DESCRIPTION: On a dirt path, Carl, Sheldon, Arugula and Forrest ride bicycles, and Nico rides a skateboard. Sheldon is a brown beaver who wears a small orange beanie and a long green plaid shirt. CARL: Ugh!
[Rock clink]
DESCRIPTION: Cark stacks the rocks as his mama arrives holding a letter.
CARL’S MAMA: Hey Carl! Guess what?
CARL: I did it! I finally stacked 5 rocks from biggest to smallest in my rock collection! A stacked rock pile like this is called a cairn.
[The music stops, paper rustles]
CARL’S MAMA: Ooh, neat! So I just got a letter from the school, and you have a new bus stop!
[Rocks clatter, mellow music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Carl stands and knocks over his cairn. He stims, wiggling his fingers.
CARL: A new bus stop?
CARL’S MAMA: That's right, honey. Your stop is moving from in front of our house to just a few blocks away.
CARL: But I like waiting on the bottom step each morning, and waving at you as I get on. Now, you won't be able to wave at me from the living room window!
[Wind gusts, tumbleweed rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Carl imagines standing at a bus stop alone at night. He watches a tumbleweed roll down the empty street.
CARL: Now I'll have to wait alone?
[Whoosh]
DESCRIPTION: Back in his living room, Carl paces and rubs his hands together.
CARL: But Mama, what if I can't find it?!
CARL’S MAMA: Well, the new stop isn't that far. And I can wait with you the first time, okay? Plus, you know the bus comes on time, so you won't be waiting long.
[Phone rings]
DESCRIPTION: Carl’s mama takes out her smartphone.
CARL’S MAMA: Oh, I gotta take this!
[Chime]
DESCRIPTION: Carl’s mama answers her smartphone.
CARL’S MAMA: Hello, Anne! Can you just hold on for one moment?
DESCRIPTION: Carl rubs his hands together. His mama puts her hand on his shoulder.
CARL’S MAMA: We can continue brainstorming ways to help you get more comfortable with the new stop, okay? Oh, hey, maybe we can make a new routine for our bus stop!
[Chime]
DESCRIPTION: Carl’s mama taps her smartphone screen and walks away.
CARL’S MAMA: Hello!
[Energetic music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In Carl’s room, Lotta plays her keyboard and moves his arms as he sings. Carl kneels, shoulders slumped, looking down at the carpet.
SHELDON: "Fuzzy, fuzzy, Fuzzytown. We are a great sensation!"
LOTTA: No, no! That's not the key. It's like this.
[Energetic music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Lotta plays the keyboard.
SHELDON: ""Fuzzy, fuzzy, Fuzzytown. We are a great sensa-tion!"
SHELDON: Carl, you're not singing. This is your favourite Echtotherms song! What's up?
[Upbeat music plays]
CARL: I have a new bus stop farther from home. Mama and I brainstormed some ways to help me feel better about it. But...
SHELDON: What?
CARL: I'm still nervous about stuff...
SHELDON: What are you nervous about?
CARL: Well, what if...
[Bus breaks hiss, squeak, sign squeaks, tumbleweed rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Carl imagines standing at the bus stop alone at night. The bus arrives and extends a stop sign. Carl boards the bus and discovers all the front and middle seats are filled with students. A tumbleweed rolls across the back of the bus.
CARL: What if there are only seats left in the back? I like to sit in the front!
DESCRIPTION: The daydream ends.
LOTTA: I get it. I like to sit in the front too!
[The music stops]
SHELDON: It's ok, buddy. Dad said the new bus stop route picks me up first. I'll save a seat for you in the front. We'll sit together!
CARL: Thanks, Sheldon and Lotta!
[Upbeat music plays, wind whooshes, tumbleweed rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Carl imagines walking at night and arriving at the end of the sidewalk. The tumbleweed rolls past and falls off the edge of the sidewalk.
CARL: But there's something else I'm worried about! With the new stop... What if I get lost walking there and back home?
[Whoosh]
DESCRIPTION: The daydream ends, and Lotta holds her hands together.
LOTTA: I was really nervous my first time riding the bus.
CARL: It's not my first time, but it's my first time going to this bus stop.
[Mellow music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Lotta shows Carl a map in her sketchpad. On the map, a dotted line leads from her house to the school.
