Her two-year-old brother Iggy chases Gatita, a fluffy white cat. Rosie’s Papa, Marco, who has short brown hair, chases Iggy. Rosie’s mom, Liz, stands with an arm around the shoulders of Rosie’s 12-year-old half-sister, Crystal. Crystal’s blonde hair is in a ponytail with a pink streak in the front.
[Song] Rosie has a lot that she wants to know.

DESCRIPTION: Rosie’s Abuela catches an envelope. Abuela has long brown hair and sits on a couch. Gatita pops out of the envelope. In a grocery store, Rosie pushes an empty cart, then bounces into outer space on a pogo stick.

[Ball thumps, Javi grunts, Crystal inhales deeply, whistle blares, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: On a soccer field, Crystal holds a whistle while coaching Javi’s team. Javi and his teammates wear orange jerseys and dark grey shorts. Javi bounces the soccer ball on his knee, then passes it to a black-haired girl, who kicks it to a girl with long brown hair. To the side, a black-haired boy stretches.
CRYSTAL: Okay, team, we've got our orange shirts. We're all warmed up. Are we ready to play a great soccer game?
JAVI: Yes, Coach Crystal. I'm so ready!
[Bird sings, the music stops]
ROSIE: I'm ready too!
CRYSTAL: Rosie, you're not on the team.
ROSIE: I know, but I'm ready to cheer.
[Energetic music plays]
ROSIE CHEERS: Chickity-boom, a la bim-boom-ba! Javi's team, Javi's team, ra-ra-ra.
[The music stops, Crystal laughs]
CRYSTAL: Awesome cheer, Rosie, but the game hasn't started yet.
[Light music notes play]
ROSIE: Oh. Rosie's rule. Sometimes you start cheering for your primo's team before it's time to cheer.
JAVI: ¡ Miren! The other team is here.
[Jun laughs]
DESCRIPTION: Jun arrives with the other team, who wear brown jerseys and dark grey shorts. A tall blonde-haired girl punches her right palm with her left fist. A girl with pigtails in buns crosses her arms, and a wavy-haired girl smiles.
[Crystal squees]
CRYSTAL: That means it's time to start the game. Oh.
[Crystal clears her throat]
CRYSTAL: Let's play some soccer!
[Whistle blares, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Crystal picks up the soccer ball as Javi’s team runs toward centre field. Crystal walks to Rosie on the sidelines.
CRYSTAL: Ooh, and guess what, Rosie?
ROSIE: What?
CRYSTAL: You can cheer now.
ROSIE: Woo-hoo!
[Energetic music plays]
ROSIE CHEERS: Chickity-boom, a la bim-boom-ba!
[Rosie laughs, whistle blares, ball thumps]
DESCRIPTION: In the game, the black-haired girl speed dribbles the soccer ball past the blonde-haired girl and the girl with pigtails.
JAVI: Pass it here!
OTHER PLAYERS: Over here! Yeah, I got it over here!
[Javi pants]
ROSIE: Javi's team is fast.
[Thump, whoosh, thumps, Jun pants, grunts]
DESCRIPTION: Javi passes the ball to the brown-haired girl. She kicks the ball towards the wavy-haired girl in goal, and Jun kicks it high into the air. Rosie watches the ball fly overhead.
ROSIE: Ah! And the other team is strong.
[Whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: The black-haired boy dives for the ball, and it bounces under him into the goal.
JUN: Oh, yeah!
BROWN TEAM CHEERS: Woo-hoo!
JAVI: Aw.
[Marker scratches]
DESCRIPTION: Crystal holds up a small whiteboard with the number zero below a drawing of an orange shirt and a one below a drawing of a brown shirt.
CRYSTAL: That's one point for the brown team.
GIRL WITH PIGTAILS: Yeah! All right!
[Hands slap]
DESCRIPTION: Jun and the girl with pigtails high-five.
CRYSTAL: Everyone get some water. Then head back to the field.
[Light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie runs to where Javi and the two girls drink from reusable water bottles by a cooler.
ROSIE: You're doing great, primo. Your team is super-duper fast.
JAVI: Gracias, but the other team is super-duper strong, and they just scored a goal. I wish our team could play better.
[Javi sighs, rustling]
DESCRIPTION: Javi runs back to the field.
ROSIE: Aw. I wish I could help Javi's team so they can play better, but how? I've gotta know.
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie dances.
ROSIE SINGS: I have a great big question. And I just can't let it go. Yo quiero saberla. I've really gotta know.
DESCRIPTION: Rosie twirls.
ROSIE: How can I help Javi's team play better? Maybe...
[Drumming, cymbals crashing, slide whistles, energetic music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, Rosie imagines banging cymbals as she marches behind drumming penguins. She throws the cymbals away and does a handstand. Rosie stands on a blue armchair and sings into a megaphone while the penguins hoist Javi in the air. She juggles flowers, then throws them into the air.
