Transcript: Vampire Talent Show
At night, the stars and full moon shine above the Moon family’s mansion. Isadora Moon, a young half-vampire, half-fairy girl with long black hair, pointy ears, pink bat wings and vampire fangs, wears a light purple cardigan over a light pink dress with black stars.
[Upbeat music plays]
A singer sings, ISADORA MOON THE ONE AND ONLY, HERE I GO. I'M TOTALLY UNIQUE AND EXTRA-STARRY.
Isadora spins and waves her star wand.
The singer sings, WAVING MY WAND, FLYING FEARLESSLY, YEAH IT'S YOUR GIRL, ISADORA.
Isadora’s fairy mom, Cordelia, and vampire dad, Bartholomew, join Isadora. Cordelia has long, wavy pink hair, pointy ears and green wings. She wears a flower crown and a green cardigan over a pink dress. Bartholomew has short black hair and wears a black and purple cape with a striped, grey suit vest.
The singer sings, A LITTLE BIT OF BOTH. HALF A VAMPIRE, HALF A FAIRY.
Isadora flies over her neighbourhood with Pink Rabbit, a stuffed toy that comes to life.
The singer sings, READY FOR A NEW EXCITING JOURNEY!
Isadora dives into the ocean. Text reads, “Written by Jen Upton. Theme Song by Helen Park.”
The singer sings, SPARKLY AND EXTRAORDINARY.
Isadora swims underwater as a mermaid and transforms into a black cat. Text reads, “Series Director William Gordon. Showrunner Deborah Thorpe.”
The singer sings, YEAH, THAT'S ME, ISADORA WATCH ME BE.
Isadora flies around the show title and waves her wand. Text reads, “Isadora Moon. Based on the Isadora Moon books and characters by Harriet Muncaster.”
[Gentle, cheerful music plays]
The episode title reads, “Vampire Talent Show.” Outside the Moon family mansion, the sun shines bright. In the kitchen, Isadora leaps past the kitchen island stools and tiptoes past Pink Rabbit as she practices ballet. Pink Rabbit claps, and Isadora bows in front of the greenhouse doors.
Isadora says, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
The doors open. Bartholomew flies through and bumps into Isadora.
Bartholomew yelps, AH!
[Crashing]
Isadora says, OOPS. SORRY, DAD! I WAS JUST PRACTICING FOR TONIGHT'S VAMPIRE TALENT SHOW.
On the floor with a book on his head, Bartholomew smiles at Isadora.
Cordelia walks in and says, GOOD MORNING, DARLING. HOW WAS YOUR NIGHT FLIGHT?
Bartholomew stands and shares a kiss with Cordelia.
Bartholomew says, MWAH! VERY, VERY REFRESHING.
[Bartholomew chuckling]
Cordelia takes the book off Bartholomew’s head.
Bartholomew asks, SO, ISADORA, WHAT HAVE YOU DECIDED TO PERFORM, HM?
Isadora says, BALLET!
Isadora holds her hands over her head and dances across the kitchen.
Bartholomew says, BALLET?! FOR A VAMPIRE TALENT SHOW?
Bartholomew frowns.
Cordelia says, ISADORA IS A VERY TALENTED BALLET DANCER, DARLING.
Bartholomew says, OH NO, BUT OF COURSE SHE IS! IT'S JUST, BALLET ISN'T VERY, UH, VAMPIRE-Y?
Bartholomew scratches the back of his head. Cordelia frowns.
Isadora asks, DOES THAT MATTER?
Bartholomew says, WHEN I WAS A YOUNG VAMPIRE, I PERFORMED WITH MY WONDERFUL PET BAT, KARL. HE COULD DO ZE LOOP-ZE-LOOP, TRIPLE TWIST, AND EVEN-- GET THIS, FLY BACKWARDS!
Cordelia smiles. Pink Rabbit frowns and raises an eyebrow.
Cordelia says, ISADORA IS ALSO A FAIRY. I'M SURE THE AUDIENCE WILL BE JUST AS IMPRESSED WITH HER DANCING.
Bartholomew says, OH, YES, YES, OF COURSE! IT WILL BE AN EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY TO INTRODUCE EVERYONE TO SOMETHING, EH, NEW!
[Ringing]
Isadora says, OH, THE CRYSTAL BALL! I'LL GET IT!
Isadora flies out of the kitchen. Pink Rabbit follows her to a crystal ball on a stand in the entryway and hops onto a bench in the staircase.
[Ringing]
A cloud swirls inside the crystal ball and reveals Isadora’s vampire cousin, Amma.
[Whooshing]
Isadora says, AMMA!
Amma waves and says, HEY, ISADORA! I WANTED TO MAKE SURE YOU'RE STILL GOING TO BE IN THE TALENT SHOW TONIGHT.
Isadora says, OF COURSE!
Amma’s brother, Omari, rests his elbow on Amma’s head, and she frowns. Omari has short, curly black hair and wears a long, black and purple jacket with bat print on the purple fabric inside, and a skull belt buckle.
Omari says, HEY, ISADORA! I'M DOING THIS AMAZING FORMATION FLYING ROUTINE WITH MY FRIENDS FROM VAMPIRE SCHOOL!
Isadora says, WOW, OMARI, THAT SOUNDS FANTASTIC! I'M DOING BALLET.
Omari says, BALLET?! ISN'T THAT A BIT, FAIRY-ISH FOR A VAMPIRE TALENT SHOW?
Isadora says, WELL...
On the phone, Aunt Omi shouts, AMMA! OMARI! IT'S EIGHT O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING!
Amma and Omari frown.
Aunt Omi shouts, FINISH YOUR DINNER, AND THEN STRAIGHT TO BED!
