(soft music plays)

In off, Laura says WELCOME TO TVOKIDS
POWER HOUR OF LEARNING.
TODAY'S PRIMARY LESSON:
LET'S MAKE MAGIC!

A caption reads "Primary I-3. Teacher Joel." Joel is in his late twenties, with a short beard and dark brown hair. He wears a gray shirt and earphones.

Sitting in a living room with plants behind him, Joel says HI, TVOKIDS!
AND WELCOME BACK
TO ANOTHER EPISODE
OF
POWER HOUR OF LEARNING.
MY NAME IS TEACHER JOEL
AND I'M SO EXCITED TO BE HERE
WITH YOU AGAIN FOR ANOTHER
HOUR OF LEARNING
AND FUN RIGHT FROM
YOUR VERY OWN HOME.
JUST LIKE YOU,
I'M AT HOME RIGHT NOW.
TEACHING FROM HOME,
LEARNING FROM HOME.
BUT FOR THE NEXT HOUR,
WE ARE GOING TO BE TOGETHER,
CHECKING OUT SOME
AMAZING TVOKIDS SHOWS.
AND I'M GOING TO BE
POPPING UP IN BETWEEN
TO TEACH YOU SOME LESSONS THAT
YOU CAN DO RIGHT AT HOME
TO CONNECT TO THE LEARNING
THAT YOU SAW IN THOSE EPISODES.
AND I'LL BE LEAVING
YOU WITH SOME EXTENSIONS
FOR EVEN MORE LEARNING.
IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE IT ON
AS THE DAY OR THE WEEK GOES ON.
NOW, JUST LIKE WE DO
WHEN WE'RE IN SCHOOL,
WE WANT TO MAKE SURE
THAT WE'RE SET UP FOR SUCCESS.
SO, WHAT I ALWAYS SAY TO MY
STUDENTS IS THAT OUR BEST
MOST CAREFUL LEARNING HAPPENS
WHEN WE ARE LOOKING
AND LISTENING.
SO, MAKE SURE YOU CAN SEE YOUR
SCREEN, YOU CAN HEAR MY VOICE,
AND YOU'RE SITTING IN
A GREAT COMFORTABLE SPOT
THAT WORKS FOR YOU,
AND YOU'RE NOT GOING
TO GET TOO DISTRACTED BY
ANYTHING AROUND YOU.
NOW I WILL TELL YOU THAT FOR
TODAY'S LEARNING, YOU WILL NEED
SOMETHING TO WRITE WITH,
AND SOMETHING TO WRITE ON.
SO, I'LL GIVE YOU A
FEW SECONDS TO GRAB SOME PAPER,
MAYBE YOUR FAVOURITE NOTEBOOK,
OR EVEN A WHITEBOARD
IF YOU HAVE THAT AT HOME.
YOU MIGHT WANT TO
GET A PENCIL, MARKER,
CRAYON- IT'S UP TO YOU.
BUT YOU'RE GOING TO
BE FOLLOWING ALONG AT HOME
WITH THOSE MATERIALS.
ONCE YOU'RE READY,
WE'RE GOING TO GET STARTED.
I THINK I'VE TOLD YOU BEFORE
THAT WHEN I'M NOT TEACHING HERE
ON TVOKIDS, I'M A KINDERGARTEN
TEACHER IN TORONTO.
AND I REALLY, REALLY,
REALLY LOVE MY JOB.
IN FACT, FOR MOST OF
THE TIME WHEN I WAS GROWING UP,
I KNEW I WANTED
TO BE A TEACHER.
BUT IT WASN'T ALWAYS THE CASE.
WHEN I WAS A KID,
THERE WAS PART OF MY LIFE
WHEN I WANTED TO
GROW UP AND BE A MAGICIAN!
NOW, I MAY NOT HAVE
GROWN UP TO BE A MAGICIAN,
BUT I STILL REALLY LOVE MAGIC,
I HAVE A FUNNY FEELING
YOU PROBABLY REALLY LOVE MAGIC.
AND I WANTED TO GET
INSPIRED AND DO SOME
MAGICAL LEARNING TODAY.
WE'LL BE LEARNING
A FEW EASY MAGIC TRICKS
YOU CAN TRY AT HOME.
WE'LL BE
EXPLORING SOME MATH MAGIC,
AND EVEN SOME WORD MAGIC.
LATER IN THIS EPISODE,
WE'RE GOING TO MEET
A VERY FAMOUS MAGICIAN WHO'S
GOING TO TEACH US
AN IMPORTANT LESSON ABOUT
LISTENING TO OUR FEELINGS.
LOTS OF LEARNING AND FUN TODAY,
BUT BEFORE WE GET STARTED
WITH THAT, HOW COULD WE DO
AN EPISODE ABOUT MAGIC,
AND NOT
TRY A MAGIC TRICK TOGETHER.
SO, HERE'S AN EASY ONE
YOU CAN TRY AT HOME.

He shows a yellow piece of paper and continues ALL YOU'RE GOING TO NEED
FOR THIS TRICK
IS A PIECE OF PAPER
IN THE SHAPE OF A RECTANGLE.
AND NOT ONE,
BUT TWO PAPERCLIPS.
ALRIGHT.
AND FOLD IT
INTO THREE SECTIONS.
I'M GOING TO TURN MY PAPER
AROUND AND YOU'LL SEE THAT
THE PAPERCLIPS
HAVE BEEN PUT ON SEPARATELY
BUT WHEN I PULL BOTH ENDS
OF THIS PAPER,
THE PAPERCLIPS ARE CONNECTED!
IS IT MAGIC?
THEY SAY A MAGICIAN
NEVER TELLS THEIR SECRETS.
BUT I'LL QUICKLY LET YOU KNOW,
THAT WHEN YOU FOLD THIS PAPER,
YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE
YOU PUT YOUR FIRST PAPERCLIP
ON THESE TWO SECTIONS,
AND YOUR SECOND PAPERCLIP
ON THESE BACK TWO SECTIONS.
IF YOU DO IT LIKE THAT,
WHEN YOU GIVE IT A PULL,
JUST LIKE THAT, YOUR PAPERCLIPS
ARE GOING TO BE CONNECTED.
NOW IF YOU WANT TO KEEP
PRACTICING THIS TRICK,
YOU CAN REWIND THIS
EPISODE LATER ON IN THE DAY,
BUT WE'RE MOVING ALONG
TO EVEN MORE LEARNING AND FUN.
WE'RE GONNA CHECK OUT THIS
EPISODE OF MATH EXPLOSIONS!
THAT'S GONNA SHOW US
A MATH MAGIC TRICK.
AND I'LL SEE YOU AFTER.

(music plays)

An animated clip shows a big orange X on a blue background. It explodes and letters and numbers come out of it in all directions and float around.

Mathemagician Eric appears on screen. He's in his mid-twenties. He has short dark brown hair and a beard. He wears a red T-shirt with the show's logo, blue jeans and red Tennis shoes. He plays with Poker cards.

The screen turns red and the logo of the show appears next. It reads "MathXplosion." Meanwhile, cones, cubes and dices float around it.

Kids' voices sing a song with lyrics that go
WHAT A HIT
IT'S NOT A TRICK
IT'S MATHXPLOSION
JUST FOR YOU
COOL AND NEW
MATHXPLOSION!

The episode starts with Eric standing in a workroom, next to a large table. He holds cards in his hands. Behind him, a large blackboard has drawings of the number 9.

Eric says DID YOU KNOW THAT OF ALL
THE NUMBERS OUT THERE,
MY FAVOURITE ONE IS -
UHHH... 9.

He first shows a blank card. He turns it around and it becomes a 9 Poker card.

Next, he says BECAUSE IT'S POSSIBLY THE
MOST MAGICAL NUMBER OF ALL.
THERE'S AN AMAZING TRICK
I WANT TO TEACH YOU
WHERE NO MATTER
WHAT YOU DO,
9 WILL ALWAYS BE
YOUR ANSWER.

Moving shapes float in the screen on a blue background. Next, Eric clears the blackboard.

He says TO DO THIS TRICK, YOU'RE
GOING TO NEED A BUDDY.