ROSIE SINGS: I'll play in a penguin marching band. Baile and dance on, then I'll do a handstand. I'll cheer super loud through a megaphone. While juggling flowers on top of a throne.
[Whooshing, the music ends]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie bows and the daydream ends. At the soccer field, she bows.
[Upbeat music plays]
ROSIE: Juggling flowers.
[Thump, grunting]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie runs and bumps into Quinn, who is wearing a bear costume and has face paint around his mouth, resembling a bear muzzle.
[The music stops]
QUINN: Excuse me.
ROSIE: Quinn
DESCRIPTION: Quinn waves.
QUINN: Hi, Rosie.
ROSIE: Why are you dressed up like a bear?
QUINN: I'm the mascot for the brown team.
[Light music plays]
ROSIE: Oh! What's a mascot?
QUINN: It's someone who wears a costume and cheers for their team to help them play better.
QUINN SHOUTS: Go, Strong Brown Bears! Roar!
[Jun grunts, thump]
DESCRIPTION: Quinn gives two thumbs up as Jun kicks the ball.
[Upbeat music notes play]
ROSIE: Wow-mazing! Wait a sec-a-ma-doodle.
[The music stops]
ROSIE: Maybe I can be a mascot for the orange team. Then I can help them play better.
[Energetic music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie dances.
ROSIE SINGS: Oh, yeah. Gonna be a mascot. Oh, yeah!
PLAYERS CHEER: Oh, yeah! All right! Yeah!
[Thump, Jun grunts, thump, upbeat music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: In the game, Jun kicks the ball and scores a goal.
JUN: Goal! Woo-hoo!

DESCRIPTION: Jun looks down at the ground. Beside Rosie and Quinn, Crystal holds up the whiteboard with the score 2 to zero for the brown team.
CRYSTAL: One more point for the brown team.
ROSIE: I gotta get a costume.
[Whoosh, upbeat music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: At home in the living room, Rosie runs to where Gatita is napping on the couch.
ROSIE: Gatita!
[Gatita yowls, bell rings]
DESCRIPTION: Gatita jumps to her feet.
ROSIE: Guess what. I'm gonna be a mascot for Javi's soccer team. I need to figure out what mascot I should be. Something that's fun, and exciting, and wow-mazing.
[Slide whistle, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie paces beside a bowl of cheesy popcorn on a table.
ROSIE: Ooh! Cheesy popcorn.
[Rustle, Rosie gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie picks up a piece of popcorn, then pauses.
ROSIE: Like cheesy popcorn! 'Cause cheesy popcorn is all of those things.
[Gatita meows, the music stops]
ROSIE: Gotta get my costume ready!
[Whoosh, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: On the soccer field, the black-haired girl dribbles the ball with Javi running beside her. She passes the ball to Javi, misses, and the girl with pigtails dribbles the ball back down the field.
PLAYERS CHEER: Yeah! Oh, yeah! Woo-hoo! Oh, yeah!
JAVI: Aw.
DESCRIPTION: Rosie arrives wearing her yellow rain hat, raincoat, and boots. She has crumpled pieces of paper with orange colouring on one side attached to her hat and coat.
ROSIE: Ta-da!
[The music stops]
CRYSTAL: Uh, Rosie, why are you dressed like cheesy popcorn?
[Light music notes play]
ROSIE: Because I'm the orange team's cheesy popcorn mascot! I'm gonna cheer for the team and help them play better.
[Energetic music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie jumps, and paper falls off her costume.
ROSIE CHEERS: Orange team, pop, pop, pop! Orange team, pop, pop, pop!
[Rustling, descending music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie chases crumpled paper.
ROSIE: Oops. Popcorn on the loose.
[Black-haired girl grunts, thump, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie picks up crumpled paper at the side of the field as the black-haired girl dribbles the soccer ball past.
ROSIE: Sorry! Just getting my popcorn.
[Thump]
DESCRIPTION: Jun kicks the ball across the field.
CHILDREN CHEER: Yay! Whoa, nice one! Yay! Good job!
DESCRIPTION: Jun and the orange team turn and chase the ball.
JAVI: Aw, man.
ROSIE: Oh. I don't think my cheesy popcorn mascot is helping them play better. But what other mascot can I be? I need to call Abuela.
[Rustling, beep, chime, upbeat music plays, Abuela pants]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie puts out her hand, and Crystal gives her a smartphone. Rosie taps the Abuela icon and video calls her. On the smartphone screen, Abuela pumps her arms as she walks with two women.
ROSIE: Hola, Abuela.
ABUELA: Hola, mi niña. I'm power walking with Lili and Vero.
