[Upbeat drum music]
DESCRIPTION: Carl, a gray raccoon wearing a yellow button-up shirt and a gray checkered vest, hides in a pile of stuffed animals. He pops up and smiles.
SINGERS: YES! It's Carl! The Collector!
DESCRIPTION: Carl opens a book full of stickers. He smells one of them and imagines himself surfing over a sea of pickles.
[Clap, clap]
SINGERS: It's Carl, it's Carl, ABSO-LUTE-LY!
DESCRIPTION: In a park, Carl rides his bike, accompanied by his fuzzy friends: Sheldon, a beaver wearing a green jacket; Nico and Arugula, twin pink bunnies in yellow dresses; and Forrest, a gray squirrel. They bike to a pizza shop and see their friend Lotta, a red fox wearing a green tracksuit.
[Clap, clap]
SINGERS: Carl! It's Carl! The Collector!
[Clap, clap]
SINGERS: It's Carl, it's Carl,
DESCRIPTION: Carl and his friends hold up glass jars filled with various collections of toy cars,
fuzzy balls, screws, watches, and candies.
SINGERS: The Collector!
SINGERS CHANTING: Carl! Carl! Carl! Carl! Carl! The Collector!
[Title] “Carl The Collector.”

CARL: Leaf It To Carl
DESCRIPTION: An autumn breeze blows a yellow leaf off a tree. Carl is riding a school bus down the street. He sees the leaf blowing through the air.
[Carl gasps, then sighs]
DESCRIPTION: Later, at recess, Carl sits on an outdoor table with Sheldon. Behind them, students are playing basketball and Gaga ball.
CARL: It was beautiful. Bright golden yellow. It looked like a half-circle with a stem! I've never seen another leaf like it. I'm going back after school to see if I can get one for my leaf collection.
DESCRIPTION: Carl pulls a book out of his backpack. It is filled with pressed leaves.
SHELDON: I didn't know you had a leaf collection.
CARL: I do.
SHELDON: I'd be glad to help you track down one of your yellow half-circles.
DESCRIPTION: Beside the table, Forrest begins a handstand. Sheldon, Carl, Nico, and Arugula count how long Forrest can hold the handstand for.
NICO: And GO!
SHELDON/CARL/NICO/ARUGULA: One Mississippi, Two Mississippi, Three Mississippi
[Loud whistle]
DESCRIPTION: The gym teacher blows the whistle and calls all the students over. Beside her is an armadillo wearing a white t-shirt and black pants. He is looking down and frowning.
THE GYM TEACHER: Everybody gather round! This here is Dylan. He's a new student - just started school today. Let's all say hi and make him feel welcome.
SHELDON/CARL/NICO/LOTTA/NICO: Hi Dylan.
THE GYM TEACHER: Great! Everybody back to free play.
FORREST: Hey Dylan! Wanna practice handstands with us?
ARUGULA: Dylan! Come do somersaults.
SHELDON: Do you like basketball, Dylan?
DESCRIPTION: Dylan begins to look back and forth between the crowd of new people. Their voices start to echo, and he puts his hand over his mouth.
FORREST: Hey Dylan!
ARUGULA: Dylan!
CARL: Dylan!
DESCRIPTION: Dylan curls into a ball and rolls into the Gaga ball pit. He spins in fast circles before shooting into the air and going through the basketball net!
[Rolling Jams music]
DESCRIPTION: As he falls to the ground, Dylan lands on a cart of basketballs and sends them rolling towards Forrest, who is mid-handstand.
FORREST: Oh no!
DESCRIPTION: The balls miss Forrest.
FORREST: Phew!
DESCRIPTION: Dylan is rolling right towards Forrest!
FORREST: Hey! Watch out!
DESCRIPTION: Dylan hits Forrest, and he lands on his back. Dylan rolls back towards the school and lands next to Arugula.
ARUGULA: It was nice to meet you, Dylan.
DESCRIPTION: Someone opens up the door, and Dyland rolls inside. Later that day, in the library, Lotta, Forrest, Sheldon, and Carl are sitting around a table, reading books.
LOTTA: So he just rolled back inside?
