[Doorbell ringing, energetic music plays, whistling, doorbell ringing]
In an animation, a takeout restaurant has a countertop with jars of paint and a box of paintbrushes. Jars and cups filled with art supplies sit on two coolers beside a drink machine. A menu features pictures of food, brushes, paint, scissors, and condiment bottles. Live-action video clips show Bec Hill, in her thirties, wearing a hat made of construction paper, grass, colourful bees and ladybugs. She has curly pink hair. She dances wearing a jester costume. In the animation, straws, paint bottles, sunglasses, and drinks move on a conveyor belt. In a live-action video clip, children dance and paint. Bec blows bubbles through a zebra-shaped bubble blower.
Title: “Makeaway Takeaway.”
[Gulping, lively music plays]
Bec drinks from a cup.
Bec says, OH! HELLO! I'M BEC! WELCOME TO MAKEAWAY TAKEAWAY.
[Buzzer blaring]
Bec says, OH. THAT'S WEIRD. I WASN'T EXPECTING ANY DELIVERIES TODAY.
[Bell jangling]
Bec runs towards the front door and returns with a large, thick envelope.
Bec says, OH, THANK YOU. OOH! AW! IT'S FROM MY AUNTIE WINNIE! WHILE I OPEN THIS UP, CHECK OUT TODAY'S MENU.
[Whooshing, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, green paper unrolls.
Title: “Makeaway Takeaway.”
[Upbeat music plays, splashing]
Video clips feature Bec painting on paper and revealing a picture, Bec holding a large paper mâché hand, and two coaches watching children dribble basketballs.
Bec narrates, COMING UP ON TODAY'S SHOW, A TECHNIQUE THAT'S A REAL WAXWORK. I GET A CALL FROM A CUSTOMER WHO NEEDS A HAND TO ORGANIZE HER HOMEWORK. AND WE SURPRISED TWO BASKETBALL COACHES WITH SOME SLAM-DUNK ART.
[Whooshing, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, green paper unrolls.
Title: “Makeaway Takeaway.”
[Light music plays]
At the counter, Bec takes a piece of paper out of the envelope.
Bec says, IT CAME WITH A NOTE.
Bec reads, "DEAR BECKY BOO, I KNOW HOW MUCH YOU LIKE A NEW PAIR OF PANTS, SO HERE'S SOME I MADE ESPECIALLY FOR YOU. LOVE, AUNTIE WINNIE."
[Rustling]
Bec picks up large, white underwear decorated with paint splatters, a pencil, and a paintbrush.
Bec says, HMM. UM. THANKS. NOT REALLY MY STYLE THOUGH.
[Whooshing, splattering]
Bec throws the underwear and knocks over her cup.
Bec says, OOH! OH, NO! I KNOCKED OVER MY CUP OF TEA! BUT THIS GIVES ME AN IDEA FOR…
[Lively music plays]
Bec shouts, A TAKEAWAY TECHNIQUE!
[Whooshing, scissors snipping]
In an animation, scissors cut across a yellow screen. In live action, Bec sits at a table with paper, water, a white crayon, a paintbrush, and paint.
Bec says, I'M GOING TO SHOW YOU A WAX RESIST TECHNIQUE AND WE'RE GOING TO CREATE A JELLYFISH PICTURE. I'M STARTING WITH A PIECE OF WHITE PAPER AND A WHITE CRAYON. YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO SEE MUCH OF THIS AT FIRST, BUT ALL WILL BE REVEALED.
Bec draws on the white paper with the white crayon.
Bec says, I'M STARTING BY DRAWING A BIG JELLYFISH IN THE CORNER. PRESSING FIRMLY DOWN WITH A WAX CRAYON. IF YOU FIND IT DIFFICULT TO SEE WHAT YOU'RE DOING, YOU CAN ALWAYS DRAW THE PICTURE FIRST WITH A LIGHT PENCIL. DID YOU KNOW THAT A GROUP OF JELLYFISH IS CALLED A SWARM OR A BLOOM? I'M ADDING SOME TENTACLES. I'LL DO ANOTHER JELLYFISH IN THIS CORNER AND I'LL KEEP DRAWING MY UNDERWATER SCENE.
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays, paintbrush scraping, whooshing]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, Bec dips the paintbrush into the water. She dips the brush into diluted blue paint and paints over the wax crayon, revealing her jellyfish drawing.
Bec says, I'VE GOT A POT OF WATER AND A WIDE BRUSH. AND I'M JUST GONNA SPREAD IT OVER THE PAGE, MAKING IT NICE AND WET. BUT NOT TOO WET. WHILE THE PAPER IS STILL WET, I'M GONNA PAINT OVER IT WITH SOME DILUTED WATERCOLOUR PAINT. AND LIKE MAGIC, OUR UNDERWATER SCENE IS REVEALED.
[Salt rattling]
Bec sprinkles salt onto the picture, and dark blue specks appear where the salt lands.
Bec says, I'M GOING TO SHOW YOU A LOVELY TECHNIQUE NOW USING SOME SALT. I'M JUST GOING TO PINCH SOME AND POP IT OVER THE WET PAPER. THE SALT ABSORBS THE MOISTURE AND GIVES IT A REALLY GREAT SPECKLED EFFECT. THAT'S DONE. I'LL LEAVE IT TO DRY.
[Whooshing, salt rattling, chiming]
In an animation, lines swoop across a yellow background. In live action, the dry picture lies on the table. Bec tips the picture and shakes it. Blue salt falls off the picture. She puts the picture on the table.
