[Energetic music plays]
[Whistling]
In the Makeaway Takeaway restaurant, various craft supplies fill fridges, cover countertops, and adorn menus, including bottles of paint, scissors, sponges, ribbon, and a box of paintbrushes and pens. Host Bec Hill talks on her banana phone. Bec wears her long, curly pink hair in an updo. In her Makeaway Takeaway uniform, she wears a yellow polo shirt with a light blue collar, and a dark blue skirt with suspenders over light blue shorts. Bec paints a self-portrait with bubble wrap. Plates, cups, paint, sunglasses, balled-up paper, and straws move on a conveyor belt. Bec pulls a bucket off her head. Three children paint. Bec spreads glue across a strip of paper and holds a colander over her head. A black-haired girl dances. Bec announces the title.
Bec says, MAKEAWAY TAKEAWAY!
[Doorbell ringing]
[Cheerful, upbeat music plays]
At Makeaway Takeaway, Bec stands behind the front counter with an open book.
Bec says, FASCINATING.
Bec looks up and says, OH, HELLO! I'M BEC. WELCOME TO MAKEAWAY TAKEAWAY!
Bec looks at pictures of trees in the book.
Bec says, I'M JUST TRYING TO FIND MYSELF ON THIS FAMILY TREE. HANG ON A MINUTE. THIS ISN'T A FAMILY TREE! IT'S A CHRISTMAS TREE!
Bec looks at a picture of a tree on the book's cover.
[Bec groaning]
Bec says, I'VE GOT THE WRONG BOOK! WHILE I FIND THE RIGHT ONE, CHECK OUT TODAY'S MENU.
[Whooshing]
Rolls of paper unravel. Title: Makeaway Takeaway.
[Whooshing]
[Upbeat music plays]
Bec narrates, COMING UP ON TODAY'S SHOW. A TECHNIQUE THAT'S HIDDEN IN THE SAND.
At the lunch table, Bec pours sand over a drawing.
Bec narrates, I GET A CALL FROM A CUSTOMER WHO NEEDS HELP STORING HER CRAFTY MATERIALS.
In a craft room, a girl with her long, curly black hair tied back stands at a table with Bec and a box that resembles a sleeping animal.
Bec narrates, AND WE DELIVER AN ARTY SURPRISE TO A CREATIVE CASTLE PERFORMER.
In a forest, a black-haired archer with a neatly trimmed beard shoots an arrow at a balloon. The balloon bursts open, and sawdust falls out.
[Whooshing]
Title: Makeaway Takeaway.
[Whooshing]
[Whistling]
Behind the front counter, Bec pulls out a large dusty book.
[Gentle, joyful music plays]
Bec says, HERE IT IS!
Bec places the book on the counter and blows dust off the cover.
[Thudding]
[Blowing]
Bec says, NOW TO SEE WHERE I AM ON MY FAMILY TREE. OR AS I LIKE TO CALL IT, MY ANCES-TREE!
[Drum rim shot]
Bec says, GET IT?
Bec opens the book to a page with videos of her relatives. The videos include a cat woman licking her paw, a cavewoman, a woman posing with a vase of white roses, a woman wearing a Roman sash and a woman dressed as a jester.
Bec says, OOH! IT'S MY GREAT-GREAT-GREAT AUNTIE CAT. SHE WAS EGYPTIAN AND PURR-FECT. AND SHE'S GIVEN ME AN IDEA FOR…
Bec closes the book and cheers, …A TAKEAWAY TECHNIQUE!
[Exciting music plays]
[Whooshing]
[Scissors snipping]
Bec takes a seat at the lunch table with a variety of craft supplies laid out, including a white piece of paper, a glue stick, a ruler, a black marker, a pair of scissors, a bowl of sand and a paper cup.
Bec says, I'M GOING TO SHOW YOU A SAND ART TECHNIQUE, BECAUSE I'VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT HISTORY, I'M GOING TO DO A PICTURE OF AN ANCIENT EGYPTIAN PHARAOH.
[Gentle, cheerful music plays]
Bec says, I'LL START BY FOLDING A PIECE OF PAPER IN HALF VERTICALLY. SYMMETRY IS IMPORTANT IN THIS, SO I'M GOING TO DRAW HALF A PHARAOH'S FACE. I'M JUST GOING OFF THE FOLDED EDGE HERE. WITH THE EAR. AND THE CHIN. AND I'LL DO A HEADDRESS.
Bec folds her white piece of paper vertically and draws the right half of a pharaoh’s head and headdress with her black marker.
Bec says, THERE WE GO. NOW, I'M GONNA CUT IT OUT. WHEN I FOLD IT OUT, I HAVE A SYMMETRICAL SHAPE. THIS WILL MAKE THE NEXT BIT MUCH EASIER.
Bec cuts the pharaoh out of the paper with her scissors. She unfolds the paper and lays it flat on the table.
[Gentle, upbeat music plays]
Bec draws the mirror image of the pharaoh’s head and headdress on the blank left side of the paper.
Bec says, I'M MIRRORING THE DRAWING ON THE OTHER SIDE. AND I'LL ADD SOME DETAILS. A SNAKE ON THE HEADDRESS AND A BEARD. GIVE THE PHARAOH SOME EYES. LET'S ADD SOME DOTS FOR JEWELS AND SOME LINES.
Bec draws a snake’s head on the headdress above the middle of the pharaoh’s forehead. She adds a beard, eyes and circles. The pharaoh also has eyebrows, a nose, a mouth and details in the ears. Bec grabs a ruler.
Bec says, I'M USING A RULER TO MAKE SURE THEY'RE STRAIGHT. THESE LINES ARE GOING TO ACT AS A GUIDE SO I KNOW WHERE TO PUT MY GLUE LATER.
Bec draws straight lines across the pharaoh’s headdress with the ruler.
Bec says, SO, I'M GOING TO SCRIBBLE WHERE I WANT THE SAND TO GO.
