A picture shows a map of Canada along with the Canadian flag and coat of arms, an R.C.M.P officer, a fish and a moose.

(music plays)

Voices say MY CANADA.

A kid giggles and says SWEET.

In a classroom, the teacher says CLASS TODAY WE'RE GOING TO
LEARN HOW TO READ A MAP.
IF YOU LOOK ON THE CHALKBOARD
YOU'LL SEE A MAP OF CANADA.
IT'S GOT PROVINCES AND
INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED
BOUNDARIES AND OH ISN'T IT JUST
WONDERFUL STUDENTS?
I LOVE MAPS - WHEN I WAS A CHILD
I WOULD SPEND HOURS JUST LOOKING
AT THEM AND STUDYING THEM,
WHAT'S THAT UH YES, YES I DID
HAVE FRIENDS WHEN I WAS A CHILD,
WHY DO YOU ASK?
WHAT IS A MAP?

The show turns to real life.

A girl in a flannel shirt says A MAP SHOWS YOU WHERE A
CERTAIN PLACE IS.

A boy with wavy light brown hair says AND IT TELLS YOU HOW TO GET
FROM PLACE TO PLACE.

A girl in a blue hijab says LIKE IF YOU'RE NEW TO CANADA
YOU DON'T REALLY KNOW UM WHERE,
LIKE WHERE THINGS ARE SO UM
FIRST YOU CAN USE A MAP AND IT
CAN GET YOU TO PLACES.

Back to animation, the teacher says MAPS ARE THE BEST - YOU KNOW
THE ONLY THING POSSIBLY BETTER
THAN A MAP IS A MUSIC VIDEO
ABOUT MAPS.
CALL ME CRAZY, WATCH THIS.

In animation, a dog sleeps.

A voice says YOU KNOW WHAT YOU NEED, MAPS.
[Music playing]
Maps appear in front of the dog and the dog barks at them.

A song says MAPS MAPS MAPS WELL A MAP CAN
TELL YOU WHERE YOU WANT TO GO
SOME OF THE LINES ARE TRAIN
TRACKS BUT MOST OF THEM ARE
ROADS THE BLUE IS WATER THE
GREEN IS PARKS OR TREES BUT
DIRECTIONS ARE IMPORTANT YOU
SHOULD REALLY LEARN THESE

The cardinal directions symbol pops up on a map.

A man says AH YES, DIRECTIONS - ALL MAPS
HAVE A DIRECTION SYMBOL LIKE
THIS.
THE LETTERS HERE STAND FOR:

The song says NORTH!
[Dog barking]
EAST SOUTH WEST DO IT WITH ME
NORTH EAST SOUTH WEST
[Music playing]
MAPS.

The teacher says HOW DO YOU REMEMBER NORTH,
EAST, SOUTH AND WEST?

A black haired boy in a white T-shirt says NEVER EAT SOUR WATERMELONS.

A boy in a green T-shirt says NEVER EAT SLIMY WORMS.

The boy with wavy light brown hair says NEVER EAT SHREDDED WHEAT.

The teacher says WHY WOULD YOU NEVER EAT
SHREDDED WHEAT?
I LOVE SHREDDED WHEAT; IT'S BOTH
DELICIOUS AND NUTRITIOUS.
[Bell ringing]

The teacher says ANYWAY THAT CONCLUDES OUR
LESSON ON MAPS.
I LOVE MAPS, I LOVE MAPS.
MAPS AND ME ARE VERY BEST
FRIENDS AND MAPS ARE BETTER THAN
HATS.
HAHA MAPS.
[Laughter]

The TVO Kids logo appears.