DESCRIPTION: Abuela stops walking.
ABUELA: Are you dressed like popcorn?
[Light music plays]
ROSIE: Ese es. I wanna be a mascot for Javi's team, but cheesy popcorn is not helping them play better.
ABUELA: Ya veo. Mira, Rosalia. A team mascot is a symbol for that team.
ROSIE: A symbol? Got it. Adios, Abuela.
[Chiming]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie waves and ends the call. She runs, then returns and taps the smartphone screen.
ABUELA: Hola, again.
ROSIE: What's a symbol?
[Light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: On the smartphone screen, Abuela smiles. She lifts her heart necklace towards the camera on her phone.
ABUELA: A symbol is something that stands for something else, like this heart necklace. It stands for love. So, your mascot should stand for what's special about Javi's team.
[Abuela gasps]
ABUELA: Ay!
DESCRIPTION: Abuela speedwalks.
ABUELA: They're walking faster now. Adios, granito de arroz.
DESCRIPTION: Rosie waves.
ROSIE: Ciao, bacalao.
[Phone chimes]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie ends the call.
ROSIE: Hm. What's something special about Javi's team?
[Tapping]
DESCRIPTION: Crystal takes her smartphone and puts it in her pocket.
CRYSTAL: Come on, orange team! You can do this!
[Thump]
DESCRIPTION: The brown-haired girl dribbles the ball across the field, with Javi and the black-haired girl running beside her.
ROSIE: Javi's team is orange. That's special. So, I can be an orange mascot. Be right back, Crystal. Again!
[Gatita snores, light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: At home, Gatita sleeps under the kitchen table, and Rosie wakes her.
ROSIE: Gatita!
[Gatita meows]
ROSIE: New idea. Javi's on the orange team. So, I'm gonna be an orange mascot.
[Gatita meows]
ROSIE: Now, what is orange?
[Tap, thump]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie looks at toys scattered on the floor and picks up a pumpkin toy. Rosie drops a tablecloth on Gatita’s nose and runs across the kitchen.
ROSIE: Eso es! I'll be an orange pumpkin. Gotta make another costume, Gatita!
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: During the soccer game, the black-haired girl dribbles the ball down the field with Javi running nearby. Rosie stands on the sidelines, wearing a green pumpkin stalk hat and a hand-drawn cardboard orange pumpkin costume.
ROSIE: Ta-da!
JAVI: Prima?
[Light music plays]
ROSIE: That's me. I'm Rosie, the pumpkin mascot.
[The music stops]
JAVI: A pumpkin?
ROSIE: Uh-huh. Your team is orange, and I'm a symbol of your team. Got it?
JAVI: I really don't.
ROSIE: Don't worry. Once I start to cheer for you as a pumpkin, you'll play so much better.
[Footsteps rustle, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Javi runs back onto the field, and Rosie jumps.
ROSIE CHEERS: Pump, pump, pump, orange pumpkin! Pump, pump, pump, orange pumpkin!
ROSIE: Whoa, whoa, whoa, falling!
DESCRIPTION: Rosie stumbles back and trips over the cooler.
CRYSTAL: You okay, Rosie?
[Light music plays]
ROSIE: Yep, I'm A-okay. Did it work? Did it help the orange team play better?
[Ball thumps, footsteps rustle]
DESCRIPTION: The brown-haired girl passes the ball toward Javi, and the girl with pigtails intercepts it and kicks it back down the field.
CRYSTAL: Ay, no.
JAVI: Aw.
ROSIE: No?
[Rosie sighs, tense music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie paces.
ROSIE: I just wanted to be a mascot and help Javi's team play better, but nothing is working, and...
ROSIE: I need to flop.
[Thump, Rosie grunts, light music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie flops down on her back.
ROSIE: Rosie's rule. When you're a pumpkin, it's really hard to flop.
[Grunts, thump]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie struggles to sit up, then flops back on her back.
[Light music plays]
ROSIE: Breathe in.
[Inhales deeply]
ROSIE: Breathe out.
[Exhales]
ROSIE: Wiggle about.
[Rustling, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie wiggles, then stands.
ROSIE: Now, I'm ready to figure this out. Vamos a ver!
[Players shout, whistle blares]
DESCRIPTION: On the field, the orange team runs past Crystal.
CRYSTAL: Come on, orange team. Show them how fast you are!
DESCRIPTION: Rosie runs to Crystal and watches the orange team run past the brown team.
ROSIE: Javi's team is orange and they're super fast, so maybe my mascot should be something orange and fast too.
[Rosie gasps, playful music plays]
ROSIE: I've got it! I'll be right back.
DESCRIPTION: Rosie speedwalks away from Crystal, pumping her arms as she walks.
