I LOVE TO PLAY WITH MY DOLLS.

She puts one of her Barbie dolls in the doll house and says MY FAVOURITE ONE IS THIS ONE.
SOMETIMES SHE GETS THE ELEVATOR.

AT MY MOM'S HOUSE,
I'M THE ONLY CHILD.
MY DAD'S HOUSE IS REALLY
DIFFERENT.
THE BEST THING IS I MOSTLY GET

AND IT'S REALLY FUN.

Marley says ZOE?

Zoe says YEAH?

Marley says JUST WAIT FOR IT TO DRY.

The girls show their painted nails and say GLAM SQUAD!

Zoe says IT'S REALLY FUN HAVING TWO HOMES
BECAUSE, ONE,
I GET TO SPEND TIME WITH MY MOM
AND HAVE FUN WITH MY MOM,
BUT THEN AT MY DAD'S HOUSE,
IT'S LIKE I GET A PLAY DATE.

Zoe does cartwheels on the backyard and says AH-HAH!
(GRUNTING)

She says YOU GET TWICE THE PRESENTS,
TWICE THE TOYS.
TWICE... MOSTLY EVERYTHING.
(LAUGHING)
I LOVE MY FAMILY BECAUSE THEY'RE
SPECIAL IN THEIR OWN WAY,
AND EACH ONE OF THEM IS
DIFFERENT.

ABOUT MY HOME AND MY LIFE!
PEACE!

The entire family says BYE!

The end credits roll.

Zoe says THIS IS MY DOG, BENNY.

Zariah says HI!

Marley makes a scrapping noise.

Zoe says SOUNDS LIKE IT FARTED.

The show ends.

Back to Teacher Rabia, she says WOW! I LOVED WATCHING
THOSE VIDEOS.
I LEARNED ABOUT SO MANY
DIFFERENT TYPES OF FAMILIES.
IN KATE AND ZACH'S FAMILY,
WE SAY HOW THESE TWO SIBLINGS
WORK TOGETHER
AND HELP EACH OTHER,
AND IT LOOKED LIKE THEY HAVE
SUCH A GREAT TIME
PLAYING TOGETHER AND REALLY
HELPING EACH OTHER OUT.
IN ZOE'S FAMILY, WE LEARNED THAT
SHE HAS TWO HOMES,
AND THIS IS SO COOL
AND EXCITING!
SHE TALKED ABOUT HOW SHE LOVES
COOKING WITH HER DAD,
AND HOW SHE LOVES READING WITH
HER MOM AND WATCHING MOVIES.
THERE'S SO MANY DIFFERENT TYPES
OF FAMILIES,
AND WHEN WE LEARN ABOUT
DIFFERENT TYPES OF FAMILIES,
WE CAN REALLY BUILD A LOT MORE
UNDERSTANDING
AND A LOT MORE RESPECT
FOR EVERYONE.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE THINGS
THAT YOU LIKE DOING
WITH YOUR FAMILY?
WE'RE GOING TO WATCH ANOTHER
VIDEO WITH YOUSAF,
AND WE'RE GOING TO SEE WHAT
HE LIKES TO DO WITH HIS FAMILY,
AND THEN WE'LL COME BACK HERE.

Yousaf is around 11, with short straight brown hair and wears jeans and a striped blue sweater.

Yousaf says MEET MY FAMILY!
THIS IS MY DAD.

Dad has short wavy brown hair and wears jeans and a blue, black, and gray T-shirt.

Yousaf says AND ME, YOUSAF!

The name of the show reads "This is my family."

Yousaf says WE LIVE IN A TOWNHOUSE.
MY DAD AND MOM ARE BORN
IN AFGHANISTAN.
AT HOME WE SPEAK
THE LANGUAGE PASHTO.
(SPEAKING PASHTO)
MY DAD HASN'T PLAYED MONOPOLY,
SO WE'RE TEACHING HIM TODAY... TO COLLECT FOR 1.5 MIL.
(BEEPING)
I LIKE TO PLAY BOARD GAMES
WITH MY FAMILY,
AND I LIKE TO WIN!
YAY, I JUST WON THE GAME!

Aisha shows him something on her tablet and says YOU MEAN THIS?

Yousaf says THIS IS MY FAMILY HAVING FUN.
THE NAME OF MY BIRD IS MITU.
MITU LIKES TO EAT PIZZA
AND OTHER STUFF.
TODAY WE'RE MAKING PIZZAS.
THIS PIZZA IS VERY DELICIOUS.
AFTER WE EAT, WE HAVE A PRAYER
CALLED "DU'A."
NOW YOU'VE MET MY FAMILY! BYE!

Teacher Rabia says WOW, THAT WAS EXCELLENT!
I LOVED LOOKING AND LEARNING
ABOUT YOUSAF'S FAMILY.
I LOVED HOW HE PLAYS BOARD GAMES
WITH HIS FAMILY
AND ALSO MAKES PIZZA.
THOSE ARE TWO
OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS!
IS THAT SOMETHING
YOU LOVE TO DO?
WHENEVER I'M THINKING ABOUT
THE THINGS I LOVE TO DO
WITH MY FAMILY, I ALWAYS USING
THIS PLANNING SHEET.

A planning sheet with 3 columns appears. The columns are labeled "Memory," "Description," and "Rough drawing."

