(Soft music plays)

A girl with long brown hair sings.

A narrator says, THIS IS MALEAH.

Maleah and a girl with long brown hair sit on a trampoline while painting.

The narrator says, SHE LIKES TRAMPOLINE PAINTING,
RACES WAR CANOES WITH HER
SISTER, AND BAKES CUPCAKES THAT
LOOK LIKE GALAXIES.

Maleah and a girl with dark hair enjoy cupcakes. Maleah gives a thumbs up.

The narrator says, LET'S GO!

The sun rises over an animated landscape of hills and mountains. Pictures of different kids and raven’s hang on laundry lines. A raven on one of the lines caws and flies off toward the mountains. The raven spreads it’s wings across the sun and reveals the title, “Raven’s Quest.” The raven winks and caws.

Maleah stands in front of a lake with her hands in her pockets.

She says, HI, I'M MALEAH.
I'M 11 YEARS OLD.
I AM FROM STZ'UMINUS FIRST
NATION AND I LIVE IN LADYSMITH
B.C.

A map of Canada shows the Canadian provinces. Ladysmith is marked on the map. Maleah stands in front of a house.

She says, THIS IS MY HOUSE.
COME ON IN.

Maleah enters the house. She goes into a bedroom.

Maleah says, THIS IS MY ROOM.
I REALLY LIKE TO PAINT.
IT LIKE, INSPIRES ME.

Maleah picks up a painting of a grey cat.

She says, THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE
MY CAT PUSS PUSS.

Maleah picks up another painting.

She says, HERE IS A SUNSET ONE I'VE
ACTUALLY DONE RECENTLY AND THEN
THIS IS AN OWL.
THIS IS ACTUALLY GOING TO
BE FOR MY GRANDMA.

Maleah holds her owl painting.

She says, THIS IS A MINI PADDLE.
THERE'S ACTUALLY SALMON
ON THE PADDLE.

Maleah’s paddle hangs on a wall.

Maleah says, THESE ARE MY GYMNASTICS MEDALS.
ONE IS BRONZE.
ONE IS TAN.
MASTERED.

The medals are laid out on Maleah’s bed. Maleah giggles.

She says, AND THEN THIS IS JUST A MINI
EIFFEL TOWER.

Maleah holds her Eiffel Tower.

She says, THESE ARE MY DRUMS.
THEY WERE GIVEN TO ME.
MADE FOR ME.

Maleah holds one of her drums.

She says, THIS WAS MADE BY MY GRANDPA.
IT WAS MADE OUT OF HIDE.

Maleah points to the handle of her drum.

She says, THIS IS A DEER ANTLER.
IT IS TO HOLD IT AS A HANDLE.
AND WHEN YOU PUT A DRUM DOWN YOU
WOULD NEVER PUT IT DOWN ON ITS
FACE.
YOU WOULD PUT IT FACING
UP LIKE THAT.

Maleah puts her drum on her bed face up. She holds a grey cat.

Maleah says, THIS IS MY CAT PUSS PUSS.
WE NEVER REALLY FOUND A NAME FOR
HER SO WE JUST CALLED HER PUSS
PUSS.
SHE LOOKS PRETTY
SLEEPY RIGHT NOW.

The raven appears and winks.

Maleah says, THIS IS MY MOM STEPHANIE.

Maleah sits at a table with the girl with long dark hair in a ponytail. She gestures to a woman with long dark hair and glasses.

Stephanie says, HI.

She waves.

Maleah says, AND THIS IS MY COUSIN AMELIA.

Amelia grins.

Maleah says, AND
ME AND AMELIA ARE GOING TO BE
BAKING SOME CUPCAKES.

Amelia pours cupcake mix into a bowl.

Maleah says, IN OUR SPARE TIME WE LIKE TO GO
QUADDING OR WATCH MOVIES.

Maleah cracks eggs into the bowl.

She says, WE BAKE TOGETHER.

She mixes the cupcake batter.

Maleah says, MY FAVOURITE PART ABOUT BAKING
IS TO LICK THE BOWL OR LIKE EAT
THE LEFTOVER COOKIE DOUGH.

Maleah and her mom slide trays of cupcakes in an oven.

Maleah says, NOW WE'RE GOING TO
BE PUTTING THE ICING.

Maleah and Amelia decorate the baked cupcakes. They spread different colours of icing over the cupcakes.

Maleah says, I AM TRYING TO DO A
TIE DYE LOOK.

Other cupcake decorations are added. The raven appears and gives a thumbs up.

Maleah says, THIS ONE LOOKS LIKE A GALAXY.
WE ARE ALL DONE DECORATING NOW.
SO NOW WE'RE GOING TO EAT THE
CUPCAKES AND I'M GOING TO EAT
THIS ONE FIRST.

Maleah and Amelia take a bite of their cupcakes. Maleah nods and gives a thumbs up. She stands outside beside a canoe.

Maleah says, THIS IS A TRADITIONAL WAR CANOE.
IT WAS PASSED DOWN
BY MY GRANDPA.
THIS CANOE IS MADE OUT OF CEDAR.
THIS IS A DOUBLE.
TWO PEOPLE CAN GO ON
IT IN LIKE RACES.

