[Intense rock music plays]
[Title] Wild Kratts.
PEOPLE: Wild Kratts.
DESCRIPTION: In outer space, the Earth spins.
[Whooshing]
[Gentle music plays]
CHRIS: On the continent of North America, in the northern temperate forest where pristine lakes abound, we're here on a beautiful lake in early summer. It's us, the Kratt Brothers. I'm Chris.
DESCRIPTION: A box zooms in on North America. Two kayakers paddle across a serene blue lake with evergreen trees behind them. The first person, Chris, is wearing a green shirt under his lifejacket, and the second person, Martin, is wearing a black shirt under his lifejacket.
MARTIN: And I'm Martin. One of the cool things about being out here is checking out all the amazing water birds. Water birds live in and around water. Different kinds of water birds eat different foods. They like aquatic plants, fish, crustaceans and insects.
[Loon call]
DESCRIPTION: Videos show a loon looking around, evergreen trees standing tall beside a still lake, a loon shaking water off its wings, a duck swimming, swans eating, and a black stork eating a fish.
CHRIS: Some groups of water birds are herons and egrets. Long-legged waders that hunt fish on the water's edge. Ducks! From surface floating dabbling ducks, to deep water diving ducks.
DESCRIPTION: An egret snatches a fish out of the water. Ducks glide across a pond and dive deep into the water.
MARTIN: Geese! Who are social birds, who love to eat plants. Kingfishers. Fish hunters with a great dive!
DESCRIPTION: Canada geese swim across the water. A kingfisher, with its blue and yellow wings, dives deep into a pond.
CHRIS: Loons, another fish hunter with amazing red eyes.
DESCRIPTION: An underwater video shows a loon swimming. It has black wings with white spots, long legs, a long neck, and red eyes. Martin and Chris continue paddling across the lake.
MARTIN: All water birds have features specially adapted for their watery way of life. Take ducks and loons. Check out their webbed feet. Loons use their large feet to move through the water. The feet fold up and then stretch wide for the power stroke.
CHRIS: And the beaks. Specially designed for the foods they eat. Pointy beaks for precision fishing and flat beaks for skimming up water plants.
DESCRIPTION: A white egret stabs its beak into the water. Brown and green mallard ducks nibble at water plants.
MARTIN: And don't forget about feathers. Feathers that are oily and waterproof, so the feathers stay dry and ready to fly.
DESCRIPTION: Water beads off a Canada goose's back. Chris and Martin pull their kayaks onto the shore.
CHRIS: Imagine if we had the features of these amazing birds.
MARTIN: Imagine if we had water bird power.
MARTIN/CHRIS: What if?
[Exciting music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Martin and Chris transform into cartoon versions of themselves. Martin wears a blue zipper jacket, and Chris wears a green zipper jacket. They both wear white T-shirts, beige shorts, and dark purple hiking boots. Martin and Chris share a look and start running.
[Energetic music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In animation, a paw icon spins and becomes a map of the world.
SINGER: On adventure with the coolest creatures, from the oceans to the trees. The Brothers Kratt are going places you never get to see! Hanging with their creature friends, get ready, it's the hour.
DESCRIPTION: Martin swims with a shark. Chris swings on vines through a jungle. Martin and Chris fly on bees. In the Tortuga, a flying tortoise ship, brown-haired biomechanical engineer Aviva, black-haired mechanical engineer Koki, and red-haired pilot Jimmy Z watch Martin and Chris visit with a young anteater, a baby rhino and a leopard cub.
SINGER: We're gonna save some animals today with: Creature Power!
DESCRIPTION: Martin and Chris press Power Discs into their Creature Power suit vests and activate different animal powers. Martin uses an eagle disc, and Chris uses a winged lizard disc.
SINGER: Gonna go wild with Wild Kratts, gonna go wild, wild, wild Kratts. Gonna go wild with Wild Kratts, gonna go wild, wild, wild.
DESCRIPTION: Martin’s suit transforms him into an eagle. Chris’s suit transforms him into a winged lizard.
SINGER: Cheetah speed and lizard glide. Falcon flight and lion pride!
DESCRIPTION: Martin runs beside a cheetah in a cheetah suit. Chris flies behind a winged lizard in his lizard suit. Martin follows an eagle through the air in his eagle suit. Chris stands beside a lion in a lion suit.
SINGER: Gonna go wild with wild Kratts, gonna go wild, wild, wild Kratts. Wild Kratts! Gonna go wild with wild Kratts, gonna go wild, wild, wild Kratts.
DESCRIPTION: A crocodile snaps at Martin. A squid wraps itself around a whale. Martin runs into a lion, and Chris flies into a tree. In their Creature Power suits, Martin and Chris jump into a forest clearing.
SINGER: Go wild, wild, wild Kratts!
[Title] Wild Kratts!
[Gentle music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Chris announces the episode title.
CHRIS: Duck - Duck - Loon!
[Distant loon call]
[Gentle music]
[Text reads] Created by: Martin Kratt, Chris Kratt. Written by: Chris Kratt. Directed by: Chris Kratt and Louis Champagne.