LOTTA: Oh, right. Well, what helped me was making a map of the route to school so I could follow along. Maybe I could make you a map of how to get to your stop!
CARL: Thanks, Lotta, that would be cool! Did you know I have the ultimate, official collection of maps?
[Book thumps]
DESCRIPTION: Carl takes a book off a shelf and puts it on the carpet between Lotta and Sheldon.
CARL: This is a world atlas! Dad got it for me at the Map Museum. Dad and I learned that there are more types of maps than just ones that help you get somewhere.
SHELDON: Can I look at it?
CARL: Yes, you may, Sheldon!
[Pages rustle]
DESCRIPTION: Sheldon opens the book to a topographic map.
CARL: There are topographic maps...They show how steep or flat an area is. Here, you can see where the mountains are, and their height. And look at what I inserted into this book!
[Page rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Carl turns the page, revealing a two-page map of Fuzzytown taped in the book.
LOTTA: A map of Fuzzytown!
CARL: Yeah! That's us and the other cities close to us, and the main highways!
LOTTA: This is helpful. Now I can imagine all of Fuzzytown when I make the map of your bus stop! Um...I got so excited about making a map, I realized I don't know where the stop is!
[Everyone laughs]
SHELDON: Let's go together! Then Carl can practice walking to his stop.
CARL: Yeah, that's a good idea.
[Footsteps tap, whoosh, upbeat music plays, birds sing]
DESCRIPTION: In front of the house, Lotta holds her sketchpad, and Carl has a piece of paper.
CARL: Mama says my new stop is a few blocks from my house.
SHELDON: Can I see?
[Paper rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Sheldon takes the paper.
SHELDON: I know where it is! Let's go!
[Beeps]
DESCRIPTION: Carl pushes buttons on his watch.
CARL: Wait. First, I need to set my watch to count my steps. I'm also gonna time how long it takes to get there. Okay! Ready!
LOTTA: And I'll note any landmarks we pass. Landmarks on maps are important, because they help you keep track of where you are.
DESCRIPTION: Sheldon walks, and the others follow.
SHELDON: Keep going! This way. I'm thinking we're about halfway there. Lotta, what have we seen so far?
[Birds chirp]
DESCRIPTION: At a pair of crosswalks beside a pink house, everyone stops walking.
LOTTA: If that's the case, then...once you pass the pink house next to the lamppost and reach the crosswalk, you're halfway there!
[Pen scratches]
CARL: Can you add it to the map, so I know that landmark is halfway to my new stop? And it took... 721 Carl steps to walk from my house to the pink house. Can you add that to the map?
LOTTA: Sure thing, Carl!
DESCRIPTION: On the map, a dotted line connects Carl’s house to the pink house by the lamppost.
[Upbeat music plays]
SHELDON: Cool! And at the pink house that Lotta put on the map, you turn right and cross at the crosswalk!
DESCRIPTION: Everyone looks both ways at the crosswalk.
SHELDON: Let's go!
DESCRIPTION: They cross the street and walk on the sidewalk. Lotta stops and looks at a bear-shaped mailbox.
LOTTA: Hmm. Another good landmark!
[Pen scribbles]
DESCRIPTION: Lotta draws on her sketchpad.
SHELDON: Now, we've got to take a second right.
[Birds sing, footsteps patter, upbeat music continues, car engine whooshes]
DESCRIPTION: Sheldon turns right, and the others follow. A car drives past as Sheldon stops beside a little library box with googly eyes on the top.
SHELDON: We're here! This is your new bus stop, Carl.
[The music stops, birds sing]
CARL: Cool! I'll know I'm at my stop when I see this little library and the park across the street.
[Pen scratches]
DESCRIPTION: Lotta draws the mini library on the map.
LOTTA: Great landmarks! Adding a mini library to the map.
CARL: From the pink house to this little library, it took us 737 Carl steps.
LOTTA: I'll add that to the map.
[Upbeat music plays, pen scratches]
DESCRIPTION: Lotta draws a star at the bus stop and connects it with a dotted line to the pink house and the lamppost.
CARL: Sheldon, you were right. We were halfway there at the pink house! That means…It takes me a total of 1458 Carl steps to walk to the new stop! And it means I have to leave my house at least seven minutes earlier to make it on time.
