[Popping, chiming]
Bumpi writes the show title with the smoke from the exhaust of his spaceship.

In Li Li’s backyard, Edgar the Basset Hound naps beside Li Li, a human girl with short black hair. She sits on the grass, holding a hippopotamus toy and a lion puppet. Other animal toys lie scattered in the grass around her.
Li Li says, GRR, GRR! HELLO, MS. HIPPOPOTAMUS. OH, HELLO, MR. LION. YOU'RE LOOKING EXTRA FEROCIOUS TODAY.
[Edgar growling, rustling]
In the grass, Bumpi slithers as a snake past a toy dinosaur, turtle and bunny.
Bumpi says, OOH!
[Slide whistle]
Bumpi slithers to Li Li.
Li Li says, OH, HI, BUMPI. YOU LOOK JUST LIKE A SNAKE CRAWLING THROUGH THE GRASS.
[The music stops]
Bumpi says, SNEE-AKE?
[Popping, upbeat music plays, snake toy rattling]
Bumpi changes back to his globe shape, and Li Li shows him a toy snake.
Li Li says, THAT'S RIGHT. A SNAKE IS AN ANIMAL THAT'S LONG AND SLITHERY. LOOK. THESE ARE ANIMALS TOO.
Bumpi says, OOH, ANI-MAS.
Li Li says, PRETTY GOOD, BUMPI!
[Slide whistle]
Bumpi looks at Edgar.
Bumpi says, DOO-GIE?
Li Li says, RIGHT, EDGAR IS A DOGGY, BUT THESE ARE OTHER DIFFERENT ANIMALS. HERE, LOOK. THIS IS A HIPPOPOTAMUS.
[Slide whistle]
Bumpi looks at the hippopotamus toy.
Bumpi says, OH. HIPPA-LOOPA-LOPPA-LOOPS?
[Li Li giggling, birds chirping]
Li Li says, YOU CAN JUST CALL IT A "HIPPO" IF IT'S EASIER.
Bumpi says, HE-POS!
[Bumpi grunting, slide whistle, Edgar groaning]
Bumpi turns into a dog-sized hippopotamus.
Li Li says, THAT'S PRETTY FUNNY! BUT HIPPOS ARE MUCH, MUCH BIGGER.
[Grunting, slide whistle, Edgar yipping]
Bumpi grows and squishes Edgar beneath his bottom.
In a deep voice, Bumpi says, HE-PO!
Li Li says, WHOA! YES, THAT'S HOW BIG HIPPOS REALLY ARE, BUT YOU'RE SMOOSHING EDGAR!
[Edgar whining, slide whistle, birds chirping]
Bumpi shrinks.
Bumpi says, HE-PO?
[Upbeat music plays, slide whistle]
Li Li picks up a monkey stuffed toy.
Li Li says, THAT'S A LOT BETTER. AND THIS IS MY MONKEY, DELILAH.
Bumpi says, OH, MON-KAY.
[Whooshing]
Li Li moves Delilah’s arms, imitating swinging from branch to branch.
Li Li says, YEP, MONKEYS LIVE HIGH IN THE TREES IN THE JUNGLE. YOU KNOW, THEY CAN SLEEP IN THE BRANCHES AND NOT FALL OUT.
[Li Li imitating monkey chattering]
Bumpi says, OH!
[Bumpi clapping]
Bumpi says, MOON-KEY! OOO-OOO-EEE!
[Slide whistle, upbeat music plays]
Bumpi changes into a monkey with a monkey head and a hippopotamus’ body, and falls.
Li Li says, ALMOST! MONKEYS HAVE LONG ARMS AND TAILS SO THEY CAN CLIMB AND SWING THROUGH THE TREES.
[Slide whistles, cheerful music plays]
Bumpi changes into a monkey. He leaps up to a tree and swings from branch to branch.
Bumpi says, AH-OM? TO-WAIL! MONKEY, OOO-OOO-OOO! MONKEY! MON-KAY BUMPADOO!
[Bumpi imitating a monkey, Edgar growling, slide whistle, laughing]
Edgar stands and watches Bumpi swing on the branches. Bumpi lets go of a branch and changes into his globe shape as he falls to the grass.
Li Li says, YEP, THAT'S JUST HOW A MONKEY SWINGS.
[Rustling]
Li Li puts on her lion puppet.
Li Li says, HERE, LOOK. THIS IS A LION. GRR!
[Slie whistle, rustling]
Bumpi hides behind the tree.
Bumpi says, WAH! NO LION!
[Gentle music notes play]
Li Li puts the lion puppet down on the grass and pets the side.
Li Li says, DON'T WORRY, HE WON'T EAT YOU. HE JUST HAD LUNCH AND IS REALLY SLEEPY. HAVE A NICE NAP, MR. LION. YOU KNOW, LIONS ARE JUST HUGE CATS.
Bumpi says, OH, CAT.
[Meowing, Edgar grunting, upbeat music plays]
Bumpi changes into a housecat and licks his paw.
Li Li says, BUMPI, LIONS ARE MUCH BIGGER THAN REGULAR CATS, AND THEY... ROAR!
[Slide whistle]
Bumpi grows and turns to Edgar.
Bumpi says, OOH? RAWR!
[Edgar yipping]
Edgar flees.
Li Li says, OH, EDGAR, IT'S OKAY. IT'S JUST BUMPI.
[Edgar whining]
Bumpi changes into a Basset Hound and hangs his head. Edgar peeks out from behind the tree.
[Upbeat music plays]
Bumpi says, DOO-GIE.
Li Li says, OH, BUMPI, YOU'RE RIGHT. THE BEST OF THEM ALL IS THE FEROCIOUS EDGAR.
[Rustling]
Li Li hugs Edgar. Bumpi changes back to his globe shape, extends his arms, and hugs them both.
Bumpi says, OOH, DOO-GIE!
[Edgar sighing]
[Upbeat music plays]

Edgar stands and watches Bumpi swing on the branches. Bumpi lets go of a branch and changes into his globe shape as he falls to the grass.
Li Li says, YEP, THAT'S JUST HOW A MONKEY SWINGS.
[Rustling]
Li Li puts on her lion puppet.
Li Li says, HERE, LOOK. THIS IS A LION. GRR!
[Slie whistle, rustling]
Bumpi hides behind the tree.
Bumpi says, WAH! NO LION!
[Gentle music notes play]
Li Li puts the lion puppet down on the grass and pets the side.
Li Li says, DON'T WORRY, HE WON'T EAT YOU. HE JUST HAD LUNCH AND IS REALLY SLEEPY. HAVE A NICE NAP, MR. LION. YOU KNOW, LIONS ARE JUST HUGE CATS.
Bumpi says, OH, CAT.

[Slide whistle]
Bumpi grows and turns to Edgar.
Bumpi says, OOH? RAWR!
[Edgar yipping]
