Colourblocks: Many Mixes Make Brown
Description: In a swirl of bright colours, six Colourblocks appear. They all have smiling expressions and different-shaped bodies.
Singers: Colourblocks, Colourblocks. Red and yellow and blue Colourblocks, Colourblocks. Green and purple and orange, too.
Description: Red is a triangle, Orange is a teardrop, Yellow is a circle, Green is an arch, Blue is a square, and Purple is a trapezoid. The Colourblocks jump into the air.
Singers: In a magic world of colours, look what we can do. Colourblocks, Colourblocks, we're mixing it up for you, Colourblocks!
Description: The Colourblocks jump through the air, and whatever they touch turns their colour. Yellow paints the sun yellow, Blue paints the sky blue, and Red hops into a car and paints it red. Green touches the grass and paints it green, while Orange grabs a basketball and paints it orange. Purple pokes a flower and paints it purple.
[Title: Colourblocks]
Description: Green walks around a partially painted forest. The sky is blue, and the leaves of the trees are green, but the tree trunks and ground are blank. Just then, the rest of the Colourblocks run up to Green. They are joined by Black, who is a floating circle with big eyes and blobs for hands.
[Blue giggling]
Blue: So, what's the problem, Green?
Green: I've been colouring the trees in the forest. The leaves are easy.
Description: Green touches a tree leaf and paints it green.
Green: They're green. But I don't know what colour the rest of the tree should be.
Voice: It should be…
Description: The Colourblocks all turn to look at a new Colourblock. This Colourblock is Brown. Brown is teardrop-shaped and wears an explorer hat. A brown owl sits on Brown’s outstretched arm.
All: Huh?
Brown: ...brown! The rest of the tree should be brown.
Description: Brown touches the tree trunk and paints it brown. The owl flies up to sit on the tree.
Everyone: Oh, wow!
[Everyone gasping]
[Everyone giggling]
[Owl hooting]
Orange: I agree, owl. Whowho are you?
Description: Brown leans down and paints the ground brown.
Brown: I'm Brown. Down to earth, that's me. I'm an adventurer and a colour explorer. And now that I've found you, I've earned my colour explorer badge.
Description: Brown takes out a multicoloured, compass-shaped badge.
Everyone: Oh, wow. Wowzers!
Green: It's great to meet you. And you're right about the tree. Brown and green go well together.
Brown: Yes. I know all about the woods. Ooh! I'll give you a tour. This way.
[Everyone giggling]
Everyone: Fantastic! Great.
Description: Brown walks the Colourblocks over to a blank tree branch. With a touch, they paint it brown.
Brown: Here's a big brown branch. And that's a big brown bear.
Description: Brown continues walking and passes a brown bear. Everyone jogs past the bear, while Yellow and Purple stop hesitantly in front of the bear.
[Brown bear growling]
[Everyone giggling]
Purple: Ooh.
Description: Brown continues walking through the woods and jumps down a hill. Red, Blue, Green, Orange, and Black follow them.
Brown: This way.
[Grunting]
Blue: Haha!
[Everyone giggling]
Colourblocks: Wow! Whee! Woo!
Description: Yellow and Purple come to the top of the hill and look around.
Yellow: Which way did they go?
Description: Purple points down the hill.
Purple: Hoohoo.
Description: Red, Orange, Green, Blue, and Black slide down the hill, weaving in between bushes.
[Both laughing]
Red: Whee!
[Everyone laughing]
Orange: Heyhey.
Blue: Oh my.
Orange: Hoohoohoo! Ohhoho. Oh.
Description: Orange and Black slide into the woods, away from the other Colourblocks. They look around.
Orange: Uh, we seem to have lost the others. Come on, Black. Let's find them.
Description: Orange begins to walk away, and Black floats behind them. They approach an uncoloured bridge.
Orange: Ah. It's a wooden bridge. Brown must've missed it.