[Amma and Omari groaning]
Amma and Omari say, YES, MOM.
Amma pushes Omari away and says, SEE YOU TONIGHT, ISADORA!
A cloud swirls inside the crystal ball, and the call ends.
[Whooshing]
Isadora says, HMM.
[Gentle music plays]
In a foggy forest, at night, the crescent moon shines brightly in the cloudy sky. Isadora, Bartholomew, and Cordelia fly to a large castle at the end of a bridge. Isadora carries Pink Rabbit, and Cordelia carries Honey Blossom. They land at the door and walk inside.
[Door creaking]
Inside, Isadora walks down a purple carpet in her black and purple tutu.
Isadora says, THE VAMPIRE TALENT SHOW IS HERE?!
Isadora pauses and looks around the large entryway. Amma stands at the top of a grand staircase with Aunt Omi.
Isadora says, WOW! IT'S SO BIG!
From close by, someone says, WELL-ELL-ELL!
[Isadora gasping]
A vampire with short grey hair wearing a black cape walks over to Isadora, with a vampire wearing her long grey hair in a bun, purple glasses, and a black and purple cape.
The short-haired vampire says, FANCY MEETING YOU HERE!
Isadora says, GRANNY! GRANDPA!
Isadora leaps into her grandparents’ arms.
[Grandpa chuckling]
Granny says, OH.
Isadora hovers beside her grandparents.
Grandpa says, OH, WE ARE SO EXCITED TO SEE YOUR PERFORMANCE!
Granny asks, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
Isadora says, I'M, ERM, DOING BALLET.
Granny and Grandpa frown.
Grandpa says, YOU'RE DOING A FAIRY DANCE AT A VAMPIRE SHOW?
Isadora lands on her feet.
Cordelia says, BALLET ISN'T JUST FOR FAIRIES!
Bartholomew says, AND AS YOU KNOW, ISADORA IS PARTICULARLY TALENTED.
Cordelia nods.
[Grandpa chuckling]
Grandpa says, OF COURSE! I WAS JUST SAYING THAT WHEN I WAS A VAMPIRELING, I PLAYED A SCARY SONG ON A GIANT PIPE ORGAN.
[Spooky organ music briefly plays]
Granny says, NO YOU DIDN'T, DEAR.
Grandpa frowns. Granny crouches toward Isadora.
Granny whispers, IT WAS ACTUALLY A PENNY WHISTLE.
[Penny whistle whistling]
[Isadora giggling]
Grandpa says, PENNY WHISTLE?!
Granny turns and Grandpa rants, I HAVE NEVER PLAYED A PENNY WHISTLE –
From the stairs, Amma shouts, ISADORA!
[Isadora gasping]
Grandpa continues, IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!
Amma runs down the stairs with her purple violin and waves.
Isadora shouts, AMMA! HI!
Isadora leaps into the air and flies over to Amma. Pink Rabbit runs down the purple carpet after her.
[Isadora and Amma giggling]
Isadora and Amma share a hug.
From nearby, Omari yells, DUCK!
[Isadora and Omari gasping]
Omari flies around the large space with his three vampire friends and swoops past Isadora and Amma. His friends skid to a stop on the carpet, and he lands behind them.
[Whooshing]
[Shoes squeaking]
Omari and his friends strike a pose and high-five. His friends include a boy with a green streak in his short black hair who wears a purple hooded sweater, a girl with wavy black hair who wears a blue headband and purple overalls, and a girl with a purple streak in her long black hair who wears a green dress with a purple skull belt.
Omari says, AWESOME!
The long-haired girl says, WE'RE GONNA BE THE STARS OF THE SHOW.
Isadora says, THAT WAS AMAZING!
The wavy-haired girl asks, WHAT'S YOUR TALENT, ISADORA?
Omari says, SHE'S DOING A FAIRY BALLET.
[Short-haired boy chuckling]
The short-haired boy says, FAIRY DANCING! FOR VAMPIRES?
Isadora says, UM...
Isadora looks embarrassed.
Amma says, I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR BALLET, ISADORA!
Isadora smiles.
[Short-haired boy chuckling]
The short-haired boy says, ME TOO!
Omari frowns. His friends fly away, and he follows.
[Isadora sighing]
Isadora asks, SO, WHAT ARE YOU PERFORMING, AMMA?
Amma says, I'M PLAYING A CREEPY TUNE ON MY VIOLIN.
Amma plays her violin.
[Violin screeching]
Pink Rabbit covers his ears.
Isadora says, WOW! MAYBE I SHOULD DO SOMETHING MORE VAMPIRE-Y AFTER ALL.
Isadora glances toward her family by the door.
Isadora says, DAD! I CHANGED MY MIND! I DON'T WANT TO DO BALLET IN THE TALENT SHOW!
Isadora flies across the room and lands in front of her parents with Pink Rabbit close behind.
Cordelia says, OH!
Cordelia and Bartholomew share a look.
Cordelia says, YOU WERE SO EXCITED ABOUT DANCING.
Isadora says, I WANT TO DO SOMETHING MORE, VAMPIRE-Y.
Grandpa says, NOW THAT SOUNDS LIKE AN EXCELLENT IDEA!
[Grandpa chuckling]
Grandpa asks, WHY DON'T YOU PLAY ON A PIPE ORGAN, LIKE ME?
Granny says, UH, YOU DIDN'T, DEAR.
Grandpa frowns.
Isadora says, DAD, I THOUGHT MAYBE I COULD DO AN ACT WITH A BAT. LIKE YOU DID.
[Grandpa gasping]
Grandpa says, YOU CAN PERFORM WITH RUTGER!
Granny and Bartholomew frown.
Granny and Bartholomew say, NOT RUTGER!