Bec says, PICTURE'S DRY! LET'S SHAKE OFF THE SALT. AND LOOK AT THAT UNDERWATER EFFECT THAT THE SALT'S MADE. AND THERE IS A JELLYFISH PICTURE MADE USING A WAX-RESISTANT TECHNIQUE.
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, Bec carries a plate with doughnuts.
Bec says, MMM. JAM DOUGHNUT TIME! THE BEST TIME! TODAY REALLY IS A LUCKY DAY—
[Slide whistle, crashing, groaning, popping, upbeat music plays]
Bec slips on the underwear and falls. She pushes herself up, her shirt splattered with red jam. Bec pulls the underpants off her shoe.
Bec says, I THINK I LANDED ON MY-- DOUGHNUT. IT'S THESE BLOOMING BLOOMERS AUNTIE WINNIE SENT ME! I THINK THEY'RE GIVING ME BAD LUCK. SOMEHOW, I'M GONNA HAVE TO GET RID OF THESE PANTS.
[Ringing, whirring, whooshing]
An order slip prints beneath a screen on the wall. Title: “Makeaway Takeaway.”
Bec says, BUT FIRST, I'M GONNA HELP A CUSTOMER.
[Whooshing, popping]
Bec stands. On the screen, a girl with long, dark brown hair appears. She wears a yellow turtleneck sweater.
The long-haired girl says, HELLO, MAKEAWAY TAKEAWAY. BEC, I NEED YOUR HELP! I KEEP LOSING MY HOMEWORK. CAN YOU GIVE ME A HELPING HAND TO MAKE SURE I DON'T LOSE MY NEXT PROJECT FOR SCHOOL?
Bec says, I KNOW JUST THE THING. ONE ARTY DELIVERY COMING RIGHT UP. JUST AFTER I'VE CHANGED OUT OF THIS JAMMY TOP.
[Rustling, energetic music plays, whistling, footsteps pattering, whooshing, zooming]
Bec grabs the piece of paper and runs. She jumps into a comic panel, ties her shoelaces, and straightens her socks. Then, she snaps her suspenders, puts on a hat, and fastens a belt with dangling markers around her waist. Bec winks and gives a thumbs-up.
Bec says, LET'S DO THIS!
[Upbeat music plays]
Video footage shows the long-haired girl, Samvee, sitting on her bed.
Samvee says, HI! I'M SAMVEE AND I'M EIGHT YEARS OLD.
[Dog barking, chiming]
Samvee daydreams about a dog, a cat, a stethoscope, and paper. Hearts and stars appear around her head. She wears a lab coat and a stethoscope, and holds a dog stuffie.
Samvee narrates, I'M A BIT OF A DREAMER. THE BEST DREAM I EVER HAD WAS PASSING ALL OF MY EXAMS AND BECOMING A VET.
[Needle scratching a record, horror music plays, evil laughing]
Someone waves a gingerbread man at Samvee, and she waves her arms above her head.
Samvee narrates, THE WORST DREAM I EVER HAD WAS A GINGERBREAD MAN TRYING TO EAT ME!
[Chiming, upbeat music plays]
Samvee wears the lab coat and the stethoscope and holds the dog stuffed toy.
Samvee narrates, IF I'M GOING TO ACHIEVE MY DREAM OF BECOMING A VET, I CAN'T LOSE MY HOMEWORK!
Samvee eats a gingerbread man.
Samvee asks, CAN YOU HELP ME, BEC?
[Doorbell ringing]
Samvee says, OH, IS SOMEBODY AT THE DOOR?
[Whooshing, scissors snipping]
In an animation, scissors cut across a yellow screen. In live action, Bec and Samvee stand in an art studio. Behind Samvee, brightly coloured crayons taller than she is stand in a holder. Behind Bec, a large paper drink cup with a lid holds a cut-out of a paintbrush.
Bec says, HI, SAMVEE!
Samvee says, HI, BEC!
Bec says, I HAVE THE PERFECT MAKE FOR YOU. YOU WILL NEVER LOSE YOUR HOMEWORK AGAIN WITH THE HELPING HANDS FOLDER.
[Triumphant music flourish plays, cheering, applause]
The finished helping hands folder features a paper mâché hand wearing a wristwatch and a thumb ring.
Samvee says, THAT SOUNDS FUN!
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays, scissors snipping]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, Bec holds a large cardboard rectangle. She puts it on the table and draws a hand. Bec cuts the hand out.
Bec says, FIRST, YOU NEED TWO BIG BITS OF CARD LIKE THIS. NOW, LET'S START DRAWING A BIG HAND ON ONE OF THEM. YOU CAN USE YOUR OWN HAND AS A GUIDE AND JUST DRAW BIG. ONCE THAT'S DONE, I'M GONNA CUT IT OUT AND USE IT AS A TEMPLATE FOR MY OTHER PIECE OF CARD. NOW, I'VE GOT BOTH OF MY HANDS.
[Whooshing, scissors snipping, marker scratching, wrap rustling]
In an animation, scissors cut across a yellow screen. In live action, Bec puts a round container on the wrist of one cardboard hand and traces the bottom. Bec rolls bubble wrap and Samvee tapes a roll of bubble wrap together.