Teacher Rabia says AND THIS IS SUCH A GREAT WAY TO
ORGANIZE SOME OF OUR MEMORIES.
THERE'S THREE DIFFERENT
SECTIONS,
SO THERE IS A MEMORY SECTION
WHERE YOU GET TO THINK
ABOUT THE MEMORY THAT YOU WANT
TO WRITE ABOUT OR DRAW ABOUT.
THEN THERE IS A DESCRIPTION
SENTENCE SECTION,
WHERE WE CAN WRITE-- WE CAN
ELABORATE A LITTLE BIT MORE
ABOUT WHAT OUR MEMORY WAS LIKE.
AND THERE'S ALSO
A ROUGH DRAWING SECTION,
WHERE WE CAN KIND OF DRAW
A LITTLE BIT OF THE MEMORY
SO THAT WE CAN REMEMBER
WHAT IT'S LIKE.
I'M GOING TO SHOW YOU, AND
GO THROUGH SOME OF THE MEMORIES
THAT I HAVE OF MY FAMILY,
AND LET'S GET STARTED NOW.
OKAY, WOW, SO LET'S GET STARTED
ON OUR PLANNING SHEET.
NOW I HAVE THREE MEMORIES
THAT I WANT TO SHARE TODAY,
SO, HMM, YOU KNOW, I REALLY LOVE
READING BOOKS WITH MY NIECE.
SO I'M GOING TO SAY,
"READING BOOKS
"WITH MY NIECE."
AND THIS IS JUST
A PLANNING SHEET
SO WE'RE JUST GOING TO TRY TO
GET ALL OF OUR IDEAS DOWN
AS BEST AS WE CAN.
AND I'M JUST GOING TO WRITE
MY DESCRIPTION,
"I LIKE READING...
"WITH MY NIECE."
THAT HELPS ME REMEMBER THE
MEMORY THAT I'M WRITING ABOUT.
AND THEN I'M JUST GONNA
GO AHEAD AND DO A ROUGH DRAWING.
THIS IS JUST A ROUGH DRAWING,
SO I'M GOING TO DO MY BEST
TO DRAW A PICTURE OF ME,
AND MY NIECE IS THREE YEARS OLD,
SO SHE JUST REALLY
LOVES READING,
AND A LOT OF THE TIMES,
WE LOVE READING ON A CARPET
THAT SHE HAS.
AND I'M JUST GOING TO DRAW
A PICTURE OF MYSELF OVER HERE.
THIS DOESN'T HAVE TO BE PERFECT,
IT'S JUST LIKE A ROUGH DRAFT.
SO JUST TRY TO GET, YOU KNOW,
YOUR MAIN IDEA DOWN.
IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE PERFECT.
AND THEN, OH...
OF COURSE I'M GOING TO HAVE SOME
BOOKS OVER HERE,
BECAUSE WE...
WE OFTEN TRY TO READ ONE,
BUT THEN OF COURSE,
SINCE WE LOVE READING SO MUCH,
WE READ SO MANY BOOKS TOGETHER.
AND I'M GONNA DRAW HER.
SHE'S STILL TINY,
SHE'S THREE YEARS OLD.
SHE HAS THIS HAIR OVER HERE,
AND SHE OFTEN SMILES,
SO I'M GOING TO PUT HER DOWN
LIKE THAT.
AND THERE IS A BOOK OVER HERE
THAT WE ARE SHARING.
THERE, THAT'S MY FIRST MEMORY!
HMM, I ALSO HAVE ANOTHER
REALLY GREAT MEMORY.
I LOVE COOKING WITH MY MOM,
SO I'M GOING TO PUT DOWN
"COOKING WITH MY MOM."
AND I'M GOING TO SAY,
"I LIKE MAKING PASTA."
PASTA IS SO YUMMY.
"I LIKE MAKING PASTA
"WITH MY MOM."
AND THERE IS MY DESCRIPTION,
AND ONCE AGAIN,
I'M GONNA GO TO
MY ROUGH DRAWING.
I'M GONNA PUT A PASTA BOX
OVER HERE,
AND WE'RE GONNA BE IN
THE KITCHEN IN THIS PICTURE.
OKAY, SO THERE I AM.
AND THERE'S MY GLASSES.
OH, I THINK I FORGOT MY GLASSES
IN THE LAST PICTURE,
LET ME JUST GO THERE
AND ADD THOSE.
OOPS, OKAY. SO THERE I AM.
THERE I AM IN THE KITCHEN
WITH MY MOM.
WE ALWAYS HAVE A LOT OF FUN
IN THE KITCHEN
'CAUSE WE SHARE SO MANY
DIFFERENT STORIES.
SHE IS SUCH A GOOD COOK,
AND SHE TEACHES ME
HOW TO MAKE PAKISTANI FOOD,
AND ALL TYPES OF DIFFERENT
TYPES OF FOOD.
AND THERE WE ARE,
AND SHE'S USUALLY THERE.
SHE'S SUCH A GOOD COOK, SHE
DOESN'T EVEN NEED A RECIPE BOOK.
SHE HAS IT ALL INSIDE HER BRAIN.
AND THERE WE ARE, WE'RE MAKING
PASTA IN THIS PICTURE.
JUST A ROUGH DRAWING, SO WE'RE
GONNA JUST TRY OUR BEST.
AND I HAVE ONE OTHER MEMORY
THAT I WANT TO WRITE
IN MY LAST SECTION,
AND MY MEMORY IS SHOPPING WITH
MY MOM, WITH MY SISTER.
I KNOW OUR LIFE HAS BEEN A
LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT
BECAUSE WE CAN'T GO SHOPPING AS
MUCH ANYMORE, RIGHT?
BUT I LIKE TO THINK BACK
TO THE MEMORY
WHEN WE USED TO GO SHOPPING,
AND IT WAS SO MUCH FUN.
AND MY DESCRIPTION
IS GOING TO BE
"I LIKE TO GO...
"SHOPPING WITH
"MY SISTER."
THERE IS MY DESCRIPTION,
AND I'M GOING TO DRAW
A LITTLE ROUGH DRAWING,
AND I'M GOING TO DRAW THE MALL.
WE LOVE TO GO TO THE MALL.
AND OF COURSE,
THERE'S MY SISTER.
MY SISTER HAS LONG HAIR,
AND SHE SMILES A LOT AS WELL.
AND THERE'S...
THERE SHE IS. AND OF COURSE,
GUESS WHAT'S IN HER HAND?
SHOPPING BAGS!
THERE'S ONE HERE, AND ONE HERE.
I CAN'T WAIT TO GO SHOPPING
WITH MY SISTER AGAIN.
I'M GONNA DRAW MYSELF.
THERE'S MY GLASSES.
THERE YOU GO.
AND OF COURSE I HAVE SOME
SHOPPING BAGS,
AND I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE BOOKS.
AND MAYBE THIS IS A BAG
OF BOOKS.
THERE! THERE WE HAVE IT, THERE'S
THREE DIFFERENT MEMORIES
OF THINGS AND ACTIVITIES THAT I
LIKE TO DO WITH MY FAMILY.
SO I'M GONNA TURN IT AROUND.
THERE!
NOW LET'S CHECK TO SEE WHAT
NATALYA AND ADRIANA
ARE UP TO IN
RAVEN'S QUEST.

The narrator says MEET ADRIANA AND NATALYA!

The girls frost cookies and eat them.

The narrator says THEY EAT THEIR TASTY ARTWORK.
THEY'VE GOT THE BEST BACKYARD.

The girls slide down a snow covered slope.

(SHRIEKING)

The narrator says THEY'LL SHOW YOU HOW TO MAKE
A CEDAR BRACELET.
AND TAKE YOU SNOWBOARDING
DOWN A HUGE HILL.

A man says YOU'RE DOING IT!

The narrator says LET'S GO!

(music plays)

In animation, pictures of several different kids appear hanging on laundry lines. A raven on the lines flies off to the sun and opens his wings as the title of the show appears. It reads "Raven's Quest."

(SPEAKING UCWALMÍCWTS)

Adriana says KALHWA'ACW.

Natalia says HELLO!
I'M NATALYA,
AND I'M EIGHT YEARS OLD.

Natalya says AND WE'RE FROM
THE LILLOOET NATION.

Adriana says WE LIVE IN MOUNT CURRIE,
BRITISH COLUMBIA!

A map shows the Canadian provinces. It zooms in on Mount Currie, B.C.

Adriana says MY TRADITIONAL NAME
IS TS'EXYATSEN,
IT STANDS FOR "MINK."
IN OUR LANGUAGE.

Natalya says MY TRADITIONAL NAME IS SKIL',
IT MEANS "ROCK RABBIT."
IN OUR TRADITIONAL LANGUAGE.

They both say THIS IS OUR HOUSE, COME ON IN!
(MAKING WHIRRING NOISES)

Adriana rolls into her room riding a boosted board and says SWOOOSH!
HI! THIS IS MY ROOM.

Natalya says HEY, THIS IS MY ROOM, TOO.

Adriana says SO ME AND TALYA HAD SEPARATE
BEDROOMS BEFORE,
BUT WE MISSED EACH OTHER,
SO OUR PARENTS GAVE US
THE MASTER BEDROOM.

Natalya says THIS IS MY STUFFED ANIMAL.
HIS NAME IS CALLED FUZZY.
WE MADE IT FROM SOAP, WATER,
A SPRAY BOTTLE...

They both say AND WE PUT IT IN THE WASHER
AND DRYER FOR TWO HOURS.

Adriana says SO THIS IS MY GUITAR,
I GOT IT FOR MY TENTH BIRTHDAY,
AND I'M GONNA BE SHOWING YOU
GUYS THE E-MINOR CHORD.
CAN YOU SEE MY FINGERS,
HOW THEY'RE LIKE THIS?
YOU'RE GONNA BE LIKE...
(STRUMMING GENTLY)
IT SAYS MY MIDDLE NAME, RAINE.
R-A-I-N-E.
I ALSO HAVE RAINE
ON MY BRACELET.
I MADE IT WHILE WE WERE
AT SUMMER CAMP.