Cordelia glances at Bartholomew. Grandpa opens his cape, revealing Rutger, a sleeping elderly bat hanging upside down on his arm.
[Rutger softly snoring]
Grandpa says, GRANTED, HIS HEARING ISN'T WHAT IT ONCE WAS. BUT I TELL YOU, HE CAN STILL KEEP UP WITH THE BEST OF THEM!
[Grandpa chuckling]
Grandpa says, RUTGER!
[Rutger snorting]
Rutger jolts awake and falls from Grandpa’s arm onto the purple carpet.
[Thudding]
Isadora says, OH!
Rutger stands, revealing his grey beard and holes in his wings. Rutger gives his head a shake and flies away.
Grandpa says, GO ON, RUTGER! SHOW 'EM WHAT YOU GOT!
Rutger flies into a column.
[Banging]
[Rutger squeaking]
Grandpa says, I MEAN, HE'S NEVER HAD THE BEST SENSE OF DIRECTION...
[Grandpa chuckling]
Grandpa says, HERE, BOY!
Grandpa holds out his arm, and Rutger flies over him. Grandpa chases after Rutger. Granny looks embarrassed.
Grandpa says, RUTGER! RUTGER!
At the top of the stairs, Rutger flies around a door.
Isadora says, NO, RUTGER! I SAID FLY IN A CIRCLE!
Isadora stands by the door with Pink Rabbit, and they watch Rutger fly in a circle.
[Isadora gasping]
Isadora says, YES, THAT'S IT!
Rutger spins toward the floor.
Isadora says, HUH?
Rutger swoops toward Isadora and Pink Rabbit, who duck.
Isadora yelps, WHOA!
Rutger flies up a set of stairs toward a boy with dark purple hair sitting at the top.
Isadora shouts, NO!
[Rutger squeaking]
Rutger drops onto the blue-haired boy’s lap.
The blue-haired boy yelps, AH!
Rutger falls asleep.
[Rutger snoring]
Isadora says, UH-OH.
Isadora runs up the stairs and says, I'M SO SORRY!
[Rutger snoring]
Panting, Isadora says, I WAS TRYING TO TRAIN HIM FOR THE TALENT SHOW, BUT HE'S A BIT, UM.
Rutger remains asleep with his wings spread on the blue-haired boy’s lap.
[Rutger snoring]
The blue-haired boy smiles and suggests, TIRED?
[Isadora giggling]
Isadora says, YEAH. I'M ISADORA, BY THE WAY.
The blue-haired boy says, ELDRITCH!
Isadora asks, SO, WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR THE TALENT SHOW?
Eldritch, the blue-haired boy, says, OH, I'M NOT PERFORMING. I, I DON'T HAVE AN ACT.
Isadora says, I DON'T HAVE MUCH OF AN ACT EITHER.
Isadora takes a seat beside Eldritch with Pink Rabbit.
Isadora says, I WAS GOING TO DO BALLET –
Eldritch interrupts and loudly shouts, BALLET?!
[Rutger snorting]
Isadora and Eldritch freeze and look at Rutger.
Whispering, Eldritch says, I LOVE DOING BALLET!
[Isadora gasping]
Isadora says, I DIDN'T THINK VAMPIRES DID BALLET.
Eldritch says, OH, NO, THEY DON'T, MOSTLY. BUT I DO!
[Eldritch giggling nervously]
Eldritch says, TO BE HONEST, I'VE NEVER REALLY FELT THAT VAMPIRE-Y. I LOVE DOING BALLET!
Isadora says, ME TOO! MY DAD'S A VAMPIRE, BUT MY MOM'S A FAIRY.
Eldritch COOL! OH, AND BY THE WAY, I LOVE YOUR TUTU.
Isadora says, THANKS! CAN YOU SHOW ME SOME OF YOUR BALLET MOVES?
[Eldritch gasping]
Eldritch says, SURE!
Eldritch picks up Rutger and stands. At the top of the grand staircase, Eldritch and Isadora practice ballet moves. Rutger sleeps on a step beside Pink Rabbit.
[Gentle music plays]
[Eldritch grunting]
Eldritch and Isadora twirl. Eldritch poses with his arms raised. Pink Rabbit claps.
[Isadora giggling]
Isadora says, YOU'RE SO GOOD! YOU SHOULD DO BALLET FOR THE TALENT SHOW!
Eldritch says, WELL, HEY, MAYBE I COULD!
[Short-haired boy laughing]
The short-haired boy says, YOU'RE DOING BALLET TOO, ELDRITCH?!
Omari and his friends fly over to Isadora and Eldritch. The wavy-haired girl frowns.
Eldritch says, I'M NOT DOING BALLET!
Eldritch flies away.
Isadora says, ELDRITCH! WAIT!
Isadora flies after Eldritch.
Over a P.A. system, Aunt Omi announces, WELCOME ALL VAMPIRES! PLEASE, TAKE YOUR SEATS!
Omari and his friends smile and fly away. In a large auditorium, purple curtains open before a large audience. Aunt Omi stands on a stage in her long purple gown.
[Audience applauding]
Aunt Omi says, WELCOME TO THE 452ND ANNUAL YOUNG VAMPIRES TALENT SHOW!
[Applause continues]
In the audience, Bartholomew and Cordelia sit behind Granny and Grandpa with Honey Blossom.
Grandpa says, AND I'VE BEEN TO EVERY SINGLE ONE!
Aunt Omi says, NOW, FOR OUR FIRST ACT! HEMLOCK, AND HIS AMAZING SHAPE-SHIFTING ROUTINE!
Hemlock, a vampire boy with short black hair, walks onto the stage and waves. Aunt Omi leaves.
[Audience applauding]
Hemlock spins and shapeshifts into a frog.