Bec says, I'M GOING TO TAKE A POT FROM MY RECYCLING AND DRAW AROUND IT ON THE WRIST. I'LL SHOW YOU WHY LATER. YOU'LL ONLY NEED TO DO THIS ON ONE OF THE HANDS. AND THERE YOU GO! TO MAKE THEM 3-D, WE'RE GONNA ROLL UP SOME SAUSAGES. WE'RE GONNA USE OLD BUBBLE WRAP, BUT YOU COULD USE NEWSPAPERS OR MAGAZINES FROM YOUR RECYCLING. WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE FOOD?
Samvee says, MMM. SAUSAGES.
[Bec laughing]
Bec says, NOT THESE ONES THOUGH!
Samvee says, NO.
[Whooshing]
Bec tapes a roll of bubble wrap over each finger on the hand.
Bec says, NO. I'M USING MASKING TAPE TO STICK DOWN MY SAUSAGE FINGERS.
[Paint splattering, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, paint drips. In live action, Bec holds a bubble wrap-covered hand. The hand has a circular gap around the circle Bec drew earlier.
Bec says, WE'VE FINISHED BUBBLE WRAPPING OUR HANDS AND I'VE LEFT A GAP WHERE I DREW MY CIRCLE EARLIER.
[Upbeat music plays]
Bec points at a bowl of glue. Strips of newspaper lie on plates in front of Bec and Samvee.
Bec says, NOW, WE GET TO PAPER MÂCHÉ. I'VE MADE A MIX OF TWO PARTS P.V.A. TO ONE PART WATER, AND I'VE TORN UP SOME OLD NEWSPAPERS. TIME TO GET MESSY! AW, YEAH! WHAT'S THE STICKIEST THING YOU'VE EVER TOUCHED THAT ISN'T GLUE?
Bec and Samvee each attach the newspaper to a giant hand using a paintbrush.
Samvee says, PROBABLY SLIME.
Bec says, AW! THE STICKIEST THING I'VE EVER TOUCHED THAT ISN'T GLUE…
[Needle scratching a record, whooshing]
Bec continues, IS A STICK.
[Whooshing]
In an animation, lines swoop across a yellow background. In live action, Bec and Samvee paint the paper mâché hands.
Bec says, NOW, OUR HANDS ARE DRY. IT'S TIME TO PAINT! PAINT BOTH SIDES AND ONCE THEY'RE DRY, WE'RE GOING TO TURN THEM INTO A FOLDER. TO MAKE A HINGE, I'VE FOLDED UP SOME NEWSPAPER. AND NOW, I'M GONNA WRAP SOME MASKING TAPE AROUND IT TO MAKE IT NICE AND STRONG.
Bec wraps masking tape around the folded newspaper.
Bec narrates, YOU NEED TO COVER ALL OF THE PAPER IN MASKING TAPE. AND NOW, THIS IS SUPER STRONG. WATCH.
[Bec grunting]
Bec pulls on the wrapped masking tape. Samvee watches and smiles. Bec takes a painted hinge and tapes it to the two side-by-side hands, connecting them just below the pinkies. She opens and closes the hands.
Bec says, HERE'S A HINGE I'VE ALREADY PAINTED. I'M GONNA STICK IT DOWN WITH SOME DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE. AND NOW, LET'S ADD SOME NAILS.
[Upbeat music plays]
Bec flips over cardboard fingernails with white tips.
Bec says, I'LL CUT OUT SOME CARDBOARD AND I'VE GIVEN OUR NAILS SOME DETAIL. I'VE USED PAINT, BUT YOU COULD USE FELT-TIPPED PENS. SAMVEE, COULD YOU STICK YOUR NAILS ON FOR ME?
Samvee says, SURE.
Samvee tapes the fingernails to the hand.
Bec says, WE'RE GONNA USE DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE, BUT YOU COULD USE P.V.A. OR STRONG GLUE.
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, Bec points to the circular hole in the paper mâché on one hand. Bec holds up the painted yellow pot and tapes a pink clock face to the top.
Bec asks, REMEMBER THIS HOLE? THIS IS WHERE OUR WATCH IS GOING TO GO. I'VE PAINTED THE POT THAT WE DREW AROUND EARLIER, AND NOW I'M GOING TO STICK A CLOCK FACE TO IT. THE CLOCK FACE IS MADE OUT OF PAPER. I'VE USED SOME DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE FOR THIS TOO. NOW, LET'S STICK THAT IN THERE.
[Rustling]
Bec pushes the pot into the round opening. She places yellow foam on each side of the watch face and glues it down at the ends by the clock. Bec attaches hook-and-loop tabs to the other end of each strap.
Bec says, FOR THE WATCH STRAP, I'LL CUT OUT A PIECE OF SPONGE WITH SOME HOLES FOR THE WATCH. THIS WILL BE STUCK DOWN WITH SOME STRONG GLUE. NOW, I'M GOING TO STICK DOWN THE OTHER SIDE OF MY WATCH STRAP USING SOME HOOK AND LOOP TAPE. YOU CAN BUY THIS FROM THE SUPERMARKET. THIS IS GOING TO HELP KEEP OUR PAPERS IN THE FOLDER. WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Bec closes the hands and puts the hook and loop together. She holds the hands up and shows Samvee.
Samvee says, MMM. I THINK IT NEEDS ONE MORE THING. HOW ABOUT A SPARKLY RING?
[Bec gasping]
Bec says, I WAS HOPING YOU'D ASK ME THAT! VOILA!
[Slide whistle]
Bec takes a green construction paper ring with a blue rhinestone out of her pocket and slides it onto the index finger of one of the hands.
