She speaks on a banana-shaped telephone and sifts flour. In the animation, straws, paint bottles, sunglasses, and drinks move on a conveyor belt. In a live-action video clip, children dance and paint. Bec blows bubbles through a zebra-shaped bubble blower.
Title: “Makeaway Takeaway.”
[Lively music plays]
In live-action, Bec reads a stapled stack of papers behind the counter at Makeaway Takeaway. She wears a yellow shirt, blue shorts, and a blue apron with suspenders.
Bec says, OH, HELLO! I'M BEC. WELCOME TO MAKEAWAY TAKEAWAY! I'M VERY EXCITED. WE'VE GOT A FILM CREW COMING IN TODAY TO MAKE AN AD FOR THE TAKEAWAY. BETTER START PRACTICING MY LINES. WHILE I DO THAT, CHECK OUT TODAY'S MENU.
[Whooshing, upbeat music plays, whooshing]
Title: “Makeaway Takeaway.”

Bec narrates, COMING UP ON TODAY'S SHOW, A HOWLER OF A TECHNIQUE. I GET A CALL FROM A CUSTOMER WHOSE TABLET NEEDS A TASTY TRANSFORMATION AND LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION AS WE DELIVER AN ANIMATION FOR SOME FILM WORKSHOP LEADERS.
[Whooshing, whistling]
Title: “Makeaway Takeaway.”
[Upbeat music plays]
In Makeaway Takeaway, Bec leans over the counter and makes a straight line on a piece of paper with a ruler.
Bec says, AH! JUST PRACTICING MY LINES.
[Whooshing]
Bec holds up the paper with rows of straight lines.
Bec says, THINK THEY'RE LOOKING PRETTY GOOD! I'LL FINISH THESE LATER THOUGH BECAUSE NOW IT'S TIME FOR…
[Upbeat music plays]
Bec shouts, A TAKEAWAY TECHNIQUE!
[Whooshing, scissors snipping, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, scissors cut across a yellow screen. In live action, Bec sits at a table with green, black, and orange paper.
Bec says, I'M GOING TO SHOW YOU A POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE PAPER CUTTING TECHNIQUE. I'M STARTING WITH A BLACK PIECE OF CARD AND I'M GOING TO DRAW A WOLF.
Bec draws a wolf on the black paper, using a white pencil crayon.
Bec says, I'M USING A WHITE PENCIL SO I CAN SEE WHERE MY LINE IS. NOW, YOU'RE GOING TO DRAW THE WOLF HOWLING AT THE MOON. THERE'S THE WOLF'S SILHOUETTE. LET'S DRAW SOME TREES. MINE AREN'T GOING TO HAVE ANY LEAVES. IT'S WINTER.
She draws the trees at the edge of the paper.
Bec says, A VERY IMPORTANT THING. DRAW YOUR SHAPES ON THE EDGE OF THE PAPER. YOU'LL SEE WHY LATER. FINALLY, I'M GONNA GIVE THE WOLF A MOON TO HOWL AT.
[Bec howling]
Bec picks up a roll of masking tape.
Bec says, TO GET A PERFECTLY ROUND CIRCLE, WE'RE GOING TO TRACE AROUND THE INSIDE OF THIS ROLL OF TAPE.
Bec draws a moon using the inside edge of the masking tape roll.
Bec says, HERE WE ARE. NOW, TO CUT IT OUT.
[Rustling, scissor snipping]
Bec cuts out a tree at the edge of the paper.
Bec says, YOU NEED TO BE AS NEAT AS YOU CAN WHILE CUTTING IT OUT BECAUSE YOU'RE GOING TO NEED ALL OF THE PIECES.
[Whooshing, scissors snipping]
In an animation, scissors cut across a yellow screen. In live action, the black paper is on top of a larger orange paper.
Bec says, I'VE CUT ALL OF THE PIECES OUT AND I'VE STUCK THE MAIN PIECE OF CARD DOWN. NOW, I'LL SHOW YOU THE MAGIC. THESE ARE THE PIECES I CUT OUT, AND I'M FOLDING THEM OUT TO CREATE A MIRROR IMAGE OF WHAT WAS ON THE PAGE.
Bec lifts the trees off each edge, flips them, and places them beside the edge of the black paper. She lifts the black wolf cut-out and flips it upside down beneath the wolf. She places the moon cut-out beneath the upside-down black wolf’s snout.
Bec says, I'LL STICK THESE DOWN.
Bec uses a glue stick and attaches the black cut-outs to the orange paper. In an animation, paint drips down and covers Bec’s work.
In live action, Bec says, ALL THE PIECES HAVE BEEN STUCK DOWN. NOW TO ADD SOME STARS WITH A WHITE PENCIL.
[Chiming, upbeat music plays]
Bec adds white dots to the black paper sky.
Bec says, GOT SOME BIG DOTS FOR THE STARS CLOSE TO US AND SOME LITTLE ONES FOR THE STARS FAR AWAY.
[Whooshing, chiming]
A graphic of a pink frame appears around the orange and black wolf picture.
AND THERE IS YOUR HOWLING WOLF PICTURE, MADE USING A POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE CUTTING TECHNIQUE.
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays, bell jangling]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, Bec looks up from her stapled paper.
Bec says, THERE'S THE DIRECTOR NOW!