LOTTA: And to help keep you on track, I also added another landmark that you passed after crossing the intersection: the bear mailbox.
DESCRIPTION: Lotta points her pen at the bear mailbox.
CARL: I like that mailbox, bear-y much. Heh-heh. That was a joke.
[Sheldon and Lotta giggle, page rustles, birds sing]
DESCRIPTION: Lotta rips the page from her sketchbook and gives it to Carl.
LOTTA: Here you go, Carl.
CARL: Thanks! I feel MUCH better after walking to the stop, and with Lotta's map! I'll add this to my map collection!
SHELDON: Hey, you might feel even better if you practice waiting and getting on!
CARL: Uhhh...we don't have a bus.
LOTTA: Well...actually! I have a big refrigerator box at home that I was going to use for an art project. We could use it for our school bus!
SHELDON: Great idea! Carl, wait here. Lotta and I will go around the block and come pick you up as if we're really riding the bus!
[Footsteps patter, birds chirp, engines hum]
DESCRIPTION: Carl smiles and watches Sheldon and Lotta run down the sidewalk. He puts the map in his pocket. Later, he paces with his mouth downturned as vehicles drive past.
SHELDON: Beep! Beep!
DESCRIPTION: Lotta and Sheldon arrive on the sidewalk, looking through the cut-out windows of a box painted like a school bus.
CARL: Cool bus, Lotta!
LOTTA: It's not finished yet. But thanks!
[Lotta whooshes]
CARL: What was that weird sound?
LOTTA: That's kinda the sound buses make when they stop and open the doors. I don't like that sound...
CARL: I'm glad you guys are here. I was getting nervous waiting alone!
[The music stops, Carl’s mama slurps, bus brakes hiss, door bangs]
DESCRIPTION: Carl remembers his mama drinking her tea in the doorway of his house. The bus arrives, and they wave to each other.
CARL: At my old stop, I didn't really wait alone, because Mama was right at the front door. I'd sit on the front steps, and she'd wave to me as I got on the bus. I'll miss that...
[Sad music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: In the present, Carl’s shoulders slump.
LOTTA: While waiting, I listen to music! That way, I don't feel alone.
[Upbeat music plays, birds chirp]
CARL: Hmm. I could bring my atlas to look at...but that's too big. But I also have a new comic book! I could read it at the stop!
SHELDON: Great idea! Let's pretend ride to school.
[Bus rustles, thump]
DESCRIPTION: Lotta and Sheldon lift the box, and Carl walks between them. The box bounces.
CARL: We just went over a bump!
[Everyone laughs, box thumps]
DESCRIPTION: Everyone jumps.
EVERYONE: BUMP!
[Whoosh, door opens, paper rustles, the music stops, birds sing]
DESCRIPTION: In the morning, Carl opens the front door of his house. He smiles and takes the map out of his pocket.
CARL’S MAMA: You sure you don't want me to come with you?
[Upbeat music plays]
CARL: I think I got it. Lotta drew me a map of how to get to my stop. It's 1458 steps from here. And I have to leave at least seven minutes earlier than before to get there on time! Which is...now!
[Smooch]
DESCRIPTION: Carl’s mama kisses the top of his head, and he runs down the porch steps.

DESCRIPTION: Carl looks at a pink garage. He stops by the lamppost by the pink house.
CARL: Pink house. Wait, wait, which way do I turn? Oh yeah! Right!
DESCRIPTION: On the map, the raccoon icon crosses the street.
CARL: This way!
DESCRIPTION: Carl stops and looks at the bear mailbox.
CARL: There's the bear mailbox! I'm going the right way!
[Footsteps patter, upbeat music continues]
DESCRIPTION: On the map, the raccoon icon turns right and moves towards the star.
CARL: Keep going, keep going, and then…we take a second right...and we should see... A house with a little library. And the park is across the street.
[Car engine rumbles]
DESCRIPTION: Carl stops beside the little library, and a car drives past. He puts the map away.
CARL: I'm here, at my new bus stop! Hmm. The bus isn't here yet, but I could pass the time reading my comic.
[Pages rustle, birds sing, light music plays, bus whooshes, doors squeak]
DESCRIPTION: Carl takes out a comic book and reads. The bus arrives and extends the stop sign. Mr. Barnaby opens the doors, Carl boards the bus, and they fist-bump.