Bec scribbles in every other space between the lines in the pharaoh’s headdress.
[Paint splattering]
Later at the lunch table, Bec says, NOW, I'VE DONE THAT. LET'S STICK THE PAPER TO SOME CARD.
[Exciting music plays]
Bec says, I'M USING BLACK CARD TO MAKE IT REALLY STAND OUT.
Bec glues the pharaoh onto a large piece of black card paper with her glue stick.
Bec says, IT'S NICE AND CENTRED. NOW, FOR THE FUN PART! I'VE PUT SOME P.V.A. GLUE IN A SQUEEZEY BOTTLE AND I'M GOING TO FOLLOW THE LINES. I'LL START WITH THE OUTLINE AROUND THE OUTSIDE. I NEED TO DO IT QUITE QUICKLY BEFORE THE GLUE DRIES.
Bec outlines the pharaoh with a line of glue.
Bec says, I'LL DO SOME OF THE THICK STRIPES NEXT. IT'S LIKE ICING A CAKE. KEEP GOING UNTIL ALL OF THE DETAILS ARE COVERED IN GLUE.
Bec squeezes lines of glue along the black lines of the pharaoh drawing and fills the spaces with scribbles entirely with glue.
[Paint splattering]
Later at the lunch table, Bec says, I'VE COVERED THE LINES IN GLUE. NOW, LET'S ADD SOME SAND. I'M GOING TO DO THIS OVER A TRAY SO I DON'T MAKE TOO MUCH OF A MESS. LET'S SPRINKLE IT OVER THE GLUE COVERING THE WHOLE PICTURE.
Bec places the black card on a tray and scoops sand out of the bowl with the paper cup. She pours sand over the entire drawing.
Bec says, DEPENDING ON THE SAND, YOU MIGHT WANT TO LEAVE THIS TO DRY A LITTLE BIT BEFORE YOU REVEAL IT.
Bec empties the cup and says, THERE WE GO. TIME FOR THE MAGIC REVEAL!
[Intense music plays]
Bec slowly lifts one side of the black card and gently shakes sand off the pharaoh.
Bec says, YOU CAN SEE ALL OF THE SAND HAS STUCK TO THE GLUE.
Bec pours the rest of the sand off the pharaoh onto the tray. Sand now covers the black marker lines of the drawing and the glue-filled spaces. Bec pushes the tray aside and lays the picture on the table.
Bec says, HAPPY WITH THAT. AND THERE IS A PICTURE OF AN ANCIENT EGYPTIAN PHARAOH MADE USING A SAND ART TECHNIQUE.
The pharaoh picture sparkles.
[Chimes]
[Paint splattering]
[Whooshing]
At the front counter, Bec says, WHOA! CHECK THIS OUT! I'M RELATED TO THE FIRST ARTIST EVER!
Bec looks at the cavewoman in her family tree book.
Bec says, KAREN THE CAVEWOMAN.
In a video in the book, Karen the Cavewoman draws a stick figure on a sheet of rock with a piece of white chalk. Karen has long brown hair and wears a bone necklace.
[Karen grunting]
Karen scratches her head and smiles proudly.
Bec says, WOW! SHE WAS SO COOL! AND WAY AHEAD OF HER TIME.
[Ringing notification]
An order ticket prints from the Makeaway Takeaway order screen.
[Printer whirring]
[Bec gasping]
Bec says, A CUSTOMER!
[Upbeat music plays]
Bec puts down her book on the counter and runs over to the screen. In a video on the order ticket, the girl with long, curly black hair wears a pink T-shirt. She smiles and waves.
The black-haired girl says, HELLO, MAKEAWAY TAKEAWAY. BEC! I NEED YOUR HELP! I LOVE CRAFTING. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I EVEN DRAW IN MY SLEEP. I HAVE LOTS OF ART MATERIALS. BUT I HAVE NOWHERE TO PUT THEM. BEC, CAN YOU HELP?
Bec says, WELL, I KNOW A THING OR TWO ABOUT ORGANIZING CRAFT MATERIALS. ONE ARTY DELIVERY COMING RIGHT UP!
Bec grabs the order ticket and leaves.
[Energetic music plays]
In a comic book panel, Bec ties the laces on her pink sneakers and straightens her socks. She snaps her suspenders and puts on a Makeaway Takeaway visor. Bec puts on a craft tool belt which carries a paint roller, pen, scissors and other craft supplies. She straightens the collar of her shirt, winks, and gives a thumbs-up.
Bec says, LET'S DO THIS!
Bec takes off running.
[Whooshing]
[Gentle, cheerful music plays]
On a couch, the black-haired girl sits beside a woman with long black hair in tight braids. The woman wears glasses and a green, long-sleeved sweater over a white turtleneck. The woman and the black-haired girl tickle each other and smile.
The black-haired girl narrates, HELLO, MY NAME'S SHIKAY, AND I'M FROM MANCHESTER. THIS IS MY MUM AND MY PET RABBIT, BOX.
Shikay and her mum, the black-haired woman, share a hug. Shikay holds a picture of herself with a grey and white rabbit. Outdoors, Shikay wears an orange apron and red beret. She paints with an easel.
Shikay narrates, THERE'S ONE THING THAT I LOVE JUST AS MUCH AS MY PET RABBIT AND THAT'S ART.
Shikay faces her backyard and paints a drawing of a rabbit.
Shikay narrates, IT'S ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SUBJECTS AT SCHOOL AND WHAT I DO ALL WEEKEND.
In her bedroom, Shikay lies in bed with art supplies scattered across her blanket, drawing on a sketchpad. Her mum brings her a bowl of cereal and steps on art supplies on the floor, including colourful paper and pens. Shikay’s mum puts the bowl on the bedside table and shakes her head. In the living room, Shikay’s mum vacuums around markers and crayons on the floor.
[Vacuum whirring]
Shikay narrates, THERE'S JUST ONE PROBLEM. I HAVE SO MANY ART MATERIALS, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO KEEP THEM.