Bec says, AND NOW, WE GET TO USE OUR WATCH! LOOK AT THIS. YOU CAN PUT YOUR BITS AND BOBS IN THERE!
[Rattling, lid clicking]
Bec lifts the clock face lid, and Samvee drops a handful of clips, paper clips, and elastic bands inside the pot. Bec puts the lid back on the pot.
Bec says, SECURE THAT ON. AND THERE YOU HAVE IT. YOUR VERY OWN HELPING HANDS FOLDER.
Bec puts the paper on one hand and closes the folder, fastening the hook-and-loop straps.
Samvee says, WOW! THAT'S GREAT, BEC! THANKS.
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, Samvee sits on her bed and puts paper on one of the folder hands. She closes the folder.
Samvee says, THANKS SO MUCH, BEC! THIS IS A DREAM COME TRUE! NOW, I'LL NEVER LOSE MY HOMEWORK.
[Drum rimshot plays]
In Makeaway Takeaway, Bec says, AND YOU'LL NEVER FORGET TO HAND IT IN. I'M GLAD I COULD HELP, SAMVEE! ANOTHER HAPPY CUSTOMER.
[Dinging, clunking, light music plays]
Bec puts the order slip in the blue tray. She turns and bumps into the edge of the counter.
Bec says, OW! WHAT'S THAT DOING THERE? THESE BAD LUCK PANTS HAVE GOT TO GO, AND I KNOW EXACTLY WHERE.
[Slide whistle, water bubbling, plopping]
Bec ducks beneath the counter and stands wearing a snorkel and mask. She picks up the underwear with a pair of tongs.
Bec says, THE DEEPEST, DARKEST DEPTHS OF THE OCEAN. BUT FIRST, SOME PAPER PUPPETRY.
[Whooshing, zooming]
Title: “Makeaway Takeaway.”
[Ominous music plays, water splashing, Bec screaming, party horn blaring]
Bec stands beside a drawing of a shark fin in water. Four tabs protrude from the side of the paper. Bec pulls down part of a top sheet and reveals a party hat. She wipes her brow.
Bec says, PHEW!
[Whooshing, chiming, light music plays]
Bec moves the paper and reveals a smiling shark wearing the party hat. The shark holds a piece of cake on a plate.
Bec smiles and says, OOH!
[Whooshing, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, yellow paper unrolls.
[Bec speaking indistinctly]
Bec returns, still wearing the snorkel and mask. She pulls the snorkel out of her mouth.
Bec says, SORRY. I WAS SAYING I FINALLY GOT RID OF THOSE UNLUCKY UNDIES!
[Seagull screeching]
A seagull flies over Bec with the underpants in their mouth.
Bec shouts, AH!
[Squirting, whooshing]
White bird feces fall on Bec’s shoulder. She waves her hands.
Bec says, AH! YUCK! THAT PESKY SEAGULL MUST HAVE FOLLOWED ME BACK FROM THE BEACH.
[Bec grumbling, serious music plays, seagull calling]
Bec says, AND IT'S GOT THOSE UNLUCKY PANTS! SHOO! SHOO! GET OUGHTA HERE! TAKE THOSE PANTS WITH YOU! BUT IT HAS GIVEN ME AN IDEA FOR A MEGA MINI MAKE!
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays, paper rustling]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, Bec sits at a small table with paper, scissors, a glue stick, and markers. She points to a cut-out body shape and picks up wings.
Bec says, I'M GOING TO MAKE A SEAGULL PENCIL PUPPET. I START IT BY FOLDING A PIECE OF WHITE CARD IN HALF, AND THEN I DREW AND CUT OUT THESE SHAPES. THIS WILL BE MY SEAGULL'S TAIL AND BODY, AND THIS WILL BE THE WINGS. AND BECAUSE I DID IT ON A PIECE OF FOLDER CARD, THE WINGS ARE THE SAME ON EACH SIDE. THIS WILL BE MY SEAGULL'S HEAD. IT'S TIME TO COLOUR THEM IN!
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, the grey and white wings and tail lie on the table. The wings are grey on the top, white in the middle, and dark grey at the feathered tips. Bec puts glue in the centre of the wings and glues the wings, body and tail.
Bec says, I'VE COLOURED IN ALL OF THE PIECES AND NOW IT'S TIME TO ASSEMBLE. I'LL START BY PUTTING A LINE OF GLUE DOWN THE CENTRE OF THE WINGS AND THEN I'LL STICK THEM TO THE BODY. AND THEN SOME GLUE ON THE TAIL. THEN FOLD IT OVER. I'LL USE MY THUMB TO ROUND OUT THE BODY. AND I'LL FOLD IT DOWN AND STICK IT TOGETHER.
[Whooshing]
Bec folds a strip of white paper as the head and glues it to the body.
Bec says, TO MAKE THE HEAD, I'M GONNA TAKE THIS STRIP OF CARD, FOLD IT OVER INTO THE TEARDROP SHAPE AND THEN GLUE IT TO THE BODY. AND NOW, WE'VE GOT A SEAGULL'S BODY.
Bec puts the seagull down and picks up a rectangle of white paper. She wraps the paper around the eraser end of a pencil, with part of the paper over the edge of the eraser. She glues the paper in place and makes four cuts in the overhanging edge of the paper. Bec bends the overhanging paper outwards and glues it to the centre of the bottom of the seagull’s body.
