DESCRIPTION: In the T.V.O. Kids studio, Gabrielle wears a pink T.V.O. Kids blouse. She has short brown hair. Gabrielle holds an electric white candle and has a silver nine-branched menorah and blue-and-white balloons on a table in front of her.
GABRIELLE: Hey, T.V.O. kids! Do you know the story of Hanukkah? It's a super-bright holiday, literally! A long time ago in ancient Israel, a group called the Maccabees or Hasmoneans stood up for what they believed in and won a huge battle. But when they went to light their temple's special lamp, they only had enough oil for one light. Uh-oh! But guess what? That tiny bit of oil lasted eight whole nights! Over time, different traditions got added, so now every year, families light candles on a special holder called a menorah.
[Whoosh]
DESCRIPTION: Video footage shows nine candles burning in a menorah, a person placing a latke on a strainer with others, and another person spinning a wooden dreidel.
GABRIELLE: And for eight nights, eat yummy foods like latkes - that's potato pancakes - and play games like spinning the dreidel. Hanukkah reminds me that even a little bit of hope can shine really bright. Happy Hanukkah to all who celebrate!