Natalya says SO WE'D LIKE TO SHOW YOU
OUR DREAM CATCHER.
IT HELPS SO WE DON'T GET
ANY BAD DREAMS.
(BABY BABBLING)

In the kitchen, Adrianna holds a baby girl and Natalya points at her mom and says THIS IS MY MOM.

Mom says HI.

Adriana says THIS IS MY LITTLE SISTER,
DEMITRA.
TODAY WE ARE MAKING COOKIES
AND CUPCAKES!
I LIKE DECORATING CUPCAKES
AND COOKIES
'CAUSE IT'S A PIECE OF ART.
TAH-DAH!

Natalya says AFTER WE DECORATE THEM,
THEY TASTE REALLY YUMMY.
I'M MAKING A PARTY CUPCAKE.
I DECORATE THEM BY DOING
ANIMALS,
AND I ALSO LIKE DOING EMOJIS.

Adriana says WHAT I LIKE ABOUT MY SISTER
IS THAT SHE IS ALWAYS EXCITED
ABOUT STUFF.

Natalya says I'M ALL DONE!
I PUT LOTS OF ICING,
AND I PUT MY CANDIES.

They eat the cookies.

Adriana says MMM!

Natalya says THAT'S DELICIOUS.

Outside, Adriana says HEY, I LIKE THE SNOW.
YOU CAN MAKE SNOWBALLS,
SNOW FORTS, SNOW MEN.
BUT HEY, LOOK WHAT WE FOUND!
WE FOUND A DOUGLAS FIR TREE.
WHAT IS THAT IN UCWALMÍCWTS?
(SPEAKING UCWALMÍCWTS)

Natalya says SREP7UL.

Adriana says THE NAME OF MY LANGUAGE
IS UCWALMÍCWTS.

DOUGLAS FIR TREE
IN OUR UCWALMÍCWTS LANGUAGE.
"SHREP-OOL."

They both say SHREP... OOL.

Adriana says WE FOUND SREP7UL RIGHT THERE.

Natalya says I CAN'T EVEN SEE
THE TOP OF THE TREE.

Adriana says THIS IS A DOUGLAS FIR TREE.
IT CAN GROW UP TO ONE HUNDRED
METRES TALL.
IT'S REALLY SPECIAL
FOR OUR COMMUNITY.
OUR ANCESTORS BELIEVE
WHEN IT GREW TO ITS FULLEST,
WE ARE CLOSER TO THE CREATOR.

Natalya says THIS IS OUR ALPHABET CHART.
OUR ALPHABET CHART HAS 48
LETTERS IN IT.

Adriana says SO WE ARE GOING TO RECITE IT
FOR YOU GUYS.

They both say AHH. AY. EE. AH.
AY. OOH. AH.

Adriana says THIS ALPHABET IS DIFFERENT
THAN THE ENGLISH ALPHABET
'CAUSE IT'S NOT
IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER.
BUT THERE'S ALSO A NUMBER
IN THERE.
THE NUMBER 7.
THIS IS THE LETTER,
IT'S ACTUALLY A NUMBER.
IT'S PRONOUNCED "OO-U,"
'CAUSE, LIKE, YOU CAN HEAR THE
CATCH IN THE THROAT.
(CONTINUING WITH PRONUNCIATION)
(CONTINUING)

Adriana says WE'RE MAKING CEDAR BRACELETS,
AND WE NEED THREE ITEMS
TO DO THAT.
WE NEED...

Natalya says A PEG.
WATER, AND CEDAR.

Adriana says WE JUST NEED TO GRAB
A PIECE OF CEDAR,
AND THEN YOU WRAP IT
AROUND THE PEG,
AND MAKE SURE IT'S EVENLY
WRAPPED AROUND.
AND THEN YOU PUT IT OVER
YOUR LEFT ONE,
AND THEN YOU GRAB THAT ONE,
AND IT'S NOW YOUR RIGHT.
AND THEN YOU KEEP DOING THAT
UNTIL YOU GET TO THE END.
IN OUR LILLOOET CULTURE,
WEAVING IS ONE OF OUR
OLDEST ART FORMS.
WHEN YOU GET TO THE END...

Natalya says WE GOT TO TIE IT UP, AND THEN
YOU HAVE A CEDAR BRACELET.

At a gym, a martial art instructor says WELCOME, EVERYONE.

Adriana says WE COME HERE TO DO MARTIAL ARTS.

Natalya says CAN YOU GUESS WHICH ONE?

They both say JIU-JITSU!

Adriana says I LIKE TAKING JIU-JITSU CLASSES
'CAUSE I LIKE TO PROTECT MYSELF.

Trainer Marco says OSU!

Students say OSU!

Marco says OKAY, SAME PARTNERS,
LET'S HAVE SOME FUN.
(GRUNTING)

Adriana says THE SPIDER GUARD IS SOMETHING
THAT YOU USE YOUR OPPONENT
TO STAY AWAY FROM YOUR FACE,
AND FROM ATTACKING YOU.

Marco says SPIDER, ONE, TWO, THREE!
THAT'S AMAZING,
LET'S DO IT AGAIN, RESET.

Natalya says MY FAVOURITE JIU-JITSU MOVE
IS AIRPLANE MODE.
AIRPLANE MODE IS WHEN
YOU HOP OVER SOMEBODY
AND YOU, BASICALLY LIKE AN
AIRPLANE.

Marco says THAT WAS AWESOME.

Adriana meets her friends outside and says MEET MY FRIENDS, THE H-BABIES!
ALL OF OUR NAMES START
WITH THE LETTER H.

She points at the boy on her right and says HUNTER.

Hunter says HI!

Adriana says HAYDEN.

Hayden says HI.

Adriana says HANNAH!

GO SUPER-DUPER FAST,
AND WE MAKE, LIKE, A LITTLE JUMP
FOR US TO GO ON.
(SHRIEKING)

The sisters say OUR FAVOURITE SPORT IS
SNOWBOARDING!

Adriana says RIGHT NOW, ME AND NATALYA
ARE ON THE WHISTLER MOUNTAIN,
AND WE ARE BOTH ON THE
FIRST NATIONS SNOWBOARD TEAM!

Natalya says UNCLE LOGAN IS TEACHING US HOW
TO SNOWBOARD RIGHT NOW.
I'M READY!
SNOWBOARDING MAKES ME FEEL
REALLY COOL.

Logan says YOU DID IT!

Adriana says THE THING THAT I'M PROUD OF
IS THE TURNS.
WHEN YOU FALL, YOU JUST SHAKE IT
OFF AND GET BACK UP.

Adriana says I HOPE YOU HAD FUN
WITH US TODAY!
(SPEAKING UCWALMÍCWTS)

Natalya says HU'MALH.
GOODBYE!

Adriana says BYE!

The show ends.

