODLE: Um... hello, Roy.

DESCRIPTION: Doodle imitates shaking hands.

ANNA: That's not actually Roy's wing, Doodle. But never mind. Come on, Roy. Let's go and play!

[Feathers whoosh, bird sings]

DESCRIPTION: Later, Anna plays a game of tic-tac-toe on the grass, using conkers and leaves. She places a conker in the middle of the row, making a row.

ANNA: Oh, and you want to go here?

[Anna giggles, laughs]

DESCRIPTION: Anna claps her wings together. Rudi arrives with narrowed eyes and stands beside Odo and Doodle. Later, he watches Anna from behind bushes near the stage.

ANNA: Roy, that's hilarious!

[Anna laughs, Rudi grumbles]

DESCRIPTION: Later, Anna sits on the seesaw with the other end high in the air.

ANNA: I guess you must be a bit lighter than me, Roy. Never mind! We're having such a good time!

[Anna laughs, Rudi grumbles, seeds rustle, grass rustles]

DESCRIPTION: Nearby, Rudi jumps off a tree stump and walks away. Anna feeds Roy seeds, and they fall on the grass when she lets go.

ANNA: You're my best friend ever, Roy! We will always be invited to each other's birthday parties.

[Rudi scoffs, whoosh]

DESCRIPTION: Nearby, Rudi puts his seed bowl down by Odo and Doodle.

RUDI: Anna isn't the only one who can have an imaginary friend.

[Rudi grunts, tense music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Rudi squeezes one eye shut and holds his head. His open eye twitches, then he smiles and lowers his wings. He gestures at the air beside him.

RUDI: There! Everyone, meet Adam.

DOODLE: Um... hello, Adam.

DESCRIPTION: Doodle imitates shaking hands.

RUDI: That's his tail, Doodle. But doesn't matter. Come on, Adam. Let's go have some fun.

[Upbeat music plays, footsteps rustle]

DESCRIPTION: Rudi puts his left wing around his imaginary friend’s shoulder and guides him past Anna and around a tree stump.

RUDI: Oh, mind that tree stump, Adam!

[Anna sighs]

DESCRIPTION: Rudi pauses at the entrance to a cave, and Anna narrows her eyes.

RUDI: And look out for that cave. It's pretty dark in there.

[Anna scoffs]

RUDI: Leaf goes there?

[Rudie chuckles]

DESCRIPTION: Rudi places a leaf in the centre square of a tic-tac-toe board, forming a diagonal line.

RUDI: Oh, Adam! You win every time.

[Swing rope creaks]

DESCRIPTION: Anna watches from behind a tree. Later, Rudi sits on a swing, and Anna stands in front of him with her right wing around Roy’s shoulder.

RUDI: Push, Adam! A little harder.

[Tense music plays]

ANNA: Hmm? Oh, yes, you're right, Roy! Adam is no good at pushing a swing.

[Rudi gasps]

DESCRIPTION: Rudi walks to Anna.

RUDI: Ah! Actually, Adam says he saw Roy try to push a swing, and he couldn't even reach it!

[Anna and Rudi scoff]

DESCRIPTION: Rudi and Anna turn their backs to each other as Doodle and Odo watch nearby.

DOODLE: Oh, dear, Odo. Do you think Anna and Rudi will ever be friends again?

[Whoosh, surprised music notes play]

ODO: They will if we help. I know we can! All we need to do is-- Hey! Anna and Rudi have gone!

DESCRIPTION: Doodle points towards the swing.

DOODLE: And so have Adam and Roy! Or... I think they're gone. It's actually quite hard to know for sure.

[Bush rustles, sharp music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Odo and Doodle watch leaves move on a bush near the edge of the forest.

RUDI: Adam says we should go this way!

ANNA: Roy thinks we should go this way!

ODO: That's them, Doodle. Come on!

[Feathers whoosh, bird sings, sharp music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Feathers wave. Rudi and Anna stand at the cave entrance.

RUDI: Adam thinks there may be precious treasure inside this cave.

ANNA: Well, Roy says there definitely is precious treasure inside this cave.

ODO: I don't think any of you should go in there at all!

[Anna scoffs, mellow music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Anna and Rudi enter the cave. Doodle talks to the air beside her.

DOODLE: So, um... lovely weather we're having, don't you think... Adam? Or are you Roy?