ROSIE: So hard running as a pumpkin.
[Whoosh, triumphant music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Later, Rosie returns wearing cheetah ears on a headband and an orange coat with black crumpled paper balls attached. Javi drinks from his water bottle, and the black-haired girl stands nearby with her shoulders slumped.
ROSIE: Ta-da!
JAVI: Wow! A cheetah!
ROSIE: See, Javi? I'm a cheetah mascot, because cheetahs are orange, and super fast, just like your team. Roar!
JAVI: Que padre! That makes me wanna... Roar!
[Descending piano notes play]
ROSIE AND ORANGE TEAM: Roar!
[Everyone laughs]
DESCRIPTION: Crystal arrives.
CRYSTAL: Okay, team, the game's almost over, and the brown team's winning by two points.

DESCRIPTION: Javi and the team run onto the soccer field.
JAVI: Come on, orange team. We're gonna play like fast, orange cheetahs.
ROSIE: Go, go, go, orange team!
[Thumping, blonde-haired girl gasps, Jun gasps, wavy-haired girl grunts]
DESCRIPTION: During the game, Javi dribbles the ball with the blonde-haired girl running behind him. His teammate, the brown-haired girl, runs beside him. He passes her the ball, and she kicks it towards the goal. Jun and the wavy-haired girl miss the ball, and it bounces into the goal.
ORANGE TEAM: All right! Woo-hoo!
ROSIE: Go, go, go!
[Jun grunts, ball thumps, brown-haired girl grunts]
DESCRIPTION: Crystal holds up the scoreboard, with the updated one-to-two score. On the field, Jun kicks the soccer ball, and the brown-haired girl dribbles it towards the brown team’s goal.
ROSIE: Go, go, roar!
DESCRIPTION: On the field, the black-haired girl dribbles the ball.
BLACK-HAIRED GIRL: Ooh!
[Wavy-haired girl grunts, orange team cheers, laughs, marker squeaks]
DESCRIPTION: The black-haired girl scores a goal. Crystal holds up the scoreboard with the score tied two-two.
CRYSTAL: One minute left, everybody.
ROSIE CHEERS: Woo-hoo! Go, orange cheetahs! Roar!
[Javi pants, upbeat music continues, ball thumps]
DESCRIPTION: Javi runs on the field. A player passes the ball to Javi.
JAVI: Roar. Over here! I've got it.
[Wavy-haired girl grunts, net rustles, orange team cheers, whistle blares, marker squeaks]
DESCRIPTION: Javi passes the soccer ball to the black-haired girl, and she scores a goal. Crystal writes the score, three to two for the orange team, on the scoreboard.
CRYSTAL: Game over! Orange team wins!
[Hands slap]
DESCRIPTION: Javi and the brown-haired girl high-five, and the orange team jumps excitedly.
BROWN-HAIRED GIRL: I knew we could do it.
JAVI: We won!
JUN: Great game, guys.
ROSIE: Hurray, orange team!
CRYSTAL: Amazing, Rosie! Your orange cheetah mascot helped the team play better and they won.
[The music stops, footsteps patter]
JAVI: Hey, maybe we should call our team "The Speedy Cheetahs."
ROSIE CHEERS: iIórale!
CRYSTAL: The Speedy Cheetahs!
[Light music plays]
CRYSTAL, ROSIE, AND JAVI: Roar!
[Everyone laughs, chiming, energetic music plays]
DESCRIPTION: A grid of symbols appears, including a dollar sign, a heart, the moon, the sun, a star, a person walking, a clover, an open book, and a fire. Rosie appears, opening the book symbol like a window. She grabs the star and flies. Rosie picks up a magnifying glass from the matching symbol.
ROSIE SINGS: Symbols are like pictures; they have meaning too. When I see a symbol, it's like finding a clue.
DESCRIPTION: Javi holds a red heart.
JAVI: Corazon?
ROSIE: A symbol for love.
DESCRIPTION: A green clover spins and a yellow star appears. Symbols cover the star, and Rosie appears in the middle. Dollar signs appear, then colourful balloons float upwards. At night, the crescent moon glows among the twinkling stars, and during the day, the sun blazes in the blue sky.
ROSIE SINGS: A clover stands for luck, and a star means well done. Symbols all around. Can you find one? Dollar signs for money, balloons for party fun. A moon stands for the nighttime, for day we show the sun.
JAVI: iEl sol!
DESCRIPTION: A grey cloud covers the sun, and it rains. Rosie and Javi gesture at a campfire symbol. It spins, changes into a knife and fork, then into a book.
ROSIE SINGS: A cloud's a sign for rain, a fire shows that something burns. A knife and fork for eating, a book means read and learn.
JAVI: iUn libro! I love books.
