[Children laugh]
POUNCE: Tiring yourself out by swimming against a rip.
[Children laugh]
POUNCE: Panicking.
[Spyke shrieking]
POUNCE: What are you doing?
SPYKE: Oh, sorry. I thought they were instructions.
POUNCE: No, those are things not to do.
SPYKE: Oh. Whoops.
DESCRIPTION: Sandy calls Spyke over to her.
SANDY: Hey, Spyke! About the comedy routine… I think it's helping you learn. And you're not the only one.
DESCRIPTION: Sandy gestures to the other children, who are miming Spyke’s jokes.
[Children laughing]
SANDY: I've got an idea.
SPYKE: Mm?
DESCRIPTION: A little while later, Neville, Gemma, Frizzy, and Pounce help Spyke perform a theatre routine in front of Philippa, Sammy, Dougie, and Wei. The cadets hold up two blue cardboard pieces and move them like waves.
SPYKE: G'day, gang!
[Children giggling]
SPYKE: I think I'll go for a swim in this calm bit of water with no waves.
DESCRIPTION: Spyke hops between the theatre waves and pretends to start drowning.
SPYKE: Oh, no! It's pulling me away from the beach. Ah! Ah! Ah!
[Laughter]
SPYKE: Why is it doing that?
SAMMY: It's a rip.
DOUGIE: Don't swim against it.
WEI: Stay calm. Float!
PHILIPPA: Call helpies!
POUNCE: Correct. You all just passed basic water safety training. How exciting!
[All cheer]
SANDY: And to celebrate, we've got a special surprise for you all.
SPYKE: Oh, wow!
[All exclaim]
DESCRIPTION: A little while later, Sandy, the cadets, and the other children all gather by the river.
SANDY: Our friends Shelley and Darren wanted to congratulate you.
DESCRIPTION: Two dolphins jump through the water.
[All exclaim]
SPYKE: Best day ever!
DESCRIPTION: The cadets each take a friend on their rescue board, and they paddle into the river.
EVERYONE: Yay! Whoa-ho! Whoo!
SPYKE: I knew it! This bush kid IS a beach kid.
[Laughter]
DESCRIPTION: Everyone paddles over to the dolphins.
[Dolphin squeaks]
GEMMA: I'll show you how to say hello.
[Gemma mimics dolphin squeaks]
[The dolphin squeaks]
SPYKE: Let me try.
[Spyke squeaks off-puttingly]
DESCRIPTION: The dolphin turns around and splashes Spyke in the face with her tail.
SPYKE: Hey! What was that for? You just called her a flaming fish face.
[Laughter]
[Kangaroo Beach Theme music]
SINGERS: We're here all summer, it just gets funner! Let's hop down to…Kangaroo Beach!