Bec says, TO MAKE THE PUPPET PART, I'VE GOT A STRIP OF CARD WHICH I'M GOING TO WRAP AROUND THE END OF A PENCIL TIGHTLY. I'M LEAVING A BIT HANDING OFF THE END, AND GLUING DOWN THE SIDE. THEN CUT THE OVERHANG INTO SOME TABS. I'LL SPLAY OUT THE EDGES AND THEN GLUE IT TO THE SEAGULL'S BODY. THERE WE GO.
[Upbeat music plays]
Bec holds up the pencil with the seagull on top. Bec wraps a strip of paper around her fingertip. She glues the end and sets the ring up on the table. Bec glues a thin strip of paper to each side.
Bec says, TO MAKE THE WINGS FLAP, TAKE ANOTHER STRIP OF CARD, WRAP IT AROUND YOUR FINGER SO IT'S WIDER THAN THE PENCIL AND GLUE DOWN THE END. ADD TWO THIN STRIPS OF CARD ON EITHER SIDE. THIS LOOKS A BIT STRANGE, BUT YOU'LL SEE WHY WE'VE DONE IT IN A MOMENT AND POP IT OVER THE END OF THE PENCIL.
Bec lowers the finger ring down the pencil and glues a thin strip to each wing. She moves the ring up and down, and the wings flap. Bec draws eyes on the face and attaches a small diamond-shaped beak, folded in the middle.
Bec says, GLUE THE LOOSE ENDS OF THE STRIPS TO THE WINGS. THIS SEAGULL NEEDS A FACE. SO, I'LL GIVE IT SOME EYES AND A BEAK I'VE MADE BY CUTTING OUT A SMALL TRIANGLE FROM A PIECE OF ORANGE CARD.
[Upbeat music continues]
Bec glues a small square of paper with tiny paper French fries to the inside of the mouth.
Bec says, FINALLY, WE'LL GIVE OUR CHEEKY SEAGULL SOME CHIPS. HAVE YOU EVER HAD YOUR CHIPS PINCHED BY A SEAGULL? I HAVE. AND THERE IS YOUR SEAGULL PENCIL PUPPET.
[Seagull squawking]
Bec moves the paper ring and flaps the wings on the seagull.
[Slide whistle, splattering, phone ringing]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, Bec sits at a large table and answers the banana phone.
Bec says, HI, AUNTIE WINNIE.
[Auntie Winnie chattering indistinctly]
Bec says, YEAH, YEAH! I DID GET THEM.
[Auntie Winnie chattering indistinctly]
Bec says, YEAH, UM, A BIT OF A STRANGE STORY. YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE IT BUT, UM, A SEAGULL STOLE THEM!
[Auntie Winnie chattering indistinctly]
Bec says, I KNOW, OKAY.
[Auntie Winnie chattering indistinctly]
Bec says, LOVE YOU, TOO! BYE!
[Beeping, ringing, whirring]
Bec ends the call.
Bec says, A CUSTOMER! MY LUCK IS FINALLY CHANGING.
On a screen on the wall, a boy with short brown hair wears a bright yellow shirt.
The brown-haired boy says, IT'S THE MAKE OF THE DAY! MY NAME'S ZACH AND I'M FROM SCOTLAND.
Bec says, HI, ZACH!
The brown-haired boy, Zach, says, WHAT CAN YOU MAKE OUT OF THESE THREE INGREDIENTS?
[Whirring]
The ingredients move on the conveyor belt as he lists them.
Zach says, SOME MILK BOTTLE TOPS, EGG BOXES, AND A SHOE BOX.
Bec says, AH, GOOD INGREDIENTS, ZACH. HMM. TELL ME, WHO USES THE PHONE MOST IN YOUR HOUSE?
Zach says, I'LL SAY DEFINITELY MY OLDER BROTHER. HE'S ALWAYS EITHER TALKING TO HIS FRIENDS OR TALKING TO GIRLS. AND WHEN I ASK HIM TO PLAY OUTSIDE WITH ME, HE'S ALWAYS SAYING, "OH, I HAVE TO TALK TO MY FRIENDS." I WISH HE WASN'T ALWAYS ON HIS PHONE.
Bec says, SOUND LIKE YOU NEED TO LOCK AWAY HIS PHONE. WHICH GIVES ME AN IDEA.
[Bec gasping]
Bec says, ONE MAKE OF THE DAY COMING RIGHT UP! I'M GOING TO MAKE A MONSTER LOCK BOX USING ZACH'S INGREDIENTS.
[Slide whistle, splattering, triumphant musical flourish plays, cheering, applause]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, the finished spotted monster lock box appears. It has three eyes, green horns and feet, and drool dripping from the fanged mouth.
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays, scissors snipping]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, Bec stands at the table with Zach’s ingredients, paint, scissors, markers, and a paintbrush. Bec picks up two empty 6-egg boxes and cuts the lid off one of them. Bec cuts the egg holders out of the carton.
Bec says, I'M STARTING WITH ZACH'S FIRST INGREDIENT, THE EGG BOXES. I'M GOING TO CUT THEM INTO PIECES. CUT OFF THE LID AND THEN I'M CUTTING THE BOTTOM INTO HORNS AND FEET.
[Whooshing, scissors snipping, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, scissors cut across a yellow screen. In live action, Bec has the pieces of the egg carton on the table.
Bec says, I'VE GOT ALL MY MONSTER'S FEET AND HORNS AND TO MAKE THE MONSTER'S BODY, I'M GOING TO USE ZACH'S SECOND INGREDIENT, THE SHOE BOX.
