Descriptive Transcript

[Upbeat music]

[Child’s laughter]

[Opening credits] “TVOKids + BigBadBoo Studios Original”

[Upbeat theme music]

DESCRIPTION: In the opening sequence, two blue birds fly across the sky over a pastel coloured town. Apartment complexes and shops line the streets.

CHILD: Whee!

[Laughing]

SINGERS: Who's that knocking at my door?

DESCRIPTION: Inside an apartment, Luc, aged four, with brown, curly hair, is wearing a purple shirt and red pants, and Amala, aged six, with brown hair, is wearing blue overalls and a green shirt, knock on the front door.

SINGERS: I'll race you to the bottom floor

DESCRIPTION: Lili, aged seven, with black hair and wearing purple glasses, a red shirt, and green pants, and Sam, aged seven, with black hair and wearing a green shirt and blue pants, open the door.

DESCRIPTION: Lili, Amala, Luc, and Sam run down the apartment staircase, joined by three new friends. One of them is Lili’s little sister, who has black hair that she wears in two ponytails and wears an orange dress. Another is Sam’s older sister, Sara. Sara has black hair, which she wears in a ponytail, and is dressed in a purple shirt and matching pants. The third friend is Eddie, he has dark brown hair and is wearing a green shirt and orange pants.

SINGERS: Who's that playing hide and seek? Count to 10 and don't you peek Let's head outside and play Create a brand new game

DESCRIPTION: The friends play outside. They play hide and seek, jump rope, and skateboard.

SINGERS: Or search beneath the stairs For hidden treasure there

DESCRIPTION: Holding a flashlight, the friends tiptoe into a dark basement and look into a storage room.

SINGERS: 16 Hudson That's where my friends are waiting 16 Hudson Won't you come along?

DESCRIPTION: The friends run through Chinese New Year celebrations, and everyone waves from their apartment balconies.

SINGERS: 16 Hudson Where everybody's welcome 16 Hudson That's where I belong

DESCRIPTION: The friends play on the swing set and run through a bakery. In a park, everyone blows bubbles from a bubble wand. In the sky, all the bubbles turn into a colourful rainbow.

[The opening sequence ends]

[Episode title] “Lizard on the Loose”

DESCRIPTION: Sam plays with a dinosaur toy on the table. He has a camera set up in front of him.

[Creepy music]

[Growling]

DESCRIPTION: JJ runs by Sam and into the garden. JJ has black hair and is wearing a purple shirt and denim overalls.

[JJ panting]

SAM: Huh?

[JJ panting]

DESCRIPTION: JJ jumps into a bush in the garden.

JJ: Whaa!

[JJ grunts]

SAM: Uh, hello? Hi, aren't you the new Super's kid? JJ?

JJ: Yep!

[JJ panting]

DESCRIPTION: JJ runs out of the garden and up into the treehouse. Sam calls up to them.

[JJ grunting]

SAM: What are you doing? Whaa!

DESCRIPTION: Suddenly, JJ pops up beside Sam.

JJ: Have you seen the Elizardbeth?

DESCRIPTION: JJ holds up an illustrated picture of a lizard.

JJ: Green, big eyes, extra scaly? She's my pet gecko, and she's lost!

SAM: Oh! E-lizard-beth! Huh! Because geckos are a type of lizard! Great name. I can help you find her. I know everything about geckos.

JJ: Me too!

SAM: Let's see--geckos are nocturnal, so they sleep during the day.

JJ: Ha! Yeah! She must be napping somewhere around here.

SAM: Hmm, we're going to need help. Come on!

DESCRIPTION: Sam and JJ run up to the apartment’s front doors, where Lili and Luc are coming outside. Sam has a camera around his neck.

SAM: Luc, Lili! We need your help! This is JJ, and he– Uh, she– uh, JJ? Are you a he or a she?

JJ: Neither, I'm a "they"!

LUC: I didn't know you could be a they!

LILI: Me neither. Cool. I'm Lili, and I'm a "she."

LUC: And I'm Luc! "He."

SAM: Sam. I'm a "he" too. But here's the problem. JJ lost their pet gecko– Elizardbeth!

DESCRIPTION: Sam holds up the illustrated picture of Elizardbeth.

[Both gasping]

LILI: That's terrible!

LUC: Oh, no, poor Elizardbeth!

LILI: I gecko could be hard to find.

SAM: Geckos have sticky feet, so Elizardbeth could be anywhere, even... up this wall. Hold this!

DESCRIPTION: Sam hands Luc his camera. Sam runs up to the apartment wall and tries to climb it, but he falls on the ground.

[Sam grunting]

SAM: Whoa! Ugh!

DESCRIPTION: Luc takes a photo of Sam on the ground.

[Luc snapping a photo]

SAM: Nothing! If only I had gecko powers!

LILI: JJ, maybe your mom could help! Since she's the Super, she's got keys to the whole building.

JJ: What if Mom finds out I lost her and think I'm not responsible enough to keep her?

LUC: Not gonna happen 'cause we're going to find Elizardbeth before your mom gets home from work!

LILI: Hmm, we should search where Elizardbeth was last seen for clues! She might still be there!

JJ: That's my room! Come on!

DESCRIPTION: Lili, JJ, Luc, and Sam run inside the apartment. JJ’s bedroom is bright and colourful; they have a red loft bed and a blue carpet. The Non-binary Pride flag hangs on the wall behind JJ’s bed, a gecko tank stands on a table, a net holds a variety of sports balls, and figurines line a bookshelf.