He snaps his fingers and a purple smoke cloud brings to the workroom a new version of himself. This one has a blue T-shirt, instead.

Eric in blue waves.

Eric says HEY, HOW ARE YA?
OKAY, I WANT YOU TO THINK
OF YOUR FAVOURITE NUMBER
BETWEEN 1 AND 9.
APPRENTICES, THINK OF YOUR
FAVOURITE NUMBER AS WELL.

It looks like Eric in blue is ready.

Eric says OKAY.
WRITE IT DOWN WHILE I
PUT ON THIS BLINDFOLD
SO I CAN'T SEE
WHAT YOU'RE DOING.

Eric puts on a blindfold while Eric in blue writes down number 2.

Next, Eric says NOW MULTIPLY YOUR
SECRET NUMBER BY 3.

The number blinks. Eric in blue writes "2 times 3 equals 6."

Eric says GOT IT?
GREAT!
NOW, ADD 3 TO
YOUR NEW TOTAL.

Eric in blue writes "6 plus 3 equals 9."

Eric says NOW, TAKE THAT NUMBER AND
MULTIPLY BY 3 ONCE AGAIN.

Eric in blue writes "9 times 3 equals 27."

Eric continues
THIS SHOULD GIVE YOU
A TWO-DIGIT NUMBER.

Eric in blue seems shocked. He looks like he can't believe it.

Eric says GOT IT?
PERFECT.
NOW, FOR THE MOST
IMPORTANT PART.
I'D LIKE YOU TO ADD THOSE
TWO DIGITS TOGETHER.
AND REMEMBER,
I CAN'T SEE.

Eric in blue writes "2 plus 7 equals 9."

Eric says ARE YOU DONE?
GREAT.
YOUR ANSWER ISN'T 7.
IT ISN'T 8.
BECAUSE SEVEN
ATE NINE.

Eric in blue smiles.

Eric says I'M SAYING YOUR
ANSWER IS 9.

Eric in blue looks at the number and looks at Eric with his mouth open. He's in shock.

Eric says AM I RIGHT?
YES!

Eric takes the blindfold off and waves goodbye at Eric in blue. A new purple smoke cloud makes him disappear.

Eric says BYE BYE!
THE THING THAT'S GREAT
ABOUT THIS TRICK
IS IT'S JUST SIMPLE
CALCULATIONS.
THIS TRICK
ALWAYS WORKS.
AND IF IT DOESN'T,
YOUR AUDIENCE
MIGHT NEED TO RECHECK
THEIR CALCULATIONS.
YOU JUST FOLLOW THIS.

All numbers 3 in the board and number 9 in the end blink.

Eric continues AND THAT'S NOT
THE ONLY THING
THAT'S COOL ABOUT
THE NUMBER 9.
WATCH THIS.

Eric draws a circle and colours it inside. He taps on it and a new clip play. Multiple hands appear on screen.

Eric says YOUR BODY HAS A GREAT
WAY TO HELP YOU OUT
WITH MULTIPLYING
DIGITS UP TO 10
WITH THE NUMBER 9.

All fingers in the hands move while number 9 in yellow appears in the middle.

Eric continues STARTING FROM THE LEFT
SIDE, LOWER THE FINGER
THAT YOU WERE
MULTIPLYING BY 9.
SAY IT'S 7.

A new clip shows a pair of hands moving one finger at a time as a number pops out while moved. When it gets to 7, the finger in lowered and an arrow points at it.

Eric continues LOWER THAT FINGER.
AND THE ANSWER IS ON THE
REMAINING FINGERS THAT ARE UP;
YOU GOT IT, 63.
THE NUMBERS ON
THE LEFT SIDE
OF THE 7TH FINGER
ARE THE 10's.

Now the hand moves the fingers while numbers 10, 20,30, 40, 50 and 60 appear correspondingly.

Eric continues AND THIS SIDE OF THE
7TH FINGER ARE THE ONES.

The fingers to left of the lowered finger count numbers 1, 2 and 3. The hands split up and number 63 appears on screen.

Eric continues THAT'S HOW YOU GET 63.
WHAT A MAGICAL WAY
TO MULTIPLY BY 9.

Both hands give a thumbs up. Eric appears back in the workroom.

He says SO THERE YOU HAVE IT.
I SHARED ANOTHER
AMAZING SECRET,
HOW TO READ MINDS WITH
SIMPLE CALCULATIONS.
NOW ALL YOU APPRENTICES
CAN TRY IT OUT
WITH YOUR FRIENDS.
AND REMEMBER, IT'S NOT
MAGIC, IT'S MATH.

A big explosion brings the show's logo back on the screen.

(music plays)

The end credits roll.

Teacher Joel reappears and says WELCOME BACK.
WASN'T THAT
A COOL MATH MAGIC TRICK?
JUST LIKE THAT PAPERCLIP TRICK,
YOU MIGHT WANT TO REWIND
THIS EPISODE LATER IN
THE DAY AND PRACTICE
THAT MATH TRICK
A FEW TIMES ON YOUR OWN.
AND THEN SHOW IT
TO MEMBERS OF YOUR FAMILY
AND SEE IF YOU CAN AMAZE THEM.
NOW, SPEAKING OF AMAZING
MATH MAGIC TRICKS.
I'VE GOT
ONE I WANT TO SHOW YOU NOW.
PLEASE GRAB THAT PAPER
AND PENCIL
THAT WE TALKED ABOUT EARLIER,
BECAUSE WE'RE GOING TO DO SOME
MATH MIND READING MAGIC.
ON YOUR PAPER AT HOME,
I WOULD LIKE YOU
TO WRITE A NUMBER
BETWEEN ONE AND TEN.
ANY NUMBER BETWEEN ONE AND TEN.
GO AHEAD AND WRITE IT NOW,
GOT A COUPLE SECONDS!
AWESOME. THE NEXT THING
I WANT YOU TO DO
IS THINK OF THAT NUMBER,
TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT YOU WROTE,
AND DOUBLE IT.
THINK ABOUT WHAT WE
KNOW ABOUT DOUBLING NUMBERS.
IF YOU'VE PUT THE NUMBER FIVE,
YOU'RE GOING TO DOUBLE IT,
TWO FIVES MAKE TEN.
YOU PUT THE NUMBER SEVEN,
YOU'RE GOING TO DOUBLE IT.
TWO SEVENS MAKE 14.
SO, WHATEVER NUMBER YOU
PICKED BETWEEN ONE AND TEN,
WRITE THAT DOWN.
THE NEXT NUMBER YOU'RE GOING TO
WRITE IS THAT NUMBER DOUBLED.
I'LL GIVE YOU A FEW SECONDS.
LOOK AT THE NUMBER YOU'VE
GOT NOW AFTER DOUBLING,
AND YOU'RE GOING TO
ADD TEN TO THAT NUMBER.
NEXT STEP IS ADDING
TEN TO THAT NUMBER.
AFTER YOU DOUBLED IT.
YOU'RE GOING TO TAKE
THAT NUMBER YOU GOT NOW
AND DIVIDE IT IN HALF.
THAT NUMBER DIVIDED BY TWO.
WRITE THAT NUMBER DOWN
WHEN YOU'VE GOT IT.
NOW THE LAST STEP,
THINK OF THE NUMBER
YOU THOUGHT OF WAY
BACK AT THE BEGINNING.
AND SUBTRACT THAT FROM
THE DIVIDED NUMBER.
GIVE YOU A LITTLE BIT OF TIME.
BUT I'LL LET YOU KNOW
THAT THE MAGIC HAS STARTED.
DO YOU HAVE THAT NUMBER?
I'M READING YOUR MIND
THROUGH THE SCREEN!
DO YOU HAVE THE NUMBER
FIVE ON YOUR PAPER?
I BET YOU DO!
THAT'S BECAUSE
IT'S NOT REALLY MAGIC,
THERE'S
SOME MATH PATTERNS THERE.
SO, JUST LIKE THE MAGIC
TRICKS WE'VE LEARNED SO FAR,
YOU CAN GO BACK LATER TODAY
AND PRACTICE THAT
ONE A COUPLE TIMES.
ASK SOMEONE IN YOUR
FAMILY TO PICK A NUMBER
BETWEEN ONE AND TEN,
ASK THEM TO DOUBLE IT,
ASK THEM TO ADD TEN,
ASK THEM TO DIVIDE IT IN HALF,
THEN ASK THEM TO SUBTRACT
THEIR ORIGINAL NUMBER.
AND NO MATTER WHAT
NUMBER THEY PICKED,
THEY'RE
GOING TO END UP WITH FIVE.
MATH CAN BE SO MAGIC,
BUT DID YOU KNOW WORDS
CAN BE MAGIC TOO?