Shikay’s mum takes a seat on the couch. She pulls a paintbrush out from under her and frowns. Kneeling on the floor beside her, Shikay draws on a piece of yellow paper.
Shikay narrates, BEC WILL KNOW WHAT TO DO. SHE'LL COME UP WITH A CREATIVE SOLUTION.
[Doorbell ringing]
Shikay looks up and says, THAT WAS QUICK!
[Whooshing]
[Scissors snipping]
In a craft room, Shikay stands behind a table wearing a blue Makeaway Takeaway apron. Craft supplies on the table include recycled cups, cans, containers, and boxes, as well as scissors, coloured pencils, paintbrushes, strips of blue card paper, and pom-poms. Bec joins Shikay.
Bec says, HI, SHIKAY!
Shikay says, HI, BEC!
Bec asks, HOW CAN I HELP?
Shikay says, I HAVE SO MANY ART MATERIALS, BUT NOWHERE TO PUT THEM AND MY MUM'S GETTING FED UP.
Bec says, OH, I KNOW THAT PROBLEM VERY WELL. HOW ABOUT A LLAMA CRAFT TABLE?
[Fanfare plays]
[Cheering and applause]
A cardboard craft table with a smiling lama head is shown on the table. Containers of art supplies, including pencils, markers and brushes hang off the sides.
[Paint splattering]
At the craft table, Bec says, FIRST, WE'RE GOING TO NEED A RECYCLED CARDBOARD BOX.
[Gentle, uplifting music plays]
Bec picks up a large, topless cardboard box from the floor.
Bec says, GOT ONE HERE. AND I'VE CUT THE TOP OFF AND TAPED DOWN THE BOTTOM.
Bec shows Shikay the inside of the box where the bottom flaps are taped down. Bec flips the box onto its side on the table.
Bec says, NEXT, I'M GOING TO DRAW A SQUARE ACROSS HERE WITH A RULER.
Bec marks a square on the box with her fingers, and Shikay nods.
Bec says, I'LL START ON THIS SIDE. THESE ARE GOING TO BE OUR LLAMA'S LEGS. THIS IS OUR LLAMA'S TUMMY. AND THEN, THE OTHER LEG. I'M GOING TO DO ALL OF THE OTHER SIDES AS WELL.
On one side of the box, Bec draws three lines in the middle with a ruler and a black marker.
[Paint splattering]
Later at the craft table, Bec says, FINISHED! POP THIS ASIDE AND WE'LL COME BACK TO THAT LATER.
Bec sets the box with marked cut lines all around it on the floor.
[Gentle, upbeat music plays]
Bec says, FIRST, THE LLAMA'S GONNA NEED A HEAD, SO SHIKAY, YOU'VE GOT A TEABAG BOX AND A BISCUIT BOX FROM YOUR RECYCLING THERE. I THINK THIS WILL MAKE THE PERFECT LLAMA HEAD.
Shikay passes Bec a recycled biscuit box.
Bec says, SO I'M GONNA PUT A SPLODGE OF STRONG GLUE AND I'M ONLY PUTTING IT ON HALF OF THE BOX BECAUSE THIS IS THE LLAMA'S NECK AND THAT'S THE LLAMA'S HEAD.
Bec squeezes glue across half the biscuit box in an X shape. Shikay places the lower half of a recycled teabag box on the glue.
Bec says, OH, PERFECT POSITION. WHILE THAT DRIES, WE'LL CUT OUT THE BIG BOX!
Shikay pushes the llama head boxes aside, and Bec puts the big box on the table. Bec and Shikay cut along the cut lines and remove the squares of cardboard on all sides of the box with scissors.
Bec says, WE'VE CUT IT ALL OUT AND THERE IS THE TABLE.
Bec flips the box, now a table, onto its legs.
Shikay says, OH, YEAH! IT DOES LOOK LIKE A TABLE.
Bec says, YEAH, AND IT'S GONNA BE A LLAMA'S BODY.
Bec flips the table back onto its side and says, SO, WE'RE GONNA START PAINTING. SHIKAY'S PAINTING THE LLAMA WHITE, AND I'M DOING THE HOOVES.
Shikay paints a leg of the table white. Bec paints the feet of the table dark brown.
Bec asks, WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE ANIMAL?
Shikay PENGUINS. WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE ANIMAL?
Bec says, A BUMPHEAD PARROT FISH.
[Shikay giggling]
Bec says, LOOKS LIKE IT'S GOT MASSIVE TEETH. LIKE IT'S LIKE "EEEH".
Bec raises her upper lip.
[Shikay giggling]
Bec paints another leg of the table white. Shikay grabs the llama head boxes and paints them white.
Bec says, WE'RE ALSO PAINTING SOME RECYCLED POTS TO USE AS STORAGE.
Shikay holds two recycled containers against one side of the table. Bec paints a container blue.
Bec says, I'M MIXING P.V.A. INTO THE PAINT SO IT STICKS TO THE PLASTIC.
Shikay paints a recycled can purple.
Bec says, IF YOU DON'T WANT TO PAINT, YOU COULD USE STICKERS TO DECORATE YOUR POTS.
Bec and Shikay place different-coloured circle stickers on plastic cups.
[Paint splattering]
Later at the craft table, Bec says, WE’VE FINISHED OUR POTS, NOW, LET'S STICK THEM ON. I'LL POP SOME STRONG GLUE ON.
Shikay holds a plastic cup with stickers against the glue on one side of the table.
Bec says, THE MASKING TAPE'S THERE TO HOLD THE POT IN PLACE WHILE THE GLUE DRIES.
Bec tapes the cup to the table.
Bec says, NOW, WE'LL DO THE OTHER SIDE!
Bec turns the table around. Later, at the table, recycled containers hang from opposite sides with masking tape holding them in place.