[Frog croaking]
Hemlock shapeshifts into a bunny, and then a rock.
[Applause continues]
The rock, Hemlock, cracks in two.
[Audience gasping]
Cordelia covers Honey Blossom’s eyes. The split pieces of rock come together and spin, and Hemlock shapeshifts back into his regular self. He holds his head.
[Audience applauding and cheering]
Bartholomew says, WHOA-HO!
Cordelia lowers her hand from Honey Blossom’s eyes.
Bartholomew says, VERY IMPRESSIVE!
Backstage, Isadora holds the still-sleeping Rutger. Pink Rabbit stands beside her.
[Rutger softly snoring]
Isadora quietly says, AT LEAST NOBODY WILL THINK I'M NOT VAMPIRE-Y ENOUGH, WILL THEY, RUTGER?
Isadora glances at Rutger.
[Rutger snoring]
Pink Rabbit frowns and crosses his arms.
Isadora frowns and says, RUTGER! WAKE UP!
[Rutger snorting]
Rutger slowly wakes up and smiles sleepily at Isadora.
On stage, Aunt Omi says, NEXT UP, AMMA MOON!
[Audience applauding]
Amma walks onto the stage with her violin, and Aunt Omi steps away. Amma plays her violin.
[Screeching violin music plays]
Bartholomew cringes and says, UH...
[Screeching violin music continues]
Amma stops playing, spreads her arms and smiles. She takes a bow.
[Single audience member coughing]
Bartholomew says, AW.
[Audience applauding]
[Bartholomew chuckling]
[Cordelia giggling]
On stage, Aunt Omi says, NOW PUT YOUR HANDS TOGETHER FOR A FABULOUS FLYING QUARTET!
Aunt Omi steps away.
[Audience applauding and cheering]
Omari flies across the stage and over the audience with his friends.
[Whooshing]
Bartholomew says, OH!
Cordelia says, WOW!
Omari swoops toward the audience, and his friends skid to a stop in their finishing pose on the stage.
Omari cheers, WHOO-HOO!
[Shoes squeaking]
Omari lands on his feet behind his friends.
[Audience cheering and applauding]
Aunt Omi walks onto the stage, applauding.
[Aunt Omi clapping]
Aunt Omi says, AND TO ROUND UP OUR SHOW, ISADORA MOON!
[Audience applauding]
Backstage, Isadora takes a deep breath. With a sleepy expression, Rutger slowly blinks. Isadora steps toward the spotlight, and Pink Rabbit grabs her tutu.
Isadora whispers, PINK RABBIT, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!
Pink Rabbit holds his arms over his head and raises a foot in a ballet pose.
Isadora says, I KNOW YOU WANT ME TO DO BALLET, BUT IT'S JUST NOT VAMPIRE-Y ENOUGH.
Isadora steps into view on stage. Pink Rabbit looks disappointed.
[Audience applauding]
In the audience, Bartholomew says, AH! OH!
Cordelia cheers, YAY!
On centre stage, Isadora says, HELLO, EVERYBODY.
[Single audience member clearing their throat]
Isadora smiles awkwardly.
[Isadora gulping]
In the audience, Eldritch frowns.
Isadora says, UM…
Isadora glances toward Pink Rabbit, who brings his arms to his chest. Rutger sleeps in Isadora’s hands.
[Rutger softly snoring]
Isadora says, SO, I WAS GOING TO DO A PERFORMANCE WITH MY GRANDPA'S BAT.
Isadora holds out Rutger, and he jolts awake.
[Rutger snorting]
Rutger flies out of Isadora’s hands and away.
[Rutger squeaking]
Isadora says, BUT, ACTUALLY, THERE'S SOMETHING ELSE I REALLY LOVE DOING. AND SO DOES MY FRIEND, ELDRITCH.
[Eldritch gasping]
Isadora says, I THINK IT WOULD BE GREAT IF WE BOTH DID WHAT WE LIKE BEST, EVEN IF IT ISN'T VERY VAMPIRE-Y!
Isadora briefly lowers her gaze, then looks out at the audience.
Isadora says, ELDRITCH! WILL YOU COME AND DANCE WITH ME?
[Audience applauding]
Eldritch says, UH.
Eldritch nervously looks around and says, OKAY.
Eldritch flies out of his seat and joins Isadora on stage.
[Audience applauding and cheering]
Isadora says, LET'S GIVE THEM A SHOW THEY'LL NEVER FORGET!
Eldrich says, YEAH!
[Eldritch giggling]
Isadora and Eldritch take their starting poses.
[Drumroll]
[Gentle music plays]
Isadora and Eldritch perform ballet.
[Audience gasping in awe]
[Murmuring]
Isadora and Eldritch twirl and leap across the stage.
[Audience applauding and cheering]
Isadora and Eldritch leap past each other and spin around each other. They each bow, and the audience gives them a standing ovation.
[Audience applauding and cheering]
[Eldritch giggling]
Aunt Omi joins Isadora and Eldritch on stage.
Aunt Omi says, GOODNESS ME! WHAT A FANTASTIC AND QUITE REMARKABLE PERFORMANCE!
Eldrich says, THANK YOU, ISADORA. I WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN BRAVE ENOUGH TO DO THAT WITHOUT YOU.
Isadora says, AND THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME REMEMBER HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO BE WHO YOU ARE, AND DO WHAT YOU LOVE.
Eldritch says, WE SHOULD TOTALLY DO THIS AGAIN SOMETIME!
Isadora says, DEFINITELY.
In the entryway, Isadora flies down the grand staircase to her family. Pink Rabbit runs down after her. Amma and Eldritch stand at the top of the staircase. Omari and his friends stand in a corner nearby.