Teacher Rabia says IT WAS SO COOL TO LEARN
HOW THE GIRLS IN THE VIDEO
MAKE CUPCAKES,
AND ALSO TAUGHT US SOME WORDS
IN THEIR LANGUAGES!
THAT WAS SO COOL! THERE'S SO
MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF FAMILIES
AND THEY DO SO MANY AWESOME
THINGS TOGETHER.
AND WE CAN REALLY SEE
ALL OF THE LOVE AND CARE
THAT THEY SHOW EACH OTHER.
THAT WAS SO LOVELY TO SEE.
WE'RE GOING TO MOVE ON
TO OUR SEQUENCE STORY,
SO WE'RE GOING TO CHOOSE ONE
MEMORY FROM OUR PLANNING SHEET
AND THEN WE'RE GOING TO TELL
THE WHOLE STORY.
WE'RE GOING TO MAKE THREE
PICTURES TO TELL
WHAT HAPPENS FIRST,
WHAT HAPPENS IN THE MIDDLE,
AND WHAT HAPPENS AT THE END.
SO I'M GONNA TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT
THE THREE MEMORIES
THAT I HAVE AND I'VE PLANNED,
AND I'M GOING TO CHOOSE ONE
MEMORY FROM THAT,
AND I'M GOING TO TELL THE
COMPLETE STORY.
HM, THERE'S SO MANY GOOD
MEMORIES THAT I HAVE HERE.
WHICH ONE AM I GOING TO CHOOSE
TO TELL THE WHOLE PICTURE,
AND THE WHOLE STORY?
IS IT GONNA BE READING BOOKS
WITH MY NIECE,
COOKING WITH MY MOM,
OR SHOPPING WITH MY SISTER?
ALL OF THESE ARE SUCH
GREAT MEMORIES,
BUT I THINK I'M GONNA CHOOSE
READING BOOKS WITH MY NIECE.
SO THAT'S THE MEMORY THAT I'VE
CHOSEN FROM MY PLANNING SHEET.
AND I'M GOING TO TAKE THREE
PIECES OF PAPER,
AND I'M GOING TO TALK ABOUT
WHAT HAPPENS FIRST
WHEN WE'RE READING A BOOK
TOGETHER,
WHAT HAPPENS IN THE MIDDLE,
AND WHAT HAPPENS AT THE END,
I'M REALLY EXCITED TO SHOW YOU
THE PICTURES I'VE DRAWN,
SO THIS IS STEP ONE
IN MY MEMORY.
STEP ONE IS USUALLY
WHEN WE GO TO OUR BOOKSHELF,
WE CHOOSE A COUPLE OF BOOKS.
WE HAVE LOTS OF DIFFERENT
TYPES OF BOOKS.
SO WE CHOOSE A COUPLE OF BOOKS,
AND LOOK AT OUR SMILING FACES.
THERE'S OUR BOOKSHELF
WITH LOTS OF BOOKS.
AND WE USUALLY THINK ABOUT
WHAT WE WANT TO READ
AND HOW MANY BOOKS
WE WANT TO READ.
SO THIS IS A REALLY
IMPORTANT TIME
WHEN WE'RE CHOOSING THE TYPES
OF BOOKS.
AND SO THAT'S STEP ONE,
SO I'M JUST GOING TO WRITE A
SENTENCE TO DESCRIBE MY PICTURE.
AND I'M GOING TO SAY FIRST,
WE CHOOSE A BOOK...
FROM OUR BOOKSHELF.
THERE WE GO.
AND I WANT TO SHOW YOU MY
SENTENCE, SO I'VE WRITTEN,
"FIRST WE CHOOSE A BOOK
FROM OUR BOOKSHELF."
THIS IS SUCH AN IMPORTANT PART.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
LET ME SHOW YOU THE PICTURE.
HERE IS THE BOOKS THAT
WE'VE CHOSEN,
SO IF YOU CAN SEE THE PICTURE,
I'M CARRYING, LIKE, FIVE BOOKS,
AND MY NIECE IS CARRYING ONE.
LET'S WRITE A SENTENCE TO
DESCRIBE THIS PICTURE.
SO I'M GOING TO SAY,
"THEN WE CHOOSE
"OUR BOOKS."
AND WE LIKE TO READ
ALL TYPES OF BOOKS
OF ALL TYPES OF GENRES
WITH ALL TYPES OF CHARACTERS.
SO THERE IS OUR SENTENCE
OVER HERE.
IT SAYS, "THEN WE CHOOSE
OUR BOOKS."
AND LOOK, WE HAVE SOME
BOOKS IN MY HAND
AND I'M WEARING A FLOWERY DRESS,
WHICH I LOVE,
AND THERE SHE IS WITH A BIG
SMILE ON HER FACE
AND SHE'S HOLDING ON BOOK.
SO THAT'S THE SECOND PART
OF OUR STORY.
AND THEN WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
IS SHOWING IN THIS PICTURE.
AND THIS IS WHEN WE'RE SITTING
DOWN ON A COMFORTABLE SPOT
AND WE START TO OPEN
THOSE BOOKS,
AND WE START TO READ OUR BOOKS.
SO I'M GOING TO WRITE
A SENTENCE DOWN.
I'M GONNA SAY,
"THEN WE FIND
A COMFORTABLE SPOT--."SPOT TO READ."
AND THERE IS OUR SENTENCE
OVER HERE!
"THEN WE FIND
A COMFORTABLE SPOT TO READ."
I WONDER WHAT MEMORY YOU'VE
CHOSEN TO TELL ME MORE ABOUT.
THERE ARE SO MANY AWESOME
MEMORIES THAT WE CAN HAVE
WITH OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
I REALLY LIKED SPENDING TIME
WITH MY FAMILY.
SO THERE ARE MY THREE PICTURES,
AND THIS IS THE MEMORY
I WANTED TO SHARE.
NOW WE'RE GOING TO GO AND LOOK
AT ANOTHER FAMILY.

Kevin sits on the couch with his dad and grandpa.

Kevin is around 10, with curly brown hair and wears neon green trousers and a camouflage T-shirt.

Dad has short graying hair and wears jeans and a printed black T-shirt.

CUTTING HAIR
THE WAY THAT I LIKE IT.

Dad cuts his hair and says WELL THAT LOOKS BETTER,
LET ME SEE HOW YOU LOOK.

Kevin says HE GIVES ME GREAT TIPS.

Dad says VERY HANDSOME.

Kevin says DO YOU LIKE BEING IN GOAL?

Grandpa says I DO.

Kevin says MY PÈRE IS REALLY ORGANIZED.

Grandpa says CAN YOU GET IT ALL IN THERE?

Kevin says HE ALWAYS HELPS ME GET READY

Grandpa says PRESS DOWN.

Kevin says FRIDAYS ARE FIESTA NIGHTS.
WE LIKE TO MAKE TACOS,
NACHOS, AND DIP.
I AM REALLY EXCITED 'CAUSE
WE'RE ADOPTING A SISTER FOR ME.

He reads a story book in his room and says ONCE UPON A TIME...
I CAN'T WAIT TO READ STORIES
WITH HER.
(LAUGHING)
MY FAMILY LOVES TO PLAY
OUTSIDE TOGETHER.

Kevin, Dad, and Grandpa throw snow at one another.

Grandpa says AHHH!

Kevin says IT'S COLD BUT FUN.
(LAUGHING)

Kevin says WE ALSO LIKE TO STAY WARM.

He gets close to the fireplace, rubs his hands and says OOH, THAT'S WARM!
AND WATCH THE FIRE TOGETHER.

Dad says LET'S GO SIT DOWN.

Kevin says YEAH.

Grandpa says LET'S CUDDLE UP.

Kevin says I LOVE MY FAMILY.

The boys cuddle in the sofa.

Dad says OHHH! OH, GOSH!

Kevin says NOW YOU MET MY FAMILY!
BYE!

Dad says BYE!

Grandpa says BYE!

Another episode rolls.

Gabriella says MEET MY FAMILY!
THIS IS MY MOM.

Mom has long straight reddish brown hair and wears glasses, a white tank top and a purple plaid shirt.

Gabriella says AND ME, GABRIELLA.

Gabriella is around 11, with long straight brown hair and wears a green and gray striped shirt.

The name of the show reads "This is my family."

Gabriella says I LIVE IN AN APARTMENT BUILDING.
THIS IS MY APARTMENT BUILDING!
I LOVE MAKING JEWELRY WITH MY
MOM BECAUSE IT'S REALLY FUN,
AND TODAY WE'RE MAKING EARRINGS.
WE ALSO LOVE TO DO SCIENCE

Mom says WHY IS IT GONNA BE A LIQUID
WHEN IT'S IN THERE?