Bec says, WE'VE STUCK ALL THE POTS ON BOTH SIDES AND I'M JUST GONNA POP THIS DOWN HERE WHILE THE GLUE DRIES. AND I HAVE A BIG SHEET OF CARD THAT I PAINTED YELLOW EARLIER. THIS IS GOING TO BE THE TABLETOP. AND ON THE OTHER SIDE, I'VE PUT DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE ON EACH SIDE AND WE'RE GOING TO MAKE SOME HANDLES FOR THE TABLE.
Bec sets the table on the floor and pulls out a large sheet of cardboard painted orange. She flips the sheet. Bec and Shikay pull off the covering of strips of double-sided tape on the top and bottom of the card.
Bec says, THESE STRIPS OF BLUE CARD ARE GOING TO BE THE HANDLES. LET'S SLIDE THEM UNDER.
Shikay holds up the cardboard sheet, and Bec slides two long blue strips of card paper under. The strips lie vertically under the horizontal sheet.
Bec says, JUST GONNA TAKE THE ENDS OF THEM AND FOLD THEM OVER.
Bec and Shikay fold the ends of their blue strips onto the bottom strip of double-sided tape.
Bec says, AND THEN, WE'LL TAKE THE OTHER SIDE. JUST GONNA BEND IT WITH A LITTLE TAB. LIFT IT UP TO CREATE A LOOP.
Bec grabs the other, longer end of her strip and folds a small part of it. She sticks the small part onto the top strip of tape. She creates a handle-like loop out of the strip.
Bec asks, WANT TO GIVE IT A GO, SHIKAY?
Shikay says, YEAH.
Shikay folds a part of the end of her strip and sticks it on the tape.
Bec says, PERFECT. THIS IS THE HANDLES. CAN YOU HANDLE THAT?
Bec flips the cardboard sheet and holds it by the blue strip handles. She passes it to Shikay.
Bec says, YES, YOU CAN. BRING THE LLAMA BACK UP.
Bec grabs the llama table.
Bec says, OKAY, AND IF YOU LIFT THAT UP.
Shikay raises the cardboard sheet out of Bec’s way, and Bec puts the llama table on the craft table.
Bec says, PUT IT ON TOP.
Bec and Shikay stick the cardboard sheet onto the table.
Bec says, AND IT'S GONNA STICK DOWN WITH THAT DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE. YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE. YOU COULD ALSO USE STRONG GLUE. THIS IS THE GIVE THE TABLE SOME STRENGTH. LOOKS GREAT! BUT IT'S MISSING ITS HEAD!
[Paint splattering]
Later at the craft table, Bec points to a pair of white and pink curved animal ears. A strip of red ribbon with different-coloured pom-poms lies nearby.
Bec says, I'VE MADE SOME CURVED EARS WITH SOME WHITE AND PINK CARD, AND I'M JUST CUTTING SOME TABS AT THE END. ONLY ABOUT A CENTIMETRE LONG. AND FOLDING THEM UP.
Bec cuts small, evenly spaced tabs into the bottom of the ears. She folds the tabs up.
Bec says, THIS IS SO I CAN CURVE THE EARS AROUND AND STICK THEM DOWN LIKE THAT.
Bec curves one of the ears inward and sticks it on the head of the painted, recycled llama boxes with double-sided tape.
Bec says, THERE'S ONE EAR. THERE'S ANOTHER ONE.
Bec sticks the second ear onto the llama head box.
Bec says, NOW, I'M GONNA GIVE THE LLAMA A FACE. I'LL DRAW THE EYES, SOME EYELASHES AND NOSE. AND A SMILEY MOUTH.
Bec draws closed eyes, eyelashes, a nose and a smiling mouth onto the box with a black marker.
Bec says, ALL RIGHT, LET'S ADD THE RIBBON. I'M USING DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE, BUT YOU COULD ALSO USE GLUE
Bec peels the cover layer off the double-sided tape on the red ribbon. She sticks the ribbon on the llama head box between the llama’s eyes and nose.
[Paint splattering]
[Gentle, upbeat music plays]
Later at the craft table, Bec says, WE STUCK THE HEAD ON WITH SOME STRONG GLUE, AND WE'RE JUST FINISHING ATTACHING THE RIBBON.
The llama head hangs off the front of the llama table. Bec and Shikay stick the pom-pom ribbon to the recycled containers on either side of the table.
Bec says, GREAT! LET'S PUT YOUR ART MATERIALS IN THE POTS.
Bec and Shikay fill the containers with paintbrushes, coloured pencils and markers.
Bec says, AND THERE YOU HAVE YOUR LLAMA CRAFT TABLE.
[Paint splattering]
[Gentle music plays]
In Shikay’s living room, Shikay’s mum sits on the couch. Shikay carries in her llama craft table by the handles. Shikay kneels behind the table and grabs a marker from one of the recycled containers.
Shikay says, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MY LLAMA CRAFT TABLE. NOW, I HAVE PLENTY OF SPACE TO STORE MY ARTY MATERIALS.
Shikay’s mum smiles and says, AND I'LL NEVER SIT ON A PAINTBRUSH AGAIN.
At Makeaway Takeaway, Bec says, ANOTHER HAPPY CUSTOMER.
Bec places Shikay’s order ticket in a tray on the back counter.
[Register ding]
Bec says, BETTER GET BACK TO MY FAMILY TREE!
Bec turns to the front counter and opens her family tree book.
Bec says, OOH! APPARENTLY, I'M RELATED TO THE WOMAN IN LEONARDO DA VINCI'S MOST FAMOUS PAINTING, THE "MONA LISA".
In a video in the book, the brown-haired woman in the Mona Lisa painting looks annoyed.
The brown-haired woman says, OH, MY BUM HURTS. THIS CHAIR IS HARD. WHAT'S IT MADE FROM? ROCKS?
[Sighing]
The brown-haired woman says, I'M BORED. CAN WE GO HOME YET? ARE YOU DONE?