He shows a black hat and says I'VE GOT MY MAGIC HAT
READY TO GO
TO SHOW YOU
A LITTLE BIT OF WORD MAGIC.
TOGETHER, WE'RE GOING TO
TURN TWO WORDS INTO ONE WORD.
DON'T BELIEVE ME?
LET'S TRY IT OUT.
THE FIRST WORD I WANT
TO SHOW YOU IS, BUTTER.
I'M GOING TO PUT THE WORD
BUTTER IN MY MAGIC WORD HAT.
THE NEXT WORD I WANT TO SHOW
YOU, THERE IS A LITTLE FLY.
I'M GOING TO PUT THE
WORD FLY INTO MY MAGIC HAT.

He places two pieces of paper inside the hat.

He continues DO YOU KNOW
ANY MAGIC WORDS AT HOME?
IF YOU DO, SHOUT THEM OUT NOW,
NICE AND LOUD.
WE'VE PUT BUTTER IN THE HAT.
WE'VE PUT FLY IN THE HAT,
JUST LIKE MAGIC.
IT TURNS
INTO THE WORD BUTTERFLY.
WE CAN TURN TWO WORDS INTO ONE.
TAKE A LOOK.
I'VE GOT THE WORD SNOW.
LET'S DROP
THAT IN THE MAGIC HAT.
I'VE GOT THE WORD MAN,
THERE'S MY LITTLE STICK MAN,
DROP IT INTO THE HAT,
GIVE ME THOSE MAGIC WORDS
ONE MORE TIME.
THOSE TWO WORDS
BECOME ONE LIKE MAGIC,
AND THEY'VE
TURNED INTO A SNOWMAN.
CHECK IT OUT.
I'VE GOT THE WORD BOOK.
WE LOVE LOOKING
AT BOOKS AT HOME.
PUT IT IN THE MAGIC HAT
ALONG WITH THE WORD CASE,
THERE IS A LITTLE
BRIEFCASE OR A SUITCASE.
JUST LIKE MAGIC,
THOSE TWO WORDS BECOME ONE
AND MAKE A BOOKCASE.
NOW, THIS ISN'T REALLY
WORD MAGIC,
BUT WE'RE LOOKING AT THESE
WORDS CALLED COMPOUND WORDS,
AND IN OUR READING AND WRITING,
WHEN WE PUT TOGETHER
TWO SMALLER WORDS
TO MAGICALLY MAKE
ONE BIGGER WORD,
WE CALL IT COMPOUND WORDS.
TOGETHER,
LET'S CHECK OUT THIS EPISODE
OF WACKY WORD SONGS TO
SEE COMPOUND WORDS IN ACTION.

A caption reads "TVO Kids presents."

Colourful animated letters with googly eyes jump around and form the name "Wacky Word Songs."

A song says IT's THE WACKY WACKY WORD SONGS.
OH YEAH.

Zoey is in her early teens, with long straight brown hair and wears brown trousers, a polka dotted yellow sweater and a denim jacket.

In the attic, Zoey holds two coins and says HI.
I'M TRYING TO LEARN A MAGIC
TRICK.
ABRACADABRA, TWO BECOME ONE.
DIDN'T WORK.
GUESS I NEED MORE PRACTICE.
BUT I KNOW HOW TO MAKE ONE WORD
OUT OF TWO.
IT'S CALLED A COMPOUND WORD.
LIKE PANCAKE AND BASEBALL.
ABRACADABRA, LET THE SONG BEGIN.

(music plays)

Dresses as a magician, Zoey sings a song that says I CAN MAKE BIG WORDS OUT OF
SMALLER ONES.
THEY'RE COMPOUND WORDS AND
THERE ARE TONS.
HERE'S POP, HERE'S CORN
THERE YOU GO, POPCORN, YUM.
MAKE ONE WORD OUT OF TWO.
YOU GET A WORD THAT IS BRAND
NEW.
THE SMALLER WORDS THAT YOU
GREW.
THEY'RE COMPOUND WORDS IT'S
TRUE.
WITH A LITTLE WORD LIKE SNOW,
I CAN MAKE...
SNOWBALL, SNOWBOARD, AND EVEN
SNOWFLAKE.
HERE'S TOOTH FOR TOOTHBRUSH,
TOOTHACHE, TOOTHPICK.
MAKE ONE WORD OUT OF TWO, WHAT
A TRICK.
START WITH BALL TO MAKE
FOOTBALL AND EYEBALL.
AND CHECK OUT THIS SUPER SPICY
MEATBALL.
MAKE ONE WORD OUT OF TWO.
YOU GET A WORD THAT IS BRAND
NEW.
THE SMALLER WORDS THAT YOU
GREW.
THEY'RE COMPOUND WORDS IT'S
TRUE.

The song ends.

Zoey says AND NOW...
WATCH ME DRINK A DELICIOUS
COMPOUND WORD.
MILKSHAKE.

She takes a sip and says MMMM MMMM.

A caption reads "Apartment 11 production."

Joel says AND WE'RE BACK.
THAT WAS A LOT OF FUN.
I WONDER IF LATER TODAY
YOU CAN FIND EVEN MORE
COMPOUND WORDS
AROUND YOUR HOUSE.
WOW, MAGICIANS,
WE'VE ALREADY LEARNED
A PAPER AND
PAPERCLIP MAGIC TRICK.
WE'VE LEARNED A MATH
MIND READING TRICK.
AND NOW WE LEARNED HOW JUST
LIKE MAGIC COMPOUND WORDS
TAKE TWO SMALL WORDS AND
MAGICALLY MAKE ONE BIG WORD.
WE'RE ALMOST READY TO
PERFORM OUR OWN MAGIC SHOWS
IN OUR HOUSES.
BUT IF YOU ARE GOING
TO USE THESE TRICKS
AND PERFORM A MAGIC
SHOW FOR YOUR FAMILY,
YOU NEED TO DECIDE
YOUR MAGICIAN NAME.
NOW, YOU KNOW, MY NAME IS JOEL,
BUT IF I WAS GOING ON STAGE
AS A MAGICIAN,
I MIGHT WANT A
MORE EXCITING OR MAGICAL NAME,
JUST LIKE
THE INCREDIBLE JOEL...
THE MARVELOUS JOEL,
THE MYSTIFYING JOEL,
OR THE FABULOUS JOEL.
YOU'LL NOTICE THERE'S
A BIT OF A PATTERN HERE.
I'M TAKING THE WORD "THE," THEN
I'M PUTTING IN AN ADJECTIVE.
REMEMBER,
THAT'S A DESCRIBING WORD.
AND THEN I'M USING
MY NAME AT THE END.
NOW FOR YOUR MAGIC SHOWS
AT HOME, I WANT YOU TO WORK
ON GIVING YOURSELF A MAGICIAN
NAME AND MAKING A SIGN
YOU CAN HANG
ON STAGE FOR YOUR MAGIC SHOW.

Holding a light orange sign, he says THERE'S MINE, "THE BLANK JOEL."
I'M GOING TO KEEP THINKING
OF A REALLY GOOD ADJECTIVE
TO PUT IN THERE.
AND I WANT YOU TO THINK
OF YOUR MAGICIAN NAMES AS WELL.
WHILE WE'RE THINKING OF THIS,
WE'RE GOING TO CHECK OUT
AN AMAZING EPISODE
OF XAVIER RIDDLE,
WHERE YOU'RE GOING TO
MEET A VERY FAMOUS MAGICIAN
AND I'LL SEE YOU AFTER.

Xavier, Yadina and Brad are three little cartoon kids. Xavier wears a red hoodie with headphones and has two antennas. Yadina has two black ponytails and carries a turtle toy. Brad wears glasses, a red cape and a green jacket.