DESCRIPTION: Fog rolls over a lake surrounded by trees. Chris and Martin run through the trees, chasing after a brown otter.
CHRIS: I think he went that way.
MARTIN: Right!
DESCRIPTION: The otter jumps into the lake, right as Martin and Chris find him. Chris and Martin are both wearing their Creature Power vests.
[Splash]
CHRIS: Ah! Did we lose him?
MARTIN: The log!
DESCRIPTION: The otter swims underneath a log.
CHRIS: Oh, I really wanted to see if it was Slider.
MARTIN: Well, let's just miniaturize, hop the lily pads, and go in there too.
DESCRIPTION: Chris pulls a silver rod from his backpack. He tosses it onto the grass, and it expands and grows into a platform with mechanical legs pinning it to the ground.
CHRIS: You're thinking what I'm thinking. Expand Miniaturizer!
[Machine hums/buzzes]
MARTIN/CHRIS: Miniaturize!!!
DESCRIPTION: Chris and Martin jump onto the platform. A blue light surrounds them as they shrink into tiny versions of themselves.
[Machine hums/buzzes]
MARTIN: [chuckles] What a great day to be miniature!
DESCRIPTION: Martin leans on Chris’s shoulder and smiles, looking out onto the foggy lake.
CHRIS: Yup, on a calm, peaceful lake.
DESCRIPTION: Chris and Martin jump off the platform and onto the grass, where there is a large green and brown rock beside them. The platform shrinks back to its original size.
[Jumping grunts]
[Machine hums/buzzes]
CHRIS: We'll just vault to that first lily. Grab a stick!
DESCRIPTION: Behind Martin, the large green and brown rock stands up, it’s a snapping turtle!
MARTIN: Uh. Hello, snapping turtle...hm. Ugh! Ruuunnn!!!
DESCRIPTION: The snapping turtle bites Martin’s stick. Martin and Chris run back to the Miniaturizer machine.
[Loud snap]
MARTIN: Let's get back to normal size!
MARTIN/CHRIS: Whoa!
DESCRIPTION: The snapping turtle bites the Miniaturizer. Electricity crackles around it as it breaks in half.
[Loud crackle/zap]
MARTIN: The Miniaturizer took a hit!
DESCRIPTION: Chris and Martin run into a rock.
[Thud]
CHRIS: Oof!
DESCRIPTION: The snapping turtle tries to bite them.
MARTIN: Ahhhh...
MARTIN/CHRIS: Uuh...
CHRIS: Ah! [screams]
MARTIN: Keep running!
DESCRIPTION: The snapping turtle lunges to bite the brothers, but bites the green and blue Creaturepods instead.
[Loud snap/crackle]
CHRIS: Aw...there go the Creaturepods! Uh-oh! To the lilies!
[Adventurous music]
DESCRIPTION: Martin and Chris grab a tall stick. They run and vault into the air. Chris lands neatly onto a lily pad.
[Landing grunt]
DESCRIPTION: Martin, however, gets stuck and is snapped at by the turtle, then flung onto a lily pad.
MARTIN: Ugh! Whoaaa! What...?!
[Boing]
MARTIN: Incoming!
[Splat]
MARTIN: Oooh!
DESCRIPTION: Martin lands on his face beside Chris. Behind them, the otter swims by.
CHRIS: Whew, that was close!
MARTIN: Yeah, but now we're stuck mini-sized.
CHRIS: We need to get our Miniaturizer back. Maybe we can fix it.
DESCRIPTION: The otter crawls onto the shore and takes the Miniaturizer in his mouth. He hops back into the water and swims away.
MARTIN: No!
MARTIN/CHRIS: Wait!!!
MARTIN: It was Slider!
[Chuckles]
CHRIS: And he took our Miniaturizer!
MARTIN: Oh, now we're really stuck!
CHRIS: We gotta get back to the Tortuga.
MARTIN: But it's way on the other side of the lake.
CHRIS: Then we'd better get moving.
DESCRIPTION: The snapping turtle’s head appears out of the water and tries to bite Martin. Martin jumps into Chris’s arms.
[Loud splash]
MARTIN: Daaahh!
CHRIS: ASAP!! Follow the lily trail.
DESCRIPTION: Chris and Martin leap from lily pad to lily pad.
[Adventurous music]
DESCRIPTION: Back at the Tortuga, a tortus-shaped ship floating on the water, Jimmy Z loads oars onto a canoe.
[Distant loon call]
DESCRIPTION: Jimmy Z fearfully grabs an oar, shivers, and looks around quickly.
JIMMY Z: [gasps]
[Strange bird call]
JIMMY Z: Aah!!
DESCRIPTION: Jimmy runs inside, and the door closes behind him. He is still holding the oar close to his chest.
JIMMY Z: There's something out there!
DESCRIPTION: Aviva and Koki are sitting in front of a large computer screen. Images of Chris and Martin are crossed out in red.
AVIVA: What?
KOKI: Jimmy, we've got problems. We lost our connection with the brothers. No signal!
JIMMY Z: Ah! It's that sound...
[Distant loon call]
DESCRIPTION: Jimmy Z looks around quickly and clutches his oar.