Description: Orange and Black touch the bridge at the same time. Their colours mix and paint the bridge handle brown.
Orange: Whoa. Look! We mixed something. Dark orange, which looks like brown. Ah! Brown is dark orange.
Description: Orange spins in the air and smiles brightly. Orange and Black touch the bridge together again and paint the rest of it brown.
[Black giggling]
Orange: Orange and black mix to make brown.
Description: In a different spot in the woods, Green slides down a hill and looks out around the forest.
Green: Ah. Hmm. The tree trunks are brown, so they must have come this way.
Description: Just then, Red slides quickly down the hill and bumps into Green. Green and Red tumble into a pile of uncoloured mud.
[Shouting, giggling]
Description: Red and Green’s colours mix in the mud and paint it brown.
[Gasping]
Red: Ooh, mud! I love mud.
Description: Red and Green are covered in splotches of brown mud. They smile brightly at one another.
Green: And we coloured it. We mixed a dark colour.
Red: It looks like the tree trunks. It's sort of brown.
[Gasping]
Description: Red and Green run up to a different patch of unpainted mud.
Green: Shall we try again?
Red: Yeah.
Green: Green and...
Red: ...red…
Description: Green and Red touch the uncoloured mud patch at the same time and paint it brown.
Both: ...mix to make brown.
Red: Brown mud!
Description: Red splashes around in the mud.
[Laughing]
Description: In a different part of the forest, Brown approaches a brown wooden cabin. It is made out of logs and sits in some uncoloured trees. Brown’s owl flies behind them.
Brown: Ah.
[Owl hooting]
Brown: And this is my brown wooden cabin.
Description: Brown turns around, but there are no other Colourblocks around.
Brown: Oh. Where is everyone?
Description: Just then, Orange and Black come out of the woods, Red and Green follow them.
[Orange giggling]
Orange: We're here.
Green: Hi.
Orange: Oh, sorry we're late. We discovered that orange and black mix to make brown.
Description: Orange and Black approach an uncoloured tree trunk. They touch it together and paint it brown.
Brown: Ooh.
Orange: Ohhoho!
Description: Red and Green touch an uncoloured barrel together and paint it brown.
Red: We found that red and...
Green: ...green...
Red/ Green: ...mix to make brown.
Brown: Wow! It's a different brown from me. Fascinating.
Description: Just then, Purple and Yellow join the rest of the Colourblocks.
Purple: Ooh. You can't imagine what we've just discovered.
Description: Purple and Yellow walk up to an uncoloured wooden park bench.
Yellow: Yellow and...
Purple: ...purple…
Purple/ Yellow: ...mix to make…
Description: Purple and Yellow touch the bench and paint it brown.
Brown: ...another brown!
Description: Blue walks out of the woods and joins the group.
Blue: There you all are. What have I missed?
Green: We've discovered lots of ways we can mix to make brown.
Blue: Cool! Ha. I want to try.
Description: Blue hops over to an uncoloured wooden rocking chair sitting on the cabin porch.
Blue: But what mixes with blue to make brown?
Yellow: Oh, I'll try.
[Green giggling]
Green: That's how you make green.
Red: Ooh. How about me, too?
Description: Blue, Red, and Yellow gather around the rocking chair.
Blue: What? All three of us?
Yellow: At the same time?
Red: Yeah.
Brown: Hmm. That could work.
Description: One by one, Blue, Yellow, and Red put their hands in.
Blue: One...
Yellow: ...two...
Red: ...three.
Blue: Blue...
Yellow: ...yellow...
Red: ...red!
Description: Blue, Yellow, and Red touch the wooden rocking chair at the same time and paint it brown.
Brown: Ooh. New friends, and lots of ways to mix brown! What a wonderful day for a colour explorer. Now, you're all colour explorers, too.
Description: Brown takes out seven multicoloured, compass-shaped badges for the rest of the Colourblocks.
Brown: Everyone gets a colour explorer badge!
[Everyone cheering]