Brad says READY FOR ADVENTURE?
He sings WHO'S THAT KID WHO
CAN TRAVEL THROUGH TIME?

Xavier says XAVIER RIDDLE
AND THE SECRET MUSEUM!

Yadina sings WHICH GREAT
HEROES WILL WE FIND?

They get into a painting and travel through history. They encounter historical characters, books and monuments.

Xavier sings XAVIER RIDDLE
AND THE SECRET MUSEUM!

Brad sings EVERY SINGLE
BOY AND GIRL

Yadina sings HAS WHAT IT TAKES

Kids say TO CHANGE THE WORLD!
XAVIER RIDDLE AND
THE SECRET MUSEUM!

Brad says BRAD!

Yadina says AND YADINA!

Kids sings AND THE
SECRET MUSEUM!
DR. ZOOM AND THE
SECRET MUSEUM!

Xavier sings XAVIER RIDDLE
AND THE SECRET MUSEUM!
SHH!

In a white space, Brad says HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE SHOW.
TODAY, WE'RE MEETING
A REAL-LIFE MAGICIAN,
HARRY HOUDINI.

A black and white portrait of a man with a suit pointing forward appears.

Brad says A MAGICIAN IS SOMEONE WHO DOES
TRICKS THAT SEEM IMPOSSIBLE,
LIKE MAKING
YADINA MAGICALLY APPEAR.

Yadina pops out of the floor.

She yawns and says SORRY I'M LATE. I
WAS NAPPING. TA-DA!

Brad says HARRY HOUDINI WAS KNOWN
AROUND THE WORLD
FOR HIS MAGIC TRICKS
AND FOR HIS BRAVE ESCAPE ACTS,
LIKE THIS!

Xavier jumps in inside a sleeping bag.

Xavier says WATCH AS I ESCAPE
FROM THIS SLEEPING BAG.
ANY SECOND NOW.
(grunting)
BOY, THIS ZIPPER'S HARD
TO WORK FROM THE INSIDE.

Brad tries to open the bag and says LET'S JUST LEAVE
THE TRICKS TO HOUDINI AND...
JUST START THE SHOW.

(soft piano music plays)
Now, the friends sleep by a tent at night.

Xavier says NOTHING LIKE CAMPING OUT UNDER
THE STARS
WITH YOUR NATURE TROOP
AND BEST FRIENDS.

Brad says MY FIRST
FULL NIGHT IN THE MUSEUM.
I'M SO EXCITED I DON'T
EVEN THINK I CAN CLOSE MY EYES.
I'VE BEEN DREAMING
ABOUT THIS MOMENT.

Yadina says WELL, BRAD, THE WAIT IS OVER.

Xavier says 'NIGHT, GUYS.

Brad says GOOD NIGHT.

Yadina says 'NIGHT, BRAD. 'NIGHT
BIG BROTHER. 'NIGHT DR. ZOOM.

(dramatic music plays)
(animals chirping and hooting)

Animals' eyes glow in the dark.

Brad yells GHOST!

He runs to a door and says WE'RE LOCKED IN, NO!

Yadina says YOU HAVE TO PULL.

Brad says OH.
I DON'T THINK I CAN STAY
IN THE MUSEUM ALL NIGHT.
I MEAN, I WANT TO,
BUT IT'S WAY TOO SCARY.

Xavier says HMMM, THIS SOUNDS
LIKE A BIG PROBLEM.
ARE YOU THINKING
WHAT I'M THINKING?
TO THE SECRET MUSEUM!

Brad says UM...

(suspenseful music plays)
They walk down an aisle. Brad bumps into an armour.

Yadina says WAIT, WHY ARE WE BEING SNEAKY?
THERE'S NO ONE HERE BUT US.

Xavier says OH, YEAH, GOOD POINT YADINA.

Brad says NO ONE BUT US, AND THE GHOSTS!

Xavier says I WONDER WHO THE SECRET MUSEUM
WILL SEND US TO MEET.

The friends leave through a portal in a painting.

Yadina says AND WHERE WE'LL GO!

Brand says AND WHEN!
(thunder crashing)
AH! WAIT FOR ME!

Yadina says LOOK OUT BELOW!

Xavier says WOO-HOO!

They slide down a pole into the secret museum and run to a hologram atop an elevated podium.

They say HI BERBY.

Xavier says WE'RE GETTING SOMETHING.

Yadina says A KEY!
I WONDER WHAT IT OPENS.

Brad says MAYBE THE FRONT DOOR.
I GUESS THE SECRET MUSEUM
AGREES, IT'S TOO SCARY HERE.
I'LL JUST LET MYSELF OUT.

Brad grabs the key but Berby stops him.

Yadina says OH, BRAD!

Xavier says LOOK, THE MUSEUM
DOESN'T WANT YOU TO GO.
IT WANTS YOU
TO MEET...

A digital image of Harry Houdini appears.

Xavier says HARRY HOUDINI!

Yadina says IN WISCONSIN,
THAT'S IN AMERICA.

Xavier says AND WE'RE GOING
TO THE YEAR 1881.
MORE THAN 130 YEARS AGO.

Brad says HOW CAN HARRY HOUDINI
HELP ME GET THROUGH
A WHOLE NIGHT IN THE MUSEUM?
DO YOU THINK HE
HAS GHOST REPELLENT?

Xavier says ONLY ONE WAY TO FIND OUT.
READY FOR AN
ADVENTURE?

Berby absorbs the hologram.

Yadina says READY!

They each place a hand on Berby and begin to float.

Brad says IT'S HAPPENING!

Yadina says HANG ON, DR. ZOOM!

Xavier says WOO-HOO!

(inspirational music plays)

They travel through a series of historical images. They appear by a circus.

Xavier says SO THIS IS WISCONSIN IN 1881.

Brad says IT SURE IS... FOGGY.

Xavier says WHY WOULD THE MUSEUM
SEND US TO A CIRCUS?

Brad says BECAUSE THEY'RE FUN
AND NOT SCARY AT ALL.

(animal growling)
A shadow approaches them.

Yadina says STAY CLOSE, DR. ZOOM!

Houdini appears. He has curly brown hair.

Houdini says OH, SORRY ABOUT THAT.
MY MOM SAYS I'M ALWAYS
SURPRISING PEOPLE.

Brad faints and says OOF!

Houdini says YOU OKAY?
TRY TAKING A DEEP BREATH
TO CALM DOWN.
IT'LL MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER.

(Brad breathes heavily)

Xavier says WAIT A MINUTE. ISN'T THAT-
IT'S HIM!
GUYS, IT'S HARRY HOUDINI.

Berby beeps affirmatively.

Houdini says ARE YOU GOING
TO THE CIRCUS, TOO?
I'VE NEVER BEEN BEFORE,
BUT I HEAR IT'S FULL
OF AMAZING THINGS.

Yadina says WE ARE NOW.

Houdini says GREAT. LET'S GO.

Brad says I'M... COMING!

They watch a man that is about to walk down a wire.

Houdini says IT'S HIM, FEARLESS GENE.

Brad says HE'S NOT GOING TO WALK
ACROSS THAT, IS HE?

They nod.

(drumroll)
(Fearless Gene breathing deeply)

Xavier says WHOA!

Houdini says TALK ABOUT BRAVE!

Yadina says OH, I LOVE THE SNAZZY
RED TIGHTS.

Brad says I CAN'T LOOK.
HE'S SO HIGH UP.

Houdini says WOW.
THAT'S WHAT I WANT
TO DO ONE DAY.
BE A BRAVE PERFORMER
AND AMAZE PEOPLE.

Brad says YOU DO?
BUT BEING A BRAVE PERFORMER
LOOKS SCARY.

Houdini says MAYBE A LITTLE,
BUT I REALLY WANT TO TRY,
EVEN IF I AM NERVOUS.

Yadina says THAT'S LIKE YOU, BRAD,
BECAUSE YOU'RE NERVOUS
TO STAY AT THE MUSEUM.

Houdini says I BETTER START PRACTICING.
WILL YOU HELP ME?

Brad gestures No and says UH-UH.

Yadina says SURE!

Eating popcorn, Xavier says OF COURSE.