DESCRIPTION: A dollar sign, a heart, a star, a smiley face, and a clover bounce above Rosie’s head. On the grid, Rosie examines the moon symbol through her magnifying glass. She holds a clover in her right hand and a star in her left. On the grid, Rosie moves from symbol to symbol.

DESCRIPTION: On a soccer field, Crystal holds a whistle while coaching Javi’s team. Javi and his teammates wear orange jerseys and dark grey shorts. Javi bounces the soccer ball on his knee, then passes it to a black-haired girl, who kicks it to a girl with long brown hair. To the side, a black-haired boy stretches.
CRYSTAL: Okay, team, we've got our orange shirts. We're all warmed up. Are we ready to play a great soccer game?
JAVI: Yes, Coach Crystal. I'm so ready!
[Bird sings, the music stops]
ROSIE: I'm ready too!
CRYSTAL: Rosie, you're not on the team.
ROSIE: I know, but I'm ready to cheer.
[Energetic music plays]
ROSIE CHEERS: Chickity-boom, a la bim-boom-ba! Javi's team, Javi's team, ra-ra-ra.
[The music stops, Crystal laughs]
CRYSTAL: Awesome cheer, Rosie, but the game hasn't started yet.
[Light music notes play]
ROSIE: Oh. Rosie's rule. Sometimes you start cheering for your primo's team before it's time to cheer.
JAVI: ¡ Miren! The other team is here.
[Jun laughs]
DESCRIPTION: Jun arrives with the other team, who wear brown jerseys and dark grey shorts. A tall blonde-haired girl punches her right palm with her left fist. A girl with pigtails in buns crosses her arms, and a wavy-haired girl smiles.
[Crystal squees]
CRYSTAL: That means it's time to start the game. Oh.
[Crystal clears her throat]
CRYSTAL: Let's play some soccer!
[Whistle blares, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Crystal picks up the soccer ball as Javi’s team runs toward centre field. Crystal walks to Rosie on the sidelines.
CRYSTAL: Ooh, and guess what, Rosie?
ROSIE: What?
CRYSTAL: You can cheer now.
ROSIE: Woo-hoo!
[Energetic music plays]
ROSIE CHEERS: Chickity-boom, a la bim-boom-ba!
[Rosie laughs, whistle blares, ball thumps]
DESCRIPTION: In the game, the black-haired girl speed dribbles the soccer ball past the blonde-haired girl and the girl with pigtails.
JAVI: Pass it here!
OTHER PLAYERS: Over here! Yeah, I got it over here!
[Javi pants]
ROSIE: Javi's team is fast.
[Thump, whoosh, thumps, Jun pants, grunts]
DESCRIPTION: Javi passes the ball to the brown-haired girl. She kicks the ball towards the wavy-haired girl in goal, and Jun kicks it high into the air. Rosie watches the ball fly overhead.
ROSIE: Ah! And the other team is strong.
[Whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: The black-haired boy dives for the ball, and it bounces under him into the goal.
JUN: Oh, yeah!
BROWN TEAM CHEERS: Woo-hoo!
JAVI: Aw.
[Marker scratches]
DESCRIPTION: Crystal holds up a small whiteboard with the number zero below a drawing of an orange shirt and a one below a drawing of a brown shirt.
CRYSTAL: That's one point for the brown team.
GIRL WITH PIGTAILS: Yeah! All right!
[Hands slap]
DESCRIPTION: Jun and the girl with pigtails high-five.
CRYSTAL: Everyone get some water. Then head back to the field.
[Light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie runs to where Javi and the two girls drink from reusable water bottles by a cooler.
ROSIE: You're doing great, primo. Your team is super-duper fast.
JAVI: Gracias, but the other team is super-duper strong, and they just scored a goal. I wish our team could play better.
[Javi sighs, rustling]
DESCRIPTION: Javi runs back to the field.
ROSIE: Aw. I wish I could help Javi's team so they can play better, but how? I've gotta know.
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie dances.
ROSIE SINGS: I have a great big question. And I just can't let it go. Yo quiero saberla. I've really gotta know.
DESCRIPTION: Rosie twirls.
ROSIE: How can I help Javi's team play better? Maybe...
[Drumming, cymbals crashing, slide whistles, energetic music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, Rosie imagines banging cymbals as she marches behind drumming penguins. She throws the cymbals away and does a handstand. Rosie stands on a blue armchair and sings into a megaphone while the penguins hoist Javi in the air. She juggles flowers, then throws them into the air.
ROSIE SINGS: I'll play in a penguin marching band. Baile and dance on, then I'll do a handstand. I'll cheer super loud through a megaphone. While juggling flowers on top of a throne.
[Whooshing, the music ends]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie bows and the daydream ends. At the soccer field, she bows.
[Upbeat music plays]
ROSIE: Juggling flowers.