A second Bec enters the Takeaway wearing a ball cap, sunglasses, a black vest, an orange sweater, and black pants. She holds a clapboard.
The director says, YES, YES! THIS TAKEAWAY'S PERFECT! AND THERE'S MY STAR. ARE YOU READY TO MAKE ADVERT HISTORY?
Bec says, I SURE AM!
The director says, OKAY, POSITIONS PLEASE. TAKE ONE! ACTION!
[Clap board snapping]
Bec says, HELLO, I'M BEC! WELCOME TO STAKEAWAY MAKEA—
[Director sighing, upbeat music plays, clap board snapping]
The director says, TAKE TWO!
Bec says, SNAKEAWAY SHAKEAWAY!
The director says, TAKE THREE!
[Clap board snapping]
Bec says, TAKEAWAY BAKEAWAY!
[The director groaning]
The director says, TAKE FOUR!
[Clap board snapping, whooshing]
Bec says, FAKEAWAY SNAKEAWAY!
The director says, TAKE 520.
[Clap board snapping]
Bec says, MAKEAWAY TAKE—
[Ringing, whirring]
An order slip prints beneath a screen on the wall.
The director says, CUT! OKAY, IT'S A BREAK. COME ON!
The director leaves.
[Light music plays]
Bec says, A CUSTOMER!
On a screen, the red-haired boy wears a green and blue T-shirt.
The red-haired boy says, HELLO, MAKEAWAY TAKEAWAY. BEC, I NEED YOUR HELP. MY BROTHER AND I LOVE OUR TABLETS, BUT THEY BOTH LOOK THE SAME, AND WE KEEP GETTING THEM MIXED UP. IT'S SO ANNOYING! CAN YOU HELP WITH A WAY TO KEEP MY BROTHER'S HANDS OFF OF MY TABLET?
Bec says, YES, I'VE GOT JUST THE THING TO STOP YOU FROM SWOPPING SCREENS. ONE ARTY DELIVERY COMING RIGHT UP!
[Rustling, energetic music plays, whistling, footsteps pattering, whooshing, zooming]
Bec grabs the piece of paper and runs. She jumps into a comic panel, ties her shoelaces, and straightens her socks. Then, she snaps her suspenders, puts on a hat, and fastens a belt with dangling markers around her waist. Bec winks and gives a thumbs-up.
Bec says, LET'S DO THIS!
[Upbeat music plays, whooshing]
Outside, the red-haired boy wears a broad-brimmed hat. He crosses his arms. He dances and points at the camera.
The red-haired boy narrates, HELLO, MY NAME IS HENRY, AND I'M FROM WALES. I REALLY ENJOY TAKING PHOTOS OF ANIMALS.
[Roaring]
The red-haired boy, Henry, looks at a bird through his tablet. A younger boy who has red hair and blue eyes leaps out of a bush.
Henry narrates, THERE'S MY LITTLE BROTHER, TOMMY. HE'S GREAT, BUT HE CAN BE ANNOYING.
[Bird chirping, upbeat music continues, Tommy vocalizing]
The bird flies away, and Henry points his tablet at the younger boy, his brother Tommy. Tommy sticks out his tongue and waggles his fingers beside his face. Tommy approaches a table with two tablets and picks one up.
Henry narrates, WE BOTH HAVE SMART TABLETS AND HE KEEPS ACCIDENTALLY PICKING UP MINE AND USING IT TO MAKE ONE OF HIS NATURE DOCUMENTARIES.
[Growling]
Tommy lies on the grass and films two toy dinosaur figures. He looks up at Henry.
Henry says, UH, LITTLE BROTHERS. WHAT DID I TELL YOU? THEY'RE SO ANNOYING.
Henry shakes his head and takes the tablet away from Tommy.
Henry narrates, BEC, CAN YOU HELP US STOP GETTING OUR TABLETS IN A MUDDLE?
[Doorbell ringing]
Henry says, THAT MUST BE HER NOW!
[Whooshing, scissors snipping]
In an animation, scissors cut across a yellow screen. In live action, Henry and Bec stand in an art studio with paper, a box, markers, scissors, and glue pots on a table. Henry wears a blue apron over his clothes. Behind him, brightly coloured crayons almost as tall as he is stand in a holder. Behind Bec, a large paper drink cup with a lid holds a cut-out of a paintbrush.
Bec says, HI, HENRY!
Henry says, HELLO.
Bec says, TELL ME, WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?
[Upbeat music plays]
Henry says, WELL, TOMMY KEEPS TAKING MY TABLET.
Bec says, SOUNDS LIKE HE'S REALLY TAKING THE BISCUIT MORE LIKE.
Henry says, YEAH.
Bec says, WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT WE ARE GOING TO MAKE. WE'RE GOING TO MAKE A BISCUIT TABLET HOLDER.
[Triumphant music plays, cheering, applause]
Video footage shows a finished biscuit-shaped tablet holder beside a mug and a plate of biscuits.
Henry says, COOL!
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, Bec puts the tablet on top of the box.
Bec says, YEAH. WE'RE GOING TO START WITH A CEREAL BOX, AND THEN, IS THAT YOUR TABLET THERE?
Henry says, YEAH.
Bec traces around the tablet and then gives it back to Henry.