[Gasps]
JIMMY Z: See! There it is again!
AVIVA: You think that's connected to the guys' disappearance?
KOKI: Okay, well we're going to find out. Let's go search for the brothers, Jimmy!
DESCRIPTION: Koki puts a hand on Jimmy Z’s shoulder before running to the door.
JIMMY Z: No can do.
AVIVA: Well, someone's gotta stay here in case they come back. Would you rather stay here… alone?
[Distant loon call]
JIMMY Z: Aah… Let's go!
DESCRIPTION: Back in the lake, Martin and Chris leap across the lily pads.
CHRIS: C'mon! We've got a long way to go!
[Jumping grunts]
CHRIS: Uuuu...hah!
DESCRIPTION: A large brown, green, and yellow bullfrog jumps onto a lily pad. Martin runs right into him.
[Splash]
MARTIN: Ooof.
[Chuckles]
MARTIN: Sorry Bullfrog...
[Croak]
DESCRIPTION: Martin steps beside him and keeps running.
MARTIN: Bye-bye!
[Croak]
CHRIS: C'mon Martin!
[Jumping grunts]
DESCRIPTION: Chris uses cattails to jump onto lily pads. Then he grabs a long, thin, gray stick coming out of the water.
[Climbing grunts]
DESCRIPTION: Chris looks up. The stick is the leg of a blue heron!
CHRIS: Whoo...ahh. Uh-oh… Hi! Aah!!
DESCRIPTION: The blue heron tries to bite Chris.
[Loud snap]
MARTIN: Keep moving, Chris!
DESCRIPTION: Chris runs atop a hollow log; the blue heron chases him.
CHRIS: Whoa!...Aah!
DESCRIPTION: Martin runs across lily pads and through the hollow log.
MARTIN: On my way, bro!
CHRIS: Yeaaaah!
DESCRIPTION: The blue heron snaps at Chris, and he hides behind a branch.
MARTIN: Chris!
DESCRIPTION: Beside Martin, a red dragonfly hovers over the water. Suddenly, a large, green fish jumps out of the water and eats the dragonfly. The fish splashes Martin.
[Splash--splash]
MARTIN: Huh? Lots of obstacles out here.
DESCRIPTION: Chris hides behind a branch while the blue heron snaps at him.
CHRIS: Tell me about it. Ah... oh…
DESCRIPTION: A beaver swims by Martin, and he jumps onto its furry back. Chris jumps off the log and onto the beaver’s back.
MARTIN: Hey, I know this beaver… it's Sticker! Chris, we can hitch a ride.
CHRIS: Thanks, across the lake please.
MARTIN: Bye, great blue heron! Whew, yeah, this is much better.
DESCRIPTION: Chris and Martin glide across the lake on Sticker’s back. Up ahead, a small, gray bird swims alone.
CHRIS: Hey look… up ahead. Hey, little chick. All alone?
MARTIN: Ah, don't you know it's dangerous being a little chick out here on the big lake. Where are your parents?
DESCRIPTION: The chick frowns and looks around.
CHRIS: Nowhere in sight!
MARTIN: Hmmm… You're just a young fluff ball, so you wouldn't look like your parents yet.
CHRIS: Oh, I know what kind of fluff ball this is, bro.
DESCRIPTION: Martin looks across the lake at different water birds and lists them.
MARTIN: Ah, don't tell me… Duck… Duck… Goose? Hmmm... so what are you? I know you are not a mallard duck chick, and you're not a blue-winged teal duck chick, and definitely not a Canada goose chick. Huh...?
DESCRIPTION: The mallard duck has a yellow beak, a green head, a brown chest, and a gray body. The blue-winged teal duck has a gray head, a brown body, and dark brown spots. The Canada goose has red eyes, a black-and-white head, a gray body, and brown wings.
CHRIS: That's right. None of those.
MARTIN: Don't tell me. Don't tell me. Ah...
CHRIS: Okay, keep thinking, but one thing is for sure. We've gotta find his parents. Fast!
MARTIN: And we have to protect the chick while we do it.
CHRIS: Not easy to do, when we're small like this. But you're right. Thanks for the ride, Sticker.
DESCRIPTION: Chris and Martin jump into the water, falling right beside the baby chick.
[Splash]
[Spitting water]
MARTIN: Don't worry. We'll watch out for you, and we'll call you...um… uh...
[Splash]
DESCRIPTION: The baby chick dives under water, then pops back up. The chick shakes its wings.
[Short chuckle]
MARTIN: Bobber! Because, you dive and float.
CHRIS: [chuckles]
MARTIN: I think he likes it!
CHRIS: Okay Martin, let's split up. One of us has to get to the Tortuga, for big-size help.
MARTIN: And the other has to stay with Bobber.
CHRIS: Exactly!
MARTIN: Alright, I'm the swimming brother. I'll get across this lake.
CHRIS: Great, and I'll stick with Bobber and keep an eye out for his parents.
DESCRIPTION: A green fish jumps out of the water and dives back in.
[water splashing]
DESCRIPTION: Martin pulls a large, red token from his pocket. It has a fish symbol on it.
