Daniel walks in the studio.

Daniel is in his twenties, with short curly brown hair and wears glasses, jeans, and a cream and burgundy TVO Kids hooded sweatshirt.

Daniel says WELCOME BACK TO
TVOK NEWS.
NOW,
DO YOU EVER DREAM ABOUT
DISCOVERING SOMETHING NEW
IN YOUR HOUSE?
MAYBE A TREASURE
IN YOUR BASEMENT,
OR A SECRET BOX
IN A CLOSET?
WELL, SOMETHING JUST LIKE THAT
HAPPENED RECENTLY AT
THE ONTARIO LEGISLATIVE
BUILDING AT QUEEN'S PARK.

On a screen behind him appears a picture of the legislature with the caption "Found treasure."

Daniel says THE BUILDING IS HOME TO THE
OFFICES OF MEMBERS OF
PROVINCIAL PARLIAMENT
AND THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY.
NOW, BACK IN 1912,
WHITE PANELS WERE INSTALLED
IN THE CEILING OF THE
LEGISLATIVE CHAMBER,
AND RECENTLY,
THOSE STAFF NOTICED A TEAR
IN ONE OF THE PANELS.
WHEN THE TEAR BECAME LARGER,
CREWS WENT UP
TO REMOVE THE PANEL.
UNDERNEATH, THEY DISCOVERED
THE CORNER OF A PAINTING.
HOW COOL IS THAT?
NO ONE EVER KNEW
THAT ART HAD BEEN HIDDEN
BENEATH THE CEILING PANELS.
IT'S ASSUMED THAT
THE PAINTING EXTENDS
THE ENTIRE LENGTH
OF THE CHAMBER.
NOW, THE REAL WORK BEGINS,
RESTORING THE UNCOVERED ART.
THIS IS A VERY COMPLICATED
PROCESS REQUIRING
SEVERAL DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES
THAT HAVE TO BE DONE BY EXPERTS.
ALSO, BECAUSE IT'S THE
LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY,
THE WORK HAS TO BE DONE WHEN
PEOPLE AREN'T WORKING THERE.
IT COULD BE YEARS BEFORE ANYONE
SEES THIS HIDDEN TREASURE.
JUST GOES TO PROVE HIDDEN
TREASURE COULD BE ANYWHERE.
STAY TUNED FOR OUR
FEATURE STORY, COMING UP NEXT.