CARL: Hello, Mr. New-Bus-Stop-Bus-Driver Barnaby!
LOTTA: Hi Carl!
DESCRIPTION: Lotta and Sheldon wave.
SHELDON: I saved a seat for you!
DESCRIPTION: Carl sits with Sheldon in the second row. Lotta sits in the seat behind them, and the Bunny twins sit behind her.
CARL: Hi, guys! The map worked! I made it to my new stop on time! I can't wait to use it again to get back home after school!

LOTTA: And I'll note any landmarks we pass. Landmarks on maps are important, because they help you keep track of where you are.
DESCRIPTION: Sheldon walks, and the others follow.
SHELDON: Keep going! This way. I'm thinking we're about halfway there. Lotta, what have we seen so far?
[Birds chirp]
DESCRIPTION: At a pair of crosswalks beside a pink house, everyone stops walking.
LOTTA: If that's the case, then...once you pass the pink house next to the lamppost and reach the crosswalk, you're halfway there!
[Pen scratches]
CARL: Can you add it to the map, so I know that landmark is halfway to my new stop? And it took... 721 Carl steps to walk from my house to the pink house. Can you add that to the map?
LOTTA: Sure thing, Carl!
DESCRIPTION: On the map, a dotted line connects Carl’s house to the pink house by the lamppost.
[Upbeat music plays]
SHELDON: Cool! And at the pink house that Lotta put on the map, you turn right and cross at the crosswalk!
DESCRIPTION: Everyone looks both ways at the crosswalk.
SHELDON: Let's go!
DESCRIPTION: They cross the street and walk on the sidewalk. Lotta stops and looks at a bear-shaped mailbox.
LOTTA: Hmm. Another good landmark!
[Pen scribbles]
DESCRIPTION: Lotta draws on her sketchpad.
SHELDON: Now, we've got to take a second right.
[Birds sing, footsteps patter, upbeat music continues, car engine whooshes]
DESCRIPTION: Sheldon turns right, and the others follow. A car drives past as Sheldon stops beside a little library box with googly eyes on the top.
SHELDON: We're here! This is your new bus stop, Carl.
[The music stops, birds sing]
CARL: Cool! I'll know I'm at my stop when I see this little library and the park across the street.
[Pen scratches]
DESCRIPTION: Lotta draws the mini library on the map.
LOTTA: Great landmarks! Adding a mini library to the map.
CARL: From the pink house to this little library, it took us 737 Carl steps.
LOTTA: I'll add that to the map.
[Upbeat music plays, pen scratches]
DESCRIPTION: Lotta draws a star at the bus stop and connects it with a dotted line to the pink house and the lamppost.
CARL: Sheldon, you were right. We were halfway there at the pink house! That means…It takes me a total of 1458 Carl steps to walk to the new stop! And it means I have to leave my house at least seven minutes earlier to make it on time.
LOTTA: And to help keep you on track, I also added another landmark that you passed after crossing the intersection: the bear mailbox.
DESCRIPTION: Lotta points her pen at the bear mailbox.
CARL: I like that mailbox, bear-y much. Heh-heh. That was a joke.
[Sheldon and Lotta giggle, page rustles, birds sing]
DESCRIPTION: Lotta rips the page from her sketchbook and gives it to Carl.
LOTTA: Here you go, Carl.
CARL: Thanks! I feel MUCH better after walking to the stop, and with Lotta's map! I'll add this to my map collection!
SHELDON: Hey, you might feel even better if you practice waiting and getting on!
CARL: Uhhh...we don't have a bus.
LOTTA: Well...actually! I have a big refrigerator box at home that I was going to use for an art project. We could use it for our school bus!
SHELDON: Great idea! Carl, wait here. Lotta and I will go around the block and come pick you up as if we're really riding the bus!
[Footsteps patter, birds chirp, engines hum]
DESCRIPTION: Carl smiles and watches Sheldon and Lotta run down the sidewalk. He puts the map in his pocket. Later, he paces with his mouth downturned as vehicles drive past.
SHELDON: Beep! Beep!
DESCRIPTION: Lotta and Sheldon arrive on the sidewalk, looking through the cut-out windows of a box painted like a school bus.
CARL: Cool bus, Lotta!