Gabriella says BECAUSE IT'S...
TODAY WE'RE GONNA
MAKE A BALL.
THAT'S COOL IT MADE
THAT STRIPE.
I LOVE LOOKING AT ROCKS
WITH MY MOM,
AND WE GOT THESE ROCKS
FROM MY COTTAGE.

On the street, Gabriella says HI, THIS IS ME CELEBRATING
CANADA'S GOLD MEDAL
AT THE OLYMPICS!

Gabriella says THESE ARE SOME VIDEOS
OF MY FAMILY.
THIS IS MY FAMILY HAVING FUN.

Videos show people in costumes dancing and chanting.

Gabriella says TOMORROW I'M GOING TO GO
TO MY CHURCH,
AND WE'RE GOING TO GO
TO A BIG FESTIVAL, CARNIVAL.
(ENTHUSIASTIC SINGING)

Gabriella says AND WE'RE GONNA WEAR COSTUMES
AND DANCE
AND JUST HAVE FUN.
(LAUGHING)

Gabriella says I LOVE TO SNUGGLE UP WITH MY
MOM AND WATCH MOVIES.
MY MOM IS THE COOLEST.
AND NOW YOU'VE MET MY FAMILY.

Gabriella and her mom say BYE!

Now an episode of the animated show "Ollie and Moon" rolls.

A caption reads "Cottonwood Media presents, in association with Sprout and Francetélévisions."

(music plays)

In animation, 2 6-year-old, next-door-neighbour cats meet on the sidewalk and hug. Ollie is yellow and wears a black and blue striped T-shirt. Moon is cream with brown stripes and wears a black skirt and a coral T-shirt.

The song says LET'S GO REAL FAR
I SHOULD PACK
MY BAG FIRST
WE'VE GOT SO
MUCH TO SEE

Ollie and Moon get on a cab, go to the airport, get on a plane, parachute and land in a bird nest on top of a palm tree.

The caption changes to "Based on the original books by Diane Kredensor."

The song continues IF YOU REALLY WANT
AND YOU REALLY DO
I COULD GO ROUND
THE WORLD WITH YOU

Then they visit different cities in the world and return home. They run to each other and hug in front of their houses.

The song continues I'LL BE THERE FOR YOU
WHATEVER YOU DO
I'LL BE THERE
WITH YOU
OLLIE AND MOON

The caption changes to "Directed by Florian Thouret. Written by Suzanne Bolchand and John May."

The name of the show appears inside two silhouettes of cat heads. It reads "The Ollie and Moon Show."

(music plays)

The name of the episode reads "Stanley's family reunion."

At home, Moon says ARE YOU READY?
STANLEY, WHERE ARE YOU?
IT'S TIME TO GO TO YOUR FAMILY
REUNION.
OH, I CAN'T WAIT TO GO TO CANADA
AND MEET ALL YOUR SNAIL
RELATIVES FROM AROUND THE WORLD.
AND PLAY GAMES, AND...
(SNIFFING)
WHAT'S THAT SMELL?

Stanley says MY SOUP.
I THINK I BURNED IT.

Ollie says REALLY?
WOW... HOW DO YOU BURN SOUP?
ISN'T IT MADE OF WATER?
(SIGHING IN RESIGNATION)

Stanley says IT'S NO USE!
EVERY YEAR, MY FAMILY GIVES OUT
AWARDS AT THE REUNION.
AND THIS YEAR, I WAS HOPING I
COULD FINALLY WIN ONE.
BUT EVERYTHING I TRY IS A
FAILURE.
(SIGHING)
MY SOUP ISN'T EVEN CLOSE TO AS
YUMMY AS GRAMMIE'S.
TASTES LIKE BURNT GLUE.

Moon says OH, COME ON!
IT CAN'T BE THAT BAD.

Moon tastes he soup.

Ollie says BURNT GLUE?

Moon says I WISH.
(SIGHING)

Stanley says ESTELLA PAINTS BETTER THAN I
DO, TOUCHE'S A BETTER
PHOTOGRAPHER, AND COUSIN BRETT
MAY BE A TERRIBLE BAGPIPE
PLAYER, BUT HE'S STILL BETTER
THAN ME.
I GUESS I SHOULD JUST GET USED
TO GOING UNNOTICED AND
UNAPPRECIATED AT THE SNAIL
FAMILY AWARDS CEREMONY.
AGAIN!

Moon says AWW, COME ON, STANLEY.
YOU CAN WIN AN AWARD FOR
SOMETHING.
YOU HAVE ALL KINDS OF TALENTS
AND SKILLS!

Stanley says I DO?
REALLY?
LIKE WHAT?

Ollie says LIKE, ERR...

Moon says LIKE, UHH...

Ollie says SO MANY THINGS!

Moon says TOO MANY TO COUNT!

Ollie says SO... WE'LL TALK ABOUT IT
WHEN WE GET THERE!

Moon says YEP!
DON'T WANT TO BE LATE.

Ollie and Moon say TO THE REUNION!

Stanley says WHOA!

They drag Stanley and take a taxi to the airport.

[tires squealing]
[brakes screeching]

Moon says WOO!

(music plays)

Moon goes on the escalator and says WEE!

(music plays)

The plane takes off to Canada.

The flight attendant says NOW ARRIVING IN
COTTAGE COUNTRY, CANADA!
YAY!
(CHATTERING INDISTINCTLY)

At the family reunion, Ollie and Moon wave at the family and say HI, NICE TO SEE YOU
ALL AGAIN.
(GRUNTING)

A family member hugs them and says JUST LOOK AT THESE WONDERFUL
WHITTLE WUVS.
WUZZA-WUZZA-WUZZA.

Another family member says IT'S SO GOOD TO SEE-EE-EE
YOU!

A third family member says BUONGIORNO!
(LAUGHING, KISSING)
(SPEAKING INDISTINCTLY)

Ollie says WHAT DID HE JUST SAY?

Moon says I HAVE NO IDEA.
HE'S GOT TOFFEE IN HIS MOUTH
AGAIN.

Stanley says HI, EVERYBODY.

The third family member says HEY!
WHO'S UP FOR A GAME OF CARDS,
EH?

Ollie says UHH, OKAY.

The first family member says GRAB A CHAIR AND ENJOY
SOME CANADIAN NATURE.
(SIGHING)

Moon says I WOULD, BUT YOU KNOW
WHAT-- BUT...

Tina says COUSIN STANLEY!
YOU'RE HERE!

Stanley says TINA!
(LAUGHING) I COULDN'T SEE YOU
THERE.
HOP ON, KIDDO, I'LL GIVE YOU A
RIDE.

Tina says OHH, GIDDY-UP, HORSEY!

Little Tina jumps on Stanley's back and says WHEE!
(LAUGHING)

Ollie says WE HAVE A FEW MINUTES BEFORE
STANLEY CATCHES UP TO US.
NOW, HOW ARE WE GONNA WIN HIM
AN AWARD?

Moon gasps and says I'M HAVING A
BRAINSTORM!
WE CAN LAUNCH STANLEY INTO
SPACE, FOR AN ASTRONAUT AWARD!

Ollie says BUT THEN HE'LL BE IN SPACE.
HOW ABOUT JUGGLING?
I'LL BET HE CAN JUGGLE.

He tosses some balls and says STANLEY, CATCH!
(GRUNTING, WHIMPERING)
OR...

Moon says WHAT ABOUT SOMETHING SPORTY,
JUST WITHOUT BALLS?

Ollie says OR WHAT ABOUT A SMART AWARD
FOR KNOWING LOTS OF STUFF?