SHELDON: It was quite the hullabaloo.
CARL: Hullabaloo! I have that word in my word collection. It means lots of noise, activity, and confusion. Like a commotion!
LIBRARIAN: Shh!
LOTTA: That does sound like a hullabaloo. I'm glad he didn't hurt you, Forrest.
FORREST: You kidding? I'm tough. Plus, I kinda want to know how he did that!
DESCRIPTION: Just then, Arugula and Nico join them at the table.
ARUGULA: And I want to know why...why would Dylan do all that?
SHELDON: Maybe he was nervous?
FORREST: Or maybe he wanted to impress us all with his basketball skills! I mean have you ever seen someone put themselves through the hoop?
NICO: Or...maybe he's just a mean kid. My friend's cousin's soccer goalie, Louise, heard that at his old school…
DESCRIPTION: In her imagination, Nico sees Dylan painting. Then, he rolls into a ball and knocks over the painting.
NICO: Dylan was painting a picture in art class… But, when someone else used all the orange paint, he got so mad, he wrecked the whole class!
[The Fuzzy Friends gasp]
CARL: Wait so he meant to knock everyone's art over?
LIBRARIAN: Shh!
SHELDON: We don't know that, Nico. It's just a rumor.
ARUGULA: Yeah, Nico. That story was passed along by a lot of people, and none of us were there. We don't really know what happened.
NICO: We saw him roll into a ball today! Seems like it could have happened.
DESCRIPTION: Carl flips to a new page in his book.
CARL: It's a gingko leaf!
LIBRARIAN: Shh!
SHELDON: Carl saw a really cool leaf this morning on the bus to school. He needs it for his collection.
FORREST: What did it look like?
CARL: It was like a yellow semi-circle just like this.
DESCRIPTION: Carl turns the book around to show the Fuzzy Friends.
SHELDON: [whispering] Carl and I are gonna see if we can track one after school.
FORREST: That sounds fun, can I come?
LOTTA: And me?
CARL: Sure! Why not!
NICO: And us?
[The Fuzzy Friends giggle]
LIBRARIAN: Shhh!!!
[The Fuzzy Friends let out tiny giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Later that day, the final bell rings. The school bus pulls out of the parking lot, and all the Fuzzy Friends make their way through the neighbourhood.
[School bell ringing]
[School bus engine sound]
DESCRIPTION: In his imagination, Carl pictures the yellow leaf from this morning. The bus comes to a stop, and all the Fuzzy Friends get off.
CARL: Presenting my newest addition to my… newest edition to my leaf collection?!
DESCRIPTION: When the bus pulls away, Carl looks across the road and sees the tree completely bare.
CARL: I don't understand. Just this morning, the whole sidewalk was covered in yellow leaves.
FORREST: You mean...those yellow leaves?
DESCRIPTION: Across the street, a green compost truck loads yellow leaves into its container.
CARL: Oh no!
[Compost truck sounds]
DESCRIPTION: The truck drives off.
LOTTA: They were very pretty leaves, Carl. The tree will make more in the springtime.
CARL: But the leaves will be green in the spring. I'll have to wait until NEXT FALL for the leaves to change color to yellow.
ARUGULA: Wait a minute! Look up there!
DESCRIPTION: At the very top of the tree is a single, yellow leaf.
CARL: The last leaf! Let's go get it for my collection!
NICO: [gasp] Look!
DESCRIPTION: Dylan walks across the grass and sits under the tree. He has a notebook and a pencil.
LOTTA: Dylan. What's he coloring?
CARL: Surely he wouldn't mind if I took the last leaf for my collection. Would he?
NICO: Oh, I think he might…
DESCRIPTION: In her imagination, Nico pictures a student asking Dylan for an eraser. Imaginary Dylan’s eyes glow red, and he leaps into the air and destroys the desks.
NICO: My friend's cousin's see-saw partner's sister said once at his old school, they asked Dylan to borrow an eraser… He got so mad, he broke both their desks!
SHELDON: Nico! That's just another rumor. We weren't there. We don't know it's true.
ARUGULA: Yeah. All we know about Dylan is what we saw today...the mess he made on the playground. Maybe we shouldn't judge him based on just that? Everyone has bad days.