Bec says, I'M GOING TO PLACE THIS ON THE CEREAL BOX AND THEN JUST GONNA TRACE AROUND IT SO WE KNOW EXACTLY HOW BIG WE NEED THE HOLE TO BE. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
[Rustling, scissors cutting]
Bec cuts out the tablet shape.
Bec says, I'M GOING TO PUSH THE SCISSORS THROUGH THE CENTRE OF THE BOX. AT HOME, YOU MIGHT WANT TO GET AN ADULT TO HELP YOU. AND THEN, CUT IT OUT! I'M ACTUALLY CUTTING SLIGHTLY OUTSIDE THE LINE THAT I DREW SO THAT I'VE GOT ENOUGH SPACE TO FIT IN YOUR TABLET.
Henry nods.
Bec says, ONCE WE'VE CUT THAT OUT, WE CAN START MAKING IT LOOK LIKE A BISCUIT. I'VE BROUGHT THESE FOR INSPIRATION. WHAT DO YOU RECKON?
Henry looks at a plate of iced biscuits with polka dots on the top.
Bec says, I'VE DECORATED THEM MYSELF.
Henry says, THEY LOOK VERY YUMMY.
Bec says, WE CAN HAVE THEM LATER.
Henry says, GOOD.
[Newspaper crinkling, upbeat music plays]
Bec crumples a newspaper into a ball.
Bec says, I'M USING A PIECE OF NEWSPAPER. THEN I'M SCRUNCHING IT INTO A LITTLE BALL LIKE THAT. WITH SOME P.V.A. GLUE, I'M GONNA MAKE THIS REALLY GLUEY.
[Whooshing]
Henry and Bec put glue on crumpled newspaper. They glue the crumpled newspaper balls to the top of the tablet holder.
Bec says, THIS MAKE CAN GET A BIT MESSY SO MAKE SURE YOU PUT SOME NEWSPAPER DOWN. THIS SCRUNCHED-UP NEWSPAPER MAKES THE PERFECT BUMPY BITS FOR OUR BISCUITS. IT'S STARTING TO LOOK MORE LIKE A BISCUIT, ISN'T IT?
Henry says, YEP.
Bec says, AND I GET TO DO MY FAVOURITE PART NOW! PAPER MÂCHÉ!
Henry says, YEAH.
Bec picks up a small container of P.V.A.
Bec says, YEAH. I'M USING TWO PARTS P.V.A., ONE PART WATER TO GIVE IT A NICE, RUNNY CONSISTENCY. LET'S GET ON WITH IT!
Bec and Henry put newspaper strips in the P.V.A. and then use them to cover the newspaper balls.
Bec says, YES! GOOD WORK! OH, MINE'S DRIPPING EVERYWHERE.
Henry says, I LIKE A MESSY MAKE.
Bec says, ME TOO. Bec says, SO, HENRY, YOU SPEAK SOME WELSH, DON'T YOU?
Henry says, YEP.
Bec says, TEACH ME SOME WELSH.
Henry says, MY FAVOURITE WORD IS “POPTY PING." "POPTY" MEANS OVEN, AND THEN THE "PING" COMES FROM THE NOISE IT MAKES.
[Dinging, upbeat music continues]
Bec says, THAT'S AMAZING! YOU'RE GOING TO KEEP DOING THIS UNTIL IT'S COMPLETELY COVERED AND THEN WAIT FOR IT TO DRY.
[Whooshing upbeat music plays]
In an animation, lines move across a yellow background. In live-action, Bec picks up the box with the dry papier mâché edges. She and Henry paint the tablet holder.
Bec says, AND THERE YOU HAVE IT, OUR DRY, BUMPY BISCUIT. LET'S GET PAINTING. I'VE GOT THIS LOVELY CUSTARD COLOUR FOR THE CENTRE AND HENRY HAS A NICE GOLDEN COLOUR FOR THE BISCUIT. IF YOU COULD BE ANY BISCUIT, WHAT WOULD YOU BE?
Henry says, I WOULDN'T LIKE TO BE EATEN…
[Bec laughing]
Henry continues, BUT PROBABLY A SHORTBREAD.
Bec says, OOH, YEAH. VERY SWEET. YOU CAN PAINT YOUR BISCUIT ANY COLOUR YOU'D LIKE, BUT ONCE YOU'RE DONE, LEAVE IT TO DRY.
[Splattering, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, paint drips over the tablet holder. In live action, Bec and Henry paint the biscuit.
Bec says, OUR BISCUIT'S ALMOST DRY. HENRY'S GIVING IT SOME ICING, AND I'VE ADDED SOME SHADING TO GIVE IT TEXTURE.
[Upbeat music plays]
Bec picks up the plate with the dotted biscuits.
Bec says, I THINK IT ALMOST LOOKS LIKE THESE. WHAT DO YOU RECKON?
Henry says, YEAH, ARE WE GONNA ADD SOME SPRINKLES ON?
Bec says, WE SURE ARE. I'VE CUT OUT SOME COLOURED DOTS FROM TISSUE PAPER TO MAKE SPRINKLES. TIME FOR SOME TEAMWORK. I'LL STICK AND YOU ADD THE DOTS.
Bec uses a glue stick and applies glue to the white paint. Henry adds the dots.