Bec paints the horns and feet green and adds blue shading.
Bec says, TIME TO PAINT! I'M PAINTING THE HORNS AND FEET A NICE MONSTER GREEN. I'M GOING TO ADD SOME BLUE SHADING TO THE FEET AND HORNS. I'M GOING TO KEEP PAINTING THESE AND THEN I'LL PAINT THE BODY A LIGHTER SHADE OF GREEN.
[Whooshing, scraping, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, lines swoop across a yellow background. Later, in live action, the monster's feet, horns, and body are fully painted. Bec pushes the feet and horns to the side.
Bec says, MY MONSTER'S FEET, HORNS AND BODY ARE ALL DRY. NOW, TO GIVE THE MONSTER SOME SCALES. I'M GOING TO USE A BUBBLE WRAP PAINTING TECHNIQUE.
[Upbeat music plays]
Bec paints the bubble wrap red and then presses the painted side against the top of the box.
Bec says, I THINK I'LL MAKE THEM RED. I'LL USE A LOT OF PAINT ON THIS. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE NEAT, YOU JUST HAVE TO COVER THE WHOLE SHEET BEFORE IT DRIES. NOW, WE'RE GOING TO PRINT THE SCALE ONTO THE BODY. PRESSING IT DOWN. NOT TOO FIRMLY. LET'S SEE HOW THESE SCALES ARE LOOKING. FANTASTIC. I'LL JUST ADD A BIT MORE PAINT TO THIS AND DO THE REST OF THE BODY.
Bec puts the bubble wrap on the table, paint side up.
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, Bec removes the bubble wrap from one side of the shoe box, leaving the entire box covered with red scales. She moves the box to the side of the table.
Bec says, ALL RIGHT, THAT'S ALL PAINTED. I'LL PUT IT ASIDE TO DRY. NEXT, I'LL MAKE THE MONSTER'S EYES AND LOCKING MECHANISM USING ZACH'S THIRD INGREDIENT, THE MILK BOTTLE LIDS. YOU'LL NEED SIX OF THESE. I'M GOING TO START BY POKING HOLES THROUGH THE CENTRE OF ALL THE LIDS. I'M USING A BIT OF MODELING CLAY TO BE SAFE AND A PENCIL.
[Clicking]
Bec puts a lid on top of the modelling clay and pokes a pencil through the centre.
Bec says, TRY IT IN THE MIDDLE. PUSH IT THROUGH. YOU MIGHT NEED AN ADULT TO HELP. WATCH YOUR FINGERS.
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, paint splatters.
Bec says, ALL RIGHT, THAT'S ALL SIX WITH HOLES IN.
[Scissors snipping, straw tapping]
Bec picks up a bottle top and cuts a notch off the side. She cuts a striped straw into three pieces.
Bec says, CUT NOTCHES INTO THREE OF THE MILK BOTTLE TOPS ABOUT A CENTIMETRE WIDE. NEXT, CUT A PAPER STRAW INTO THREE EQUAL SECTIONS.
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, Bec opens the top of the shoe box. On the front panel, she holds a lid near the edge of the cardboard and draws a dot with the pencil through the hole in the lid. She does that in three locations near the edge.
Bec says, THESE ARE GOING TO BE THE MONSTER'S EYES. YOU CAN PUT THEM ANYWHERE YOU LIKE AS LONG AS THE LIDS LINE UP WITH THE TOP OF THE BOX. I'M JUST TAKING THE PENCIL FROM BEFORE. I'LL PUT A LITTLE MARK HERE SO I KNOW WHERE TO POKE THE HOLES. I THINK I'LL PUT ANOTHER EYE ON THIS SIDE AND ANOTHER EYE ON THIS SIDE.
[Pencil squeaking, lids creaking]
Bec holds modelling clay against the inside of the box and pushes the pencil tip through where she left the dots. She turns the pencil. She pushes a piece of the straw through the hole in the middle of a bottle lid and pushes the straw through the hole in the box, holding the lid in place. On the side of the straw inside the box, Bec pushes a lid with a notch onto the straw. She pushes the lids closer together and turns the straw.
Bec says, TO MAKE THE HOLES, I'M USING SOME MODELLING CLAY TO BE SAFE AND POKING THE PENCILS THROUGH. JUST PUT A LITTLE BIT OF FORCE. PENCIL'S THROUGH. AND AGAIN, I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THE WHOLE PENCIL FITS IN. THERE WE ARE. I'M TAKING ONE OF THE LIDS WITHOUT A NOTCH AND POKING ONE OF THE STRAW SEGMENTS THROUGH. AND THEN, FEED IT THROUGH THE HOLE IN THE BOX. THEN I'M TAKING ONE OF THE LIDS WITH A NOTCH CUT OUT OF IT AND THREADING THE STRAW THROUGH THE OTHER SIDE. YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT IT'S NOT TOO TIGHT BECAUSE I NEED THESE TO TURN. YOU'LL SEE WHY LATER.
Bec squeezes glue onto the straw and lid, inside the lid, away from where it touches the box.
Bec says, NEXT, I NEED TO ATTACH THESE WITH SOME STRONG GLUE. MAKING SURE THAT I'M GLUING THE LID TO THE STRAW AND NOT TO THE BOX, BECAUSE I WANT THESE TO MOVE. I'LL GLUE THE OTHER SIDE AND THEN STICK ON THE OTHER EYES.