Grandpa says, OH, ISADORA! AMAZING!
At the same time, Granny says, OH, DARLING, YOU WERE WONDERFUL!
Grandpa and Granny hug Isadora.
Grandpa says, SEE, I TOLD YOU THAT BALLET WOULD BE A GREAT IDEA!
Granny says, THAT'S NOT WHAT YOU SAID, DEAR!
Grandpa frowns.
Cordelia says, WELL DONE, DARLING!
Bartholomew says, OH, I'M SO PROUD OF MY LITTLE FAIRY-VAMPIRE!
Bartholomew hugs Isadora.
[Bartholomew chuckling]
Bartholomew says, BALLET IS MUCH MORE YOU.
Isadora bows and says, THANKS, DAD!
Bartholomew takes Isadora’s hand and twirls her.
[Isadora giggling]
Pink Rabbit practices a ballet pose, and Cordelia smiles.
[Upbeat music plays]

The episode title reads, “Vampire Talent Show.” Outside the Moon family mansion, the sun shines bright. In the kitchen, Isadora leaps past the kitchen island stools and tiptoes past Pink Rabbit as she practices ballet. Pink Rabbit claps, and Isadora bows in front of the greenhouse doors.
Isadora says, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
The doors open. Bartholomew flies through and bumps into Isadora.
Bartholomew yelps, AH!
[Crashing]
Isadora says, OOPS. SORRY, DAD! I WAS JUST PRACTICING FOR TONIGHT'S VAMPIRE TALENT SHOW.
On the floor with a book on his head, Bartholomew smiles at Isadora.
Cordelia walks in and says, GOOD MORNING, DARLING. HOW WAS YOUR NIGHT FLIGHT?
Bartholomew stands and shares a kiss with Cordelia.
Bartholomew says, MWAH! VERY, VERY REFRESHING.
[Bartholomew chuckling]
Cordelia takes the book off Bartholomew’s head.
Bartholomew asks, SO, ISADORA, WHAT HAVE YOU DECIDED TO PERFORM, HM?
Isadora says, BALLET!
Isadora holds her hands over her head and dances across the kitchen.
Bartholomew says, BALLET?! FOR A VAMPIRE TALENT SHOW?
Bartholomew frowns.
Cordelia says, ISADORA IS A VERY TALENTED BALLET DANCER, DARLING.
Bartholomew says, OH NO, BUT OF COURSE SHE IS! IT'S JUST, BALLET ISN'T VERY, UH, VAMPIRE-Y?
Bartholomew scratches the back of his head. Cordelia frowns.
Isadora asks, DOES THAT MATTER?
Bartholomew says, WHEN I WAS A YOUNG VAMPIRE, I PERFORMED WITH MY WONDERFUL PET BAT, KARL. HE COULD DO ZE LOOP-ZE-LOOP, TRIPLE TWIST, AND EVEN-- GET THIS, FLY BACKWARDS!
Cordelia smiles. Pink Rabbit frowns and raises an eyebrow.
Cordelia says, ISADORA IS ALSO A FAIRY. I'M SURE THE AUDIENCE WILL BE JUST AS IMPRESSED WITH HER DANCING.
Bartholomew says, OH, YES, YES, OF COURSE! IT WILL BE AN EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY TO INTRODUCE EVERYONE TO SOMETHING, EH, NEW!
[Ringing]
Isadora says, OH, THE CRYSTAL BALL! I'LL GET IT!
Isadora flies out of the kitchen. Pink Rabbit follows her to a crystal ball on a stand in the entryway and hops onto a bench in the staircase.
[Ringing]
A cloud swirls inside the crystal ball and reveals Isadora’s vampire cousin, Amma.
[Whooshing]
Isadora says, AMMA!
Amma waves and says, HEY, ISADORA! I WANTED TO MAKE SURE YOU'RE STILL GOING TO BE IN THE TALENT SHOW TONIGHT.
Isadora says, OF COURSE!
Amma’s brother, Omari, rests his elbow on Amma’s head, and she frowns. Omari has short, curly black hair and wears a long, black and purple jacket with bat print on the purple fabric inside, and a skull belt buckle.
Omari says, HEY, ISADORA! I'M DOING THIS AMAZING FORMATION FLYING ROUTINE WITH MY FRIENDS FROM VAMPIRE SCHOOL!
Isadora says, WOW, OMARI, THAT SOUNDS FANTASTIC! I'M DOING BALLET.
Omari says, BALLET?! ISN'T THAT A BIT, FAIRY-ISH FOR A VAMPIRE TALENT SHOW?
Isadora says, WELL...
On the phone, Aunt Omi shouts, AMMA! OMARI! IT'S EIGHT O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING!
Amma and Omari frown.
Aunt Omi shouts, FINISH YOUR DINNER, AND THEN STRAIGHT TO BED!
[Amma and Omari groaning]
Amma and Omari say, YES, MOM.
Amma pushes Omari away and says, SEE YOU TONIGHT, ISADORA!
A cloud swirls inside the crystal ball, and the call ends.
[Whooshing]
Isadora says, HMM.
[Gentle music plays]
In a foggy forest, at night, the crescent moon shines brightly in the cloudy sky. Isadora, Bartholomew, and Cordelia fly to a large castle at the end of a bridge. Isadora carries Pink Rabbit, and Cordelia carries Honey Blossom. They land at the door and walk inside.
[Door creaking]
Inside, Isadora walks down a purple carpet in her black and purple tutu.
Isadora says, THE VAMPIRE TALENT SHOW IS HERE?!
Isadora pauses and looks around the large entryway. Amma stands at the top of a grand staircase with Aunt Omi.
Isadora says, WOW! IT'S SO BIG!
From close by, someone says, WELL-ELL-ELL!
