(music plays)

An animation shows the Canadian Parliament, a hockey player, the CN tower and an R.C.M.P officer.

A picture shows a map of Canada along with the Canadian flag and coat of arms, an R.C.M.P officer, a fish and a moose.

(music plays)

Voices say MY CANADA.

A kid giggles and says SWEET.

In a classroom, the teacher says TODAY CLASS WE'RE GOING TO
LEARN ABOUT CANADA'S GREAT
NORTH.

(echoes)

The teacher says OH I LOVE IT WHEN IT DOES THAT.
LOOK AT THIS CHALKBOARD OVER
HERE, YOU'LL SEE A MAP OF
CANADA.
THAT AREA AT THE TOP, UH WAY UP
THERE AT THE TOP OF THE BOARD,
THAT'S CANADA'S NORTH.
UH MOST CANADIANS WHO LIVE IN
THE SOUTH OF OUR COUNTRY, THEY
KNOW VERY LITTLE ABOUT THE NORTH
UH LIKE UH ME FOR EXAMPLE HA.
UGH I HAVE NO IDEA.
UH BUT YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS
THAT WE'RE BOTH GOING TO LEARN
SOMETHING TODAY CLASS.
WHAT IS CANADA'S NORTH?

Now the show turns to real life.

A girl in a flannel shirt says IT'S COLD I THINK.

A girl with long brown hair in a braid says IT'S VERY COLD.

A brown haired girl in a green T-shirt says AND WHERE I CAN'T LIVE - I
CAN'T LIVE IN THE COLD.

Back to animation, the teacher says YES YES I'M SURE IT WOULD BE
COLD BUT I HAVE A FEELING
THERE'S MORE TO THE NORTH THAN
JUST THE WEATHER.
LET'S WATCH THIS VIDEO AND FIND
OUT.

(music plays)

Two animated characters play instruments and sing song that says THE NORTH OF CANADA'S VERY BIG
IN FACT DID YOU KNOW THAT IT
STRETCHES UP TOWARDS THE NORTH
POLE YES THE NORTH POLE'S

An animation shows the extension of the North on the map.

The song continues RIGHT ON TOP OF THE EARTH
WHICH IS CALLED THE ARCTIC YOU
HEARD IT HERE FIRST NOW THE
FIRST PEOPLE THAT WERE HERE
SINCE LONG AGO ARE CALLED THE
INUIT SO NOW YOU KNOW ABOUT
THE NORTH I COULD GO ON AND ON
NORTHWEST TERRITORIES NUNAVUT
AND YUKON
THE NORTH OF CANADA CAN BE
COLD AND THINGS CAN FREEZE
BECAUSE WINTERS CAN REACH
MINUS 50 DEGREES IN THE SUMMER
THERE'S LOTS OF SUNSHINE BUT
IN THE WINTER IT'S DARK MOST
OF THE TIME AND THERE'S A
THING CALLED THE TREELINE AND
EVERYWHERE BELOW HAS TREES BUT
ABOVE TREES JUST CAN'T GROW OH
THE NORTH I COULD GO ON AND ON
NORTHWEST TERRITORIES NUNAVUT
AND YUKON
YEAH THE NORTH I COULD GO ON
ON AND ON NORTHWEST
TERRITORIES NUNAVUT AND
YUKON
[Cheering]

The teacher says SO YOU SEE CLASS THERE'S JUST
SO MUCH MORE TO CANADA'S NORTH
THAN JUST THE WEATHER.
[Bell ringing]

The teacher says LOOKS LIKE CLASS IS OVER.
TONIGHT'S HOMEWORK IS TO BUILD A
SNOWMAN AND IF YOU DON'T HAVE
ANY SNOW WELL UH THEN UH YOU
COULD BUILD A DIRTMAN.
[Laughter]