SHELDON: Hey, since the leaf is so high, maybe Forrest could climb that tree and be back here before Dylan knows what's happening!
CARL: That makes sense.
FORREST: It does? I mean, it does! Here I go.
DESCRIPTION: Forrest takes off his backpack and lines up at the sidewalk. But then, he makes eye contact with Dylan, they blink at each other.
[Forrest studders]
DESCRIPTION: In his memory, Forrest remembers Dylan rolling into him at recess.
FORREST: Ahh!
DESCRIPTION: Forrest has closed his eyes in real life. When he opens them, he is still standing with his friends.
FORREST: Did I do it?
LOTTA: C'mon guys! I know we can figure out how to get Carl that leaf, without Dylan rolling over us!
DESCRIPTION: A little while later, the Fuzzy Friends have made a contraption to get the leaf. A very long stick stretches across the road and is knocking into the top of the tree.
SHELDON: A little more. More!
DESCRIPTION: The contraption falls apart, and all the individual wood sticks fall around the Fuzzy Friends.
CARL: Oh no!
[wood sticks hitting the ground]
NICO: Scatter!
LOTTA: Run away!
CARL: Meet back in ten minutes!
DESCRIPTION: All of the friends run in opposite directions. A little while later, Nico and Arugula use a remote-control helicopter toy to knock into the tree.
FORREST: Steady.
NICO: You're gonna miss it! You don't know what you're doing! You haven't had the training!
DESCRIPTION: Nico and Arugula fight over the remote control. The toy helicopter flies closer and closer to Dylan and the ground.
SHELDON: Uh...Nico? Arugula?
[Nico gasps]
DESCRIPTION: The helicopter crashes into some bushes.
[Crash]
LOTTA: Oh, my.
DESCRIPTION: Later, Forrest is standing on a tall branch of an opposite tree. He is wearing a squirrel flight suit, a helmet, goggles, and is holding a radio.
SHELDON: [over the radio] You sure about this, Forrest?
FORREST: If I go in from above, he'll have no chance of rolling me over again. And remember, by morning, I am Forrest, virtuoso of the handstands, but by afternoon I am FORESTRO, squirrel of the sky!
DESCRIPTION: Forrest flies through the air, but hits the tree.
NICO: Would you look at that!
[Forrest gasps!]
DESCRIPTION: As he is hanging from the tree, he leans down and speaks to Dylan.
FORREST: Ah! Hey! How did you bounce yourself through that hoop?
DESCRIPTION: Dylan’s eyes widen. He curls up into a ball and rolls away. He rolls past the rest of the Fuzzy Friends and rolls over Carl’s leaf collection book. As he does, the book gets stuck to him and rolls away!
CARL: My leaf collection! Follow that ball!
DESCRIPTION: The friends get on their bikes and skateboards and chase after Dylan. As he rolls, Dylan knocks over some garbage bins, stopping the friends in their tracks. Forrest runs by them and uses the bins as a take-off. He flies into the air in pursuit of Dylan.
FORREST: Coming through! Forrest to the rescue! Rats! Missed him.
DESCRIPTION: Dylan rolls into his house.
FORREST: He's just such a fast roller! But this is our chance. Let's just go back to the park and get the leaf.
DESCRIPTION: Carl turns to see Dylan poking his head out the door.
CARL: I have to talk to Dylan.
SHELDON: What? Why?
CARL: He has my whole leaf collection stuck to his back. Without it, the yellow leaf doesn't matter.
LOTTA: I'm going with you. I have got to know what he's been drawing over there all day.
DESCRIPTION: Carl and Lotta walk up the front porch and ring the doorbell.
[Doorbell ring]
CARL: Hello? Is Dylan home? I believe he has something that belongs to me.
DESCRIPTION: Dylan opens the door. He is frowning and looking down. In his hand is a notebook filled with drawings.
DYLAN: I don't have anything of yours.
LOTTA: Did you draw that?
DESCRIPTION: Dylan holds up his notebook. He shows Carl and Lotta drawings of all the Fuzzy Friends.
DYLAN: Yeah. I was watching you all play for a while. It looked like a lot of fun.