[Paint splattering, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, paint drips. In live action, Bec points to the three eyes on the box and to four horns on the top of the lid. She attaches a foot with a white paper claw to the corner of the box.
Bec says, I'VE GLUED ON THE EYES AND ALL OF THE MONSTER'S HORNS AND FEET. I'VE GIVEN THE FEET CLAWS USING TRIANGLES OF WHITE CARD. NOW, TO COMPLETE THE LOCKING MECHANISM.
Bec holds a strip of cardboard with three pieces of a straw taped to it. She holds the straws near the straws inside the box, then tapes the strip of straws to the bottom of the box cover, lining up with straws poking through the bottle lids.
Bec says, I'VE CUT ANOTHER PAPER STRAW INTO THREE SECTIONS AND I'VE STUCK IT TO A PIECE OF CARD THE SAME LENGTH AS THE SHOE BOX. THESE ARE STUCK DOWN TO PERFECTLY MATCH WITH THE NOTCHES IN THE BOTTLE TOPS. I'M GOING TO ATTACH THIS TO THE INSIDE OF THE LID MAKING SURE THE STRAWS DON'T GO OVER THE EDGE. I'M USING DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE, BUT YOU COULD ALSO USE STRONG GLUE. LET'S TRY IT OUT.
Bec closes the lid.
Bec says, PERFECT. THE STRAWS MATCH UP PERFECTLY WITH THE NOTCHES.
Bec picks up a circle with numbers and small lines around the sides.
Bec says, I'VE CUT OUT SOME CIRCLES OF WHITE CARD. I'VE ADDED A PUPIL AND SOME NUMBERS. I NEED A COMBINATION FOR THIS LOCK BOX. I'M GOING TO USE TWO, THREE, FOUR. SHH! DON'T TELL ANYONE.
Bec puts the first circle on the first lid, with the two at the top. She puts the three upwards on the next lid and the four at the top on the last.
Bec says, I WANT THE TWO FACING UPWARDS WHERE THE NOTCH IS. I'M USING DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE TO STICK THIS. YOU COULD ALSO USE GLUE, AND FOR THE NEXT EYE, THERE'S GOING TO BE A THREE AND A FOUR. THERE WE GO!
Bec attaches the drooling mouth beneath the eyes.
Bec says, FINALLY, THE MONSTER NEEDS A BIG OLD GRIN. I DREW THIS ONE EARLIER. ALL RIGHT, LET'S TEST THE LOCKING MECHANISM.
[Upbeat music continues, lid thumping]
Bec opens the box. She turns the lids to different numbers, pulls on the top, and the box does not open. Bec turns the eyes to two, three, and four and opens the box. She closes it.
Bec says, SO NOW IT'S OPEN. NOW, IT'S LOCKED. GOOD THING I REMEMBER MY COMBINATION. TWO. THREE. FOUR. THERE WE GO. AND THERE IS YOUR MONSTER LOCK BOX. WHILE I BAG THIS UP FOR ZACH, HERE'S SOME OTHER IDEAS.
[Whooshing, scissors snipping, whooshing, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, scissors cut across a yellow screen. In live action, a red boom box, lock box with a handle, round speakers, and a long antenna appears. A silver and grey submarine lock box has portholes on the side and a propeller at one end.
Bec asks, WHY NOT POP SOME LOCKS ON A BOOMBOX? OR KEEP YOUR STUFF STORED IN A SUBMARINE SAFE. ONE MAKE OF THE DAY ON ITS WAY!
[Rustling, beeping]
Bec puts a blue bag in a slot in the wall and pushes a button.
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action at his house, Zah holds the monster box.

[Hands slapping, happy sighing, cheerful music plays]
In Makeaway Takeaway, Bec rubs her hands together and walks to the counter.
Bec says, EXCELLENT! EVER SINCE I GOT RID OF THOSE PESKY PANTS, I'VE HAD LOADS OF CUSTOMERS!
[Buzzer blaring, bell jangling]
Bec walks to the front door and returns with a thick envelope.
Bec says, AND ANOTHER DELIVERY. OH! THANK YOU. IT'S ANOTHER PACKAGE FROM AUNTIE WINNIE!
[Rustling]
Bec takes out a note.
Bec reads, "DEAR BECKY BOO, I'M SO SORRY THAT AWFUL SEAGULL STOLE THOSE LOVELY PANTS I SENT YOU. YOU MUST BE SO UPSET, SO I'VE MADE YOU THESE. I HOPE YOU LIKE THEM AS MUCH WAS THE FIRST PAIR. LOVE, AUNTIE WINNIE."
[Rustling, slide whistle]
Bec takes pink underwear with pink and purple hearts out of the bag. Red bows line the top, and colourful rhinestones dangle from the bottom.
Bec says, OH. YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE.
[Phone ringing]
Bec says, PHEW. SAVED BY THE BANANA PHONE!
[Whooshing, beeping]
Bec throws the underwear and picks up the banana phone.
Bec says, HELLO, MAKEAWAY TAKEAWAY.
On a split screen, Shiloh holds a smartphone. He has short, curly black hair and wears an orange basketball jersey.
Shiloh says, HI, BEC. IT'S SHILOH HERE. CAN YOU DELIVER AN ARTY SURPRISE FOR OUR BASKETBALL COACHES AT THE LEICESTER RIDERS FOUNDATION?
Bec says, AH! SOUNDS LIKE FUN!