[Thump, grunting]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie runs and bumps into Quinn, who is wearing a bear costume and has face paint around his mouth, resembling a bear muzzle.
[The music stops]
QUINN: Excuse me.
ROSIE: Quinn
DESCRIPTION: Quinn waves.
QUINN: Hi, Rosie.
ROSIE: Why are you dressed up like a bear?
QUINN: I'm the mascot for the brown team.
[Light music plays]
ROSIE: Oh! What's a mascot?
QUINN: It's someone who wears a costume and cheers for their team to help them play better.
QUINN SHOUTS: Go, Strong Brown Bears! Roar!
[Jun grunts, thump]
DESCRIPTION: Quinn gives two thumbs up as Jun kicks the ball.
[Upbeat music notes play]
ROSIE: Wow-mazing! Wait a sec-a-ma-doodle.
[The music stops]
ROSIE: Maybe I can be a mascot for the orange team. Then I can help them play better.
[Energetic music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie dances.
ROSIE SINGS: Oh, yeah. Gonna be a mascot. Oh, yeah!
PLAYERS CHEER: Oh, yeah! All right! Yeah!
[Thump, Jun grunts, thump, upbeat music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: In the game, Jun kicks the ball and scores a goal.
JUN: Goal! Woo-hoo!
BLONDE-HAIRED GIRL: Oh, yeah!
[Hands slap]
DESCRIPTION: Jun high-fives the girl with pigtails.
GIRL WITH PIGTAILS: Great job, you guys!
BLONDE-HAIRED GIRL: Way to go, Jun!
[The music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Jun looks down at the ground. Beside Rosie and Quinn, Crystal holds up the whiteboard with the score 2 to zero for the brown team.
CRYSTAL: One more point for the brown team.
ROSIE: I gotta get a costume.
[Whoosh, upbeat music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: At home in the living room, Rosie runs to where Gatita is napping on the couch.
ROSIE: Gatita!
[Gatita yowls, bell rings]
DESCRIPTION: Gatita jumps to her feet.
ROSIE: Guess what. I'm gonna be a mascot for Javi's soccer team. I need to figure out what mascot I should be. Something that's fun, and exciting, and wow-mazing.
[Slide whistle, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie paces beside a bowl of cheesy popcorn on a table.
ROSIE: Ooh! Cheesy popcorn.
[Rustle, Rosie gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie picks up a piece of popcorn, then pauses.
ROSIE: Like cheesy popcorn! 'Cause cheesy popcorn is all of those things.
[Gatita meows, the music stops]
ROSIE: Gotta get my costume ready!
[Whoosh, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: On the soccer field, the black-haired girl dribbles the ball with Javi running beside her. She passes the ball to Javi, misses, and the girl with pigtails dribbles the ball back down the field.
PLAYERS CHEER: Yeah! Oh, yeah! Woo-hoo! Oh, yeah!
JAVI: Aw.
DESCRIPTION: Rosie arrives wearing her yellow rain hat, raincoat, and boots. She has crumpled pieces of paper with orange colouring on one side attached to her hat and coat.
ROSIE: Ta-da!
[The music stops]
CRYSTAL: Uh, Rosie, why are you dressed like cheesy popcorn?
[Light music notes play]
ROSIE: Because I'm the orange team's cheesy popcorn mascot! I'm gonna cheer for the team and help them play better.
[Energetic music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie jumps, and paper falls off her costume.
ROSIE CHEERS: Orange team, pop, pop, pop! Orange team, pop, pop, pop!
[Rustling, descending music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie chases crumpled paper.
ROSIE: Oops. Popcorn on the loose.
[Black-haired girl grunts, thump, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie picks up crumpled paper at the side of the field as the black-haired girl dribbles the soccer ball past.
ROSIE: Sorry! Just getting my popcorn.
[Thump]
DESCRIPTION: Jun kicks the ball across the field.
CHILDREN CHEER: Yay! Whoa, nice one! Yay! Good job!
DESCRIPTION: Jun and the orange team turn and chase the ball.
JAVI: Aw, man.
ROSIE: Oh. I don't think my cheesy popcorn mascot is helping them play better. But what other mascot can I be? I need to call Abuela.
[Rustling, beep, chime, upbeat music plays, Abuela pants]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie puts out her hand, and Crystal gives her a smartphone. Rosie taps the Abuela icon and video calls her. On the smartphone screen, Abuela pumps her arms as she walks with two women.
ROSIE: Hola, Abuela.
ABUELA: Hola, mi niña. I'm power walking with Lili and Vero.
DESCRIPTION: Abuela stops walking.
ABUELA: Are you dressed like popcorn?
[Light music plays]
ROSIE: Ese es. I wanna be a mascot for Javi's team, but cheesy popcorn is not helping them play better.