[Isadora gasping]
A vampire with short grey hair wearing a black cape walks over to Isadora, with a vampire wearing her long grey hair in a bun, purple glasses, and a black and purple cape.
The short-haired vampire says, FANCY MEETING YOU HERE!
Isadora says, GRANNY! GRANDPA!
Isadora leaps into her grandparents’ arms.
[Grandpa chuckling]
Granny says, OH.
Isadora hovers beside her grandparents.
Grandpa says, OH, WE ARE SO EXCITED TO SEE YOUR PERFORMANCE!
Granny asks, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
Isadora says, I'M, ERM, DOING BALLET.
Granny and Grandpa frown.
Grandpa says, YOU'RE DOING A FAIRY DANCE AT A VAMPIRE SHOW?
Isadora lands on her feet.
Cordelia says, BALLET ISN'T JUST FOR FAIRIES!
Bartholomew says, AND AS YOU KNOW, ISADORA IS PARTICULARLY TALENTED.
Cordelia nods.
[Grandpa chuckling]
Grandpa says, OF COURSE! I WAS JUST SAYING THAT WHEN I WAS A VAMPIRELING, I PLAYED A SCARY SONG ON A GIANT PIPE ORGAN.
[Spooky organ music briefly plays]
Granny says, NO YOU DIDN'T, DEAR.
Grandpa frowns. Granny crouches toward Isadora.
Granny whispers, IT WAS ACTUALLY A PENNY WHISTLE.
[Penny whistle whistling]
[Isadora giggling]
Grandpa says, PENNY WHISTLE?!
Granny turns and Grandpa rants, I HAVE NEVER PLAYED A PENNY WHISTLE –
From the stairs, Amma shouts, ISADORA!
[Isadora gasping]
Grandpa continues, IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!
Amma runs down the stairs with her purple violin and waves.
Isadora shouts, AMMA! HI!
Isadora leaps into the air and flies over to Amma. Pink Rabbit runs down the purple carpet after her.
[Isadora and Amma giggling]
Isadora and Amma share a hug.
From nearby, Omari yells, DUCK!
[Isadora and Omari gasping]
Omari flies around the large space with his three vampire friends and swoops past Isadora and Amma. His friends skid to a stop on the carpet, and he lands behind them.
[Whooshing]
[Shoes squeaking]
Omari and his friends strike a pose and high-five. His friends include a boy with a green streak in his short black hair who wears a purple hooded sweater, a girl with wavy black hair who wears a blue headband and purple overalls, and a girl with a purple streak in her long black hair who wears a green dress with a purple skull belt.
Omari says, AWESOME!
The long-haired girl says, WE'RE GONNA BE THE STARS OF THE SHOW.
Isadora says, THAT WAS AMAZING!
The wavy-haired girl asks, WHAT'S YOUR TALENT, ISADORA?
Omari says, SHE'S DOING A FAIRY BALLET.
[Short-haired boy chuckling]
The short-haired boy says, FAIRY DANCING! FOR VAMPIRES?
Isadora says, UM...
Isadora looks embarrassed.
Amma says, I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR BALLET, ISADORA!
Isadora smiles.
[Short-haired boy chuckling]
The short-haired boy says, ME TOO!
Omari frowns. His friends fly away, and he follows.
[Isadora sighing]
Isadora asks, SO, WHAT ARE YOU PERFORMING, AMMA?
Amma says, I'M PLAYING A CREEPY TUNE ON MY VIOLIN.
Amma plays her violin.
[Violin screeching]
Pink Rabbit covers his ears.
Isadora says, WOW! MAYBE I SHOULD DO SOMETHING MORE VAMPIRE-Y AFTER ALL.
Isadora glances toward her family by the door.
Isadora says, DAD! I CHANGED MY MIND! I DON'T WANT TO DO BALLET IN THE TALENT SHOW!
Isadora flies across the room and lands in front of her parents with Pink Rabbit close behind.
Cordelia says, OH!
Cordelia and Bartholomew share a look.
Cordelia says, YOU WERE SO EXCITED ABOUT DANCING.
Isadora says, I WANT TO DO SOMETHING MORE, VAMPIRE-Y.
Grandpa says, NOW THAT SOUNDS LIKE AN EXCELLENT IDEA!
[Grandpa chuckling]
Grandpa asks, WHY DON'T YOU PLAY ON A PIPE ORGAN, LIKE ME?
Granny says, UH, YOU DIDN'T, DEAR.
Grandpa frowns.
Isadora says, DAD, I THOUGHT MAYBE I COULD DO AN ACT WITH A BAT. LIKE YOU DID.
[Grandpa gasping]
Grandpa says, YOU CAN PERFORM WITH RUTGER!
Granny and Bartholomew frown.
Granny and Bartholomew say, NOT RUTGER!
Cordelia glances at Bartholomew. Grandpa opens his cape, revealing Rutger, a sleeping elderly bat hanging upside down on his arm.
[Rutger softly snoring]
Grandpa says, GRANTED, HIS HEARING ISN'T WHAT IT ONCE WAS. BUT I TELL YOU, HE CAN STILL KEEP UP WITH THE BEST OF THEM!
[Grandpa chuckling]
Grandpa says, RUTGER!
[Rutger snorting]
Rutger jolts awake and falls from Grandpa’s arm onto the purple carpet.
[Thudding]
Isadora says, OH!
Rutger stands, revealing his grey beard and holes in his wings. Rutger gives his head a shake and flies away.
Grandpa says, GO ON, RUTGER! SHOW 'EM WHAT YOU GOT!
Rutger flies into a column.
[Banging]
[Rutger squeaking]
Grandpa says, I MEAN, HE'S NEVER HAD THE BEST SENSE OF DIRECTION...