Moon says SPORTS.

Ollie says SMARTS.

Moon says SPORTS!

Ollie says SMARTS!

Moon gasps and says I KNOW!
HOW ABOUT BOTH?

Stanley says HI, GUYS?
SO, WHAT'S THE PLAN FOR WINNING
MY AWARD?

Moon says LOTS AND LOTS OF TRAINING!

Ollie says STARTING NOW.

Stanley stands at the bottom of a stairway and says SERIOUSLY?
YOU REALLY THINK I CAN WIN A
SPORTS AWARD, MOON?

Moon says OF COURSE YOU CAN!
NOW, UP YOU GO.
SERIOUSLY.

Stanley struggles to reach the top.

(GRUNTING IN EXERTION)
(PANTING IN EXHAUSTION)

Ollie says OH, GOOD, YOU'RE HERE.
TIME TO STUDY!

Stanley says STUDY?!
FOR A SPORTS AWARD?

Ollie says NO, FOR YOUR SMARTEST SNAIL
AWARD.
READY, SET, MEMORIZE!

Stanley sighs and says BUT I'M SO TIRED!
(SIGHING, GROANING)

Tina watches and says WOW!
(STRAINING)

Later, Moon says COME ON, STANLEY!
YOU'RE DOING GREAT!
I JUST KNOW YOU CAN MAKE IT TO A
HUNDRED PULL-UPS!
(STRAINING)

Stanley does a pull-up on a tree branch.

(GASPING)

Tina says YAY!

Stanley says HOW MANY IS THAT?

Moon says ONE.
ONLY NINETY-NINE MORE TO GO!
(SIGHING, PANTING)
(GASPING)

Later, Ollie points at countries on a map and says NAME THESE CAPITALS.

Stanley says PARIS, FRANCE!
BEIJING, CHINA!
NAIROBI, KENYA!

Moon says STANLEY'S WORKED OUT REALLY
HARD.
HOW'S HE DOING WITH THE
QUIZZING?

Ollie says HE'S STUDIED SO HARD, HIS
EYESTALKS ARE CROSSED.

Stanley says UH-OH.
(BABBLING)
SO, AM I READY?

Moon says TO WIN A SPORTS AWARD?

Ollie says A SMARTEST SNAIL AWARD?

They both say YES!

Ollie says NOTHING CAN STOP YOU NOW!

The family members chant CHAD, CHAD, CHAD,
CHAD!

Stanley says EXCEPT MAYBE CHAD.

Well-built Chad arrives on a canoe as the family chants CHAD, CHAD, CHAD!
(LAUGHING)

Chad says GREETINGS, FAMILY!
ONE MOMENT, WHILE I EFFORTLESSLY
PARK THIS HEAVY, HEAVY CANOE.

He tosses the canoe on land with one hand.

(STRAINING)

They all say OOH...
(GASPING IN WONDER)

Moon says SURE, HE MAY BE ATHLETIC...

Ollie says BUT IS HE SMART?

Moon says NO WAY, NOT A CHANCE!

Chad says OH-HO, GRANNY!
I HAVEN'T SEEN YOU IN
268,564 MINUTES!
SINCE WHICH TIME I'VE LEARNED
ALL THE LANGUAGES OF THE WORLD
AND MEMORIZED EVERYTHING.

Granny says OHH, MY SUPER-SMART SON IN
LAW.
I'M SO GLAD YOU MARRIED OUR
ESTELLA.

Ollie says YEP, SMART.
PRETTY HARD TO BEAT THAT.
(GROANING)

Moon says WHAT ABOUT BALLET?

Ollie says OR ARCHERY?

Moon says PIANO?
KARATE!

Ollie says EXTREME ORIGAMI?

Moon says WHAT DO YOU SAY, STANLEY?

Ollie says STANLEY?
WHERE'D HE GO?
DID WE SCARE HIM OFF?

Up on the stairway, Stanley says IN MY FAMILY, THERE'S ALWAYS
SOMEONE BETTER THAN ME.
I'M JUST NOT SPECIAL ENOUGH.
I'M TOO SMALL, AND TOO WEAK,
AND TOO UNCOORDINA...
(SHOUTING)

He starts rolling down the stairs and says WHOA!
(SCREAMING)
(GRUNTING)

He lands on a canoe on the lake and says UH-OH.
HELLO?
HELP!
ANYBODY?
PLEASE?!

The water takes the canoe to the middle of the lake.

Ollie says STANLEY?

Moon says YOO-HOO, WHERE ARE YOU?
(CHATTERING HAPPILY)

Moon says HAS ANYBODY SEEN STANLEY?

Ollie says UHH, HELLO?
HAS ANYBODY SEEN STANLEY?

Granny says HI, KIDDIES!
SAY, YOU HAVEN'T SEEN STANLEY,
HAVE YOU?

Ollie says NO, WE CAN'T FIND HIM
ANYWHERE!

Moon says I'M WORRIED, OLLIE.
HE'S GONE AND I THINK IT'S
OUR FAULT.

Ollie says WE'VE BEEN SO BUSY TRYING TO
MAKE HIM SOMETHING HE'S NOT, WE
FORGOT THE MOST SPECIAL THING
ABOUT HIM.

Moon says WHAT A GOOD FRIEND HE IS!
COME ON, WE HAVE TO FIND HIM.

On the boat, Stanley says WELL, THIS IS JUST GREAT!
NOT ONLY AM I NOT GETTING AN
AWARD, I'M STUCK IN THE MIDDLE
OF THE LAKE!

Suddenly, Stanley notices something whimpering under a tarp on the boat.

(WHIMPERING)

Stanley says HUH?
WHAT WAS THAT?
(WHIMPERING)
TINA?
ARE YOU HIDING?
WHAT HAPPENED?
YOU LOOK SADDER THAN THAT TIME
YOU DROPPED YOUR MARSHMALLOW
INTO THE CAMPFIRE.

Sobbing, Tina says NO, IT-- IT'S JUST...
I LOVE MY FAMILY AND ALL, BUT I
JUST DON'T MEASURE UP TO ALL MY
BIG, AMAZING SNAIL RELATIVES.
LIKE...

Stanley says CHAD?

Tina says NO, YOU.

Stanley says ME?!

Tina says I'VE BEEN WATCHING ALL DAY.
AND I COULD NEVER BE AS AMAZING
AS YOU.

Stanley says UHH, I THINK YOU HAVE ME
MIXED UP WITH SOMEBODY WHO'S
NOT ME.

Tina says NUH-UH!
YOU'RE AN AMAZING FRIEND.
YOU'RE SO KIND WITH OLLIE AND
MOON, AND NEVER GET ANGRY, EVEN
WHEN THINGS GO WRONG.

Stanley says AWW, I DON'T KNOW.
I GUESS THAT'S TRUE.

Tina says AND OLLIE AND MOON WOULDN'T
GO TO SO MUCH TROUBLE IF THEY
DIDN'T THINK YOU WERE AMAZING
TOO.
I SURE LOOK UP TO YOU.
(CHUCKLING HAPPILY)

Stanley says YOU KNOW WHAT, TINA?
THAT MAKES ME FEEL KINDA
SPECIAL.
DON'T YOU WORRY, I'LL GET US OUT
OF HERE.
BECAUSE I'M STANLEY, AND I'M
SPECIAL!

His shell starts spinning like a motorboat and he takes the boat to the shore.

Up on the stairway, Ollie says STANLEY!

Moon says STANLEY!
THERE YOU ARE!
(SHOUTING, SCREAMING)

They both fall down stairs and lands on another canoe.

