Colourblocks: The Printing Crew

Description: In a swirl of bright colours, six Colourblocks appear. They all have smiling expressions and different-shaped bodies.

Singers: Colourblocks, Colourblocks. Red and yellow and blue. Colourblocks, Colourblocks. Green and purple and orange, too.

Description: Red is a triangle, Orange is a teardrop, Yellow is a circle, Green is an arch, Blue is a square, and Purple is a trapezoid. The Colourblocks jump into the air.

Singers: In a magic world of colours, look what we can do. Colourblocks, Colourblocks. We're mixing it up for you, Colourblocks!

Description: The Colourblocks jump through the air, and whatever they touch turns their colour. Yellow paints the sun yellow, Blue paints the sky blue, and Red hops into a car and paints it red. Green touches the grass and paints it green, while Orange grabs a basketball and paints it orange. Purple pokes a flower and paints it purple.

[Title: Colourblocks]

Description: Yellow, Red, Blue, and Green all hold hands and walk through a colourful grassy field. Red, Blue, and Green have their eyes closed as Yellow leads them.

[Everyone giggling]

Yellow: Follow me. We're nearly there.

Description: Red peeks, one eye open.

Red: Ooh!

Yellow: No peeking, Red. You'll ruin the surprise.

[Giggling]

Description: Yellow stops suddenly, and the rest of the Colourblocks bump into them.

Red: Ooh.

Blue: Huh?

Yellow: We're here. Open your eyes.

Description: The Colourblocks open their eyes to see a large building standing in the grassy field. The building is mostly white with yellow, magenta, and cyan accents. Some black-and-white checkered flags hang outside the building.

Yellow: Tada!

All: Wow!

Green: What is this place, Yellow?

Yellow: Just wait until you see inside.

Description: Yellow runs off towards the building. Red, Green, and Blue follow.

[Everyone giggling]

Colourblocks: Ooh, yay!

Description: Inside the building, the Colourblocks stand against a railing. The inside of the building is all white with some black accents.

Yellow: Welcome to the Printing Zone.

All: The Printing Zone?

[Upbeat music]

Description: Just then, two carts zoom past them. One is bright blue, and the other is bright pink. The drivers are two Colourblocks, Cyan and Magenta, who wear race goggles. Cyan is cube-shaped, and Magenta is pyramid-shaped. The Colourblocks all smile at each other.

Yellow: That's right. I'd like you to meet my friends, Cyan and Magenta.

Description: Yellow puts on a race helmet.

Red, Green, & Blue: New colours!

Blue: And they're so bright.

Cyan: Hi. I'm Cyan.

Description: Cyan gets out of their cart and stands with the other Colourblocks.

Cyan: I'm pretty chilled, apart from on the racetrack because I live to race.

Description: Cyan stands beside Blue; they are both cube-shaped.

Green: Cyan, you look a bit like Blue.

[Giggling]

Cyan: I'm like Blue, but I'm different. I'm Cyan.

Blue: Cool.

Description: Just then, Magenta stumbles out of their cart and stands among the Colourblocks.

Magenta: Hiya. I'm Magenta. Ooh! And I'm easy to spot. I'm always thrilled to fix things up, especially me racing cartridge.

Description: Magenta takes out a wrench. Red smiles brightly and stands beside Magenta; both are pyramid-shaped.

Red: Oh, oh! You look a bit like me, Magenta. Exciting!

Magenta: Well, I suppose I'm a bit reddish, but I'm a different colour. I'm Magenta. You won't forget me in a hurry.

Green: Hang on a minute, Yellow. How did you know about the Printing Zone?

Red: Yes. How come you know and we don't?

Yellow: Oh, I've been part of the printing crew for ages. Speeding around in my cartridge makes me super happy.

Red, Green, & Blue: Printing crew? Cartridge?

Yellow: Let's show them how it's done, printing crew.

Description: Yellow, Magenta, and Cyan hop into their respective carts and rev their engines.

Cyan: Cyan.

Magenta: Magenta.

Yellow: Yellow.

Cyan, Magenta, & Yellow: The printing crew!

Cyan: Ready to print?

Magenta: Let's do this.

Description: The Printing Crew pull levers on their carts, and colour spills out the back of their carts. They leave a line of colour as they drive across the white floor. Bright lines of Yellow, Magenta, and Cyan appear.

[Red gasping]

Description: Blue hands spectator binoculars to Red and Green. They smile brightly and watch the Printing Crew.

Red: Oh.

Green: Haha.

Magenta & Cyan: Woohoo!

Description: Using the colours from their carts, Magenta and Yellow cross paths to create red.

Red: Ooh! They can make red…

Description: Yellow and Cyan cross paths to make green.

Green: ...green…

Description: Cyan and Magenta cross paths to make blue.

Blue: ...and blue.

Colourblocks: Whoa!

Description: Just then, Yellow slows down and looks at the back of their cart. The ink is pale yellow and flows out slowly.

Yellow: Oh, no. I'm running out of yellow.

Blue: We need more colour.

Red: We can help. Yeah.

Description: Red, Green, and Blue run over to a wall and remove a large, cylindrical ink cartridge.

[Giggling]

Magenta: Come on, Yellow.

Description: Red, Blue, and Green surround Yellow’s cart. Blue removes the old cartridge, and Green holds up the new one.

Red, Blue, & Green: Pit crew to the rescue.

Description: Yellow touches the new cartridge, and it turns yellow. Green places it in Yellow’s cart.

Yellow: Yellow.

Yellow: Thanks, pit crew.

Green: Happy racing, Yellow.

Yellow: Woo!

Description: In a montage, Yellow, Magenta, and Cyan race around the room, leaving trails of colour behind. Where their trails overlap, they create blue, red, and green.

Colourblocks: Woohoo! Woohoohoo! Yay.

Description: Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow stop in front of Blue, Red, and Green. Red hops up and down excitedly.

Red: Who won? Who won?

Cyan: We weren't racing to win.

Magenta: We were racing to create something thrilling...

Yellow: ...together.

Description: Blue, Green, and Red look at each other, confused.

Yellow: Come on, printing crew. Let's show them what we mean.

Description: Yellow, Cyan, and Magenta run to a large button on the floor.

Cyan: Ready?

Yellow & Magenta: Ready.

All: One, two, three. Time for you to see!

Description: Yellow, Cyan, and Magenta jump on the button. The button turns their colours, and the whole building shakes.

Green: Whoa. What's happening?

Magenta: Come outside and have a look.

Description: The Colourblocks all run outside and stand in front of the white building. A large photo is printed from a slot in the wall. The photo shows Red, Green, Blue, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow standing together.

Red: Wow! It's us.

Green: How did you do that?

Cyan: When we mix together...

Magenta: ...we can make lots of colours.

Yellow: In fact, cyan, magenta, and yellow can mix any colour you like. The possibilities are endless!

Cyan: Now, we have our pit crew to refill our ink. Who's up for another race?

Others: Me!

[Giggling]

Description: The Colourblocks smile brightly, cheer, and run back into the building.

Colourblocks: Woohoo! Yay. Whee! Haha.
