[Cheerful music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In animation, five block friends run through a field in NumberLand. One is one red building block with one eye. Two is two orange blocks with glasses. Three is three yellow blocks wearing a crown. Four is a square of four green blocks. Five is five blue blocks with a star over their left eye, wearing a big blue glove.
SINGER: One, two, three, four, five, NumberBlocks. Six, seven, eight, nine, ten,
NumberBlocks.
DESCRIPTION: Six is a rectangle of purple building blocks with light purple dots. Seven is seven different coloured blocks that make a rainbow. Eight is a rectangle of eight pink blocks with tentacles. Nine is a 3 by 3 square with grey blocks. Ten is ten white blocks outlined in red wearing red star sunglasses.
SINGER: One and another one is two, and another one is…
DESCRIPTION: Two One NumberBlocks make a Two NumberBlock. A third joins and makes a Three NumberBlock.
THREE: Me!
SINGER: …that's three!
DESCRIPTION: NumberBlocks One, Two, Three, Four and Five fly in space. They land on Earth and run through NumberLand.
SINGER: Five, four, three, two, one, time for some number fun. You can count on us, we're the NumberBlocks!
[Title] NumberBlocks.
[Intense music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In a jungle, a giant green monster stomps between the trees.
MONSTER: Me Blockzilla! Me like big things!
[Loud rumbling]
DESCRIPTION: The monster, Blockzilla, looks around.
BLOCKZILLA: Huh? Thunder?
[Rumbling continues]
[Blockzilla laughing]
BLOCKZILLA: Is not thunder! Is me tummy! Me hungry! But me have nothing to eat.
[Blockzilla’s tummy rumbling]
DESCRIPTION: Elsewhere in the jungle, in a small clearing, NumberBlocks One, Two, Three and Four sit on boulders with their backs to a nearby scale.
THREE: Oh, is that thunder?
[One giggling]
ONE: It's not thunder, Three. It's Blockzilla! She's hungry.
BLOCKZILLA SHOUTING: Me hungry!
TWO: Then let's get her some lunch. Come on, everyone!
DESCRIPTION: One and Four throw on nearby backpacks and run toward Blockzilla. Two and Three struggle to pick up their backpacks.
[Grunting]
DESCRIPTION: One and Four look back toward their friends.
FOUR: Are you two all right?
[Two and Three grunting]
THREE: It's a bit heavy, Four.
ONE: It shouldn't be. All the rucksacks are the same size.
FOUR: Let me see.
DESCRIPTION: Four picks up Three’s backpack, also known as a rucksack.
[Four grunting]
FOUR: Yours is definitely heavier than mine, Three.
THREE: Well, that's not fair. We should all have the same weight to carry.
ONE: Let's look inside!
Description One takes one small purple block out of their bag.
ONE: Ah. Oh!
DESCRIPTION: Two takes three purple blocks out of their bag.
[Three grunting]
DESCRIPTION: Three takes two purple blocks and one large green block out of their bag.
[Three grunting]
DESCRIPTION: Four takes one green block out of their bag.
[Four giggling]
THREE: Well, no wonder. We all have the same size bag, but they've got different amounts of block fruit in them.
ONE: If our bags are the same, they should weigh the same.
TWO: So it's the block fruit that make the difference! We need to weigh them.
DESCRIPTION: Two balances the scale with one purple block fruit on each scale plate.
FOUR: Oh, it balances!
ONE: The purple block fruit weigh the same as each other.
TWO: What about the green block fruit?
DESCRIPTION: Two tries to pick up a green block fruit.
[Two grunting]
TWO: These are heavy!
FOUR: Let me help.
[Four grunting]
TWO: Oh!
DESCRIPTION: Four carries Two, both green block fruits in one arm and four purple block fruit in the other.
[Four chuckling]
DESCRIPTION: Two hops down, and Four balances the scale with one green block fruit on each plate.
ONE: They weigh the same as each other, too!
THREE: But does a green block fruit weigh the same as a purple block fruit?
DESCRIPTION: Four and Three replaces one of the green block fruit with a purple block fruit. The green block fruit weighs down the scale.
TWO: Ah! There's our problem. The green block fruit is heavier than the purple block fruit.
ONE: But how much heavier?
DESCRIPTION: Three adds a second, and then a third purple block fruit to the purple block fruit plate and balances the scale.
ONE: Ah, one green block fruit weighs the same as three purple block fruit!
THREE: Which means one green block fruit is three times as heavy as one purple block fruit.
DESCRIPTION: In four piles, Four and Two lay out purple block fruit in groups of three with the green block fruit.
FOUR: These weigh the same. Four piles, four bags!
BLOCKZILLA SHOUTING: Me very hungry!
ONE: We're coming, Blockzy!
DESCRIPTION: Four, Three, Two and One pack their backpacks with even weight in each. Four grabs thier backpack and runs toward Blockzilla, also known as Blockzy.
[One, Two and Three grunting]
DESCRIPTION: Four looks back toward the others struggling with the weight of their backpacks. One stumbles onto their back.
FOUR: Let me help you. Square power!
DESCRIPTION: Four runs back to the others.
[Four grunting]
DESCRIPTION: Four carries all the backpacks.
[One, Two and Three cheering]
DESCRIPTION: Four runs through the jungle. One, Two and Three follow.
[Exciting music plays]
DESCRIPTION: A plank of wood on a tall boulder in a ravine balances like a scale. A boulder weighs down one end. Four runs over the boulder and weighs down the other side.
[Four grunting]
DESCRIPTION: Four jumps off the plank, and it tips back toward Three.
FOUR: Oh!
[Three giggling
DESCRIPTION: Three runs over the boulder and weighs down the other side.
[Three grunting]
DESCRIPTION: Three slides down the plank and joins Four. The plank tips back toward Two. Two runs over the boulder and across the plank.
[Two grunting]
DESCRIPTION: At the end of the plank, Two tries to weigh it down.
ONE: Oh!
[One gasping]
DESCRIPTION: One runs over the boulder and across the plank. Two and One weigh down the plank and join Three and Four.
[Cheering]
DESCRIPTION: One, Two, Three and Four run through the jungle to Blockzilla.
FOUR: Feeding time for Blockzy!
BLOCKZILLA: Yummy, yummy, yummy! Thank you!
DESCRIPTION: The purple block fruit lands on one plate, and the green block fruit land on another.
BLOCKZILLA: Me love block fruit. Six purple block fruit is greater than two green block fruit. Two green block fruit is fewer than six purple block fruit.
DESCRIPTION: Blockzilla bangs their tail against the ground, and the block fruit swap places on the plates.
BLOCKZILLA: Two is less than six. Me like purple block fruit because me like big numbers!
ONE: Wait a minute, Blockzy. One green block fruit is heavier than one purple block fruit.
BLOCKZILLA: It is?
DESCRIPTION: Blockzilla picks up one green block fruit and one purple block fruit.
BLOCKZILLA: Oh, yes! Me see how heavy they are now. Green block fruit is heavier than purple block fruit!
DESCRIPTION: Blockzilla holds the green block fruit and the purple block fruit in different hands.
BLOCKZILLA: Purple block fruit is lighter than green block fruit! Me like heavy things now, so me like green block fruit.
THREE: Hold on, Blockzy! Three purple block fruit weigh the same as one green block fruit.
ONE: So, what are you going to eat first, Blockzy? Purple or green?
BLOCKZILLA: Hmm.