[Beeping]
Bec ends the call.
Bec says, LET'S BOUNCE!
[Slide whistle, whooshing, zooming]
Title: “Makeaway Takeaway.”
[Upbeat music plays, balls thumping]
On an indoor basketball court, a boy with short brown hair dribbles a ball, and Shiloh guards him. A tall coach with black hair and a black beard walks on the side of the court.
The black-haired coach says, KEEP YOUR HEAD UP! KEEP YOUR HEAD UP! USE YOUR BODY TO PROTECT IT.
[Balls thumping]
A student bounces the ball through their legs while dribbling. A second coach with short brown hair and a beard stands beside the black-haired coach. Bec enters the arena and waves to a receptionist in the lobby.
By the court, the black-haired coach says, GO!
[Balls thumping]
Students shoot the ball towards the hoop, and one ball falls into the hoop. Bec sits in the stands with a takeaway cup in hand.
The brown-haired coach says, HOLD YOUR FOLLOW-THROUGH, HOLD THAT FOLLOW-THROUGH.
The coaches say, KEEP GOING, KEEP GOING. GO! THAT WAY! THAT WAY!
[Hoop banging]
A basketball falls into the hoop. In the stands, Bec gestures for Shiloh and three other students to join her.
Bec says, HEY! COME SIT DOWN.
[Seats squeaking, students panting]
Bec points to each student as she names them.
Bec says, HI, SHILOH, EVA, ELENA, REESHA, HOW ARE YOU GOING?
Shiloh smiles. Eva wears a white headband over her long brown hair. Elena has long, wavy, dark brown hair, and Reesha has short, curly dark brown hair that is shaved on the sides. He holds a basketball.
Eva says, GOOD.
Shiloh says, DOING GOOD.
Bec says, THAT LOOKED LIKE FUN.
The children agree, YEAH.
Bec says, SO, YOU WANT ME TO DELIVER AN ARTY SURPRISE FOR YOUR BASKETBALL COACHES, DAMON AND GREG?
The children say, YES, PLEASE.
Bec asks, AND WHY DO YOU LIKE BASKETBALL SO MUCH?
Elena says, I LIKE PLAYING ON COURT WITH MY TEAM AND CREATING NEW FRIENDS.
Bec says, AW, THAT'S NICE.
Shiloh says, I LIKE WINNING AND NOT LOSING.
Bec says, AW! THAT'S AWESOME! AND IN FACT, YOU'VE INSPIRED ME. I'M GOING TO MAKE A BASKETBALL-BASED ARTWORK USING THE TECHNIQUE OF POINTILLISM.
The children say, OH.
Bec says, YEAH! COME ON! LET'S GO!
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays, squirting, basketballs dribbling]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, Bec kneels on a large white board on top of a tarp, and the children stand beside it. Everyone holds a basketball. Bec squirts lines of red paint and waves for Reesha and Elena to walk over. They dribble their basketballs on the paint.
[Paint squirting, children laughing]
Bec peels off some of the tarp and squirts blue paint.
Bec says, COME IN! GO FOR IT!
[Basketballs dribbling, paint squirting, upbeat music continues]
Shiloh, Elena, Reesha, and Eva dribble their balls, spreading the paint. Bec peels off another part of the layer above the tarp and squirts shades of brown paint.
Bec asks, DO YOU SEE ALL OF THE LITTLE DOTS?
Eva and Shiloh reply, OH, YEAH.
[Basketballs dribbling, paint squirting]
Reesha dribbles a ball with each hand while Shiloh watches wide-eyed and open-mouthed. Bec squirts more blue paint. Bec and the children peel off small parts of the tarp. Reesha ties a piece around his forehead. Everyone stands and looks down at the tarp on the floor.
Shiloh says, OH, WOW! THAT LOOKS REALLY COOL!
Eva says, THAT WAS WAY BETTER THAN I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT.
Bec says, ALL RIGHT, SHOULD WE GET DAMON AND GREG?
The children say, YEAH!
Bec says, OFF YOU GO!
[Slide whistle, splattering, upbeat music plays]
In an animation, paint splatters. In live action, the coaches cover their eyes with their hands as the players and Bec gather around them.
Eva says, TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT WE'VE MADE YOU.
[Energetic music plays]
The art shows a basketball player in three poses as they leap and sink a basket. Their jersey has the number 33.
The brown-haired coach says, WOW! IT LOOKS AMAZING!
The black-haired coach says, THAT'S INCREDIBLE.
Shiloh says, THANK YOU, COACH DAMON AND GREG, FOR EVERYTHING YOU'VE TAUGHT US ABOUT BASKETBALL.
Reesha says, YOU MADE US REALLY LOVE THE SPORT.
The black-haired coach says, THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND WORDS. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF ART.
The brown-haired coach says, IT MUST HAVE TAKEN AGES. IT'S GONNA LOOK GREAT UP ON THE WALL.
Bec says, THAT'S BEEN ANOTHER BRILLIANT DAY OF DELIVERING ART TO YOUR DOOR. SEE YOU NEXT TIME ON—
Everyone shouts, MAKEAWAY TAKEAWAY!
[Doorbell ringing, energetic music plays, whistling]

Zach says, WOW! THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE AMAZING MONSTER LOCKING BOX, BEC. IT'S BRILLIANT!
Bec says, ANOTHER HAPPY CUSTOMER!
[Whooshing, zooming]
Title: “Makeaway Takeaway.”