CARL: Dylan, did you want to play with us?
DYLAN: I did. But I didn't know how to ask. My old school was a lot smaller than yours. Meeting so many new people today was really scary. Everybody looking at me. It's been...a lot.
CARL: I think I understand. Making new friends can be hard!
DYLAN: Yeah! That's why I rolled up.
LOTTA: So you don't roll into a ball because you're angry?
DYLAN: No. I do it when I get nervous.
ARUGULA: And you didn't destroy an art class at your old school?
DESCRIPTION: Dylan steps out onto the porch and talks to the rest of the Fuzzy Friends.
DYLAN: Never! I love art class! It's my favorite. Where did you hear that?
NICO: The stories I heard might've been about a different armadillo. Sorry, everybody. Sorry, Dylan. I got carried away.
DYLAN: I understand. Once I'm rolling, I get carried away too.
SHELDON: After what happened on the playground, and all of the rumors, we were so nervous that you'd roll over us, we made a big mess of the park.
DYLAN: It was quite the hullabaloo!
DESCRIPTION: Forrest rolls by on the grass.
FORREST: Whee!
DYLAN: I guess I didn't make much of a first impression. I didn't mean to scare everyone.
ARUGULA: We all have bad days, Dylan. And we shouldn't have made up our minds about you so quickly.
LOTTA: You're gonna fit right in! I love to draw, too. And it looks like you love collecting leaves, just like Carl.
DESCRIPTION: Dylan turns around and notices Carl’s book stuck to his back. Carl takes it back.
DYLAN: Huh? Oh. Sorry.
SHELDON: Forrest, buddy? What are you doing?
DESCRIPTION: Forrest stops rolling and lies on his back.
FORREST: Dylan is the fastest roller I've ever seen. I think it's cause of how tightly he balls up. What is your secret, dude?
DESCRIPTION: Dylan helps Forrest up from the ground.
DYLAN: Come on, I'll show you!
CARL: And I'm gonna get my gingko leaf!
DESCRIPTION: Later, a breeze blows the yellow leaf off the top of the tree. Carl catches it and adds it to his book.
CARL: Got it! For leaf lovers everywhere!
DESCRIPTION: The rest of the friends curl into balls and roll down a hill with Dylan.
FORREST: Whee!
ARUGULA: Whee!
SHELDON: Woo! Whee! Yay!
FUZZY FRIENDS: [giggling]
[Drumbeat]
SINGERS: YES! It's Carl, The Collector!
[Clap, clap]

DESCRIPTION: All of the friends run in opposite directions. A little while later, Nico and Arugula use a remote-control helicopter toy to knock into the tree.
FORREST: Steady.
NICO: You're gonna miss it! You don't know what you're doing! You haven't had the training!
DESCRIPTION: Nico and Arugula fight over the remote control. The toy helicopter flies closer and closer to Dylan and the ground.
SHELDON: Uh...Nico? Arugula?
[Nico gasps]
DESCRIPTION: The helicopter crashes into some bushes.
[Crash]
LOTTA: Oh, my.
DESCRIPTION: Later, Forrest is standing on a tall branch of an opposite tree. He is wearing a squirrel flight suit, a helmet, goggles, and is holding a radio.
SHELDON: [over the radio] You sure about this, Forrest?
FORREST: If I go in from above, he'll have no chance of rolling me over again. And remember, by morning, I am Forrest, virtuoso of the handstands, but by afternoon I am FORESTRO, squirrel of the sky!
DESCRIPTION: Forrest flies through the air, but hits the tree.
NICO: Would you look at that!
[Forrest gasps!]
DESCRIPTION: As he is hanging from the tree, he leans down and speaks to Dylan.
FORREST: Ah! Hey! How did you bounce yourself through that hoop?
DESCRIPTION: Dylan’s eyes widen. He curls up into a ball and rolls away. He rolls past the rest of the Fuzzy Friends and rolls over Carl’s leaf collection book. As he does, the book gets stuck to him and rolls away!
CARL: My leaf collection! Follow that ball!
