[Song] Six, seven, eight, nine, ten, number blocks. One and another one is two, and another one is…

[Chiming]

DESCRIPTION: Two Ones combine and make Two. Another One jumps on the stack and makes Three.

THREE SINGS: Me.

[Song] That’s three. Five, four, three, two, one, time for some number fun. You can count on us, we're the NumberBlocks.

[Chiming]

[Title] NumberBlocks.

[Bright music plays]

DESCRIPTION: A two-storey building has a domino banner over the door and two game board grids on each side of the door. Inside, Six wears a blue top hat with a red ribbon.

SIX: My board game club. I just can't wait. I hope my special guest's not late.

[Doorknob rattles]

DESCRIPTION: A silhouette appears through the frosted glass windows.

[Door opens, cheerful music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Six opens the double doors and leads a NumberBlock into the room.

SIX: Hoo-hoo! Oh, are you early? I approve. Come in and show us your first move.

DESCRIPTION: Fifty-Six stands ten blue blocks high and five blocks wide. He has six purple blocks on his head and wears a pink superhero mask with four rainbow-striped lines at each end.

FIFTY-SIX: Show you my moves? Of course.

[Dramatic music plays]

FIFTY-SIX: Lucky for you, this superhero was passing. What's the problem?

[The music stops]

SIX: A superhero? How bizarre. Are you not who I think you are?

[Door opens, upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Fifty-Four enters, wearing a bowtie. He is nine blocks wide and six blocks tall. Most of Fifty-Four’s blocks are blue with four green blocks in a line beneath his bowtie.

FIFTY-FOUR: Hello. Sorry I'm late. I cannot wait to be your guest of honour and play loads of lovely board games.

DESCRIPTION: Fifty-Four looks at a nine-block grid on the wall with two red squares and one blue square.

FIFTY-FOUR: Ooh! Dots and boxes. My favourite. I love games on grids.

[Fifty-Four chuckles, the music stops]

SIX: You are 54. I'm in a mix. So, you're my guest. Not 56.

[Fifty-Four chuckles]

FIFTY-FOUR: Don't worry. Happens all the time, doesn't it, 56?

FIFTY-SIX: Very true, 54.

FIFTY-SIX: Lots of people mix us up at first sight. After all, we're both...

[Whirring, click, dramatic music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Fifty-Four and Fifty-Six change into rectangles.

FIFTY-FOUR AND FIFTY-SIX: Great big rectangles!

[Whirring, click, light music notes play, slide whistle]

DESCRIPTION: Fifty-Four and Fifty-Six both change their shape, so they are both ten blocks tall, with their extra blocks stacked on their left side. Their blocks light up as they speak.

FIFTY-FOUR: Except I have five blue tens and four green ones...

FIFTY-SIX: While I've got five blue tens and six ones, two more than you.

[Heroic music plays]

FIFTY-SIX: And of course, I have a rainbow superhero mask.

[Upbeat music plays, bowtie chimes]

DESCRIPTION: Fifty-Four’s bowtie has grey and white grids on one side, an X in the middle, and six pips like dice on the other side.

FIFTY-FOUR: Whereas I have this rather snazzy bowtie. Look. Grids and dice.

[Fifty-Four chuckles, the music stops]

SIX: That bowtie is a handy clue, and now I know just who is who. 54?

FIFTY-FOUR: That's me. 54. And I've got some great games for board game club. I can't wait to show you.

FIFTY-SIX: Ooh. Then you'll need an audience.

FIFTY-SIX: I'm 56, and I'm...

[Slide whistle, zapping music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Fifty-Six breaks into eight Sevens.

SEVENS: Eight Sevens. Lucky we were here.

[Upbeat music plays, rustling]

SEVEN: Ha.

DESCRIPTION: The eight Sevens sit in a row in front of a stage.

SECOND SEVEN: Ooh. Lovely.

[Fifty-Four chuckles]

DESCRIPTION: Fifty-Four stands on the stage. At the side, Six stands near a tall tower of boxes.

FIFTY-FOUR: Welcome, everybody. Let me show you some of my moves. Board game moves, that is. I'm 54, and I'm...

DESCRIPTION: Fifty-Four divides into nine Sixes, stacked in three rows of three.

SIXES: Nine Sixes in a grid.

[Slide whistle]

DESCRIPTION: The nine Sixes combine into Fifty-Four

SEVENS: Ooh! Nice.

FIFTY-FOUR: Which means I'm also...

DESCRIPTION: Fifty-Four divides into six Nines, stacked in two rows of three.

NINES: Six Nines, for grid games galore.

[Slide whistle]

DESCRIPTION: A Nine in the bottom row turns and shows a game of X’s and O’s, also called noughts and crosses, on his back. The Nine standing on the first Nine’s head looks down.

NINE, IN THE TOP ROW: Like noughts and crosses...