MARTIN: I'm gonna get a little help from...swimming power! Insert Small mouth Bass Power Disc. Touch Bass. Activate Bass power!
DESCRIPTION: Martin dives underwater and touches the green fish – a Bass. His vest glows blue as he develops a blue fish tail, fish flippers, and a scuba helmet.
[Upbeat music]
DESCRIPTION: Martin leaps into the air and lands beside Chris.
MARTIN: Bass Power!
[Chuckles]
MARTIN: I've got great swimming powers, but, I'm a pretty small bass.
CHRIS: Well, we are mini-sized.
MARTIN: Okay, hang tight. I'll be back.
CHRIS: Good luck!! Okay, Bobber, let's find those parents of yours.
DESCRIPTION: Martin swims off, and Chris leads away Bobber. Later, Jimmy Z and Koki are in a canoe. Jimmy Z paddles as Koki looks through a set of binoculars.
[Distant loon call]
JIMMY Z: Ahhh! The sound... it's… getting...closer! It could pop out of the mist at any time!
[Loon call]
KOKI: Jimmy, we're not chasing ghosts. We're looking for Chris and Martin!
[Bird call]
JIMMY Z: Ahhh!
DESCRIPTION: Jimmy covers his head and hides in the boat. Koki looks down at the water as a loon swims by. The loon has black feathers with white spots, red eyes, and a long beak and neck.
[Loud loon call]
KOKI: Jimmy look! That's what you were afraid of!
[Loon call]
DESCRIPTION: Jimmy pops his head up and looks at the loon.
JIMMY Z: A duck?
KOKI: Looks like it.
JIMMY Z: What kind of duck?
DESCRIPTION: Koki shrugs.
KOKI: Dunno.
[Loon call]
KOKI: Cool!
JIMMY Z: Wow!
KOKI: I've never heard of a duck that sounds like that.
JIMMY Z: And look at its beak. It's pointy and sharp. Not very flat and duck-like.
DESCRIPTION: Back in the Tortuga, Aviva watches a livestream of the loon on a computer screen.
AVIVA: Wow! Beautiful creature. Well, whatever they are, send me a scan.
DESCRIPTION: Koki talks to Aviva on a tablet video call.
KOKI: You want to start on a new power suit invention, don't you?
AVIVA: I need to get busy on something while I wait!
KOKI: Scan is on its way!
DESCRIPTION: Koki holds out the tablet, and a yellow beam of light scans the loon.
[Scan buzzing]
AVIVA: The good thing is, we know what the eerie sound is now and that animal is definitely not causing the guys any trouble. Look at them. They're peaceful and nice!
JIMMY Z: Y-y-yeah...nice.
KOKI: Nothing to worry about with them.
DESCRIPTION: The loon swims beneath the water’s surface.
[Splash]
DESCRIPTION: Back underwater, Martin swims past rocks and plants.
MARTIN: Ahh, I love swimming powers. This'll get me back to the Tortuga, no problem.
[Splash]
DESCRIPTION: Martin pops his head above the water. Tortuga floats in the foggy distance.
MARTIN: Actually, this could take a while.
DESCRIPTION: Beside Martin, a loon appears on the surface.
MARTIN: Hmm? Hello there, nice day for a swim! Huh, wait a second, hold on… you look familiar.
[Gasps]
MARTIN: Of course!!! You're the kind of bird Bobber's gonna grow into. A loon!! Not a duck. Or a goose… He's a loon! Duck… Duck… Loon! Ha ha, totally different than a duck! Uh-oh. Don't chase me!
DESCRIPTION: Martin jumps over two ducks, then over the loon’s head. Suddenly, the loon locks its eyes onto Martin and swims after him underwater.
[Splash]
DESCRIPTION: Underwater, the loon uses its long legs to chase Martin. Martin dodges rocks and water plants and hides under a submerged log.
MARTIN: Sorry, nobody's calling you a duck! I know that in fact, a loon is more closely related to a penguin, than a duck! Aah!! And just like them, you're a fish hunter! But I'm not a tasty bass, I'm Martin!
DESCRIPTION: Ahead of Martin is a school of fish swimming at him.
MARTIN: Aah!! Uh-oh... a school of sunfish. Swim, everybody, swim! Loon on the loose! Whoa! You loon's are expert swimmers.
[Dramatic music]
DESCRIPTION: The school breaks apart, and the loon instead starts to chase a sunfish. The loon grabs the sunfish in its beak and comes up for air. The loon swallows the sunfish whole.
MARTIN: Whoa, she got one. Tortuga, here I come.
DESCRIPTION: Martin swims away. Later, Chris swims beside Bobber.
CHRIS: I know there are lots of loons living on a lake like this, but don't worry, we're on it! We'll find your parents!
DESCRIPTION: Bobber’s eyes droop, and they lower their head.
CHRIS: Oh, you look tired! Here, I'll push you. I get that, like other animals, you're precocious. You can swim pretty much right after you're born. But you're still a little guy that needs some rest. Hm?...Bubbles?
