Four says, THIS IS IT. FLATLAND! THE PARTY'S IN HERE.
Two says, I'VE NEVER BEEN TO A SHAPE PARTY BEFORE.
[Four giggling]
Four says, ME NEITHER. LET'S GO.
[Both grunting, whooshing, giggling, light music plays]
Four and Two jump into Flatland. Four becomes a square, and Two becomes a rectangle.
Two says, HOW FUNNY. I'M RECTANGLEY!
[Whooshing, thumping]
Two and Four jump.
Four says, AND I'M A SQUARE.
Four says, HELLO, LINE.
A red line says, HELLO, FOUR! I'M JUST GETTING INTO SHAPE…
[Whooshing]
The red line curves and becomes a red circle.
The circle says, FOR THE PARTY. YOU CAN'T HAVE A PARTY WITHOUT BALLOONS.
[Whooshing, gentle thudding, the red circle laughing, Two and Four exclaiming, light music plays]
A red line connects to the bottom of the red circle, forming a balloon. The red balloon floats away, and two other red balloons appear and lift Four and Two.
Two and Four say, WHOA! WHOA! WHOA!
Two says, YOU CAN TELL A SHAPE BY HOW MANY SIDES IT HAS. THOSE ROUND SHAPES ARE CIRCLES, WITH ONE CURVED EDGE EACH.
[Four grunting]
The balloons drop Four and Two beside four yellow triangles stacked in a house-like shape.
[Triangles grunting, boinging]
The triangles break apart and land on the ground. Four jumps.
Four says, AND THESE ARE TRIANGLES.
Two asks, ALL OF THEM? BUT THEY'RE DIFFERENT SIZES AND DIFFERENT WAYS 'ROUND.
A yellow equilateral triangle says, NOT ALL TRIANGLES ARE AS REGULAR AS I AM, MY DEAR.
[Boinging]
A wide triangle says, SOME OF US ARE WIDE!
[Boinging]
A narrow triangle says, SOME OF US ARE NARROW.
[Whooshing]
A small triangle says, AND SOME OF US ARE WONKY!
[Rustling, dinging]
Four says, WHAT MATTERS IS ONE, TWO, THREE, THREE STRAIGHT SIDES, AND ONE, TWO, THREE, THREE CORNERS MEANS A TRIANGLE.
[Boinging]
In front of Four and Two, a red vertical line bends at a ninety-degree angle. The equilateral triangle bounces on Two and Four’s heads, and bounces past them.
The equilateral triangle says, HOP! WHEE!
Two cheers, PARTY HAT!
[Triangles cheering, giggling]
The small triangle says, WHEE!
[Two and Four giggling]
Two says, YAY!
The triangles stand beneath triangular yellow flags on a string.
The equilateral triangle says, NOW, LET'S DANCE!
[Whooshing, slide whistles, triangles exclaiming, waltz music plays]
The triangles float together and break apart, forming shapes in the air.
Four and Two say, WOW.
Four says, TRIANGLES ARE VERY MUSICAL.
[Dinging]
Three triangles surround the equilateral triangle, creating a larger triangle. All of the triangles fly away.
A green rectangle says, I RECOGNIZE THAT VOICE. OVER HERE, FOUR!
[Footsteps tapping, upbeat music plays]
Four and Two walk to the rectangle.
Four and the rectangle say, FOUR STRAIGHT SIDES! YEAH! FOUR SQUARE CORNERS! WHOO!
Two says, HELLO, I'M--
The rectangle says, NO NEED TO SAY. YOU'RE A RECTANGLE, LIKE ME, WITH FOUR SQUARE CORNERS AND FOUR STRAIGHT SIDES.
Four says, WHICH MEANS I'M A RECTANGLE AS WELL. A SPECIAL ONE, WITH ALL FOUR SIDES THE SAME LENGTH.
The rectangle says, SPEAKING OF FOUR SIDES, HERE COME THE REST OF THE QUAD SQUAD.
[Slide whistle, upbeat music notes play]
Five green quadrilateral shapes arrive.
The quadrilateral shapes sing, QUADRILATERALS!
[Thumping]
The quadrilateral shapes jump.
Four says, OOH, WHAT A WONDERFUL NAME.
Two says, AND WHAT WONDERFUL SHAPES.
The rectangle says, ANY SHAPE WITH FOUR STRAIGHT SIDES HAS A PLACE IN THE QUAD SQUAD. NOW, WHO LIKES PARTY GAMES?
[Everyone cheering, upbeat music plays]
A parallelogram says, LET'S PLAY SHAPE MAKERS!
The quad squad forms a snail-like shape.
The parallelogram says, WHAT ARE WE MAKING?
Two says, A SNAIL.
[Two giggling]
The parallelogram says, VERY GOOD!
The quad squad forms an aircraft-like shape.
The parallelogram asks, AND WHAT ABOUT NOW?
[Whooshing, rumbling]
Four connect to the end of the other green shapes, and two connect to four.
Four says, WHOA! WE'RE A ROCKET SHIP.
[Whooshing]
The rocketship flies. Four and Two fall to the ground.
Two and Four say, WOO-HOO!
Four says, SEE YA LATER, FOLKS.
Two says, BYE!
[Thumping]
Blue pentagons and purple hexagons move on a line above Two and Four.
Two says, OH, LOOK. UP THERE. WHO ARE THEY?
Four explains, THE SHAPES WITH FIVE SIDES AND FIVE CORNERS ARE PENTAGONS.
The pentagons say, PENTAGONS.
Four explains, AND THE SHAPES WITH SIX SIDES AND SIX CORNERS ARE HEXAGONS.
The hexagons say, HEXAGONS.
Four explains, NO MATTER HOW BIG OR SMALL OR WHICH WAY UP.
Two says, ALL THAT MATTERS IS HOW MANY STRAIGHT SIDES.
Four says, THAT'S RIGHT. WHETHER THEY'RE REGULAR LOOKING.
[Whooshing]
A pentagon with a star over one eye says, ALL SIDES THE SAME LENGTH.
A hexagon with long eyelashes says, AND ALL CORNERS THE SAME, TOO.
Four says, OR, AS IRREGULAR ARE YOU LIKE.
[Thumping]
A large pentagon with sides of varying lengths rolls off the line.
The large pentagon says, I AM STILL A...
[Grunting, thumping]
The large pentagon falls on the ground in front of Four.
The large pentagon continues, PENTAGON!
[Thumping, whooshing]

Two says, SO, WAIT, ARE YOU A HEXAGON?
[Dinging, whooshing]
The arrowhead hexagon’s sides light up, and they flip.
The arrowhead hexagon says, THAT QUESTION IS EASILY DECIDED. I'M ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE, SIX, SIX-SIDED!
[Disco music plays, zapping, whooshing]
Four and Two walk behind the arrowhead hexagon. In the air, a rainbow-striped heptagon shape turns. Each time it turns, a different-coloured beam of light touches the ground beneath it. The purple arrowhead hexagon passes through a red beam and changes to red. The hexagon flies away.
The heptagon says, HELLO, EVERYONE. HEPTAGON HERE. YOUR LUCKY SEVEN-SIDED FRIEND. PICK A COLOUR. ANY COLOUR.
[Zapping, giggling]
Two bounces through a green beam of light and turns green.
Two says, WOW. NOW I REALLY FEEL LIKE PART OF THE QUAD SQUAD.
[Four giggling, disco music continues]