[Slide whistle, the music stops]

DESCRIPTION: The six Nines turn and reveal grid games on their backs, including dots and boxes, noughts and crosses, a number grid, and one with an arrow in six of the nine boxes.

NINES: And many more.

[Chiming]

DESCRIPTION: A red, orange, and yellow line appears along the bottom and the side of a Nine, showing the three lines on each side.

SIX: These games are played on grids. I see. And every grid is three by three.

[Chiming]

DESCRIPTION: Six divides into two Threes; one wears a top hat with an O, or nought, on the front, and the other wears a top hat with an X, or cross.

[Lively music plays]

THREES: Ha! It's game time.

THREE WITH NOUGHT HAT: I'll be noughts.

THREE WITH CROSS HAT: I'll be crosses.

[Whoosh]

DESCRIPTION: A cross appears in the upper left corner of the grid.

THREE WITH CROSS HAT: Cross.

DESCRIPTION: A nought appears in the upper right corner of the grid.

THREE WITH NOUGHT HAT: Nought.

DESCRIPTION: A cross appears in the centre of the grid.

THREE WITH CROSS HAT: Crosses will win.

DESCRIPTION: A nought appears in the lower right corner of the grid.

THREE WITH NOUGHT HAT: I think not.

DESCRIPTION: A cross appears in the middle square on the left side.

THREE WITH CROSS HAT: So you say.

DESCRIPTION: A nought appears in the middle square on the right side, creating a vertical line of noughts.

THREE WITH NOUGHT HAT: Yes, I do. A line of three.

[Three with nought hat cheers, other Three exclaims, slide whistle, creaking, suspenseful music plays, thud]

DESCRIPTION: The Three with the nought hat takes her hat off and throws it. It lands on the stack of games, which wobbles.

THREE WITH THE CROSS HAT: No, no, no! The tower of games.

THREE: It's all wobbly.

[Squeaks]

DESCRIPTION: The two Threes combine into Six, and the six Nines combine into Fifty-Four. The tower of games sways.

FIFTY-FOUR: Ooh! We're really in a fix now. If that tower collapses, all the different board game pieces will get mottled up.

SEVENS: Then it's lucky we were here. Eight Sevens make...

[Slide whistle]

DESCRIPTION: The eight Sevens combine into Fifty-Six.

[The music stops]

FIFTY-SIX: 56.

FIFTY-SIX: Which means I'm also...

[Click, dramatic music plays, slide whistle]

DESCRIPTION: Fifty-Six divides into seven vertical Eights, which then change into two-by-four rectangles. Each eight is a different colour.

EIGHTS: Seven Eights. The Rainbow Eights.

[Zapping]

DESCRIPTION: As each Eight says their colour, their eyes shoot a beam of light of the same colour at the wobbly tower of games.

RED EIGHT: Red.

ORANGE EIGHT: Orange.

YELLOW EIGHT: Yellow.

GREEN EIGHT: Green.

BLUE EIGHT: Blue.

INDIGO EIGHT: Indigo.

VIOLET EIGHT: Violet.

[Epic music plays, stack rustles]

DESCRIPTION: The seven Eights straighten the tower with their beams of light.

FIFTY-FOUR AND SIX: Wow.

EIGHTS: Rainbow Eights. The colourful crusaders.

[The music stops, slide whistle, click]

DESCRIPTION: The seven eights combine into 56.

SIX CHEERS: Woo-hoo! Ha-ha! Let's all cheer "hip-hip-hooray."

DESCRIPTION: Six gestures at Fifty-Four.

SIX: Now, 56 has saved the day.

[Serious music notes play]

FIFTY-FOUR AND FIFTY-SIX: Uh—

SIX: Oh, silly me. Oh, what a pain. I've gone and mixed you up again.

[Fifty-Four chuckles]

FIFTY-FOUR: Like we said, it happens all the time. Maybe this will help.

[Upbeat music plays, whirring]

DESCRIPTION: Fifty-Four divides into six smiling Nines. They turn and show the grid games on their backs.

FIFTY-FOUR: For grid games galore, call 54.

[Slide whistle, pop]

DESCRIPTION: The six Nines combine into Fifty-Four. Ha-ha-hey!

[Upbeat music plays, popping]

DESCRIPTION: Fifty-Six divides into seven Eights. Call 56.

FIFTY-SIX: In a colourful fix?

EIGHTS: Ha-ha.

[Slide whistle]

DESCRIPTION: The seven Eights combine into Fifty-Six

SIX: I can tell who's who. Success! Now, who would like a game of chess?

[Light music notes play, whoosh, thump]

DESCRIPTION: Six jumps to the tower of games and reaches for a box near the bottom. She stops and glances towards the top of the tower.

SIX: Ooh.

[Rustling]

DESCRIPTION: Six takes the top box off a small stack of games nearby.

SIX: Uh, or maybe tiddlywinks?

[Cheerful music plays, everyone laughs]

[Bouncy theme music plays]