A paddle lies in the canoe.

Maleah says, THIS IS THE PADDLE I USE
SOMETIMES FOR RACING AND WHAT I
WAS TAUGHT WHEN YOU ARE RACING,
IT'S KINDA LIKE KNOCKING AT A
DOOR.

Maleah demonstrates how she paddles.

She says, THE HUL'QUMI'NUM WORD FOR
PADDLE IS SQ'UMUL.

Maleah holds a piece of paper with the word sq’umul written on it

She says, SQ’UMUL.

Text reads, Paddle.

Maleah says, PADDLE.
SQ’UMUL.

A group of three people carry the canoe to a lake.

Maleah says, I'VE BEEN RACING ON TRADITIONAL
WAR CANOES FOR 2 YEARS NOW.

She stands by the lake with a girl wearing sunglasses. Maleah wears a life vest.

She says, I LIKE TO PRACTISE
WITH MY SISTER.

Maleah gestures to the girl wearing sunglasses, who waves.

Maleah says, THIS IS CHARLISE.
WE'RE GONNA GET OUR LIFE
JACKETS ON AND GO OUT.

Maleah and Charlise go out on the water in the canoe.

Maleah says, YOU REALLY HAVE TO WORK TOGETHER
WHEN YOU'RE ON A CANOE.
YOU HAVE TO WATCH THE PADDLE IN
FRONT OF YOU SO YOU GUYS ARE ON
TIME.

On a “Maleah Cam” in the canoe, Maleah paddles.

Maleah says, BOW AND STERN WOULD BE PADDLING
ON THE SAME SIDE AND STERN WOULD
BE SAYING 'SWITCH' THEN THEY
WOULD GO ON THE OTHER SIDE AND
IT LIKE LET'S THE CANOE GO
FASTER.
THEY PUT THEIR PADDLE KINDA
UNDER THE CANOE AND IT TURNS IT
WHAT WAY YOU WANT IT TO GO.

The raven appears and flexes their muscles.

Maleah says, TRAINING WITH MY SISTER
IS PRETTY COOL.
I GUESS IT LIKE
CONNECTS US MORE.
IT FEELS LIKE NICE.
LIKE IT'S FUN.
IT FEELS GOOD TO BE OUT THERE.

The sun shines brightly over the sisters as they travel across the lake. Maleah sits on the trampoline with the girl with long brown hair.

Maleah says, THIS IS MY COUSIN CHEV AND SHE
IS WITH ME NOW BECAUSE WE ARE
GOING TO PAINT.

Text reads, Chevralee. The cousins paint.

Maleah says, PAINTING LIKE CALMS YOU DOWN.
IT KINDA GIVES YOU TIME TO STOP
THINKING ABOUT THINGS AND JUST
RELAX.

Chev says, AND IT LIKE
EASES THE MIND.
THERE'S NO WORRIES AND,
YOU FOCUS ON PAINTING.

She smiles.

Maleah says, WE'LL PROBABLY DO LIKE SOME
SHOOTING STARS IN THIS OR LIKE A
MOON.
I'LL PROBABLY DO SOME CLOUDS.

Chev says, THAT LOOKS SO GOOD.

Maleah says, THANK YOU.

Maleah and Chev hold up their paintings.

Chev says, TADA!

Maleah laughs. She wears a helmet on a quad bike. Her mom stands between her, and another quad rider.

Maleah says, NOW WE'RE GONNA GO
FOR A QUAD RIDE.

(Upbeat music plays)

Maleah takes off through a forest on her bike.

She says, MY DAD TAUGHT ME HOW TO QUAD.
I'VE BEEN QUADDING
FOR SIX YEARS.
I AM VERY CAREFUL OF WHAT TRAILS
I GO ON OR WHATEVER I CROSS.
SO, IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT TO
HAVE A HELMET ON.
I'M ALWAYS MAKING SURE I HAVE A
HELMET ON WHEN I'M GOING FOR A
QUAD RIDE EVEN IF
I'M A PASSENGER.

On a “Maleah Cam” the quads travel down a trail.

Maleah says, IT'S FUN TO HANG OUT
WITH MY COUSINS.
WE GET TO LIKE DO FUN THINGS.
LIKE WE GET TO GO QUADDING.
YOU CAN GO EXPLORE.
FIND NEW TRAILS.

Maleah stands of a platform with a group of people.

Maleah says, THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FRIENDS
AND WE'RE GOING TO BE SINGING A
COUPLE OF SONGS FOR YOU TODAY.

Maleah’s friends smile and wave.

Maleah says, DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH.

(Laughing)

The group plays different instruments. Maleah plays one of her drums.

(Singing)

Maleah says, MY GRANDMA BUFFY TAUGHT
ME HOW TO DRUM AND SING.
MY FAVOURITE SONG TO SING
IS THE IRON MAN SONG.

(Maleah Singing)

Maleah says, I FEEL PROUD WHEN I'M
SINGING AND DRUMMING.

(Singing)

Maleah plays her drum.

(Soft music plays)

Maleah says, THANKS FOR SPENDING THE
DAY WITH US.

Maleah and her friends wave.

They say, BYE.

The raven appears and caws before flying away.