At the counter, Bec says, OH, NO! LISA WAS A RIGHT MOANER!
Bec closes the book and says, BUT IT DOES REMIND ME OF SOME PAPER PUPPETRY!
[Whooshing]
Title: Makeaway Takeaway.
[Whooshing]
[Gentle, upbeat music plays]
Bec stands beside a large pad of paper with a drawing of the Mona Lisa. Bec looks at the painting with a thoughtful expression. A fly flutters around Bec.
[Fly buzzing]
Bec swats at the fly. She pulls a lever sticking out of the pad at the Mona Lisa’s eye level and makes the dot eyes in the Mona Lisa move. The fly flutters around the drawing. Bec makes the painting’s eyes roll and cross. Bec crosses her own eyes.
[Whooshing]
Behind the front counter, Bec looks at her family tree book.
Bec says, AH! THERE'S SO MANY FAMOUS FACES IN MY FAMILY. ACCORDING TO THIS, I'M RELATED TO VINCENT VAN GOGH… GOGH’S FLORIST.
A video in the book shows the woman holding a vase of white roses.
Bec says, I WONDER WHAT THEY WERE LIKE?
In a video, the woman holding the vase, the florist, stumbles and falls.
The florist yelps, OOH!
[Crashing]
An artist standing behind a canvas waves his hands.
The florist stands and says, OH, GOSH! I'M SO SORRY. THOSE WERE THE LAST ROSES. I'LL TELL YOU WHAT.
The florist grabs a vase of sunflowers.
The florist asks, WHY DON'T YOU PAINT THESE SUNFLOWERS INSTEAD.
The florist sets the vase on a table, and the artist gives a thumbs-up. The florist gives a thumbs-up and wipes her forehead.
The florist says, PHEW!
The florist steps away. Vincent van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” painting is shown.
Bec says, THAT'S LUCKY. THAT ARTWORK SOLD FOR MILLIONS.
[Register ding]
Bec says, AND IT'S GIVEN ME AN IDEA FOR A MEGA MINI MAKE.
[Paint splattering]
Bec walks over to the Mega Mini Make table and takes a seat. Craft supplies, including popsicle sticks, scissors, markers and glue, are laid out.
Bec says, I'M GOING TO MAKE A MINIATURE ART GALLERY. I'VE GOT FOUR LOLLY STICKS AND I'VE CUT THE END OFF ONE OF THEM. I'LL TAKE TWO OF THE FULL ONES AND PLACE THEM IN A TRIANGLE SHAPE.
Bec places two popsicle sticks, also known as lolly sticks, in a triangle shape.
[Gentle, upbeat music plays]
Bec says, NEXT, TAKE THE SMALL PIECE AND ADD A BIT OF STRONG GLUE TO THE ENDS. I'M USING A SPARE LOLLY STICK TO APPLY THE GLUE SO I DON'T USE TOO MUCH.
Bec spreads glue onto the ends of a quarter piece of a popsicle stick.
Bec says, STICK IT DOWN SO IT MAKES AN A-SHAPE. THIS IS GOING TO BE OUR EASEL'S FRAME.
Bec glues the ends of the small popsicle stick piece to the two full-size popsicle stick triangle and makes an A.
Bec says, SO, WHILE IT DRIES, I'M GOING TO MAKE A HINGE. I'LL TAKE THE REST OF THE LOLLY STICK AND A SMALL WOODEN STICK AND MAKE A T-SHAPE BY STICKING IT TO THE END.
Bec spreads glue onto the flat end of the three-quarter-sized popsicle stick.
Bec says, JUST A DAB OF GLUE ON THE EDGE. THEN I CAN PUSH THAT DOWN TO MAKE A T-SHAPE.
Bec sticks a small wooden dowel horizontally onto the top of the three-quarter-sized popsicle stick and makes a T.
Bec says, NEXT, I'LL TAKE A PAPER STRAW AND CUT TWO LITTLE PIECES OFF IT.
Bec cuts two small pieces off a paper straw and picks up her T-shaped popsicle stick.
Bec says, I'LL JUST MAKE SURE THIS IS DRY. AND THERE WE GO. AND I'M THREADING THESE PIECES OF STRAW ONTO THE ENDS AND I'M ADDING A TINY DOB OF GLUE HERE AND HERE.
Bec slides the small paper straw pieces onto each end of the small dowel. She dabs glue onto opposite ends of the quarter-sized popsicle stick piece.
Bec says, STICK IT ON TOP.
Bec places the pieces of paper straw on the T-shaped popsicle stick onto the glue.
Bec says, THERE WE ARE. THIS IS THE HINGE OF OUR EASEL'S STAND.
Bec raises and lowers the three-quarter-sized popsicle stick.
Bec says, I'LL FLIP IT OVER AND USE THE FINAL LOLLY STICK AS A REST FOR OUR ART. I'LL PUT THIS ON ITS SIDE SO IT ACTS LIKE A LEDGE.
Bec flips the popsicle stick easel over. She glues a full-sized popsicle stick on its side onto the two popsicle sticks that make a triangle near the bottom.
Bec says, WHILE THAT DRIES, LET'S MAKE A MASTERPIECE FOR OUR MINIATURE ART GALLERY.
Bec sets the mini easel aside and grabs a small white square piece of paper.
Bec says, I'LL TAKE A LITTLE SQUARE OF PAPER AND SOME PAINT AND DIP MY FINGER IN TO MAKE A FINGERPRINT.
Bec presses her index finger into green paint in a sponge. She presses her finger onto the square piece of paper.
Bec says, I THINK THIS WILL MAKE A GREAT LITTLE ALIEN.
Bec draws a single eye and a smile on her green fingerprint. She adds an antenna and arms to her drawing and sets her marker aside.
Bec says, I'VE MADE A FRAME OUT OF SOME CARD AND PAINTED IT GOLD.
Bec flips over a mini gold cardboard frame.
Bec says, I'LL JUST STICK THIS ON TOP.