DESCRIPTION: Underwater, a snapping turtle lies on the ground. It begins to swim towards Chris and Bobber.
[Bubbles burbling]
[Splash]
[Dramatic music]
DESCRIPTION: Chris looks underwater and spots the snapping turtle.
[Gasp]
CHRIS: Danger alert! Snappers will eat loon chicks. Pull them right under!
DESCRIPTION: Chris swims underwater and puts himself between the snapping turtle and Bobber. Suddenly, an adult loon swims by and pecks the turtle. The turtle swims away.
CHRIS: Whew, that was close! Thanks for the assist!
[Upbeat music]
DESCRIPTION: Two loons swim beside Chris and Bobber.
CHRIS: Hey... could you be… are you... Bobber's parents?
DESCRIPTION: Two baby loons appear with the adult loons; they are sitting on the back of one of the adults.
CHRIS: Oh, never mind. Those are your babies. Usually no more than two babies for loons. I love the loon-back riding thing! What a great way to keep chicks warm and rested and protected! We need to get you protected like that. Oh! I have an idea...
[Upbeat music]
DESCRIPTION: Back at Tortuga, a video of a loon plays on a computer screen. Koki and Jimmy Z watch the video.
KOKI: Yup, it's a loon!
DESCRIPTION: On a worktable, Aviva is building a large metal loon.
AVIVA: And check it out! I've already incorporated the hydrodynamic body shape of the loon into the prototype. Meaning, it can slice through the water easily. Like a torpedo. Very penguin-like.
DESCRIPTION: Aviva plays a video of a loon swimming underwater. She tries placing the metal loon legs in different places on the loon machine.
AVIVA: Hmm… and their legs are positioned so far back on their bodies. Not up here, but way back here. So, the legs power the bird forward from the back. That's a good design for power and steering.
KOKI: Aviva! Don't forget the loon's red eyes.
AVIVA: Got it! I did some tests and the eye color is caused by a special pigment that makes them bright red in the spring and summer.
JIMMY Z: But why red? Like some kind of… laser beam eyes!
AVIVA: Nobody really knows. Probably has something to do with looking good for mates.
KOKI: Well, there's no doubt they look good. I love those red eyes.
MARTIN: Help!
DESCRIPTION: Martin jumps up around Koki and Jimmy’s canoe.
[Water splashing]
JIMMY Z: It's Martin!
MARTIN: Help!
[Water splashing]
DESCRIPTION: A loon jumps behind Martin.
MARTIN: HELP!!!
[Water splashing]
MARTIN: Uuh... aaah!!
KOKI: C'mon, Martin!
MARTIN: Heeeellpp!
[Water splashing]
DESCRIPTION: Martin jumps aboard the canoe.
MARTIN: Get me outta here!
KOKI: Sorry loon, we know this guy. We'll take it from here. Aviva, we've got Martin, We're bringing him in.
AVIVA: Great! Perfect timing!
MARTIN: [sighs] It's tough being a fish with loons around. Ahh…
DESCRIPTION: Martin lays down on the floor of the canoe and sighs.
DESCRIPTION: Back on the lake, Chris has constructed an adult loon out of sticks, with red berries for eyes. Bobber sits on the log-loon’s back, and Chris swims and pushes it forward.
CHRIS: So, what do you think? Do you like the raft, Bobber? I made it as comfy as I could. But I know it's not as comfy as your mom or dad's back.
DESCRIPTION: Two loons sit on a pile of sticks. One of the loons stands up to reveal two loon eggs.
CHRIS: Hey, look! A loon nest. Could these be your parents? Aw, nope. Two eggs, about to hatch. No wonder loon nests are only steps from the water.
DESCRIPTION: The loons switch places on top of the eggs. They walk slowly and awkwardly.
CHRIS: Loons are so awkward at walking on land. It's those legs that are so far back. Bad for land… good for water. Makes sense to build the nest where there's a quick escape to the water, in case predators show up. Yeah, loon parents share lots of duties of raising chicks. Don't worry Bobber, your parents are still out there, and we're gonna find them.
DESCRIPTION: Back at Tortuga, Martin swims around a fishtank.
MARTIN: Hurry, Aviva! We gotta get back out there and find Chris fast! And it's not easy being little-fish-size out there!
DESCRIPTION: Aviva pulls up diagrams of loons on the computer.
AVIVA: On it! This suit will help. You'll be able to search the lake on the surface, underwater, and, from the air, with loon power.
MARTIN: Yeah, okay, great! But taking off in the air is harder, because unlike most birds, loons have heavy bones for diving underwater.
DESCRIPTION: A video plays of a loon taking off into flight; it needs a long runway and must flap its wings at high speed. An X-ray of a loon reveals its bone density.
AVIVA: All set, print loon creature power disc, mini-sized! Okay, Martin! Want to trade bass swimming power for loon swimming power?
DESCRIPTION: Aviva hands Martin a small, yellow token with a loon engraved on it.
MARTIN: Oh yeah!! Let's get looney!! Insert Loon Power Disc.
DESCRIPTION: Martin puts the disc in his vest.
KOKI: I've got a loon feather.