Brad says HEY!
WHERE DID YOU GET THE POPCORN?

Next, Houdini balances on a piece of wood.

Yadina says YOU CAN DO IT,
HOUDINI, YOU CAN DO IT!

Xavier says GREAT JOB.

Brad says OH, BE CAREFUL.

Houdini says WHOA!

He falls and says WHOA, WHOA, OH.

Brad says OOH!

Yadina says THIS MIGHT TAKE A WHILE.

Xavier says MAYBE WE SHOULD TRY SOMETHING
A LITTLE EASIER FIRST.
LET'S TRY THIS ROPE.

Houdini says WHOA!

Houdini walks across a rope sitting on the ground.

Xavier says MUCH BETTER. WHOA!

Yadina says BRAD, ARE YOU COMING?

Brad says NOW, THIS I CAN HANDLE.
WHOA, WHOA, WHOA.

Brad falls.

Houdini says OKAY, I'M READY TO DO
A REAL TIGHTROPE WALK.
IT'S TIME TO RAISE
THE ROPE.

Yadina says WHOA.

Houdini says OH, OH, OH!

Houdini ends up tied up to a tree.

Xavier says UH OH!

Yadina says HE'S ALL TANGLED UP.

Houdini breaths deeply and releases himself.

Yadina says NICE MOVES, HOUDINI.

Brad says HOW DID YOU DO THAT?

Houdini says I JUST TOOK A DEEP
CALMING BREATH.
THEN ONCE I WAS RELAXED,
I WASN'T SCARED ANYMORE
AND IT MAKES ME FEEL BETTER.

Xavier says SO COOL.

Houdini says IS ESCAPING FROM BEING TIED UP
EXCITING?

Xavier says MM-MM.

Houdini says WELL, HERE I GO.

Houdini walks across the rope tied between two trees and falls.

He says WHOA, WHOA!
I WAS TOO NERVOUS.
THE FEARLESS GENE WASN'T!
HE REALLY SEEMED FEARLESS.

Xavier says I WONDER HOW HE STAYED
SO CALM
WHEN HE WAS DOING SOMETHING
SO SCARY.

Houdini says HMM.
JUST BEFORE HE DID HIS TRICK,
HE TOOK A BIG, DEEP BREATH,
WAY DOWN TO HIS TUMMY.
THAT MUST BE IT.
HE TOOK DEEP BREATHS TO
CALM DOWN, JUST LIKE I DID
WHEN I WAS TANGLED IN THE ROPE.

(Houdini breathing deeply)
(all breathing deeply)

Brad says HUH, THAT DOES MAKE ME
FEEL BETTER.

Yadina says DR. ZOOM
FEELS VERY RELAXED NOW.

Houdini says OK, I'M READY TO TRY AGAIN.

Yadina says BREATHE!

Brad says WOO!
YOU CAN DO IT.

Houdini says WHOA, WHOA!

Houdini is about to fall but he takes a deep breath and continues.

Brad says THAT'S IT. HE'S DOING IT!

Yadina says WAY TO GO, HARRY!

Xavier says YOU'RE DOING GREAT.

Brad says I WONDER IF TAKING A
DEEP BREATH TO CALM DOWN
WILL ACTUALLY HELP
HOUDINI BECOME
A REAL BRAVE PERFORMER
LIKE FEARLESS GENE.

Xavier says IT LOOKS LIKE WE'RE ABOUT
TO FIND OUT.

They touch Berby and travel through time.

Xavier says IT'S 31 YEARS LATER.

Brad says AND THERE'S HARRY HOUDINI.
WOW!

Houdini is tied with a rope on a stage. He breaths deeply and releases himself.

(audience cheering)

Brad says HE REALLY DID BECOME
A BRAVE PERFORMER,
JUST LIKE HE WANTED.
SO MAYBE I CAN SPEND THE NIGHT
IN MUSEUM, OR AT LEAST TRY TO.
IF I JUST TAKE A
DEEP BREATH TO RELAX.

Yadina says I KNOW YOU CAN, BRAD.
DR. ZOOM THINKS SO TOO.
(Berby beeping)
SO DOES BERBY.

Xavier says ME TOO, BERBY.
LET'S GO HOME.

Back in the museum, Brad says OK, HERE WE GO,
SPENDING THE
WHOLE NIGHT IN THE MUSEUM.
THE DARK, DARK, DARK,
DARK, DARK, DARK MUSEUM.
(thunder crashing)
IT'S, IT'S, IT'S...

The shadow of a dinosaur appears.

Xavier says REMEMBER, TAKE A BIG,
DEEP BREATH.

Yadina says ALL THE WAY DOWN TO YOUR TUMMY.

Brad breaths deeply and says HEY, IT'S JUST MURRAY.
I SEE HIM EVERY DAY,
YOU'RE NOT SCARY, MURRAY.

Xavier says SUPER COOL DINO.

Yadina says HE'S VERY FRIENDLY.

Brad says YOU KNOW, YOU GUYS WERE RIGHT,
THE MUSEUM REALLY IS
NEAT AT NIGHT,
BUT YOU'RE STILL GOING
TO STAY CLOSE, RIGHT?

Xavier says RIGHT.

Yadina says RIGHT.

Brad sighs and says GOODNIGHT, YADINA.
GOODNIGHT, XAVIER.
GOODNIGHT, MURRAY.

In a gruff voice, Yadina says GOODNIGHT, BRAD.

Brad gasps.

Later, in the white space, Brad says WASN'T HARRY HOUDINI SO BRAVE?

Xavier says HE BECAME KNOWN ALL
OVER THE WORLD
FOR HIS INCREDIBLE SHOWS,
AND UNBELIEVABLE ESCAPE ACTS.

Yadina says THEY WERE EVEN SNAZZIER THAN
FEARLESS GENE'S RED TIGHTS.

Brad says THANKS FOR JOINING US ON
OUR AWESOME ADVENTURE
TO MEET A REAL LIFE MAGICIAN,
HARRY HOUDINI.

Yadina says WHO USED TO BE A KID
JUST LIKE YOU AND ME.

Xavier says SO, KIDS LIKE YOU
CAN CHANGE THE WORLD.
I'M XAVIER.

Yadina says I AM YADINA.

Brad says AND I'M BRAD.
AND WHEN I'M SCARED,
I'LL ALWAYS TAKE A DEEP BREATH
TO CALM DOWN AND FEEL BETTER.
JUST LIKE HARRY HOUDINI.

Brad and his friends stand behind a cape. Brad drops the cape and they disappear.

(theme music plays)

The end credits roll.

Joel says HI TVOKIDS, AND WELCOME BACK,
I HOPE YOU LIKED THAT EPISODE.
NOW, IN THAT CLIP, WE LEARNED
A LOT ABOUT HARRY HOUDINI
AND WE LEARNED THAT
SOMETIMES HE FELT A BIT SCARED.
AND OUR MESSAGE IS THAT'S OK.
MAYBE YOU'VE FELT SCARED
BEFORE. I KNOW I HAVE.
IN FACT,
SCARED IS A FEELING
THAT KIDS FEEL AND GROWN-UPS
FEEL FROM TIME TO TIME.
IN OUR CLASS AT SCHOOL, WE
TALK A LOT ABOUT OUR FEELINGS.
AND I LIKE
TO ASK ALL THE STUDENTS,
"HOW ARE YOU FEELING TODAY?"
BECAUSE I THINK IT'S
REALLY IMPORTANT AS A LEARNER
AND AS A HUMAN BEING TO
CHECK IN ON YOUR FEELINGS.
WHEN WE THINK ABOUT FEELINGS,
SOMETIMES WE THINK
ABOUT HAPPY OR SAD,
BUT YOU MIGHT KNOW
THERE'S A LOT MORE
FEELINGS OUT THERE.
WHAT ONES CAN YOU FEEL?
WHAT ONES DO YOU FEEL TODAY?
SOMETIMES WE FEEL EXCITED.
SOMETIMES WE FEEL DISAPPOINTED.
SOMETIMES WE FEEL PROUD.
SOMETIMES WE FEEL FRUSTRATED.
SOMETIMES WE FEEL BRAVE.
AND SOMETIMES WE FEEL TIRED.
NO MATTER WHAT YOU'RE FEELING,
THERE'S NO RIGHT,
THERE'S NO WRONG.
IT'S HOW YOU
FEEL AT THAT MOMENT.
BUT WE'RE GOING TO CHECK OUT AN
EPISODE NOW OF HOW DO YOU FEEL?
THAT'S GOING TO HELP US
OUT WITH SOME STRATEGIES
THAT WE CAN USE
IF WE'RE FEELING
ONE OF THOSE TRICKIER FEELINGS.
AND I'LL SEE YOU AFTER.