Bec spreads glue stick glue on the back of the frame and then presses the frame onto her alien drawing.
Bec says, I'LL POP IT ON OUR EASEL.
Bec places the frame on the popsicle stick easel.
Bec says, I'VE ALSO MADE A TINY PAINTBRUSH AND A CARD PAINT PALETTE. AND THERE IS YOUR MINIATURE ART GALLERY.
Bec places a mini paintbrush and paint palette beside the easel.
[Paint splattering]
At the front counter, Bec looks up from her family tree book.
Bec says, NO WAY! I'M RELATED TO QUEEN ELIZABETH THE FIRST…FIRST’S JESTER.
In a video in the book, Bec’s jester relative wears a blue, red and green jester outfit.
The jester says, WHAT HAPPENS IF YOUR CLOWN EATS TOO MANY SWEETS? THEY GET INDE-JEST-TION. HUH? GET IT?
[Crowd booing]
The jester says, I'M A JESTER!
[Crowd booing]
Tomatoes hit the jester.
[Jester yelping]
Bec says, I GUESS THEY DIDN'T APPRECIATE GREAT JOKE IN ELIZABETHAN TIMES.
In Makeaway Takeaway, a bell icon appears on the order screen.
[Ringing notification]
Bec says, A CUSTOMER!
Bec puts down her book. On the order screen, a boy with short brown hair wears a short-sleeved blue polo shirt.
The brown-haired boy says, IT'S A MAKE OF THE DAY!
Bec grins.
[Upbeat music plays]
The brown-haired boy says, I'M CAYDEN AND I LIVE IN [unclear].
Bec says, HI, CAYDEN.
[Cayden speaking indistinctly]
Cayden says, WHAT CAN YOU MAKE OF THESE THREE INGREDIENTS, BEC?
The Make of the Day conveyor belt beside the front counter starts moving.
Cayden says, SOUP POT. PAPER STRAWS. AND A CARDBOARD TUBE.
The conveyor belt delivers a recycled soup container, paper straws and a long cardboard tube on plastic plates.
Bec asks, WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME, CAYDEN?
Cayden says, I LIKE TO PLAY GAMES.
Bec says, AH. THAT GIVES ME AN IDEA! ONE MAKE OF THE DAY COMING RIGHT UP!
Bec walks over to the front counter with the Make of the Day ingredients and crafting supplies, including cups of paint, paintbrushes, a glue stick, scissors, a black marker and a bowl of candy.
Bec says, I'M GOING TO MAKE A CACTUS PLANT PLONK GAME USING CAYDEN'S INGREDIENTS.
[Paint splattering]
[Fanfare plays]
[Cheering and applause]
A cactus-themed game features paper straws sticking out of a paper tube painted to resemble a cactus, placed on top of a recycled container. Candy spills out of a door at the bottom.
[Paint splattering]
Behind the front counter, Bec says, I'M STARTING WITH CAYDEN'S FIRST INGREDIENT, THE RECYCLED SOUP POT. I'M DRAWING A DOOR ON THE BOTTOM OF THE POT. UP AND AROUND.
Bec lays the recycled soup container on its side and sketches a door at the bottom with her marker.
Bec says, AND USING CAYDEN'S SECOND INGREDIENT, THE CARDBOARD TUBE, TRACE IT AROUND THE TUBE IN THE CENTRE OF THE LID.
Bec places the cardboard tube in the middle of the plastic soup container lid and traces it with the marker.
Bec says, I NEED TO CUT THIS CIRCLE OUT, SO I'M USING SOME MODELING CLAY TO BE SAFE. POPPING THAT UNDER. AND THEN JUST PUSHING THROUGH THE LID WITH SOME SCISSORS.
Bec presses the lid onto a piece of modelling clay on the counter. She pushes the tip of the pair of scissors through the circle in the lid and into the clay.
Bec says, I'M GOING TO CUT THIS OUT AND THEN I'LL CUT OUT THE DOOR. THIS BIT CAN BE A BIT TRICKY, SO YOU MIGHT WANT AN ADULT TO HELP.
Bec cuts the circle out of the lid.
[Whooshing]
[Scissors snipping]
Later at the counter, Bec says, I'VE CUT THE SHAPES OUT OF THE LID AND THE SOUP POT. NOW, I'M GOING TO POKE SOME HOLES THROUGH THE CARDBOARD TUBE. TO BE SAFE, I'M USING SOME MODELING CLAY AGAIN. A BIGGER BIT THIS TIME. AND THEN POKING A PENCIL THROUGH BOTH SIDES OF THE TUBE.
Bec places one end of the cardboard tube over a larger piece of modelling clay. Roughly one inch down the tube, Bec pushes the tip of a pencil through both sides of the cardboard and into the clay.
Bec says, THERE WE ARE. TURN IT A BIT AND DO IT AGAIN.
Bec pulls the pencil out of the tube. She rotates the tube. Further down the tube, she pokes more holes.
Bec says, KEEP GOING UNTIL YOU'VE GOT HOLE ALL THE WAY DOWN THE TUBE. WATCH YOUR FINGERS. DON'T WORRY IF IT GETS A BIT SQUASHED. WE CAN RESHAPE IT. THIS IS GOING TO BE A CACTUS PLANT PLONK, SO THE HOLES ARE THE PERFECT PLACE TO PUT THE SPIKES.
Bec pokes holes all the way down and around the tube.
[Gentle, cheerful music plays]
Bec says, THINK THAT'S ENOUGH HOLES? NOW, IT'S TIME TO PAINT. I'M GOING TO MAKE THIS A LOVELY CACTUS GREEN AND THEN I'LL PAINT THE SOUP POT.
Bec paints the cardboard tube light green.
[Paint splattering]
Later at the counter, the soup container has orange and blue stripes, and the lid is black.