DESCRIPTION: Martin touches the loon feather that Koki holds up.
MARTIN: Great! Touch loon feather… And activate Loon Power!
[Exciting music]
DESCRIPTION: Black and blue feathers, long legs with webbed feet, and a sharp blue beak replace Martin’s fish suit.
Loon Power!
[Laughs]
DESCRIPTION: Martin does an underwater somersault before jumping out of the pool.
MARTIN: I am looney for loon power!
AVIVA/KOKI: Amazing!
JIMMY Z: Wow!
DESCRIPTION: Martin tries walking on his new loon legs, but be stumbles and falls.
MARTIN: Now, I'll go find Chris! Whoo...uh...oh...
[Thud]
MARTIN: Oh! Yup, hard to walk on land.
[Chuckles]
MARTIN: A little help here?
AVIVA/KOKI: [Laughter]
AVIVA: Let's get you out there.
DESCRIPTION: Back in the lake, Chris pushes the log-loon and Bobber.
[Loon-like call]
CHRIS: Huh, that sounds like a loon,
[Loon-like call]
CHRIS: but with a little jersey accent.
[Gasps]
DESCRIPTION: In the distance, a loon swims towards Chris.
CHRIS: Martin! We're saved! Over here!
[Bubbles burbling]
DESCRIPTION: Suddenly, bubbles appear under Chris. A massive moose rises out of the water, balancing the log-loon and Chris on its head.
CHRIS: What?! Moose?! Um, excuse me… We're in the middle of a creature rescue, if you could just…
DESCRIPTION: The moose lowers back into the water.
CHRIS: whoa, thanks! Whew, that was close.
DESCRIPTION: Martin waves at Chris with his wing.
MARTIN: Hey, bro, I'm coming!
CHRIS: He's got loon power!
DESCRIPTION: A shadow appears above Martin. It’s a bald eagle! It has brown feathers, a white head, and a yellow beak.
CHRIS: Uh-oh, bald eagle! Probably the most feared loon predator of all!
DESCRIPTION: The bald eagle swoops down towards Chris and the log-loon. With its talons outstretched, it grabs the wooden loon.
MARTIN: I didn't make it in time!
MARTIN/CHRIS: Noooo!
DESCRIPTION: At the last minute, Chris grabs Bobber and hangs onto the wooden loon.
CHRIS: Hit the deck!
[Splash]
MARTIN: Chris! Bobber!
DESCRIPTION: As the bald eagle flies away, Chris and Bobber are hanging on the bottom of the wooden loon.
CHRIS: Whoaaaa!! Hang tight, Bobber!
MARTIN: Taking flight isn't the loon's forte, but I gotta try!
[Lift-off grunts]
MARTIN: Attempting lift off!
DESCRIPTION: Martin flaps his wings quickly and uses his legs to run across the water. He scrunches his face with effort.
[Struggles]
MARTIN: If I could just get… enough... speed! No wonder loons need a long runway!
[Struggle]
MARTIN: C'mon... c'mon…
DESCRIPTION: Back at Tortuga, Aviva, Jimmy Z, and Kiko watch Martin over a video player.
AVIVA: C'mon... c'mon… c'mon...!
MARTIN: [lift off efforts/struggle]
MARTIN: Ah, ah, ah… We have lift ooooooff! Uh-oh... Mayday!!
DESCRIPTION: Martin lifts off the water, but the moose stands in his way.
AVIVA/KOKI/JIMMY Z: Flap, Martin, flap!
MARTIN: Gotta... get... higher!! Whoohoohoo! I did it! I'm airborne!
DESCRIPTION: Martin flies over the moose's head! On the wooden loon, Chris scrunches his face with effort as he holds Bobber tightly.
CHRIS: [struggles] Ah… I can't hold them anymore!
DESCRIPTION: Chris’s fingers pop off the wooden loon.
[bing - bing - bing]
CHRIS: We gotta bail!... Now! Whooooaaaaaa!!! Oof…
DESCRIPTION: Chris and Bobber fall from the sky. Martin swoops down and catches them midair.
MARTIN: Gotcha!
CHRIS: [sighs] Soft landing! Thanks, bro!
MARTIN: [chuckles] No problem. Now let's see if I can bring us down on the water. Ooh, look! What a landing!
DESCRIPTION: Martin watches a loon gracefully land in the water.
MARTIN: Aha! Ooh. [chuckles] I can do that. Ooh... uhh... got it! Ups! Uh-oh.
DESCRIPTION: Martin rocks back and forth and lands face down in the water with a big splash. Chris and Bobber fall from his back.
CHRIS: Whooa! Ugh! [spits water]
MARTIN: Whoaaaa! [splash] Glo-glo-glo-glo...
MARTIN: I'm okay.
DESCRIPTION: Back in Tortuga, the team cheers.
AVIVA: Wahoooo!
JIMMY Z: What a rescue!
KOKI: Everybody is safe.
CHRIS: [chuckles] Not the smoothest loon landing bro, but ya' got it done!
[Repeating bird call]
DESCRIPTION: From behind some plants, two adult loons swim by. Bobber flaps their wings and swims to them.