A title reads "TVO Kids Presents."

In animation, the opening of the show rolls.

As the sun comes up between the mountains, colourful letters with different mood facial expressions form the name of the show over a rainbow. It reads "How do you feel?"

A song goes HOW DO YOU FEEL?
AND HOW DO YOU FEEL?

Akin is in his early teens, with slightly long braided brown hair and wears black jeans and a red hoodie.

Akin goes down stairs into a living room full with furniture and toys.

Akin says HEY, GANG, I'VE HAD
WHAT YOU MIGHT CALL A DAY.
FIRST I DROPPED MY SANDWICH
AT LUNCH,
THEN I COULDN'T FIND
MY BASEBALL GLOVE,
THEN I STUBBED MY TOE.
HONESTLY, IT'S HARD TO EXPRESS
HOW I'M FEELING RIGHT NOW.
YOU EVER HAVE TROUBLE
EXPRESSING YOUR FEELINGS?
THAT'S OK. IT'S TOUGH
TO TELL PEOPLE HOW WE FEEL.
SOMETIMES WHEN
I'M HAVING TROUBLE
TURNING MY FEELINGS INTO WORDS,
I TURN TO A DIFFERENT WAY
OF EXPRESSING MYSELF, ART.

(mellow techno music plays)

As he draws, he says ART CAN BE AN AWESOME WAY
TO HELP US UNDERSTAND
AND SHARE OUR FEELINGS,
AND THERE'S NO WRONG WAY
OR RIGHT WAY TO DO IT.
I LIKE TO PUT PENCIL CRAYON
TO PAPER AND DRAW MY MOOD.
I FIND THE WEATHER
IS A GOOD WAY
TO REPRESENT MY FEELINGS,
BUT DO WHATEVER WORKS FOR YOU.
AS YOU CAN SEE HERE,
IT TURNS OUT
I'M FEELING PRETTY FRUSTRATED.
MAYBE AN UMBRELLA
CAN WEATHER MY MOOD.
IF I DON'T FEEL LIKE DRAWING,
SOMETIMES I'LL MAKE A COLLAGE.
HERE I'M MAKING
A COLLAGE ABOUT MY FEELINGS,
I'M CUTTING
OUT DIFFERENT THINGS
THAT REPRESENT MY EMOTIONS.
IT MIGHT BE DIFFICULT TO TELL,
BUT THESE DIFFERENT SHAPES
REPRESENT ME
AND HOW I'M FEELING.
THAT'S ONE OF
THE MOST FUN PARTS,
DISCOVERING HOW YOU FEEL.
THROUGH ART!
THIS IS ONE OF
MY FAVOURITE ART PROJECTS,
I DRAW A HEART,
THEN WRITE DOWN
OR DRAW ALL THE THINGS
THAT MAKE MY HEART FEEL FULL.
YOU CAN WRITE A WORD, LIKE MOM,
OR DRAW A PICTURE
LIKE THIS PICTURE
OF MY DEAR OLD DOG PATTY.
WHEN YOU'RE FINISHED,
YOU CAN SHOW SOMEONE YOUR ART
AND EXPLAIN TO THEM
WHAT IT MEANS
OR YOU CAN JUST KEEP IT
FOR YOURSELF.
AND REMEMBER, THERE'S NO
RIGHT OR WRONG WAY TO DO ART.
THERE'S NO GOOD OR BAD WAY
TO DO ART. THERE'S JUST YOU.

Music plays as the end credits roll.

On another episode, WOO, TODAY WAS ONE
FOR THE BOOKS.

He jumps onto a couch and says WHEN I'M FEELING ANXIOUS,
STRESSED,
OR JUST GENERALLY BLEAGH, I KNOW
MY BRAIN IS TELLING ME
I COULD USE SOME
ALONE TIME.
AND THERE'S NO BETTER PLACE FOR
ALONE TIME
THAN A FEELINGS FORT.
YOU CAN MAKE IT AS FLOOFY AND
FANCY AS YOU WANT,
BUT FOR ME, A FIVE STAR
FEELINGS FORT
COMES DOWN TO A FEW KEY
INGREDIENTS.
ONE: SOME KIND OF DRAPE-Y,
CANOPY TYPE ROOF.
I ASKED MY PARENTS IF I COULD
USE SOME BEDSHEETS.
I USED CLOTHESPINS TO HOLD
UP THE WALLS.

As he speaks, he sets the fort.

He continues TIE IT UP TIGHT.
DON'T FORGET TO MAKE AN
ENTRANCE TO THE FORT.
TWO: PLENTY OF BLANKETS
AND PILLOWS,
SO I CAN BE COZY AND TAKE A
NAP IF I'M SLEEPY.

He hangs a sign that reads "Space, please!"

He continues THREE: A CHILL VIBE.
THIS IS UP TO YOUR
PERSONAL TASTE,
BUT LIKE I LIKE TO ADD SOME
MUSIC AND SOME COOL LIGHTING.
YOU CAN ADD ON FROM HERE!
MAYBE YOU WANT TO BRING IN A
SNACK, A BOOK, OR YOUR JOURNAL.
ALL A FEELINGS FORT REALLY IS,
IS A SPACE TO
THINK YOUR THOUGHTS
AND FEEL YOUR FEELINGS
IN PRIVATE.
WE ALL NEED SPACE
SOMETIMES,
SO DON'T BE AFRAID TO SPEAK UP
AND ASK FOR IT.

Using a speaker, he says ATTENTION WORLD: I'M TAKING
A BREAK!

Now, he reads in his fort.

He says NOW WHERE WAS I? OH YEAH!
EXPLORERS HAD FOUND A CAVE OF A
THOUSAND SECRETS.
BUT NO ONE KNEW HOW TO
GET INSIDE.

Music plays as the end credits roll.

Joel says I HOPE THAT EPISODE GAVE YOU
SOME AMAZING IDEAS
FOR WHAT YOU CAN DO
WHEN YOU'RE FEELING
DIFFERENT FEELINGS
THROUGHOUT THE DAY.
WE SAW A FEW STRATEGIES THERE.
HE LIKED TO MAKE ART,
WHEN HE WAS FEELING UPSET.
HE DREW AND THOUGHT ABOUT
PUTTING HIS FEELINGS ON PAPER.
HE ALSO BUILT A FEELINGS FORT
WHERE HE COULD HAVE
SOME SAFE, ALONE TIME
TO CALM HIS ENERGY DOWN.
THOSE ARE BOTH
EXCELLENT STRATEGIES.
IF YOU'RE FEELING ONE OF THOSE
FEELINGS, LIKE DISAPPOINTED
OR FRUSTRATED,
OR JEALOUS, OR UPSET,
BUT YOU CAN KEEP WORKING
TO FIND MORE STRATEGIES
THAT WORK FOR YOU.
I WILL TEACH YOU ONE MORE.
WHEN I'M FEELING
A TRICKIER FEELING,
I REALLY ENJOY
GOING FOR A WALK.
FOR ME, GETTING OUTSIDE,
USING MY BODY,
AND BREATHING SOME FRESH AIR
REALLY HELPS ME FEEL BETTER.
SO GIVE THAT A TRY NEXT TIME
YOU'RE FEELING A LITTLE DOWN.
YOU COULD ALSO HAVE
A FEELINGS JOURNAL AT HOME
WHERE YOU WRITE ABOUT
YOUR FEELINGS EACH DAY.
AND THE MOST IMPORTANT
STRATEGY THAT YOU CAN DO
WHEN YOU'RE FEELING
A CERTAIN WAY
IS TALKING TO SOMEONE
YOU TRUST,
LETTING THEM KNOW HOW YOU FEEL
AND SHARING THAT INFORMATION
WITH THEM IN A SAFE WAY.
NOW, BEFORE WE SAY GOODBYE,
I WANT TO SHOW YOU
ONE LAST MAGIC TRICK.