Bec says, THAT'S ALL OUR SPRINKLES ADDED. NOW, TO TURN THIS BISCUIT INTO A TABLE HOLDER.
Bec flips the tablet holder over to the side with the opening. She picks up a yellow sponge.
Bec says, I'VE GOT THIS CAR WASHING SPONGE AND TWO ELASTIC BANDS. I'M LOOPING THE RUBBER BANDS OVER THE ENDS OF THE SPONGE AND GRABBING SOME STRONG GLUE..
Bec loops an elastic around each end of the sponge. She spreads glue across the back.
Bec says, I'M JUST GONNA COVER THE SPONGE AND THE RUBBER BANDS AND ONCE IT'S COVERED, FLIP IT OVER AND RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE. GONNA SQUISH THAT DOWN.
Bec puts the sponge in the tablet opening.
Bec says, IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT YOU MAKE SURE ALL THE GLUE IS DRY BEFORE YOU ADD YOUR TABLET.
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, Bec and Henry stand at the table.
Bec says, HENRY, CAN I HAVE YOUR TABLET, PLEASE?
Henry says, YES.
Henry gives Bec his tablet. A photograph of Henry giving two thumbs up appears on the screen as Bec puts the tablet in the opening. She wraps the elastics over the screen.
Bec says, EXCELLENT. LET'S POP THIS IN. OH, THAT'S A NICE PHOTO OF YOU. THERE'S ONE RUBBER BAND. TWO RUBBER BANDS. AND THERE YOU HAVE YOUR BISCUIT TABLET HOLDER.
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live-action, Henry and Tommy sit on a patio, looking at their tablets. Henry has his in the biscuit tablet holder.
Henry says, THANKS, BEC. THIS IS A REALLY GOOD WAY TO TELLING MINE AND TOMMY'S TABLET APART.
Tommy says, THANKS, BEC.
Henry says, ALL I NEED NOW IS A CUP OF TEA.
Henry and Tommy shout, DAD!
Their dad brings them two mugs.
In Makeaway Takeaway, Bec says, WELL, I'M GLAD I COULD HELP. JUST DON'T TAKE A MEGA-BITE.
[Drum rim shot plays, dinging, upbeat music plays]
Bec puts the order on a blue tray.
Bec says, MORE HAPPY CUSTOMERS.
[Bec vocalizing]
Bec says, SORRY. THE DIRECTOR TOLD ME TO TRY SOME VOCAL WARM-UPS SO IT MIGHT HELP ME WITH MY LINES. THE PORPOISE POOPOOED ON PURPOSE. THE PORPOISE POOPOOED ON PURPOSE. PAPER PUPPETRY. PAPER PUPPETRY. PP, OOH! YES! I'LL DO SOME PAPER PUPPETRY.
[Whooshing, zooming]
Title: “Makeaway Takeaway.”
[Sniffing, upbeat music plays, door clicking, washing machine whirring, door opening, plopping]
Bec smells a paper shirt. She puts it into a paper washing machine, pushing it against hook-and-loop tabs attached to the shiny paper. Bec pushes a paper button. She lifts a lever on the side of the washing machine, and paper bubbles rise, covering the shirt. The bubbles turn. She lowers the lever, and a tiny shirt sticks to the shiny paper. Bec’s lower lip sticks out, and she takes the tiny shirt out of the machine.
[Whooshing, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, rolls of paper unfurl against a yellow screen. In live action, Bec powders her face behind the counter at Makeaway Takeaway.
Bec says, I NEED TO MAKE SURE MY MAKEUP LOOKS PERFECT FOR THIS ADVERT.
The director says, OKAY! TAKE 972!
[Clap board snapping, whooshing]
Bec puts her powder puff beneath the counter.
Bec says, HELLO, I'M! AH, AH. I'VE GOT IT.
[Bec sneezing]
The director waves her hand in front of her face.
The director says, AH! ALL RIGHT, TAKE A BREAK! COME ON!
Bec says, WOW. THESE GUYS SURE LIKE BREAKS. TIME FOR ME TO DO A MEGA MINI MAKE.
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, Bec sits at a small table.
Bec says, I'M GOING TO MAKE AN ORIGAMI T-SHIRT GREETING CARD AND I'M GOING TO MATCH IT TO MY MAKEAWAY TAKEAWAY TOP.
[Mellow music plays, paper rustling, whooshing]
Bec folds a yellow paper in half lengthwise. She opens it and folds each side towards the middle.
Bec says, I'M STARTING WITH AN A-4 PIECE OF YELLOW PAPER. AND I'M FOLDING IT IN HALF. AND OPEN IT BACK UP. AND THEN FOLD EACH SIDE INTO THE MIDDLE. TURN IT OVER.
Bec turns the paper over and folds one end. She glues blue paper over the fold and flips the paper over.
Bec says, AND FOLD UP THE END. THE SIZE OF THIS FOLD WILL MAKE THE SIZE OF THE COLLAR BIGGER OR SMALLER. BECAUSE MY SHIRT HAS A BLUE COLLAR, I'M GOING TO STICK DOWN A BLUE STRIP OF PAPER. AND TURN IT BACK OVER. TAKE THE CORNERS AND FOLD THEM INTO THE CENTRE SO THAT IT MAKES A KITE SHAPE.
