In a stop-motion animation, Bumpy, a yellow alien, pilots his spaceship to Earth.
Bumpi says, AH?

Bumpi says, BUMPADOO!
[Popping, chiming]
Bumpi writes the show title with the smoke from the exhaust of his spaceship.

At night, Li Li lies tucked in under her covers with her mom’s shadow on the wall behind her. Edgar the Basset hound lies down on a dog bed.
Li Li says, NIGHT-NIGHT, MOMMY.
Li Li’s mom says, NIGHT-NIGHT, LI LI. AND YOU TOO, EDGAR.
[Edgar groaning, door squeaking, closing, slide whistle]
Bumpi appears at the window and bounces into the room.
Li Li says, BUMPI!
Bumpi says, AH, LI LI!
[Both humming]
They smile and hug.
Li Li says, LET'S PLAY!
[Upbeat music plays, footsteps tapping, clicking, slide whistle]
Li Li picks up a flashlight, turns it on, and shines it around the room. Bumpi startles and jumps on Edgar’s back.
Bumpi says, WOW!
[Edgar grumbling]
Bumpi says, WHOA, OOGLY-BOOGLY!
[Thunking, slide whistle]
Li Li puts the flashlight on the floor. She kneels beside Bumpi and lifts him.
Li Li says, IT'S OKAY, BUMPI. IT'S ONLY A SHADOW.
[Upbeat music plays]
Bumpi shines the flashlight across the room.
Bumpi says, SHA-SHA-SHA... SHA-ZOW?
Li Li says, SEE?
[Twinkling, whooshing]
Li Li uses her hands and makes a butterfly shadow on the wall.
Bumpi says, OOH, OOH! BA-BA-FLEW.
[Whooshing, slide whistle, upbeat music plays]
Li Li takes the flashlight.
Li Li says, I USE MY HANDS TO BLOCK THE LIGHT AND MAKE A BUTTERFLY SHADOW. NOW YOU TRY.
[Dog tags jangling, Edgar grunting, slide whistles, Bumpi vocalizing]
Li Li leans the flashlight against Edgar’s head. Bumpi moves between the flashlight and the wall. He changes into Swiss cheese, a monkey, and a duck.
Bumpi says, QUICK-QUOCK!
Li Li says, WHAT A GREAT DUCK SHADOW.
Li Li makes a duck head with her hands.
Li Li says, QUA-QUA-QUACK, QUACK!
Bumpi says, QUACK, QUACK! QUICK-QUOCK!
Li Li says, QUACK, QUACK!
[Both quacking, slide whistle, water splashing, laughing, Edgar grunting, whooshing]
Bumpi jumps into Edgar’s water bowl, and Edgar sits. Bumpi changes into his globe shape.
Bumpi says, HMM.
[Slide whistle, Bumpi laughing, slide whistle, upbeat music plays]
Bumpi changes into a rocking horse. Li Li puts on a cowboy hat and jumps on Bumpi’s back.
Li Li says, YEE-HAW!
Bumpi says, BUMPADOO!
[Galloping, neighing, dog tags jangling, Edgar groaning]
On the wall, the shadow of a cowboy riding a horse appears. The horse rears up. In the room, Li Li falls backwards off Bumpi, and Edgar catches her.
Li Li says, COME PLAY, EDGAR!
[Tags jangling, Edgar grunting, whooshing]
Edgar sits and folds his ears up, casting a house shadow on the wall.
Li Li says, LOOK, EDGAR MADE A HOUSE SHADOW.
[Slide whistle, tags jangling, grunting]
Bumpi slides under Edgar and makes a treehouse shadow with a tire swing hanging from a branch.
Bumpi says, BUMPADOO!
[Li Li clapping]
Li Li says, GREAT SHADOW, BUMPI! NOW I WILL TRY.
[Slide whistle]
Li Li drops dolls and blankets in front of the flashlight. She makes a doll run past the treehouse shadow.
Li Li sings, DOO-DEE-DOO-DEE-DOO-DEE-DOO.
Bumpi says, OOH! LI LI SHA-DOO, WOWEE!
[Li Li giggling, birds chirping, upbeat music plays, slide whistles, rumbling, scratching]
Shadows on the wall include a bird by a nest with three baby birds, and two people planting a flag on a mountain peak and falling when Edgar scratches his head with his back foot.
Li Li says, HMM.
[Bumpi vocalizing, beeping, Li Li and Bumpi shouting, laughing, Edgar grunting, tags jangling, slide whistle, Edgar barking, squirrel chittering, Edgar yipping, vacuum whirring, slide whistle]
Li Li positions her hand, and Bumpi wears a shadow monocle and strokes his shadow moustache. A monster shadow walks to cardboard city, and Bumpi and Li Li run. Edgar notices a squirrel shadow on the wall and chases it. He runs away when a shadow vacuum chases him. Bird and spider shadows appear. Bumpi startles when he notices the spider. Li Li makes the shadow behind him, and Edgar wags his tail.
Bumpi shouts, WHOA!
[Li Li and Bumpi laughing, yelling, footsteps thumping]
Li Li tickles Bumpi.
Li Li’s mom says, LI LI?
[Li Li giggling, slide whistles, door opening, fake snoring, Bumpi mumbling, door squeaking]
Li Li runs to her bed, and Bumpi curls up flat on the blanket. Li Li’s mom opens and shuts the door.
Li Li says, NIGHT-NIGHT, BUMPI.
Bumpi says, NI-NI, LI LI.
Li Li says, NIGHT-NIGHT, EDGAR.
[Edgar grumbling]
Edgar lies on his dog bed.
[Upbeat music plays]
Shaped as an exclamation mark, Bumpi says, BUMPADOO!