DESCRIPTION: The friends get on their bikes and skateboards and chase after Dylan. As he rolls, Dylan knocks over some garbage bins, stopping the friends in their tracks. Forrest runs by them and uses the bins as a take-off. He flies into the air in pursuit of Dylan.
FORREST: Coming through! Forrest to the rescue! Rats! Missed him.
DESCRIPTION: Dylan rolls into his house.
FORREST: He's just such a fast roller! But this is our chance. Let's just go back to the park and get the leaf.
DESCRIPTION: Carl turns to see Dylan poking his head out the door.
CARL: I have to talk to Dylan.
SHELDON: What? Why?
CARL: He has my whole leaf collection stuck to his back. Without it, the yellow leaf doesn't matter.
LOTTA: I'm going with you. I have got to know what he's been drawing over there all day.
DESCRIPTION: Carl and Lotta walk up the front porch and ring the doorbell.
[Doorbell ring]
CARL: Hello? Is Dylan home? I believe he has something that belongs to me.
DESCRIPTION: Dylan opens the door. He is frowning and looking down. In his hand is a notebook filled with drawings.
DYLAN: I don't have anything of yours.
LOTTA: Did you draw that?
DESCRIPTION: Dylan holds up his notebook. He shows Carl and Lotta drawings of all the Fuzzy Friends.
DYLAN: Yeah. I was watching you all play for a while. It looked like a lot of fun.
CARL: Dylan, did you want to play with us?
DYLAN: I did. But I didn't know how to ask. My old school was a lot smaller than yours. Meeting so many new people today was really scary. Everybody looking at me. It's been...a lot.
CARL: I think I understand. Making new friends can be hard!
DYLAN: Yeah! That's why I rolled up.
LOTTA: So you don't roll into a ball because you're angry?
DYLAN: No. I do it when I get nervous.
ARUGULA: And you didn't destroy an art class at your old school?
DESCRIPTION: Dylan steps out onto the porch and talks to the rest of the Fuzzy Friends.
DYLAN: Never! I love art class! It's my favorite. Where did you hear that?
NICO: The stories I heard might've been about a different armadillo. Sorry, everybody. Sorry, Dylan. I got carried away.
DYLAN: I understand. Once I'm rolling, I get carried away too.
SHELDON: After what happened on the playground, and all of the rumors, we were so nervous that you'd roll over us, we made a big mess of the park.
DYLAN: It was quite the hullabaloo!
DESCRIPTION: Forrest rolls by on the grass.
FORREST: Whee!
DYLAN: I guess I didn't make much of a first impression. I didn't mean to scare everyone.
ARUGULA: We all have bad days, Dylan. And we shouldn't have made up our minds about you so quickly.
LOTTA: You're gonna fit right in! I love to draw, too. And it looks like you love collecting leaves, just like Carl.
DESCRIPTION: Dylan turns around and notices Carl’s book stuck to his back. Carl takes it back.
DYLAN: Huh? Oh. Sorry.
SHELDON: Forrest, buddy? What are you doing?
DESCRIPTION: Forrest stops rolling and lies on his back.
FORREST: Dylan is the fastest roller I've ever seen. I think it's cause of how tightly he balls up. What is your secret, dude?
DESCRIPTION: Dylan helps Forrest up from the ground.
DYLAN: Come on, I'll show you!
CARL: And I'm gonna get my gingko leaf!
DESCRIPTION: Later, a breeze blows the yellow leaf off the top of the tree. Carl catches it and adds it to his book.
CARL: Got it! For leaf lovers everywhere!
DESCRIPTION: The rest of the friends curl into balls and roll down a hill with Dylan.
FORREST: Whee!
ARUGULA: Whee!
SHELDON: Woo! Whee! Yay!
FUZZY FRIENDS: [giggling]
[Drumbeat]
SINGERS: YES! It's Carl, The Collector!
[Clap, clap]
SINGERS: It's Carl, it's Carl, ABSO-LUTE-LY!
[Clap, clap, clap]
SINGERS: Carl! It's Carl The Collector!
[Clap, clap]
SINGERS: It's Carl, it's Carl, The Collector!
SINGERS: [chanting] Carl! Carl! Carl! Carl! Carl! The Collector!