Bec turns the paper over and folds the top corners so the tips touch. She folds the bottom two corners outwards. Bec folds the paper upward, sliding the bottom edge under the shirt collar.
Bec says, TAKE THESE BOTTOM BITS AND FOLD THEM OUT LIKE THE ENTRANCE OF A TENT. FOLD THE BOTTOM UP AND TUCK IT UNDER THE COLLAR. NOW, YOU CAN SEE THE SHIRT'S SHAPE.
[Upbeat music plays]
Bec glues trim on the sleeves, three buttons, and a Makeaway Takeaway logo to the shirt.
Bec says, I'M GOING TO ADD SOME EXTRA DETAILS. THE TRIM OF MY BLUE SLEEVES, THREE LITTLE BUTTONS, AND A MAKEAWAY TAKEAWAY STICKER. YOU CAN MAKE ANY SHIRT YOU LIKE. IT COULD BE YOUR SCHOOL UNIFORM, YOUR FAVOURITE FOOTBALL TEAM, OR YOU COULD DESIGN YOUR OWN.
Bec says, LASTLY, I'LL OPEN IT BACK UP, ADD A PIECE OF CARD SO I CAN WRITE A MESSAGE IN THE CENTRE.
Bec unfolds the shirt and puts a white rectangle of paper inside. She draws a smiley face and then folds the bottom of the paper, sliding it beneath the collar.
Bec says, FOLD IT BACK UP. AND THERE IS YOUR ORIGAMI T-SHIRT GREETING CARD.
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, the director sits and leans against a wall.
[The director yawns]
The director says, TAKE 1,024.
[Clap board snapping]
Bec says, HI! I'M MAKEAWAY TAKEAWAY! WELCOME TO BEC!
[Harp music chiming, director applauding, light music plays]
The director startles and sits up.
The director says, YEP! PERFECT! PERFECT! YEP! WE'VE GOT ALL OF THE MAGIC WE NEED.
Bec says, REALLY?
The director says, I ASSURE YOU, IT'LL BE A MASTERPIECE.
[Bell jangling]
Bec says, OKAY! UM, COOL. WELL, IT WAS NICE WORKING WITH YOU. WE SHOULD DO IT AGAIN SOMETIME!
[Chiming, whooshing, upbeat music plays]
The screen on the wall activates. Bec stands beside the conveyor belt at the counter. On the screen, a boy with short blond hair appears, his arms outstretched. He wears a blue T-shirt.
The blond-haired boy says, IT'S THE MAKE OF THE DAY! HI, I'M MAX AND I'M FROM BASILDON.
Bec says, HI, MAX!
The blond-haired boy, Max, asks, WHAT CAN YOU MAKE OUT OF THESE THREE INGREDIENTS?
[Whirring]
On the conveyor belt, plastic plates carry the ingredients past Bec as Max lists them.
Max says, PLASTIC LIDS, TISSUE PAPER, AND SWEETS.
Bec says, HMM. TELL ME, MAX. IF YOU COULD BE A WIZARD, WHAT SPELL WOULD YOU CAST?
Max says, I WOULD TURN MY GRANDDAD INTO A FROG BECAUSE HE LIKES FROGS.
Bec says, OH, WELL, YEAH. THAT MAKES SENSE.
[Bec chuckling]
Bec says, OKAY. HMM. WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE THING TO DO AT PARTIES, MAX?
Max says, I LIKE TO PLAY DIFFERENT GAMES WITH MY FRIENDS.
Bec says, UH, YES. AND THAT GIVES ME AN IDEA. ONE MAKE OF THE DAY COMING RIGHT UP.
Bec walks to the cardboard on the counter.
Bec says, I'M GOING TO MAKE A PIZZA PIÑATA WITH MAX'S INGREDIENTS.
[Slide whistle, splattering, triumphant music plays, cheering, applause]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, a finished pizza piñata dangles from a string. In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, Bec stands at the counter.
Bec says, I'M STARTING WITH TWO LARGE PIECES OF RECYCLED CARD. START BY USING A RULER AND DRAWING A REALLY BIG TRIANGLE.
[Marker scratching, upbeat music plays]
Bec draws two intersecting straight lines. On the open side, she draws a rounded crust.
Bec says, NOW, I'M GONNA GIVE IT A BIG, ROUND CRUST. I'M GONNA CUT THIS OUT AND THEN I CAN USE IT AS A TEMPLATE TO DO ANOTHER ONE.
[Scissors snipping, whooshing, scissors snipping, upbeat music plays]
Bec cuts the cardboard. In an animation, scissors cut across a yellow screen. In live action, Bec has two cardboard pizza slices. She tapes a strip of cardboard to each side of a slice. Bec lifts the strips and tapes the ends together with masking tape.
Bec says, I'VE CUT OUT THE PIZZA SLICES AND I'M USING STRIPS OF CARDBOARD TO STICK AROUND THE EDGES. THIS WILL MAKE IT 3-D. I'M USING MASKING TAPE TO STICK THE PIECES TOGETHER. NOW, YOU CAN FOLD THEM UP INTO A POINT AND TAKE THE END. A COUPLE MORE PIECES TO MAKE IT NICE AND STRONG.
[Cardboard rustling]
Bec tapes a longer strip of cardboard to the middle of the rounded top of the slice. She curves the strip around the rounded edge and tapes it to the straight edges of the slides.