ABUELA: Ya veo. Mira, Rosalia. A team mascot is a symbol for that team.
ROSIE: A symbol? Got it. Adios, Abuela.
[Chiming]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie waves and ends the call. She runs, then returns and taps the smartphone screen.
ABUELA: Hola, again.
ROSIE: What's a symbol?
[Light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: On the smartphone screen, Abuela smiles. She lifts her heart necklace towards the camera on her phone.
ABUELA: A symbol is something that stands for something else, like this heart necklace. It stands for love. So, your mascot should stand for what's special about Javi's team.
[Abuela gasps]
ABUELA: Ay!
DESCRIPTION: Abuela speedwalks.
ABUELA: They're walking faster now. Adios, granito de arroz.
DESCRIPTION: Rosie waves.
ROSIE: Ciao, bacalao.
[Phone chimes]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie ends the call.
ROSIE: Hm. What's something special about Javi's team?
[Tapping]
DESCRIPTION: Crystal takes her smartphone and puts it in her pocket.
CRYSTAL: Come on, orange team! You can do this!
[Thump]
DESCRIPTION: The brown-haired girl dribbles the ball across the field, with Javi and the black-haired girl running beside her.
ROSIE: Javi's team is orange. That's special. So, I can be an orange mascot. Be right back, Crystal. Again!
[Gatita snores, light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: At home, Gatita sleeps under the kitchen table, and Rosie wakes her.
ROSIE: Gatita!
[Gatita meows]
ROSIE: New idea. Javi's on the orange team. So, I'm gonna be an orange mascot.
[Gatita meows]
ROSIE: Now, what is orange?
[Tap, thump]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie looks at toys scattered on the floor and picks up a pumpkin toy. Rosie drops a tablecloth on Gatita’s nose and runs across the kitchen.
ROSIE: Eso es! I'll be an orange pumpkin. Gotta make another costume, Gatita!
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: During the soccer game, the black-haired girl dribbles the ball down the field with Javi running nearby. Rosie stands on the sidelines, wearing a green pumpkin stalk hat and a hand-drawn cardboard orange pumpkin costume.
ROSIE: Ta-da!
JAVI: Prima?
[Light music plays]
ROSIE: That's me. I'm Rosie, the pumpkin mascot.
[The music stops]
JAVI: A pumpkin?
ROSIE: Uh-huh. Your team is orange, and I'm a symbol of your team. Got it?
JAVI: I really don't.
ROSIE: Don't worry. Once I start to cheer for you as a pumpkin, you'll play so much better.
[Footsteps rustle, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Javi runs back onto the field, and Rosie jumps.
ROSIE CHEERS: Pump, pump, pump, orange pumpkin! Pump, pump, pump, orange pumpkin!
ROSIE: Whoa, whoa, whoa, falling!
DESCRIPTION: Rosie stumbles back and trips over the cooler.
CRYSTAL: You okay, Rosie?
[Light music plays]
ROSIE: Yep, I'm A-okay. Did it work? Did it help the orange team play better?
[Ball thumps, footsteps rustle]
DESCRIPTION: The brown-haired girl passes the ball toward Javi, and the girl with pigtails intercepts it and kicks it back down the field.
CRYSTAL: Ay, no.
JAVI: Aw.
ROSIE: No?
[Rosie sighs, tense music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie paces.
ROSIE: I just wanted to be a mascot and help Javi's team play better, but nothing is working, and...
ROSIE: I need to flop.
[Thump, Rosie grunts, light music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie flops down on her back.
ROSIE: Rosie's rule. When you're a pumpkin, it's really hard to flop.
[Grunts, thump]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie struggles to sit up, then flops back on her back.
[Light music plays]
ROSIE: Breathe in.
[Inhales deeply]
ROSIE: Breathe out.
[Exhales]
ROSIE: Wiggle about.
[Rustling, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Rosie wiggles, then stands.
ROSIE: Now, I'm ready to figure this out. Vamos a ver!
[Players shout, whistle blares]
DESCRIPTION: On the field, the orange team runs past Crystal.
CRYSTAL: Come on, orange team. Show them how fast you are!
DESCRIPTION: Rosie runs to Crystal and watches the orange team run past the brown team.
ROSIE: Javi's team is orange and they're super fast, so maybe my mascot should be something orange and fast too.
[Rosie gasps, playful music plays]
ROSIE: I've got it! I'll be right back.
DESCRIPTION: Rosie speedwalks away from Crystal, pumping her arms as she walks.
ROSIE: So hard running as a pumpkin.
[Whoosh, triumphant music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Later, Rosie returns wearing cheetah ears on a headband and an orange coat with black crumpled paper balls attached. Javi drinks from his water bottle, and the black-haired girl stands nearby with her shoulders slumped.
