[Episode title] “A Little Penguin Christmas”
[Light music]
DESCRIPTION: The Treebees walk through the icy tundra; they are all wearing red scarves—a sign with a penguin illustration points towards a village of igloos. The Treebees sing.
TIMBER: A little penguin learned of Christmas from a polar bear
DESCRIPTION: A little penguin stands next to an igloo. He opens a letter that has an illustration of a polar bear next to a Christmas tree.
TIMBER: For the South Pole was so far away, there was no Christmas there. The little penguin dreamed that one day, maybe that could change
DESCRIPTION: Thought bubbles appear above the little penguin’s head. He dreams of penguins surrounding a Christmas tree. Then, Timber watches the little penguin speak to two other penguins.
TIMBER: So he told the other penguins but they thought it sounded strange. They said:
DESCRIPTION: The two other penguins shrug. Millie and Zo stand with Timber and sing in harmony.
THE TREEBEES: Little penguin, we dunno about Christmas. Little penguin, just run along and play. Little penguin, we don’t know about Christmas. Little penguin, maybe another day.
DESCRIPTION: The rest of the penguins slide down an iceberg. The two other penguins walk away from the little penguin, who frowns.
ZO: The little penguin made a list of every one he knew
DESCRIPTION: Zo watches the little penguin inside his igloo. The little penguin writes on a piece of paper and imagines shopping for gifts.
ZO: He thought of gifts for each of them, and where to find them too yet Christmas isn’t Christmas without a Christmas tree
DESCRIPTION: The little penguin looks back at the card from the polar bear. The polar bear is standing beside a Christmas tree.
ZO: But there are no trees in Antarctica. So he asked where they might be. And they said:
DESCRIPTION: Zo looks around the tundra. The little penguin shows the polar bear’s card to two other penguins.
THE TREEBEES: Little penguin, we dunno about Christmas. Little penguin, just along just run along and play. Little penguin, we dunno about Christmas. Little penguin, maybe may be another day
DESCRIPTION: The two other penguins shrug and gesture to the other penguins playing with a ball. The little penguin collects and stacks rocks in a tall pile.
MILLIE: The little penguin found some rocks and stack them one by one. He stacked them all day long Until the Christmas tree was done
DESCRIPTION: The little penguin places colourfully wrapped presents under his rock tree. He frowns.
MILLIE: He put out all the presents but his heart sink as he stared. For, without some lights his tree of rocks. It just looked rather bare
DESCRIPTION: Suddenly, the sky changes colour. The sky shines brightly with streaks of pink, green, blue, and purple. The lights reflect off the rocks. The little penguin’s eyes light up, and he smiles.
THE TREEBEES: But that night, under the great Antarctic sky. The Aurora lights had never ever shone so bright, and the little penguin’s tree of rocks now sparkled like a star. And for the first time ever Christmas came this far.
DESCRIPTION: A crowd of penguins gathers around the rock Christmas tree.
THE TREEBEES: All the other penguins gathered around to see it too. They gazed upon that little scene. And suddenly they knew Christmas time is magic. And they felt that magic here
DESCRIPTION: Two penguins hand the little penguin presents. They all smile brightly.
THE TREEBEES: So they joined the little penguin, and they spread that Christmas cheer
DESCRIPTION: The penguins dance together, holding hands and forming a circle around the rock tree.
THE TREEBEES: And they said Little penguin, now we know about Christmas. Little penguin, what a wonderful thing to do. Little penguin, now we celebrate Christmas. Little penguin, it’s all because of you!