Bec says, AND THEN I'VE GOT THIS LONGER PIECE WHICH I'VE STARTED BENDING AROUND. HOLD IT IN PLACE. AND CURVE IT AROUND THE END. STICK DOWN THE EDGES. AND NOW I CAN GO AROUND AND GET THAT SHAPE A BIT MORE THOROUGH.
[Upbeat music continues, rustling]
Bec turns the slice over and tapes the strips to the edges.
Bec says, WE'LL TURN IT OVER AND ADD SOME TO THE OUTSIDE AS WELL. DON'T STICK IT DOWN TOO WELL OTHERWISE, YOU'LL NEVER BE ABLE TO GET YOUR SWEETS OUT.
[Slide whistle, splattering, mellow music plays, scissors snipping]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, Bec cuts a flap in the middle of the rounded strip of cardboard.
Bec says, BEFORE I PUT THE TOP ON, I'M GOING TO CUT A FLAP AT THE TOP HERE. THIS IS SO WE HAVE SOMEWHERE TO PUT OUR SWEETS.
[Snipping, mellow music plays]
Bec pokes a hole in the folding side of the flap.
Bec says, ON THE OTHER SIDE, I'M GOING TO POKE A SMALL HOLE WITH A PENCIL. WATCH YOUR FINGERS. I DON'T WANT TO MAKE IT TOO BIG. THE HOLE IS SO WE CAN THREAD SOME WOOL THROUGH AND HANG IT UP.
Bec puts a plastic lid on red modelling clay and pokes two holes in the lid with a pencil. She removes the clay and uses the pencil to push red thread through a hole. She pulls the thread into the hole and uses the pencil to push it through the second hole.
Bec says, TIME TO USE MAX'S FIRST INGREDIENT, THE BOTTLE TOPS AND LIDS. I'LL TAKE ONE OF THEM AND USE A PENCIL AND SOME MODELING CLAY TO POKE TWO HOLES IN THE LID. WITH A LONG PIECE OF WOOL, THREAD IT THROUGH THE HOLES. CAN USE THE PENCIL TO HELP ME. THREAD IT THROUGH AND POKE IT OUT THE OTHER SIDE. THERE WE GO.
[Creaking, lid clattering]
Bec knots the string together. She pushes the thread through the hole in the cardboard, with the lid inside the slice and the looped thread on the other side of the crust.
Bec says, ONCE IT'S THREADED THROUGH, TIE A KNOT IN THE END. TYING THEM BOTH TOGETHER AND THEN THREAD IT THROUGH THE HOLE ON THE CRUST. THERE WE ARE. AND THEN PULL IT THROUGH TO CREATE A STOPPER. THE REASON WE'VE DONE THAT IS BECAUSE IT'LL MAKE THE STRING NICE AND STRONG SO YOU CAN HIT YOUR PIÑATA AS HARD AS YOU LIKE. TIME TO ADD THE TOP OF THE PIZZA AND SECURE IT WITH SOME MORE MASKING TAPE.
[Splattering, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, Bec puts the second pizza slice on the open side of the 3-D slice and tapes it.
Bec says, I'VE FINISHED CONSTRUCTING MY PIZZA SLICE. NOW TO GIVE IT SOME SAUCE AND CHEESE. I'M GOING TO USE MAX'S SECOND INGREDIENT, THE TISSUE PAPER. FOLD IT UP A FEW TIMES AND THEN CUT SOME TRIANGLES INTO IT.
[Scissors snipping]
Bec folds a strip of yellow tissue paper and cuts triangles in it. She cuts the edge of folded red tissue paper.
Bec says, READY? OH, YUM! AND THERE IS SOME MELTED CHEESE. NOW FOR SOME GOOEY TOMATO SAUCE. GIVE THIS ONE A DIFFERENT PATTERN. WHEN YOU OPEN IT UP, YOU HAVE A LOVELY LONG STRIP OF SHAPES. LET'S STICK THEM ON. GLUE THE PIZZA. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT'S MESSY BECAUSE NOW WE'RE GLUING SOME TISSUE PAPER AROUND IT.
[Snipping, paper rustling]
Bec uses a glue stick on the cardboard side strips. She wraps them around the top and the edges of the slice.
Bec says, WE'LL START FROM THE BOTTOM UP TO GIVE IT A LAYERED EFFECT. AND A BIT OF YELLOW. AND KEEP GOING.
[Splattering, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, paint drips over the slice. In live action, Bec glues brown tissue paper to the top of her slice.
Bec says, I'M JUST STICKING ON THE LAST OF THE CRUST USING SOME BROWN TISSUE PAPER. THERE WE GO!
[Rustling]
Bec turns the pizza slice.
Bec says, NOW, THIS PIZZA NEEDS SOME TOPPINGS. I'M GOING TO USE THE REST OF MAX'S FIRST INGREDIENTS. THE RECYCLED BOTTLE TOPS AND LIDS. I'VE PAINTED THESE LIDS BROWN TO LOOK LIKE PEPPERONI.
[Upbeat music plays, slurping]
Bec holds up two brown lids and licks her lips. She glues the lids over the tissue paper. She adds red and black bottle tops. She adds green strips of a scouring pad and flat yellow rectangles of sponge.