LOTTA: It's not finished yet. But thanks!
[Lotta whooshes]
CARL: What was that weird sound?
LOTTA: That's kinda the sound buses make when they stop and open the doors. I don't like that sound...
CARL: I'm glad you guys are here. I was getting nervous waiting alone!
[The music stops, Carl’s mama slurps, bus brakes hiss, door bangs]
DESCRIPTION: Carl remembers his mama drinking her tea in the doorway of his house. The bus arrives, and they wave to each other.
CARL: At my old stop, I didn't really wait alone, because Mama was right at the front door. I'd sit on the front steps, and she'd wave to me as I got on the bus. I'll miss that...
[Sad music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: In the present, Carl’s shoulders slump.
LOTTA: While waiting, I listen to music! That way, I don't feel alone.
[Upbeat music plays, birds chirp]
CARL: Hmm. I could bring my atlas to look at...but that's too big. But I also have a new comic book! I could read it at the stop!
SHELDON: Great idea! Let's pretend ride to school.
[Bus rustles, thump]
DESCRIPTION: Lotta and Sheldon lift the box, and Carl walks between them. The box bounces.
CARL: We just went over a bump!
[Everyone laughs, box thumps]
DESCRIPTION: Everyone jumps.
EVERYONE: BUMP!
[Whoosh, door opens, paper rustles, the music stops, birds sing]
DESCRIPTION: In the morning, Carl opens the front door of his house. He smiles and takes the map out of his pocket.
CARL’S MAMA: You sure you don't want me to come with you?
[Upbeat music plays]
CARL: I think I got it. Lotta drew me a map of how to get to my stop. It's 1458 steps from here. And I have to leave at least seven minutes earlier than before to get there on time! Which is...now!
[Smooch]
DESCRIPTION: Carl’s mama kisses the top of his head, and he runs down the porch steps.
CARL: Bye, Mama!
DESCRIPTION: Carl returns.
CARL: Hey, we just created a new bus-stop-goodbye routine!
[Carl’s mama chuckles]
CARL’S MAMA: We sure did, honey! Have a great day!
[Birds chirp, footsteps patter, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Carl’s mama waves. Carl looks at the map as he walks down his walkway and onto the sidewalk. On the map, a raccoon icon moves on the dotted line.
CARL: So far, so good.
DESCRIPTION: Carl looks at a pink garage. He stops by the lamppost by the pink house.
CARL: Pink house. Wait, wait, which way do I turn? Oh yeah! Right!
DESCRIPTION: On the map, the raccoon icon crosses the street.
CARL: This way!
DESCRIPTION: Carl stops and looks at the bear mailbox.
CARL: There's the bear mailbox! I'm going the right way!
[Footsteps patter, upbeat music continues]
DESCRIPTION: On the map, the raccoon icon turns right and moves towards the star.
CARL: Keep going, keep going, and then…we take a second right...and we should see... A house with a little library. And the park is across the street.
[Car engine rumbles]
DESCRIPTION: Carl stops beside the little library, and a car drives past. He puts the map away.
CARL: I'm here, at my new bus stop! Hmm. The bus isn't here yet, but I could pass the time reading my comic.
[Pages rustle, birds sing, light music plays, bus whooshes, doors squeak]
DESCRIPTION: Carl takes out a comic book and reads. The bus arrives and extends the stop sign. Mr. Barnaby opens the doors, Carl boards the bus, and they fist-bump.
CARL: Hello, Mr. New-Bus-Stop-Bus-Driver Barnaby!
LOTTA: Hi Carl!
DESCRIPTION: Lotta and Sheldon wave.
SHELDON: I saved a seat for you!
DESCRIPTION: Carl sits with Sheldon in the second row. Lotta sits in the seat behind them, and the Bunny twins sit behind her.
CARL: Hi, guys! The map worked! I made it to my new stop on time! I can't wait to use it again to get back home after school!
SHELDON: So glad, buddy!
[Door shuts, engine rumbles, bus rattles]
DESCRIPTION: The bus drives over a pothole.
CARL, LOTTA, AND SHELDON: BUMP!
[They laugh]
[Upbeat music plays]
[Song] YES! It's Carl, The Collector!
[Clap, clap]
[Song] It's Carl, it's Carl, ABSO-LUTE-LY!
[Clap, clap]