Showing a green piece of paper with the letter M, he says I'VE GOT THE
LETTER M FOR MAGIC.
BUT WHAT IF I TOLD YOU
I COULD TURN THIS LETTER M...
INTO ANOTHER LETTER?
GIVE ME YOUR BEST MAGIC WORDS
ON THE COUNT OF THREE,
TWO, ONE.
TA DA!

He turns the piece of paper upside down and says JUST LIKE MAGIC,
THAT LETTER M
HAS TURNED INTO...
W FOR WAND.
A LOT OF MAGICIANS
USE A MAGIC WAND.
LET'S CHECK OUT THIS
EPISODE OF ABC SINGSONG
TO SEE WHAT OTHER
W WORDS WE CAN THINK OF.

TVO Kids and Goddard Brown original.

[GIGGLES]

The name of the show reads "ABC Singsong, by Warren Brown and Adam Goddard."

An announcer says IT'S AN ABC SINGSONG
ABOUT THE LETTER W!

An animated man sings a song that says WOO WOO W!
I CAN HEAR A W!
WOO WOO W!
DO YOU HEAR A W?
WHEEL! WINDOW!
WHAT ABOUT WORM?
THEY ALL START WITH W.
I CAN CONFIRM.
CAN YOU HEAR THAT W
WHEN I SAY WOW?
OOH! A SLICE OF WATERMELON!
I'M HUNGRY NOW!
YOU CAN HEAR THAT W
WHEN I SAY WINK!
OR WINDY WINTER WEATHER.
PRETTY COOL DON'T YOU THINK?
W HAPPENS WHEN WE
SOUND OUT WAGON.
OR WONDERFUL WALRUS.
LOOK THAT WALRUS
IS A WAVING!
DO YOU HEAR A W
WHEN I SAY WHALE?
SHE'S SWIMMING IN THE WATER
AND SHE'S WAGGING HER TAIL!
IT'S A WORLD OF W!
WOO WOO W!
I CAN HEAR A W!
WOO WOO W!
DO YOU HEAR A W?

A caption reads "Produced in association with TVO Kids. Marney Malabar, executive producer, TVO."

Joel says ALL RIGHT, IT'S JUST ABOUT TIME
TO SAY GOODBYE,
BUT BEFORE I LEAVE YOU,
I WANT TO REMIND YOU
OF SOME MORE LEARNING
YOU CAN DO AT HOME.
OVER THIS HOUR,
WE LEARNED ALL SORTS
OF MAGIC TRICKS,
INCLUDING PAPER AND PAPERCLIPS,
SOME MATH MIND READING,
SOME COMPOUND WORD MAGIC.
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY,
WE LEARNED TO ALWAYS CHECK IN
WITH OUR FEELINGS,
NOTICE HOW WE'RE FEELING,
NAME OUR FEELINGS,
AND USE A STRATEGY
THAT WORKS FOR US, INCLUDING
TALKING TO SOMEONE WE TRUST.
BUT MY JOB FOR YOU
AT HOME NOW
IS TO MAKE YOUR VERY OWN
MAGIC SHOW.
HERE'S A CHECKLIST I CREATED.
YOU MIGHT WANT TO DO
A SIMILAR CHECKLIST AT HOME
TO KEEP YOU ON TRACK.
THE FIRST THING YOU'RE
GOING TO THINK OF
IS WHAT'S YOUR MAGIC NAME?
YOU'RE NOT
GOING TO BE JUST JOEL.
YOU'RE GOING TO ADD
AN ADJECTIVE
TO GIVE YOU A NICE MAGIC NAME.
ONCE YOU'VE WORKED ON THAT,
DON'T FORGET TO MAKE YOUR SIGN.
YOU CAN HANG THIS UP
ON THE BACK OF YOUR STAGE
OR WHEREVER YOU'RE PERFORMING.
NOW, MAGICIANS NEED A COSTUME.
WE SAW THAT TODAY WHEN
WE MET HARRY HOUDINI.
I'VE GOT MY MAGIC HAT,
BUT I WONDER IF YOU CAN FIND
SOMETHING AT HOME
TO BE YOUR MAGICIAN COSTUME.
I TAUGHT YOU
A FEW TRICKS TODAY,
BUT I KNOW TVOKIDS
ARE SUPER CREATIVE
AND YOU CAN COME UP WITH
A FEW MORE MAGIC TRICKS
AT YOUR HOME TODAY.
ONCE YOU'VE GOT ALL
THAT CHECKED OFF,
THE LAST THING YOU
NEED IS AN AUDIENCE.
MAYBE YOU'VE GOT SOME
FAMILY MEMBERS AT HOME
WHO WANT TO ENJOY A MAGIC SHOW,
OR EVEN A FRIEND
THAT YOU CAN CONNECT WITH
OVER THE INTERNET
AND SHOW THEM YOUR TRICKS.
KIND OF LIKE I DID TODAY.
THANK YOU FOR HANGING
OUT ON ANOTHER EPISODE
OF TVOKIDS
POWER HOUR OF LEARNING.
MY NAME IS TEACHER JOEL. I HAD
SO MUCH FUN WITH YOU TODAY.
I HOPE YOU ENJOYED
OUR MAGICAL LEARNING.
AND NOW,
IT'S TIME FOR ME
TO... DISAPPEAR!

He disappears and says BYE, TVOKIDS.

A slate reads "Bonus Material."

In animation, a panda sits on top of green letters forming the phrase "Bamboo Love." Some of the letters are made of Bamboo stems and leaves and some others have Chinese symbols inside. A caption reads "Created by Tero Hollo."

The narrator says HI, BAMBOO LOVE.
WHAT WOULD YOU LOVE
TO LEARN ABOUT TODAY?
MAGIC TRICKS!
BAMBOO LOVE,
WHERE ARE YOU?

A top hat pops up.

(BAMBOO GIGGLING)

The narrator says HURRY!
YOU HAVE TO COME SEE THIS.

The hat disappears.

The narrator gasps and says WHAT A NEAT TRICK.
WHERE DID THAT HAT GO?
BAMBOO LOVE,
WHERE ARE YOU?

She appears behind a cardboard the colour of the room.

The narrator says HA, THERE YOU ARE!
WOW, YOU DID A MAGIC TRICK!
UMM... WHAT ARE YOU
LOOKING FOR IN THAT HAT?
DO YOU NEED SOME HELP?

She shakes her head.

She puts on the hat.

The narrator says HEY, YOUR HAT IS JUMPING
UP AND DOWN!

She takes the hat off and looks inside.

The narrator says OOH! OOH!
ON YOUR HEAD, LOOK!

She has a rabbit sitting on her head.

(GASPING)

She puts the hat back on.

The narrator says UM...WERE YOU PLANNING TO PULL
THAT RABBIT OUT OF YOUR HAT?
WELL, HOW ABOUT YOU TRY THAT
MAGIC TRICK AGAIN?

She nods.

The narrator says MAYBE YOU SHOULD SEE IF THE
RABBIT IS STILL IN THERE?

She takes the hat off and finds a hole in the top.

(GIGGLES)

The narrator says NO RABBIT!
THE RABBIT'S GONE.
HOW WILL YOU FIND
THAT RABBIT?

She takes a carrot out of the hat.

The narrator says WHOA, HOW DID THAT CARROT
GET IN YOUR HAT?

She shakes her head.

The narrator says WILL YOU SHOW ME
HOW YOU DID THAT?
HMM. NOW WHAT ARE YOU
GOING TO DO WITH THAT CARROT?

She gets the carrot close to the hat and something starts eating it.

She gasps.

(CHOMPING)
(GASPS)
(GASPING)

The narrator says WHO TOOK A BITE
OUT OF YOUR CARROT?
YOU DON'T KNOW?

The hat starts moving.

The narrator says UH-OH, YOUR HAT IS
RUNNING AWAY!

Bamboo Love tries to catch the hat but misses.

The narrator says OOPS!
OH!
OOH!
ALMOST!
YOU GOT IT!