They start paddling and singing a song that goes
OPPOSITES
THAT'S WHAT WE ARE
WE CAN'T GIVE UP
GIVE ME A SMILE, SAY CHEESE
WE'RE FUNNY BUDDIES
SING IT OUT AND SHOUT
YOU ARE MY BEST FRIEND
WE CAN WORK IT OUT
SIDE BY SIDE
WE'RE FUNNY BUDDIES
SING IT OUT AND SHOUT
TRUE FRIENDS TOGETHER
WHAT'S IT'S ALL ABOUT
WE CAN WORK IT OUT

They lost their paddles get stranded in the middle of the lake. Stanley rescues them.

(CHEERING)

Tina says THAT WAS AMAZING, COUSIN
STANLEY!

Ollie says THANKS, STANLEY.

Moon says YOU'RE SUCH A GREAT FRIEND,
STANLEY.

Chad says WHICH IS WHY WE'RE GIVING
YOU-- THIS!
PRESENTING...

Chad gives him a medal.

Tina says THE FRIENDSHIP AWARD!
FOR BEING THE BEST FRIEND A
SNAIL COULD BE.
(ALL CHEERING)

Stanley says THANKS, EVERYBODY.
I'M TOUCHED.
AND I HAVE SOMETHING TO SHARE
TOO.

Tina says HUH?

Stanley goes in his shell and says FIND IT, IT SHOULD
JUST BE RIGHT-- OHH, OHH!
WHAT IS THAT DOING HERE?
HA-HA, FOUND IT!

She gives Tina an award, too.

Tina says AWW!
(GIGGLING)

Stanley says FOR OUR LITTLE COUSIN TINA,
THE HELPFUL AWARD.
FOR HELPING ME REALIZE I'M
SPECIAL TOO.

Granny says WHAT A GREAT IDEA, GIVING
AWARDS FOR FRIENDSHIP AND
HELPFULNESS.
HMM... THAT GIVES ME AN IDEA.

Back home, Moon looks at their awards and says THE BEST CATS AWARD.
THAT WAS SO NICE OF GRAMMY TO
GIVE US THESE.

Ollie says BUT WEREN'T WE THE ONLY CATS?

Stanley says YEAH!
SO YOU TOTALLY DESERVE THEM!
(GRUNTING)

Stanley does origami figures.

Moon says UHH, STANLEY?

Ollie says WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

Stanley says OH, PRACTICING FOR NEXT YEAR.
FOR THE EXTREME ORIGAMI AWARD!
(CHUCKLING, GRUNTING)
A SWAN!
(LAUGHING)

Moon says WOW, THAT'S AWESOME, STANLEY!

Music plays as the end credits roll.

(music plays)

Clips show an 11-year-old girl with long wavy brown hair driving a side by side and playing hockey.

The narrator says TODAY, WE'RE
VISITING CAYDA.
SHE'S FAST ON HER FEET.

Cayda says ME AND TATEM WE'RE THE
ONLY 2 GIRLS ON THE TEAM.

The narrator says SHE'S GOT HORSES.
WE'LL GO FOR A RIDE IN
HER SIDE BY SIDE.
AND SHE'S A RODEO STAR.

Cayda says I LOVE BARREL RACING.

The narrator says LET'S GO.

(music plays)

In animation, pictures of several different kids appear hanging on laundry lines. A raven on the lines flies off to the sun and opens his wings as the title of the show appears. It reads "Raven's Quest."

Cayda says DANIT'ADA.
HELLO, MY NAME IS CAYDA
AND I AM 11 YEARS OLD.
I AM FROM TSUU T'INA
NATION NEAR
CALGARY, ALBERTA.

A map shows the Canadian provinces. It zooms in on Tsuu T'ina Nation, Alberta.

Cayda says WELCOME TO MY FAMILY FARM.
MY FAMILY ARE CATTLE RANCHERS
AND WE ARE RODEO PEOPLE.
WE ALSO HAVE LOTS
AND LOTS OF HORSES.
HORSES ARE A BIG PART OF
MY CULTURE AND TRADITION.
WE ARE GONNA DO "COOKING WITH
CAYDA" AND THIS IS MY BEST
FRIEND TATEM.

Tatem is around 11, with long straight blond hair in a ponytail and she wears a striped T-shirt.

Cayda says SHE SLEPT OVER.
CAYDA'S MY BEST FRIEND BECAUSE
WE'RE COUSINS AND WE GREW UP
TOGETHER.
WE GO TO THE SAME SCHOOL
AND WE PLAY HOCKEY TOGETHER.
TODAY, WE ARE GOING
TO MAKE PANCAKES.
POUR THAT IN.

(music plays)

Cayda says TATEM LIKES SYRUP AND I DON'T.
SOME PEOPLE SAY THAT'S WEIRD
BUT THAT'S JUST HOW I LIKE IT.

In the paddock, Cayda says THIS IS MY HORSE
DAKOTA RIGHT HERE.
THIS IS MICKEY,
DAKOTA'S BOYFRIEND.
THEY ARE TRYING TO
GET RID OF THE FLIES.
DAKOTA IS MY RODEO HORSE.
I BARREL RACE ON HER.

A man says HERE WE GO WITH CAYDA.

Cayda says SHE WAS GIVEN TO
ME BY MY GRANDPA.
BARREL RACING IS A COMPETITION.
YOU HAVE TO RACE AROUND 3
BARRELS AND GO AS FAST
AS YOU CAN.
I LOVE BARREL RACING.
I HAVE A COMPETITION
COMING UP SOON.
I AM REALLY EXCITED.
MY MOM IS A COWGIRL.
SHE DOES BARREL RACING AND
SHE IS MY ROLE MODEL TO START
RIDING.
TATEM DOES NOT LIKE HORSES.

Tatem says I'M SCARED OF HORSES
BECAUSE THEY'RE SO BIG.
I FEEL A BIT SAFER
WHEN I'M WITH CAYDA.

Tatem strokes one of the horses.

Cayda says SEE TATEM, THEY'RE NOT THAT BAD.

Tatem says SO CAYDA, ARE YOU GONNA
SHOW ME HOW TO GROOM HER?

Cayda says YEAH BUT FIRST HOW
ABOUT LETS PICK UP HER POOP?

Cayda says YOU GO OVER WITH THIS BRUSH
BECAUSE IT GETS ALL THE MUD OFF.
GOOD GIRL.
SEE WHEN I PUSHED HER OVER?
YOU HAVE TO PUSH HER REALLY
HARD BECAUSE SHE'S REALLY HEAVY.
SO, WE HAVE TO BRUSH HORSES
BECAUSE IT CAN PROTECT THEM FROM
GETTING SORES AND TO GET
A NICE AND SHINY COAT.
I WOULD LOVE THIS
IF I WAS A HORSE.

On her side by side, Cayda says WE ARE GOING TO CRUISE
AROUND, AROUND THE RANCH.
ME AND TATEM HAVE A LOT OF FUN.
OUR FAVOURITE THING TO DO
IS RIDE ON MY SIDE BY SIDE.

(music plays)

Cayda says WELCOME TO MY ROOM.
THIS IS WHERE I KEEP ALL OF MY
STUFF AND THIS IS WHERE
I HANG OUT.
AND THIS IS A PICTURE THAT
I PAINTED IN 4TH GRADE.
IT'S NOT THAT VERY GOOD BUT
I THINK I DID A GOOD JOB.
THESE ARE THE MEDALS
THAT I HAVE WON OVER THE YEARS.

She points at a large sticker on the wall and says ME AND DAKOTA.
THIS PHOTO WAS
TAKEN AT THE N.A.N.C.A.
FINALS LAST YEAR.

A caption reads "N.A.N.C.A. Northern Alberta Native Cowboys Association."