ROSIE: Ta-da!
JAVI: Wow! A cheetah!
ROSIE: See, Javi? I'm a cheetah mascot, because cheetahs are orange, and super fast, just like your team. Roar!
JAVI: Que padre! That makes me wanna... Roar!
[Descending piano notes play]
ROSIE AND ORANGE TEAM: Roar!
[Everyone laughs]
DESCRIPTION: Crystal arrives.
CRYSTAL: Okay, team, the game's almost over, and the brown team's winning by two points.
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Javi and the team run onto the soccer field.
JAVI: Come on, orange team. We're gonna play like fast, orange cheetahs.
ROSIE: Go, go, go, orange team!
[Thumping, blonde-haired girl gasps, Jun gasps, wavy-haired girl grunts]
DESCRIPTION: During the game, Javi dribbles the ball with the blonde-haired girl running behind him. His teammate, the brown-haired girl, runs beside him. He passes her the ball, and she kicks it towards the goal. Jun and the wavy-haired girl miss the ball, and it bounces into the goal.
ORANGE TEAM: All right! Woo-hoo!
ROSIE: Go, go, go!
[Jun grunts, ball thumps, brown-haired girl grunts]
DESCRIPTION: Crystal holds up the scoreboard, with the updated one-to-two score. On the field, Jun kicks the soccer ball, and the brown-haired girl dribbles it towards the brown team’s goal.
ROSIE: Go, go, roar!
DESCRIPTION: On the field, the black-haired girl dribbles the ball.
BLACK-HAIRED GIRL: Ooh!
[Wavy-haired girl grunts, orange team cheers, laughs, marker squeaks]
DESCRIPTION: The black-haired girl scores a goal. Crystal holds up the scoreboard with the score tied two-two.
CRYSTAL: One minute left, everybody.
ROSIE CHEERS: Woo-hoo! Go, orange cheetahs! Roar!
[Javi pants, upbeat music continues, ball thumps]
DESCRIPTION: Javi runs on the field. A player passes the ball to Javi.
JAVI: Roar. Over here! I've got it.
[Wavy-haired girl grunts, net rustles, orange team cheers, whistle blares, marker squeaks]
DESCRIPTION: Javi passes the soccer ball to the black-haired girl, and she scores a goal. Crystal writes the score, three to two for the orange team, on the scoreboard.
CRYSTAL: Game over! Orange team wins!
[Hands slap]
DESCRIPTION: Javi and the brown-haired girl high-five, and the orange team jumps excitedly.
BROWN-HAIRED GIRL: I knew we could do it.
JAVI: We won!
JUN: Great game, guys.
ROSIE: Hurray, orange team!
CRYSTAL: Amazing, Rosie! Your orange cheetah mascot helped the team play better and they won.
[The music stops, footsteps patter]
JAVI: Hey, maybe we should call our team "The Speedy Cheetahs."
ROSIE CHEERS: iIórale!
CRYSTAL: The Speedy Cheetahs!
[Light music plays]
CRYSTAL, ROSIE, AND JAVI: Roar!
[Everyone laughs, chiming, energetic music plays]
DESCRIPTION: A grid of symbols appears, including a dollar sign, a heart, the moon, the sun, a star, a person walking, a clover, an open book, and a fire. Rosie appears, opening the book symbol like a window. She grabs the star and flies. Rosie picks up a magnifying glass from the matching symbol.
ROSIE SINGS: Symbols are like pictures; they have meaning too. When I see a symbol, it's like finding a clue.
DESCRIPTION: Javi holds a red heart.
JAVI: Corazon?
ROSIE: A symbol for love.
DESCRIPTION: A green clover spins and a yellow star appears. Symbols cover the star, and Rosie appears in the middle. Dollar signs appear, then colourful balloons float upwards. At night, the crescent moon glows among the twinkling stars, and during the day, the sun blazes in the blue sky.
ROSIE SINGS: A clover stands for luck, and a star means well done. Symbols all around. Can you find one? Dollar signs for money, balloons for party fun. A moon stands for the nighttime, for day we show the sun.
JAVI: iEl sol!
DESCRIPTION: A grey cloud covers the sun, and it rains. Rosie and Javi gesture at a campfire symbol. It spins, changes into a knife and fork, then into a book.
ROSIE SINGS: A cloud's a sign for rain, a fire shows that something burns. A knife and fork for eating, a book means read and learn.
JAVI: iUn libro! I love books.
DESCRIPTION: A dollar sign, a heart, a star, a smiley face, and a clover bounce above Rosie’s head. On the grid, Rosie examines the moon symbol through her magnifying glass. She holds a clover in her right hand and a star in her left. On the grid, Rosie moves from symbol to symbol.