CHRIS: [gasp] Is it...? Your parents?
[Chirp chirp]
MARTIN: Could it be?
[chick chirping]
DESCRIPTION: The loons swim over to Bobber and nuzzle next to them.
MARTIN: It is! Bobber's parents!
CHRIS: We did it! We found them!
MARTIN: Phew!...Yeah!
DESCRIPTION: Aviva, Kiko, and Jimmy Z paddle their canoe next to Martin and Chris.
AVIVA: Awwww!
JIMMY Z: Alright!
KOKI: So cute!
CHRIS: Aww. Safe and sound.
DESCRIPTION: One of the loons ducks underwater and catches a small fish that they feed to Bobber.
[Splash]
MARTIN: Oh, a little baby food - loon style.
AVIVA: Awww. I love how they feed their chicks.
DESCRIPTION: Martin ducks underwater and reemerges with a small fish.
[Splash]
MARTIN: I have one for you too! There you go. [chuckles]
DESCRIPTION: Martin gives the fish to Bobber.
[Splash]
KOKI: So great! Everything's back to normal.
CHRIS: Yeah, except us!
MARTIN: Yeah, a snapping turtle broke the Miniaturizer, and then an otter stole it.
CHRIS: Without that Miniaturizer, we're stuck mini-sized. Forever!
AVIVA: Ok, that's bad.
DESCRIPTION: An otter swims by. In its mouth is a metal disc.
JIMMY Z: Um, is that the otter you're looking for?
CHRIS: Hey, Slider! That's ours!
DESCRIPTION: Slider’s eyes widen, he ducks under water.
MARTIN: To the Miniaturizer Rescue!
DESCRIPTION: Martin jumps underwater, making Chris fall off his back.
CHRIS: Aaah! Pff! Go, Martin!
AVIVA: Hey, Chris?
DESCRIPTION: Aviva holds up a small gold disc and hands it to Chris.
AVIVA: Two looney brothers are better than one.
CHRIS: Thanks, Aviva.
[Upbeat music]
DESCRIPTION: Martin swims after Slider, who holds the Miniaturizer in his paws.
[Swimming grunts]
MARTIN: Oh, you wanna play keep-away?
[Adventurous music]
MARTIN: Well, don't mess with Loon Powers!
[Tense music]
DESCRIPTION: Suddenly, a glowing, green loon swipes the Miniaturizer from Slider.
CHRIS: I'll take that!
MARTIN: Haha, nice one, Chris! Go, go, go, goooo!
DESCRIPTION: Slider chases after Chris, who holds the Miniaturizer in his beak.
CHRIS: Oh no, you don't. Woohoo! [chuckles] You're good. Gotta get this back to the boat.
DESCRIPTION: Martin swims beside Chris and takes the Miniaturizer. They swim back and forth, evading Slider as they pass the Miniaturizer between them.
MARTIN: Hand off!
CHRIS: Swim, Martin! Whew, got it, bro!
MARTIN: Come and get it. Back to you!
CHRIS: Thanks.
MARTIN: Hey, sorry bud, too slow.
[Tense music]
MARTIN: He's gaining on us! C'mon loon powers, swim like a loon!
CHRIS: There it is, the boat! Oh! He's right on my heels, I mean webbed feet.
DESCRIPTION: Chris swims towards the boat, with Slider right behind him.
MARTIN: Go, Chris!
CHRIS: Aviva..catch!
DESCRIPTION: Chris throws the Miniaturizer to Aviva.
[Effort/splash]
AVIVA: Got it…
DESCRIPTION: Aviva catches the Miniaturizer, but nearly falls out of the boat! Jimmy catches her.
AVIVA: [Balancing effort] Whooooaaa!! Whooooaa!
JIMMY Z: Aviva! Gotcha!
AVIVA: Yes!
KOKI: Touchdown!
[Splash]
DESCRIPTION: Slider, Martin, and Chris float beside the canoe. Slider swims away, and Chris and Martin high-five.
MARTIN: [chuckles] Good game, Slider! Whew, high wing!
CHRIS: Yeah, we needed that win.
DESCRIPTION: Back at Tortuga, Kiko and Jimmy Z have their feet in the water. Chris and Martin are both back in their miniature human forms and are talking to Bobber.
CHRIS: Well, that's mission accomplished. We got you safely back to your parents, Bobber.
[Happy chirps]
MARTIN: And we got to see what it's like to have the amazing swimming power of the loon.
[Bobber splashes]
CHRIS: You'll be perfecting those diving skills soon, buddy.
DESCRIPTION: Bobber’s parents swim beside the brothers.
[Splash]...[Splash]
CHRIS: And, you know, being a loon parent isn't easy, but it's fun.
[Loon call]
JIMMY Z: I can't believe I was afraid of that sound at first, but now that I know them, they're my favorite duck. I mean, not a duck. A water bird. A loon!
[Quack-quack-quack]
DESCRIPTION: Two ducks swim by Tortuga.
MARTIN: Duck...
CHRIS: Duck...
MARTIN/CHRIS: Loon!
DESCRIPTION: Bobber’s parent loon flaps its wings.