She puts on the hat.

The narrator says VERY GOOD!
BUT WHAT ABOUT THE BUNNY?

The bunny pops out form the hole on the top.

The narrator says OH, WOW!...I GET IT!
YOU BOTH WORKED TOGETHER ON
THIS GREAT MAGIC SHOW.
PERFORMING WITH FRIENDS
IS SO MUCH FUN!

She nods.

The narrator says ABRACADABRA!

She takes a bow.

The narrator says TODAY BAMBOO LOVE LEARNED
ABOUT MAGIC TRICKS.
SHE LEARNED THAT MAGIC TRICKS
ARE FULL OF FUN SURPRISES, AND
HAVING A FRIEND HELP YOU WITH
MAGIC TRICKS IS MAGICAL!

In animation, a heart appears with the word "Love" and children doing all kinds of recreational activities.

A caption reads "Created by Eric Hogan and Tara Hungerford."

The name of the episode reads "I love magic, featuring Talia."

Talia is around 10, with short curly brown hair and wears black leggings and a white T-shirt.

She makes a heart with her hands and says MY NAME IS TALIA,
AND I LOVE MAKING MAGIC.
THAT'S WHY I INVENTED
THE BIG-INATOR.
I'M 6 YEARS OLD,
AND I AM GREAT
AT MAKING SMALL THINGS BIG.
I CAN MAKE A REGULAR BANANA...
INTO A BIG BANANA.

She tosses a regular banana into the Big-inator and a huge banana comes out.

She says AND I CAN ALSO TURN
A WATER BOTTLE
INTO A MASSIVE WATER BOTTLE.
I CAN MAKE A SMALL TEDDY BEAR
A BIG TEDDY BEAR.
I CAN EVEN TURN A KLEENEX
INTO A MASSIVE PIECE OF KLEENEX.
SOMETIMES, I LIKE TO TURN
A REGULAR CRAYON
INTO A HUGE CRAYON.
I CAN EVEN MAKE MYSELF
A LOT BIGGER.

She goes in the big-inator and her mom comes out.

Talia says I MADE THIS BIG-INATOR
WITH MY MOM, AND MY DAD,
AND MY BROTHER.
IT'S BASICALLY
A BIG FAMILY PROJECT
TO MAKE SMALL THINGS TURN BIG.
WE HAVE SO MUCH FUN.

Talia and her mom bows.

Talia says I PRACTICE ALL THE TIME.
IT'S PRETTY AMAZING,
AND IT'S A LOT OF FUN.
I JUST LOVE MAGIC.
I HOPE YOU LOVE IT, TOO.

In animation, colourful building blocks with faces, arms, legs, and numbers floating above their heads, run and jump and sing a song.

Number 1 is red and made out of one building block, with only one eye.

Number 2 is orange, made out of 2 building blocks and wears glasses.

Number 3 is yellow, made out of 3 building blocks and wears a crown.

Number 4 is green and made out of 4 blocks forming a square.

Number 5 is blue, made out of 5 blocks and wears one big glove on the left hand and a star around the right eye.

They sing a song that says ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE
NUMBERBLOCKS
ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE
NUMBERBLOCKS
ONE AND ANOTHER ONE IS TWO

A Number 1 jumps on top of another Number one and transforms into a Number 2.

The song continues AND ANOTHER ONE IS ME
THAT'S THREE

Another 1 jumps on top and they transform into Number 3.

The song continues FIVE, FOUR, THREE, TWO, ONE,
TIME FOR SOME NUMBER FUN
YOU CAN COUNT ON US
WE'RE THE NUMBERBLOCKS

The name of the shows reads "Number Blocks."

The number blocks visit a castle.

Ten says AND NEXT, I'LL SHOW YOU THE
LONG GALLERY.
KEEP UP, EVERYONE!

One spots a door and goes down into the basement.

One says OH.
WHAT'S THROUGH THERE?
AH!
(shimmering sound)
AAH!
OH, IT'S A MAGIC MIRROR.
HELLO!

One looks into a mirror and says OOPS, I'VE MADE TWO LOTS OF ME.

One says HA!

Two ones turn into a two.

Two says MAKING FRIENDS IS FUN!
OH, LET'S MAKE THREE NEXT.

One says OH, MIRROR, MIRROR, HEAR MY
PLEA.
I WISH YOU COULD MAKE THREE OF
ME.

Another One says YOUR WISH IS MY COMMAND.

Two and one WOW!

Three ones say THREE LOTS OF ONE!
ONE PLUS ONE PLUS ONE EQUALS...

Three says THREE!

Two says MY TURN, MY TURN!
TWO LOTS, PLEASE.

Two twos say TWO LOTS OF TWO!
TWO PLUS TWO EQUALS...

Four says FOUR!
I'M FOUR, I'M...

Two twos say TWO LOTS OF TWO.
THE TERRIBLE TWOS.
(snickering)
(clearing throat)

One says AHA!
THE MAGIC MIRROR IS EVEN MORE
MAGICAL THAN WE THOUGHT.
OH, THE OTHERS WILL WANT TO SEE
THIS.
KEEP AN EYE ON IT WHILE I'M
AWAY, AND DON'T MESS AROUND WITH
IT.

One leaves.

Three says RIGHT, MY TURN!

Two says ONE SAID NOT TO.

Three says OH, GO ON.
IT'S ONLY FAIR.
TWO LOTS, PLEASE!

The numbers keep duplicating and turning into the sum of them.

Two threes say TWO LOTS OF THREE...

Six says IS SIX!
NUMBER SIX IS ON THE FLOOR.
DON'T BE SHY, LET'S HAVE SOME
MORE.

Three says GOOD IDEA.
THREE LOTS, PLEASE!

Three threes say THREE LOTS OF THREE...

Nine says IS NINE!
I'M THREE THREES, SEE?

Two says UM, WE SHOULD PROBABLY STOP
NOW.

Three says BUT LOOK, THERE'S SO MANY OF
US HERE ALREADY.
WON'T ONE BE SURPRISED IF SHE
COMES BACK AND EVERYONE'S HERE?
ALL RIGHT THEN, WE'VE GOT TWO,
THREE, FOUR, THEN SIX.

Four says OH NO, WE'RE MISSING FIVE.

Three says HOW MANY LOTS OF WHO IS FIVE?
HMM, LET'S TRY... YOU!

Two says OH!

Three says THREE LOTS, PLEASE.

Three twos say THREE LOTS OF TWO...

Six says IS SIX!
NUMBER SIX IS ON THE FLOOR.
WAIT, HAVE I SAID THAT BEFORE?

Two threes say TWO LOTS OF THREE.

Three twos say THREE LOTS OF TWO.

(laughing)
(cheering)

Three says HMM, I WAS HOPING FOR A FIVE.

Four says MAYBE I CAN HELP.

Two says NO!

Four says TWO LOTS, PLEASE.

Two says OOH...

Two fours say TWO LOTS OF FOUR...

Eight says IS EIGHT!

Three says NO, NO, NO, WE NEED A FIVE.
AND WE'RE MISSING SEVEN AND TEN.
WHO WANTS TO TRY NEXT?

Two says OH!

Outside, One says IT'S A BIG SURPRISE!

Numbers say OH!

Five twos say FIVE LOTS OF TWO...

Ten says IS TEN!

Three says THAT'S TEN SORTED.
ALL WE NEED NOW IS FIVE AND
SEVEN.
NEXT!

One says GET READY FOR A REALLY BIG
SURPRISE.
HUH?

Two blocks the door so that One cannot enter.

Two says OOH, ONE'S COMING!
HIDE!

A number says WHY CAN'T WE MAKE FIVE AND
SEVEN?

Two says AH!

Four says WHOA!

One and the rest of the numbers finally get in.

One says THERE, SURPRI-- OH!

Three says A MAGIC MIRROR?
SOME BIG SURPRISE.

One says AH, BUT WHAT IF I SAID I
COULD MAKE LOTS OF NUMBER BLOCKS
APPEAR ALL AT ONCE?

Ten says NOW, THAT WOULD BE A...

The other numberblocks pop out of a cabinet.

Another three says SURPRISE!

Music plays as the end credits roll.