[Grandpa chuckling]
Grandpa says, HERE, BOY!
Grandpa holds out his arm, and Rutger flies over him. Grandpa chases after Rutger. Granny looks embarrassed.
Grandpa says, RUTGER! RUTGER!
At the top of the stairs, Rutger flies around a door.
Isadora says, NO, RUTGER! I SAID FLY IN A CIRCLE!
Isadora stands by the door with Pink Rabbit, and they watch Rutger fly in a circle.
[Isadora gasping]
Isadora says, YES, THAT'S IT!
Rutger spins toward the floor.
Isadora says, HUH?
Rutger swoops toward Isadora and Pink Rabbit, who duck.
Isadora yelps, WHOA!
Rutger flies up a set of stairs toward a boy with dark purple hair sitting at the top.
Isadora shouts, NO!
[Rutger squeaking]
Rutger drops onto the blue-haired boy’s lap.
The blue-haired boy yelps, AH!
Rutger falls asleep.
[Rutger snoring]
Isadora says, UH-OH.
Isadora runs up the stairs and says, I'M SO SORRY!
[Rutger snoring]
Panting, Isadora says, I WAS TRYING TO TRAIN HIM FOR THE TALENT SHOW, BUT HE'S A BIT, UM.
Rutger remains asleep with his wings spread on the blue-haired boy’s lap.
[Rutger snoring]
The blue-haired boy smiles and suggests, TIRED?
[Isadora giggling]
Isadora says, YEAH. I'M ISADORA, BY THE WAY.
The blue-haired boy says, ELDRITCH!
Isadora asks, SO, WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR THE TALENT SHOW?
Eldritch, the blue-haired boy, says, OH, I'M NOT PERFORMING. I, I DON'T HAVE AN ACT.
Isadora says, I DON'T HAVE MUCH OF AN ACT EITHER.
Isadora takes a seat beside Eldritch with Pink Rabbit.
Isadora says, I WAS GOING TO DO BALLET –
Eldritch interrupts and loudly shouts, BALLET?!
[Rutger snorting]
Isadora and Eldritch freeze and look at Rutger.
Whispering, Eldritch says, I LOVE DOING BALLET!
[Isadora gasping]
Isadora says, I DIDN'T THINK VAMPIRES DID BALLET.
Eldritch says, OH, NO, THEY DON'T, MOSTLY. BUT I DO!
[Eldritch giggling nervously]
Eldritch says, TO BE HONEST, I'VE NEVER REALLY FELT THAT VAMPIRE-Y. I LOVE DOING BALLET!
Isadora says, ME TOO! MY DAD'S A VAMPIRE, BUT MY MOM'S A FAIRY.
Eldritch COOL! OH, AND BY THE WAY, I LOVE YOUR TUTU.
Isadora says, THANKS! CAN YOU SHOW ME SOME OF YOUR BALLET MOVES?
[Eldritch gasping]
Eldritch says, SURE!
Eldritch picks up Rutger and stands. At the top of the grand staircase, Eldritch and Isadora practice ballet moves. Rutger sleeps on a step beside Pink Rabbit.
[Gentle music plays]
[Eldritch grunting]
Eldritch and Isadora twirl. Eldritch poses with his arms raised. Pink Rabbit claps.
[Isadora giggling]
Isadora says, YOU'RE SO GOOD! YOU SHOULD DO BALLET FOR THE TALENT SHOW!
Eldritch says, WELL, HEY, MAYBE I COULD!
[Short-haired boy laughing]
The short-haired boy says, YOU'RE DOING BALLET TOO, ELDRITCH?!
Omari and his friends fly over to Isadora and Eldritch. The wavy-haired girl frowns.
Eldritch says, I'M NOT DOING BALLET!
Eldritch flies away.
Isadora says, ELDRITCH! WAIT!
Isadora flies after Eldritch.
Over a P.A. system, Aunt Omi announces, WELCOME ALL VAMPIRES! PLEASE, TAKE YOUR SEATS!
Omari and his friends smile and fly away. In a large auditorium, purple curtains open before a large audience. Aunt Omi stands on a stage in her long purple gown.
[Audience applauding]
Aunt Omi says, WELCOME TO THE 452ND ANNUAL YOUNG VAMPIRES TALENT SHOW!
[Applause continues]
In the audience, Bartholomew and Cordelia sit behind Granny and Grandpa with Honey Blossom.
Grandpa says, AND I'VE BEEN TO EVERY SINGLE ONE!
Aunt Omi says, NOW, FOR OUR FIRST ACT! HEMLOCK, AND HIS AMAZING SHAPE-SHIFTING ROUTINE!
Hemlock, a vampire boy with short black hair, walks onto the stage and waves. Aunt Omi leaves.
[Audience applauding]
Hemlock spins and shapeshifts into a frog.
[Frog croaking]
Hemlock shapeshifts into a bunny, and then a rock.
[Applause continues]
The rock, Hemlock, cracks in two.
[Audience gasping]
Cordelia covers Honey Blossom’s eyes. The split pieces of rock come together and spin, and Hemlock shapeshifts back into his regular self. He holds his head.
[Audience applauding and cheering]
Bartholomew says, WHOA-HO!
Cordelia lowers her hand from Honey Blossom’s eyes.
Bartholomew says, VERY IMPRESSIVE!
Backstage, Isadora holds the still-sleeping Rutger. Pink Rabbit stands beside her.
[Rutger softly snoring]
Isadora quietly says, AT LEAST NOBODY WILL THINK I'M NOT VAMPIRE-Y ENOUGH, WILL THEY, RUTGER?
Isadora glances at Rutger.
[Rutger snoring]
Pink Rabbit frowns and crosses his arms.