Bec says, I'VE PAINTED MY SOUP POT STRIPEY. I'VE ADDED SOME LINES TO MY CACTUS AND NOW I'M JUST FINISHING SOME EXTRA DETAILS AROUND THE HOLES.
Bec draws dark green circles around the holes in the cardboard tube and stands it up on the counter.
Bec says, THERE WE GO. AND AS YOU CAN SEE, I'VE PAINTED THE LID, AND THIS IS GOING TO BE THE SOIL FOR OUR CACTUS. I'LL PUSH THE TUBE THROUGH THE HOLE IN THE LID. THAT THROUGH LIKE THAT. AND SECURE IT WITH SOME TAPE.
Bec slides the cardboard tube cactus through the hole in the plastic lid and tapes the end of the tube to the lid with masking tape.
Bec says, I'M USING MASKING TAPE, BUT YOU COULD USE ANY TAPE. NOW THAT'S NICE AND SECURE, I CAN USE THE THIRD INGREDIENT, THE PAPER STRAWS.
[Gentle, upbeat music plays]
Bec says, I'M GOING TO TAKE THEM AND POKE THEM THROUGH THE HOLES THAT WE MADE EARLIER, SO THEY COME OUT THE OTHER SIDE. THESE ARE THE SPIKES FOR OUR CACTUS. YOU DON'T NEED TO USE PAPER STRAWS. YOU COULD USE PENCILS OR EVEN LOLLY STICKS.
Bec slides the green paper straws through the holes in the cactus cardboard tube.
Bec says, NOW, I CAN PUT THIS ON TOP OF THE POT AND TO GIVE THE POT A RIM, I'VE GOT A STRIP OF BLUE CARD AND I'VE PUT SOME DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE ON. I'LL JUST WRAP THAT AROUND.
Bec presses the black lid onto the soup container and tapes a strip of blue card paper around it.
Bec says, I'VE ALSO MADE SOME LITTLE FLOWERS OUT OF COLOURED PAPER, WHICH I'LL STICK TO THE CACTUS WITH DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE.
Bec sticks small pink flowers onto the cactus cardboard tube.
Bec says, AND FINALLY, TO ADD SOME SWEETS! THIS IS MY FAVOURITE PART.
Bec drops a handful of candies from the bowl down the cardboard tube.
[Candies rattling]
Bec says, TO PLAY THE GAME, TAKE TURNS PULLING OUT A STRAW EACH.
[Suspenseful music plays]
Bec says, AND ANY SWEETS THAT FALL OUT THE BOTTOM, YOU GET TO KEEP.
Bec pulls straws out of the cactus, and candies fall out of the door at the bottom.
[Happy music plays]
Bec says, YES! AND THERE IS YOUR CACTUS PLANT PLONK GAME.
Bec eats a candy off the counter.
Bec says, MMM! WHILE I PACKAGE THIS UP FOR CAYDEN, HERE'S SOME OTHER IDEAS.
Bec grabs the game and ducks behind the counter.
[Scissors snipping]
A picture of a hedgehog plonk game is shown.
Bec says, HOW ABOUT THIS PRICKLY HEDGEHOG?
Another picture features a paintbrush and coloured pencil plonk game.
Bec asks, OR THIS ARTISTIC PENCIL HOLDER?
In the takeaway, Bec slides a Makeaway Takeaway takeout bag into the delivery hatch.
Bec says, IT'S THIS CACTI'S TIME TO FLY. ONE MAKE OF THE DAY ON ITS WAY!
Bec presses a button beside the hatch, and the platform inside rises.
[Paint splattering]
At Cayden’s house, Cayden opens the takeout bag.
Cayden says, WOW!
Cayden takes the cactus plant plonk game out of the bag and sets it on a small table. He pulls a paper straw spike out of the cactus tube, and candies fall out of the plastic container door.
[Candies rattling]
Cayden says, I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH. THANKS FOR MAKING IT FOR ME.
At the takeaway, Bec says, ANOTHER HAPPY CUSTOMER!
Bec walks away from the takeout hatch.
[Whooshing]
Title: Makeaway Takeaway.
[Whooshing]
At the takeaway, Bec sits at the lunch table with her family tree book.
[Bec sighing happily]
Bec closes the book and says, THERE WERE SO MANY TALENTED PEOPLE IN MY FAMILY. I WONDER WHAT PEOPLE IN THE FUTURE WILL THINK OF ME?
Bec rests her hand on her chin, and her gaze grows distant.
[Magical music plays]
In her imagination, a robot-like woman dressed in silver stands beside a pedestal with Bec’s Mega Mini Make alien fingerprint artwork displayed.
The robot-like woman says, AND HERE WE HAVE ONE OF BEC'S OTHER MASTERPIECES, 'THE FINGERPRINT.'
[Camera shutter clicking]
[Dog barking in the distance]
The robot-like woman says, PLEASE LEAVE ALL YOUR ROBOT DOGS OUTSIDE THE ART GALLERY.
[Magical music plays]
In the present, Bec says, WOW! I'D BETTER KEEP UP THE HARD WORK SO I CAN MAKE MY ANCESTORS PROUD.
[Phone ringing]
Bec says, THE BANANA PHONE!
Bec runs and grabs the banana phone off the Mega Mini Make table. She answers a call.
[Beeping]
Bec says, HELLO, MAKEAWAY TAKEAWAY!
On the other end of the call, in a forest, a girl with long, tightly braided dark hair wears sunglasses, a yellow short-sleeved ruffled shirt, and white pants.
The dark-haired girl says, HI, BEC. IT'S NOREN. CAN YOU DELIVER AN ARTY SURPRISE FOR KELLY, WHO PLAYS MARGARET OF ANJOU AT WARWICK CASTLE, PLEASE?
Bec says, AH! SOUNDS LIKE THE PERFECT CHALLENGE! I'LL BE JOUST A MINUTE.
Bec ends the call and puts the banana phone on the table.
Bec says, TIME TO SPLIT!
Bec leaves.
[Whooshing]
Title: Makeaway Takeaway.