[All grunting]

LUC: Haha! Your bed is so cool! Why would a gecko ever want to leave here?

LILI: And you organize your sports stuff just like I do! So tidy!

SAM: Too tidy! No place for a gecko to hide here.

LUC: Whaa! Hey, this latch for the lid is broken.

DESCRIPTION: Luc points to the gecko tank on the table; the top lid is wide open.

LUC: JJ, it wasn't your fault that Elizardbeth got out. See?

[Luc snapping a photo]

JJ: I don't know, Luc. She still got out on my watch. Poor gecko. I barely got to show her around 16 Hudson!

SAM: That's it! Maybe Elizardbeth went to one of those places you showed her!

JJ: Yeah?

SAM: Come on! Show us where you went.

DESCRIPTION: Outside, Lili, Luc, JJ, and Sam stand in front of a landscape mural.

JJ: Elizardbeth and I love this mural! It's so many colors! Anybody see her?

DESCRIPTION: Luc takes a photo of the mural.

[Curious music]

SAM: No sleeping gecko. Next place!

DESCRIPTION: As the group walks away, a camouflaged gecko walks across the mural, its skin changing from green to blue.

[All panting]

DESCRIPTION: Later that day, the ground runs into a bakery.

JJ: She might be here. I love the desserts!

LILI: Hmm. Nope! Maybe she snuck inside?

DESCRIPTION: Luc puts his hand in the air.

LUC: I'll go ask my dad.

DESCRIPTION: Luc runs into the back kitchen, then runs back out again.

[Luc grunting]

LUC: He says he would have remembered a lizard customer. Next place!

DESCRIPTION: As the group leaves the bakery, a camouflaged gecko walks across the bakery counter, its skin is pink. Later that day, the group is at the swing set.

JJ: I spent a whole afternoon with Elizardbeth here. I love swinging!

[Luc snapping a photo]

SAM: Me too! I swung so much once, my butt fell asleep.

JJ: But she's not here, and we're running out of time. My mom will be done with work soon.

SAM: Everybody, look faster!

[All grunting]

DESCRIPTION: The group runs around the playground. Suddenly, a gray camouflage lizard walks across the swing set.

[Upbeat music]

DESCRIPTION: In a montage, the group looks all around the apartment. Lili and JJ accidentally walk into each other.

[All grunting, groaning]

DESCRIPTION: JJ’s mother, Bridget, walks down the hallway.

[Whistling]

[Lili gasps]

LILI: JJ's mom!

[Bridget whistling]

DESCRIPTION: Lili, Luc, Sam, and JJ hide around the corner of the hallway as Bridget gets into the elevator. Then, they sneak up the stairs behind her.

[Elevator dings]

[Whistling]

DESCRIPTION: In a montage, Lili, Luc, Sam, and JJ look around the apartment building while avoiding Bridget. They look in the garbage room, the supply closet, and the hallway.

[Door opens, whistling]

JJ: We searched everywhere! I just hope she's okay.

LILI: Losing a pet feels awful. I'm so sorry you and Elizardbeth are going through this.

SAM: But maybe you don't have to! Look, gecko tail!

DESCRIPTION: Sam points to the bottom of the staircase, where a green tail sticks out. Elizardbeth turns around, smiling. Elizardbeth runs away and slides under a door.

JJ: Elizardbeth! Follow that reptile!

LILI: We've got her now.

LUC: That door goes to the roof!

LILI: Ha! She moves fast, huh?

SAM: Yeah, but why is Elizardbeth awake? Geckos are nocturnal, so they sleep in the day.

JJ: If she's awake now… She must be diurnal, which means she sleeps at night like people do.

DESCRIPTION: Luc tries to open the door.

[Grunting]

LUC: Locked! How do we get this door open?

JJ: My mom has keys, but… I'll have to tell her everything to get her to open it.

SAM: Right. You know what? I'll be okay, 'cause we've got your back.

JJ: Okay.

DESCRIPTION: Back at the staircase, the group talks to Bridget.

LILI: JJ needs your help, Bridget.

BRIDGET: JJ, is everything okay?

DESCRIPTION: JJ frowns.

JJ: No. I lost Elizardbeth, but we found her, and now she's stuck on the roof! And the door's locked. I'm so sorry.

LUC: Wait! Before you say anything, we need the facts of the case! Fact--it wasn't JJ's fault that Elizardbeth got out. The latch was broken. See?

DESCRIPTION: Luc shows Bridget the photo he took of the broken tank.

SAM: And fact– this gecko is diurnal! Not even our best lizard experts knew that!

DESCRIPTION: Luc shows Bridget a photo of Elizardbeth.

LILI: Fact--JJ cares about Elizardbeth's safety. They searched everywhere, and asked for your help, too, even if it meant you might not let them keep her.

DESCRIPTION: Luc holds up a photo of JJ looking in a bush.

SAM: Fact--Elizardbeth couldn't have a better human taking care of her.

BRIDGET: You all make a great case! JJ, accidents happen, but you did the responsible thing telling me so I could help. Besides, I would never take Elizardbeth away. She's part of the family now. So let's go get her!

DESCRIPTION: Bridget holds up a set of keys. The group goes up to the roof.

JJ: Elizardbeth!

DESCRIPTION: Elizardbeth is sitting on an air vent. JJ walks over, and Elizardbeth climbs onto their head.

[JJ grunts and pants]

JJ: There you are!

[All laughing]

DESCRIPTION: Bridget wraps her arm around JJ.

BRIDGET: I didn't know a kid could make friends so fast!

JJ: Me neither.

[All laughing]

[Closing music]