Isadora frowns and says, RUTGER! WAKE UP!
[Rutger snorting]
Rutger slowly wakes up and smiles sleepily at Isadora.
On stage, Aunt Omi says, NEXT UP, AMMA MOON!
[Audience applauding]
Amma walks onto the stage with her violin, and Aunt Omi steps away. Amma plays her violin.
[Screeching violin music plays]
Bartholomew cringes and says, UH...
[Screeching violin music continues]
Amma stops playing, spreads her arms and smiles. She takes a bow.
[Single audience member coughing]
Bartholomew says, AW.
[Audience applauding]
[Bartholomew chuckling]
[Cordelia giggling]
On stage, Aunt Omi says, NOW PUT YOUR HANDS TOGETHER FOR A FABULOUS FLYING QUARTET!
Aunt Omi steps away.
[Audience applauding and cheering]
Omari flies across the stage and over the audience with his friends.
[Whooshing]
Bartholomew says, OH!
Cordelia says, WOW!
Omari swoops toward the audience, and his friends skid to a stop in their finishing pose on the stage.
Omari cheers, WHOO-HOO!
[Shoes squeaking]
Omari lands on his feet behind his friends.
[Audience cheering and applauding]
Aunt Omi walks onto the stage, applauding.
[Aunt Omi clapping]
Aunt Omi says, AND TO ROUND UP OUR SHOW, ISADORA MOON!
[Audience applauding]
Backstage, Isadora takes a deep breath. With a sleepy expression, Rutger slowly blinks. Isadora steps toward the spotlight, and Pink Rabbit grabs her tutu.
Isadora whispers, PINK RABBIT, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!
Pink Rabbit holds his arms over his head and raises a foot in a ballet pose.
Isadora says, I KNOW YOU WANT ME TO DO BALLET, BUT IT'S JUST NOT VAMPIRE-Y ENOUGH.
Isadora steps into view on stage. Pink Rabbit looks disappointed.
[Audience applauding]
In the audience, Bartholomew says, AH! OH!
Cordelia cheers, YAY!
On centre stage, Isadora says, HELLO, EVERYBODY.
[Single audience member clearing their throat]
Isadora smiles awkwardly.
[Isadora gulping]
In the audience, Eldritch frowns.
Isadora says, UM…
Isadora glances toward Pink Rabbit, who brings his arms to his chest. Rutger sleeps in Isadora’s hands.
[Rutger softly snoring]
Isadora says, SO, I WAS GOING TO DO A PERFORMANCE WITH MY GRANDPA'S BAT.
Isadora holds out Rutger, and he jolts awake.
[Rutger snorting]
Rutger flies out of Isadora’s hands and away.
[Rutger squeaking]
Isadora says, BUT, ACTUALLY, THERE'S SOMETHING ELSE I REALLY LOVE DOING. AND SO DOES MY FRIEND, ELDRITCH.
[Eldritch gasping]
Isadora says, I THINK IT WOULD BE GREAT IF WE BOTH DID WHAT WE LIKE BEST, EVEN IF IT ISN'T VERY VAMPIRE-Y!
Isadora briefly lowers her gaze, then looks out at the audience.
Isadora says, ELDRITCH! WILL YOU COME AND DANCE WITH ME?
[Audience applauding]
Eldritch says, UH.
Eldritch nervously looks around and says, OKAY.
Eldritch flies out of his seat and joins Isadora on stage.
[Audience applauding and cheering]
Isadora says, LET'S GIVE THEM A SHOW THEY'LL NEVER FORGET!
Eldrich says, YEAH!
[Eldritch giggling]
Isadora and Eldritch take their starting poses.
[Drumroll]
[Gentle music plays]
Isadora and Eldritch perform ballet.
[Audience gasping in awe]
[Murmuring]
Isadora and Eldritch twirl and leap across the stage.
[Audience applauding and cheering]
Isadora and Eldritch leap past each other and spin around each other. They each bow, and the audience gives them a standing ovation.
[Audience applauding and cheering]
[Eldritch giggling]
Aunt Omi joins Isadora and Eldritch on stage.
Aunt Omi says, GOODNESS ME! WHAT A FANTASTIC AND QUITE REMARKABLE PERFORMANCE!
Eldrich says, THANK YOU, ISADORA. I WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN BRAVE ENOUGH TO DO THAT WITHOUT YOU.
Isadora says, AND THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME REMEMBER HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO BE WHO YOU ARE, AND DO WHAT YOU LOVE.
Eldritch says, WE SHOULD TOTALLY DO THIS AGAIN SOMETIME!
Isadora says, DEFINITELY.
In the entryway, Isadora flies down the grand staircase to her family. Pink Rabbit runs down after her. Amma and Eldritch stand at the top of the staircase. Omari and his friends stand in a corner nearby.
Grandpa says, OH, ISADORA! AMAZING!
At the same time, Granny says, OH, DARLING, YOU WERE WONDERFUL!
Grandpa and Granny hug Isadora.
Grandpa says, SEE, I TOLD YOU THAT BALLET WOULD BE A GREAT IDEA!
Granny says, THAT'S NOT WHAT YOU SAID, DEAR!
Grandpa frowns.
Cordelia says, WELL DONE, DARLING!
Bartholomew says, OH, I'M SO PROUD OF MY LITTLE FAIRY-VAMPIRE!
Bartholomew hugs Isadora.
[Bartholomew chuckling]
Bartholomew says, BALLET IS MUCH MORE YOU.
Isadora bows and says, THANKS, DAD!
Bartholomew takes Isadora’s hand and twirls her.
[Isadora giggling]
Pink Rabbit practices a ballet pose, and Cordelia smiles.
[Upbeat music plays]