[Whooshing]
In her Makeaway Takeaway visor and craft toolbelt, Bec stands outside a castle. She eagerly runs through an open gate. Elsewhere on the property, Noren watches a jousting tournament with a brown-haired boy wearing a grey T-shirt. In the tournament, two people dressed like knights ride horses.
[Gentle, exciting music plays]
A woman with long, dark brown hair wearing a blue zippered vest over a white collared shirt watches the competition. Elsewhere on the property, Noren and the brown-haired boy stand with their heads and arms in medieval stocks. Bec runs around the property.
[Paint splattering]
Beside the jousting arena, Bec sits on a bench with Noren and the brown-haired boy.
Bec says, HI, JOSEPH. HI, NOREN.
Joseph and Noren say, HI!
Bec says, SO, YOU'D LIKE ME TO DELIVER AN ARTY SURPRISE FOR KELLY WHO PLAYS MARGARET OF ANJOU HERE. IS THAT RIGHT?
Joseph and Noren say, YEAH.
In the jousting arena, Kelly, the brown-haired woman, as Margaret of Anjou, rides a horse and carries a jousting lance.
Bec asks, ANY WHY'S THAT?
Joseph says, BECAUSE SHE REALLY HELPS US BRING HISTORY TO LIFE.
Bec says, OH, WOW!
Noren says, AND SHE ALSO IS SUCH A GOOD JOUSTER AND HELPS US LEARN NEW FACTS ABOUT THE CASTLE.
During a tournament, Kelly, as Margaret of Anjou, blocks a jouster’s lance with her shield.
Bec says, THAT'S AMAZING. IF YOU COULD DO ANY MEDIEVAL ACTIVITY, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Joseph says, I'D SAY MAYBE ARCHERY.
Bec says, ARCHERY! THAT'S A GOOD ONE. IN FACT, YOU'VE INSPIRED ME. I'VE GOT AN IDEA THAT'S BURSTING TO GET OUT. COME ON!
Bec, Noren and Joseph leave the bench.
[Upbeat music plays]
Outside the castle, Bec runs over to a large canvas laid out on the grass and holds up a thick black marker. Poles in pots stand at each corner of the canvas with pennant flag banners. Bec kneels beside the canvas and starts drawing. Noren and Joseph pin the pennant banners to the grass. They collect flowers from a flower patch, red and blue flower petals from a tent, and sawdust from the jousting arena.
[Upbeat music continues]
Bec draws a jouster and kisses her fingers. Joseph pushes sawdust down a water bottle funnel into a balloon. Bec gives two thumbs-up. Noren blows up a blue balloon with a manual pump. Bec, Noren and Joseph kneel on Bec’s drawing.
Bec says, LET'S GET SOME P.V.A. GLUE ON HERE!
Bec, Noren and Joseph paint glue onto different parts of the drawing. They hang balloons over the canvas with a string. Bec nods, and they tie the strings to pegs in the ground.
[Triumphant trumpet music plays]
The black-haired, bearded archer readies his bow and arrow. Bec stands beside a tree.
Bec says, WE'VE GOT AN ARCHER! FIRE!
Bec plugs her ears and leans back. The archer readies his bow and pulls back his arrow. He releases the arrow and pops a red balloon. Red flower petals burst out and rain down on the canvas. Another arrow pops a white balloon, and sawdust rains down. Bec grins. An arrow hits a light blue balloon, and light blue dust falls on the canvas.
Bec yells, AH!
[Bright music plays]
The archer fires another arrow, and a red balloon full of red dust bursts open. A blue balloon full of grey dust pops. The archer hits a white balloon, and sawdust bursts out. A blue balloon pops, and blue feathers fall.
[Bec gasping]
Grey dust explodes across the canvas. Red flower petals and feathers fall from balloons. Bec, Noren and Joseph blow excess dust, flower petals and feathers off the canvas with leaf blowers.
[Leaf blowers whirring]
Bec narrates, LEAF BLOWERS AT THE READY. TIME TO REVEAL THE PICTURE.
Bec, Noren and Joseph turn off their leaf blowers.
Bec says, ALL RIGHT, I THINK THAT LOOKS PRETTY GOOD. WHAT DO YOU RECKON?
Noren and Joseph say, YEAH!
Bec asks, SHOULD WE GET KELLY?
Noren and Joseph say, YEAH!
Bec says, ALL RIGHT, GO!
Noren and Joseph leave.
[Paint splattering]
Noren and Joseph return with Kelly, whose eyes are closed.
Noren says, WE MADE A SURPRISE FOR YOU.
Joseph says, TAKE A LOOK!
Kelly opens her eyes, and her jaw drops open.
[Exciting music plays]
Kelly says, OH, MY GOODNESS!
[Fanfare plays]
Artwork of Kelly in armour, as Margaret of Anjou, facing a knight in armour, is coloured with coloured dust, flower petals, feathers and sawdust. Blue feathers and petals colour the knight’s cape. Red feathers and petals colour Kelly’s cape, and a flower on her shield. Sawdust colours the knight’s armour. Grey and red dust colours Kelly’s armour. Blue and grey dust colours the knight’s shield.
[Cheering and applause]
Kelly says, GUYS! THIS IS INCREDIBLE! AND LOOK! IS THAT ME? IS THAT MARGARET OF ANJOU?
Noren and Joseph say, YEP!
Kelly says, OH, WOW!
Noren says, THANKS FOR MAKING LESSONS AT WARWICK CASTLE SO FUN BY TEACHING US JOUSTING.
Kelly says, OH, YOU ARE SO WELCOME! I AM SO GLAD YOU'VE HAD A GOOD TIME.
Bec says, THAT'S BEEN ANOTHER BRILLIANT DAY OF DELIVERING ART TO YOUR DOOR. SEE YOU NEXT TIME ON…
Everyone throws their hands up and cheers, …MAKEAWAY TAKEAWAY!