Cayda says MY UNCLE HAD A PHOTO SO HE PUT
IT ON A STICKER AND THEN HE GAVE
IT TO ME FOR CHRISTMAS AND
I WAS SO HAPPY AND NOW I
HAVE IT ON MY WALL.
I HAVE BEEN RACING WITH
DAKOTA FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS.
I REALLY LIKE BEING AN ATHLETE.
YOU HAVE TO BE REALLY
STRONG TO BE AN ATHLETE.
YOU HAVE TO BE NA TSI TSI DI.
NA TSI TSI DI MEANS STRONG.
SO NA TSI TSI DI.

(music plays)

Cayda says SO WE'RE AT HOCKEY
CAMP AND THIS IS MY TEAM.

The team says HI.

Cayda says ME AND TATEM PLAY ON OUR
SCHOOL TEAM AND OUR NATIVE TEAM.
MY NATIVE TEAM IS
CALLED SARCEE 7 CHIEFS.
ME AND TATEM ARE THE
ONLY 2 GIRLS ON THE TEAM.

Tatem says ME AND CAYDA ARE TOUGH AND WE
STICK TOGETHER NO MATTER WHAT.

Cayda says OUR TEAM WON THE
ATOM A CHAMPIONSHIPS.
WE WERE SO HAPPY.
IT WAS REALLY FUN BECAUSE WE
GOT TO ROUGH UP THE BOYS BUT
SOMETIMES THEY WOULD
MAKE FUN OF US BECAUSE WE
WERE THE ONLY GIRLS.
I WANT TO MAKE IT TO THE
OLYMPICS WHEN I'M OLDER AND I
WANT TO BE ON TEAM CANADA.

(music plays)

Cayda says I AM AT THE TSUU T'INA NATION
ANNUAL RODEO AND POW WOW.
MY FAVOURITE RODEO
IS INDIAN RODEO.
I LIKE IT BECAUSE A WHOLE BUNCH
OF PEOPLE FROM DIFFERENT NATIONS
COME TO COMPETE.
I AM REALLY PROUD OF MY CULTURE.
OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH HORSES
GOES BACK HUNDREDS OF YEARS.
OUR ANCESTORS USED HORSES TO
HUNT AND TO PROVIDE FOOD FOR
THEIR FAMILY.
I'M GETTING DAKOTA
READY FOR OUR BIG RACE.
AT EVERY INDIAN RODEO WE
HAVE GRAND ENTRY IN THE ARENA.
WE PRAY FOR THE HORSES TO BE
SAFE AND PRAY THAT WE HAVE A
GOOD RUN.
I GUESS IT'S MY TURN TO RACE.
I'M SO NERVOUS.
COME ON DAKOTA WE GOT THIS.
The announcer says A YOUNG BARREL RACER OUT
OF TSUU T'INA NATION.
SHE CAN HANDLE THAT
HORSE REALLY WELL.
NOW SHE GETS TO THAT SECOND TURN
WE LIKE TO SEE SOME NICE CLOSE
TURNS TO THE BARREL
WITHOUT KNOCKING THEM OVER.
OH LOOK NOW.
THE HORSE IS RUNNING WILD.
WE HAVE A TIME OF 19.84.

Cayda says WOW.
I CAN'T BELIEVE MY
TIME WAS A 19.84.
MY BEST TIME WAS 15 SECONDS
BUT I AM STILL HAPPY
WITH TODAY'S TIME.
I GOT LOTS OF POINTS.
WITH ENOUGH POINTS YOU GET
TO MAKE IT TO THE I.N.F.R.

A caption reads "I.N.F.R. Indian National Finals Rodeo."

Cayda says IN LAS VEGAS.
MY DREAM, SOMEDAY, IS
TO MAKE IT TO LAS VEGAS.
I HOPE YOU HAD A GREAT
TIME HANGING OUT WITH ME.

Cayda and other kids wave and say SIYISGAAS.
BYE.

Music plays as the end credits roll.

(music plays)

Clips show different families having fun and partying together.

TVO Kids' Kara and her band play and sing a song that goes OH, OH-WHOA
OH, OH-WHOA-OH
OH-OH-OH-WHOA
OH, OH-WHOA
THERE IS NOTHING
NOTHING IN THIS WORLD
LIKE FAMILY
OH, FAMILY
WE WORK TOGETHER
AND HELP ONE ANOTHER
FAMILY
OH, FAMILY
WE'RE NOT PERFECT
AND DON'T TRY TO BE

Teacher Rabia says WOW! TODAY WE'VE SEEN SO MANY
COOL TYPES OF FAMILIES,
AND JUST NOW WE SAW KEVIN AND
GABRIELLA'S FAMILIES,
AND IT LOOKS LIKE THEY HAVE
SO MUCH FUN TOGETHER.
THEY DO SO MANY DIFFERENT
ACTIVITIES,
AND THAT IS SO COOL.
IT'S SO COOL TO SPEND TIME
WITH YOUR FAMILY
AND DO ALL OF THESE COOL
ACTIVITIES WITH YOUR FAMILIES.
AND I THINK IT REALLY REMINDS ME
OF HOW FAMILIES ARE SIMILAR.
WE TALKED TODAY ABOUT HOW
FAMILIES CAN BE DIFFERENT,
BUT WE ALSO TALKED ABOUT HOW
FAMILIES CAN BE SIMILAR.
AND SO WE REALLY LEARNED THAT
FAMILIES CAN BE DIFFERENT
IN THE THINGS THAT THEY LIKE TO
DO TOGETHER,
THEY CAN BE DIFFERENT IN THE
TYPES OF FAMILY MEMBERS
THAT THEY HAVE,
THEIR CULTURES...
AND ALL SORTS OF OTHER
IDENTITIES,
BUT WE ALSO LEARNED THAT
FAMILIES
HAVE A LOT OF FUN TOGETHER,
AND THEY ARE REALLY SIMILAR.
AND I THINK FAMILIES ARE SIMILAR
BECAUSE THEY CARE ABOUT
EACH OTHER.

She shows a chart with four attributes that families share and says FAMILIES ARE SIMILAR BECAUSE THE
SHOW RESPECT TO EACH OTHER.
FAMILIES ARE SIMILAR BECAUSE
THEY LOVE EACH OTHER,
AND THEY SHOW LOVE WITH THEIR
ACTIONS AND THEIR WORDS.
AND FAMILIES ARE ALSO SIMILAR
BECAUSE OF THE KINDNESS
THAT THEY SHARE.
SO EVEN THOUGH WE ARE DIFFERENT
AND WE HAVE DIFFERENT
FAMILY MEMBERS,
AND WE LIKE TO DO DIFFERENT
THINGS AND DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES,
WE'RE ALL ALSO SIMILAR
IN MANY WAYS.
AND WHEN WE LEARN ABOUT PEOPLE
WHO MIGHT BE DIFFERENT FROM US,
THAT REALLY HELPS US BUILD
RESPECT AND UNDERSTANDING.
AND THAT CAN REALLY HELP US
BUILD A NICE
AND CARING AND FAIR WORLD
FOR EVERYONE.
THAT'S THE END
OF OUR LEARNING TODAY.
THANK YOU SO MUCH
FOR JOINING ME TODAY.
WE HAD SUCH A GREAT TIME
LEARNING ABOUT
DIFFERENT TYPES OF ACTIVITIES
THAT FAMILIES LIKE TO DO.
MY NAME IS TEACHER RABIA,
AND I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL
NEXT TIME.
TAKE CARE FOR NOW!

The episode ends.

Now music plays as the end credits for Power Hour of Learning roll.

A caption reads "TVO Kids would like to thank all the teachers involved in the Power Hour of Learning as they continue to teach the children of Ontario from their homes."