AVIVA: Ok guys. It's fixed. Expand Miniaturizer!
DESCRIPTION: Aviva tosses the metal disc to the ground. The Miniaturizer expands into a large platform.
[Humming/buzzing]
DESCRIPTION: Kiko places Martin and Chris onto the platform.
MARTIN/CHRIS: Big Size!
[whirring/buzzing]
DESCRIPTION: Chris and Martin return to their normal sizes.
CHRIS: [chuckles]
MARTIN: Yes!
MARTIN/CHRIS: Back to normal!
[humming/buzzing]
DESCRIPTION: The Miniaturizer shrinks down in size.
AVIVA: Now be careful with that Miniaturizer, okay, guys?
MARTIN/CHRIS: Of course!
DESCRIPTION: Behind them, Slider scoops up the Miniaturizer and swims away.
AVIVA: [gasps]
AVIVA/CHRIS: Nooooo!!!
KOKI/JIMMY Z: Not again!
DESCRIPTION: Chris and Martin dive into the water after Slider.
[Loon call]
[Upbeat music]
DESCRIPTION: In live-action, Martin and Chris continue their kayak ride.
CHRIS: So the loon is a special and unique water bird, in a group all its own.
MARTIN: Loons have incredible swimming powers! They look really cool with that black and white pattern and those striking red eyes.
DESCRIPTION: Various videos play of loons swimming.
CHRIS: Loon, 12 o'clock.
DESCRIPTION: A loon swims in front of Chris and Martin.
MARTIN: Ooh… If loons look familiar to you, that's because they're related to an animal you know really well. Yeah, loons are related to penguins! Much more closely than they are to ducks. Loons are amazing swimmers. They catch fish so easily. And they'll even grab a crayfish. And down they go.
DESCRIPTION: A video shows a penguin swimming in a manner similar to a loon. Various videos show loons swimming.
CHRIS: They swim underwater like torpedoes. Catching the fish between their beak. Or they even spear it. And when they eat 'em, they eat 'em whole, straight down the hatch.
DESCRIPTION: A loon swallows a crayfish whole.
MARTIN: Hey!
[Water splashing]
DESCRIPTION: Two loons lock beaks together and flap their wings aggressively. Water splashes all around them as they spin around. A third loon flies down beside them.
MARTIN: Whoa, they're locking beaks. That's a loon fight! Two female loons fighting over territory. And a male comes in to check out the action. Oh that's called the penguin dance. The way a loon says, "get out of here!" Pretty cool.
DESCRIPTION: A baby loon swims beside its parent—various videos play of loons building their nests.
CHRIS: This loon chick is only a few days old and right when they hatch, the loon chicks hit the water, with their mother and their father. Father's back there, mother right here. And they stick close to their parents for protection, to stay warm and safe and for food. And check it out. Just on the edge of the lily pads up there, is a loon nest. Loons build their nests very close to the water's edge, so that they have an escape to the water if any predators come by. A pair of loons takes turns sitting on one or two eggs for about 30 days until the eggs hatch. And then, when the chicks are born, it's straight for the water. They're in the water on their first day.
[Haunting loon call]
CHRIS: So, if you ever hear that sound, you're in loon country!
MARTIN: Keep on creature adventuring.
CHRIS: We'll see you on the creature trail!
DESCRIPTION: Chris and Martin kayak away.

MARTIN: A little help here?
AVIVA/KOKI: [Laughter]
AVIVA: Let's get you out there.
DESCRIPTION: Back in the lake, Chris pushes the log-loon and Bobber.
[Loon-like call]
CHRIS: Huh, that sounds like a loon,
[Loon-like call]
CHRIS: but with a little jersey accent.
[Gasps]
DESCRIPTION: In the distance, a loon swims towards Chris.
CHRIS: Martin! We're saved! Over here!
[Bubbles burbling]

CHRIS: What?! Moose?! Um, excuse me… We're in the middle of a creature rescue, if you could just…

CHRIS: whoa, thanks! Whew, that was close.
DESCRIPTION: Martin waves at Chris with his wing.
MARTIN: Hey, bro, I'm coming!
CHRIS: He's got loon power!

CHRIS: Uh-oh, bald eagle! Probably the most feared loon predator of all!

MARTIN: I didn't make it in time!

CHRIS: [gasp] Is it...? Your parents?
[Chirp chirp]
MARTIN: Could it be?
[chick chirping]
DESCRIPTION: The loons swim over to Bobber and nuzzle next to them.
MARTIN: It is! Bobber's parents!
CHRIS: We did it! We found them!
MARTIN: Phew!...Yeah!
DESCRIPTION: Aviva, Kiko, and Jimmy Z paddle their canoe next to Martin and Chris.
AVIVA: Awwww!
JIMMY Z: Alright!
KOKI: So cute!
CHRIS: Aww. Safe and sound.

[Splash]
MARTIN: Oh, a little baby food - loon style.
AVIVA: Awww. I love how they feed their chicks.

MARTIN: Go, Chris!
CHRIS: Aviva..catch!

[Effort/splash]
AVIVA: Got it…