ODO: Neither, Doodle. They both went in the cave with the swans.

DOODLE: Oh, right. Yes. Imaginary friends can be quite confusing.

[Anna pants, anxious music plays]

DESCRIPTION: In the dark cave, Anna and Rudie wander separately in and out of tunnel openings.

RUDI: Turn here, Adam?

ANNA: Go left? You've got it, Roy.

RUDI: Haven't we been past this moss before, Adam?

ANNA: Oh, did we see that rock already, Roy?

[Rudi whimpers, thump, Anna gasps, tense music plays, both gasp fearfully]

DESCRIPTION: Rudi and Anna bump into each other in the darkness.

ANNA: Oh, it's you! Which way are you going?

RUDIE: I'm not really sure. And neither is Adam.

ANNA: I'm not sure where I'm going either. And Roy doesn't have a clue.

RUDI AND ANNA SHOUT: Help!

[Odo gasps]

DESCRIPTION: Outside, Odo and Doodle jump to their feet.

RUDI: Help us!

ANNA: We're lost!

ODO: Oh, no! I'd better go and try to find them. Owls can see in the dark, after all.

[Footsteps rustle]

DESCRIPTION: Odo runs into the cave.

ANNA: Somebody help!

[Footsteps patter, upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Odo runs deeper into the cave.

ODO: Anna! Rudi!

RUDI: Help!

ANNA: Odo! Oh, it's Odo. We're here, Odo!

DESCRIPTION: Odo runs to a tunnel, listens, then runs inside.

RUDI: Follow our voices, Odo! Help us! Help!

DESCRIPTION: Odo finds the swans.

ANNA: Help!

[Anna shudders, footsteps patter, Odo pants]

ODO: Don't worry, swans. Follow me out. If it's too dark, hold each other's wings.

RUDI: Oh, I can't feel Adam's wing!

DESCRIPTION: Anna touches a tree root near the top of the tunnel.

ANNA: And that's not Roy's wing. I don't know what it is.

ODO: Try holding each other's wings instead.

RUDI: Anna.

ANNA: Rudi.

[Thump, Anna sighs, soft music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Rudi and Anna reach out in the darkness and hold each other’s wings.

ANNA: Your wing is much warmer than Roy's, Rudi.

RUDI: Heh, and yours is cozier than Adam's.

[Feathers whoosh, Doodle gasps]

DESCRIPTION: Feathers wave. At the cave entrance, Doodle peers anxiously into the darkness. Odo, Anna, and Rudi run toward the entrance.

ANNA: Yay!

RUDI: Ha-ha, we're free! Woo-hoo!


[Both swans laugh, sigh]

DESCRIPTION: Rudi flies up, then lands. He and Anna hug. They let go and hold wings as they face Odo and Doodle.

ANNA: Thanks, Odo. And thanks, Rudi. I'd be lost without you.

DESCRIPTION: Anna hugs Rudi, and Odo and Doodle watch with tear-filled eyes.

RUDI: And I'd be lost without you, Anna! And you can still come to my birthday party.

[Upbeat music plays]

CAMP LEADER, THROUGH THE MEGAPHONE: Campers! It's afternoon seed time!

DESCRIPTION: At the camp, Camp Leader holds a ladle full of seeds. Anna and Rudi stand beside the cave entrance.

ANNA: Rudi can go first.

RUDI: Why, thank you, Anna, but I think it's your turn to go first.

DESCRIPTION: Anna and Rudi walk towards the camp.

ANNA: No, it's your turn to go first. You!

DOODLE: It's good they're best friends again, Odo. But what will happen to Adam and Roy?

[Bird sings]

ODO: Hmm... I know! Maybe they'd like to play Leaves and Conkers with us.

[Doodle giggles]

DOODLE: Yes! They'd like to be conkers.

[Feathers whoosh, bird chirps]

DESCRIPTION: Feather waves. Later, Odo and Doodle stand by an empty tic-tac-toe board with conkers, a pile of leaves, and three bowls of seeds on the nearby grass.

DOODLE: Oh, you want the middle square? Uh-huh.

DESCRIPTION: Doodle nods, and Odo rolls a conker to the middle square.

ODO: Excellent choice, Adam and Roy.

[Odo and Doodle laugh]

[Upbeat music plays]