Bec says, I'M GONNA USE STRONG GLUE TO POP THESE ON. ONE HERE, ONE HERE, AND ONE HERE. GONNA GIVE IT A COUPLE PIECES OF TOMATO AS WELL. I THINK THESE RED BOTTLE TOPS ARE PERFECT FOR THAT. AND THERE. WHAT TOPPINGS DO YOU LIKE ON YOUR PIZZA? I LIKE BLACK OLIVES. ON THEY GO. FOR MORE TOPPINGS, I'VE CUT UP AN OLD SCOURER TO LOOK LIKE GREEN PEPPER. AND FINALLY, ONE OF MY FAVOURITE TOPPINGS, PINEAPPLE PIECES CUT OUT OF A YELLOW SPONGE.
[Candy wrappers rustling, thudding]
Bec opens the flap at the top of the slice and puts handfuls of the wrapped candy inside.
Bec says, TIME TO ADD MAX'S THIRD INGREDIENT, THE SWEETS. OPEN THE LID AND POP THEM INTO THE HATCH. CLOSE THE LID. AND THERE IS YOUR PIZZA PIÑATA READY TO WHACK. WHILE I PACKAGE THIS UP FOR MAX, HERE'S SOME OTHER IDEAS.
[Whooshing]
In an animation, scissors cut across a yellow screen. In live action, a triangular rocket piñata hangs on a string, with red, yellow, and orange tissue paper fire dangling from two rockets. A yellow piñata features black holes and a brown mouse.
Bec asks, WHY NOT BLAST OFF WITH THIS ROCKET? OR MAKE A SLICE OF SMELLY CHEESE? WITH A HUNGRY MOUSE.
[Upbeat music plays]
In Makeaway Takeaway, Bec puts a blue gift bag into a slot in the wall.
Bec says, I HOPE IT'S A HIT. ONE MAKE OF THE DAY ON ITS WAY.
[Chiming, whooshing, thumping]
Bec pushes a button. In front of a house door, Max hits the pizza piñata with a stick.
Max says, THANKS, BEC. I LOVE MY PIZZA PIÑATA.
[Thumping, candy thudding]
Max hits the piñata, and the candy falls to the ground.
In Makeaway Takeaway, Bec says, SMASHING. ANOTHER HAPPY CUSTOMER.
[Whooshing, zooming]
Title: “Makeaway Takeaway.”
At a table, Bec sits with a laptop computer in front of her.
Bec says, EEE! THE DIRECTOR JUST SENT ME THE AD. I HOPE I LIKE IT!
[Clicking, rock music plays]
Bec pushes a key, and the ad begins. The ad shows Makeaway Takeaway. The plates move on the conveyor belt. Bec dances with her hands raised in the air.
An announcer says, THE NUMBER ONE TAKEAWAY IN THE WORLD! CREATING THE ARTIEST ART EVER SEEN. UNLIKE ANYTHING KNOWN TO MANKIND. CHANGING LIVES. IT'S MAKEAWAY TAKEAWAY.
[Splattering]
The Makeaway Takeaway logo covers Bec’s upper body. The ad ends. Bec sits open-mouthed.
Bec says, I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW GOOD I AM!
[Triumphant music plays]
Bec says, THAT'S THE BEST AD EVER! AND I'M THE STAR.
[Telephone ringing]
Bec says, THE BANANA PHONE! THAT MUST BE HOLLYWOOD CALLING.
[Beeping]
Bec answers the banana-shaped telephone.
Bec says, HELLO, MAKEAWAY TAKEAWAY.
On a split screen, a girl with dark brown hair in a ponytail wears eyeglasses and a bright orange T-shirt.
The brown-haired girl, Sophia, says, HI, BEC. MY NAME IS SOPHIA. CAN YOU COME AND DELIVER AN ARTY SURPRISE FOR OUR FILM WORKSHOP LEADERS, PAUL AND SARAH, AT THE B.F.I.?
Bec says, SOUNDS LIKE THE PERFECT CHALLENGE. I'D BETTER GET A MOVIE ON.
[Beeping]
Bec ends the call.
Bec says, TIME TO SPLIT.
[Slide whistle, whooshing, zooming]
Title: “Makeaway Takeaway.”
[Whooshing, light music plays]
Later, Bec hides behind a tree in front of a sign for “B.F.I. Southbank.” Inside, Paul, a man with short brown hair, stands beside a spotlight. He wears a black shirt. Students wearing orange shirts sit in rows of chairs in front of him.
Paul says, HEY, GUYS. TODAY IN FILM CLUB, WE'RE GOING TO MAKE A FIVE-SHOT FILM.
Sarah, who has chin-length black hair, stands beside a student holding a tablet.
Sarah points and says, LEO'S FACE, PLEASE.
Bec runs into a theatre and looks around. In the class, a boy with short hair films a girl.
[Background chattering]
Bec opens the classroom door.
Bec whispers, OLIVIA! SOPHIA! REEF!
[Background ambient noise]
Bec beckons, and Sophia and two other students leave the room. Bec and the students sit on a bench. Bec greets Olivia and Reef on one side and turns to Sophia on her other side. Olivia has blonde hair in two braids, and Reef has short brown hair.
Bec says, HI, OLIVIA! HI, REEF! HI, SOPHIA!
Olivia says, HI, BEC.
Reef says, HI.
Bec says, SO, YOU'D LIKE ME TO DELIVER AN ARTY SURPRISE FOR PAUL AND SARAH?
A split screen shows Paul and Sarah standing beside a spotlight each.
Reef says, YES, PLEASE. WE LOVE MAKING MOVIES AND WE COME TO THE B.F.I. WHERE PAUL AND SARAH TEACH US.
Bec says, OH, THAT'S NICE. TELL ME MORE.
Sophia says, THIS TIME WE'VE BEEN LEARNING ABOUT (UNCLEAR) AND ANIMATION.
Bec says, REALLY? ANIMATION YOU SAY? ALL RIGHT, YOU'VE GIVEN ME AN IDEA. HOW ABOUT A STOP-MOTION FILM USING PIXEL ART?
The children say, YEAH!
Bec says, YEAH? OKAY, LET'S GET TO WORK.
[Camera shutter snapping, lively music plays]
Bec stands in front of the red theatre chairs. She holds a remote control attached to the camera by a cable. The students in the aisles on each side of the chairs are holding black paper.
Through a megaphone, Bec says, OKAY, MY LOVELY LITTLE PIXELS. LET'S GET INTO PLACE. COME IN! COME IN! THAT'S RIGHT. TAKE YOUR SEATS.
[Whooshing]
The students sit in a cluster and hold the black paper in front of them.
Through the megaphone, Bec says, ALL RIGHT, I WANT TO SEE YOUR BLACK CARDS OUT. EXCELLENT WORK AT THE BACK THERE. THAT IS LOOKING LOVELY. KEEP YOUR CARDS STILL.
[Camera shutter snapping]
Bec takes a photograph of the students forming a number 5 with their black cards.
Through the megaphone, Bec says, GOT IT! THANK YOU VERY MUCH. LET'S GET THE NEXT ONE IN!
The students sit and hold up white paper.
Through the megaphone, Bec says, NICE AND QUICK! NICE AND QUICK! LOVE IT!
[Blipping, camera shutter snapping, whirring]
A student at the back peeks around her card.
Through the megaphone, Bec says, PIXELS MOVE IN.
[Camera shutter snapping, whirring]
Bec takes a photograph of the students creating a number 3.
Through the megaphone, Bec says, PIXELS MOVE OUT.
[Camera shutter snapping]
They form a number 2.
Through the megaphone, Bec says, KEEP YOUR CARDS STILL.
[Camera shutter snapping]
The students create a number 1.
Through the megaphone, Bec says, ELI, YOU TURN AROUND. YES, YOU.
[Camera shutter snapping]
Eli turns his paper from the black side to the white side.
Through the megaphone, Bec says, OKAY, AND NEXT POSITION. GO! GO! GO! BRILLIANT!
[Camera shutter snapping, lively music plays, Reef yawning]
The students move their cards, and Bec takes photographs.
Through the megaphone, Bec says, NO TIME FOR YAWNING!
[Camera shutter snapping]
Bec says, AND THAT'S A WRAP! WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SAY TO PAUL AND SARAH?
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, the students sit in the theatre. Bec, Sophia, Sarah, Paul, Reef, and Olivia sit in the front row. Reef holds a bag of popcorn. Behind them, the other students hold popcorn bags.
Sophia says, THANK YOU SO MUCH, PAUL AND SARAH, FOR ALL OF THE COOL THINGS YOU'VE TAUGHT US ABOUT FILM.
Olivia says, WE'VE LEARNED SO MUCH FROM YOU OVER THE YEARS.
Paul says, WELL, IT'S BEEN AN ABSOLUTE PLEASURE TO WORK WITH YOU GUYS.
Sarah says, THANK YOU, GUYS. YOU'VE BEEN LOVELY.
Bec says, WELL, NOW LET'S SIT BACK AND RELAX AND ENJOY OUR MASTERPIECE.
[Munching, lively music plays, whooshing, clap board snapping, dinging]
In the film, the students hold cards counting down from 5 to 1. They form a clapboard and move to make the top snap down. They move with yellow cards, making firework-like formations. They create a large white heart. In the middle of the heart, a student turns their paper, and it reads, “Thank You.” The film ends.
[Applause, cheering]
Paul says, OH, WOW, GUYS! THAT WAS AMAZING! WELL DONE.
Sarah says, I REALLY, REALLY LOVED THAT. THAT WAS SO CREATIVE AND SO CLEVER.
Bec says, IT'S BEEN ANOTHER BRILLIANT DAY OF DELIVERING ART TO YOUR DOOR. SEE YOU NEXT TIME ON--
Everyone says, MAKEAWAY TAKEAWAY!

In an animation, a takeout restaurant has a countertop with jars of paint and a box of paintbrushes. Jars and cups filled with art supplies sit on two coolers beside a drink machine. A menu features pictures of food, brushes, paint, scissors, and condiment bottles. Live-action video clips show Bec Hill, in her thirties, holding her staff card. She has curly pink hair.
Video footage shows Bec creating a wolf shape against an orange background, a red-haired boy looking at a tablet, Bec putting dots on artwork, and students sitting in chairs in front of spotlights and a camera. Children hold cardboard squares and move along rows of red theatre seats.
