[Upbeat music]

DESCRIPTION: Two brothers open the front door of their home. The older brother, Nikhil, has brown hair and wears a red hooded sweater with a dinosaur emblem. The younger brother, Jay, has brown hair and wears a blue-and-green sweater.

NIKHIL: Hi, I'm Nikhil.

JAY: And I'm Jay!

NIKHIL: Here's a little story about where our family's from.

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil pulls down a map. Illustrations of their mother, Amma, and their father, Appa, appear. Amma has brown hair and wears orange glasses. Appa has brown hair and a brown beard.

[singing]

BROTHERS: It starts in South India with Amma, our mom. She caught a plane to England and met our dad, Appa!

DESCRIPTION: Appa and Amma dance side by side while Appa holds a cup of tea. Amma wears a blue top with orange pants. Appa wears a red quarter-zip sweater and blue pants.

[singing]

BROTHERS: She loves to dance, and he makes the best cuppa!

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay dance together and with their parents.

[singing]

BROTHERS: Oh! And then we came along. Oh! And this is our song. Oh-oh, Nikhil and Jay! Oh-oh Nikhil and Jay!

[singing]

JAY: Nikhil likes… Missions!

[singing]

NIKHIL: Jay likes… Being loud!

[singing]

BROTHERS: We both love to dream!

DESCRIPTION: Miniature versions of Nikhil and Jay play on a carrom board. The brothers fly through the sky in a rocket ship.

[singing]

BROTHERS: We can shoot a carrom pocket! Yeah, or blast off in a rocket! We make the greatest team.

NIKHIL: Wait.

JAY: What!?

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay hold up a tablet, displaying a video call with their grandparents, Ammamma and Thatha. Ammamma is wearing an orange-and-blue sari, and Thatha is wearing a beige shirt, with glasses hanging around his neck. Behind Nikhil and Jay are their other set of grandparents, Jim and Nana. Jim has gray hair and wears a green shirt. He is holding a plate of food. Nana has gray hair and wears a yellow high-visibility jacket. She is holding a crossing guard sign.

[singing]

BROTHERS: There's Ammamma and Thatha! And Jim and Nana! And don't forget Max the cat!

DESCRIPTION: An orange cat licks his paw. The whole family dances together.

[Max meowing]

[singing]

FAMILY: Oh-oh, Nikhil and Jay! Oh-oh, Nikhil and Jay, Oh-oh, Nikhil and Jay, Oh-oh, Nikhil and Jay!

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay sit together at the dining table. They are painting on easels with paintbrushes, and paint splatters across the table. Max paws at a paint tube.

[Laughing]

DESCRIPTION: Appa dances around the living room while cleaning. Amma leans down next to Nikhil and Jay and looks at their paintings. Nikhil and Jay have each painted Max.

[Muttering]

[Meowing]

[Humming cheerfully]

AMMA: Hm.

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil paints a smile on his Max portrait. Max frowns.

[Meowing]

AMMA: Wow! It's like an art gallery in here.

[Jay laughing]

JAY: Yes!

[Laughing]

JAY: I'm going to hang this up!

[Appa gasps]

DESCRIPTION: Appa’s eyes widen, and he abruptly stops cleaning.

APPA: No! Not yet! You'll make a big mess!

JAY: Huh?

DESCRIPTION: Paint drips from Jay’s painting. Appa leaps forward, but trips on the carpet and falls. The paint lands on his face.

APPA: Argh! Oh! Ah! Oof.

[Appa chuckling]

[Nikhil laughing]

NIKHIL: Appa, you made a big mess!

[Brothers laughing]

DESCRIPTION: Jay and Nikhil reach for a roll of pink fabric.

AMMA: [Unclear], not with paint on your hands! You two need a bath.

BROTHERS: Oh no! Not a bath!

AMMA: Oh?

[Tablet video call ringing]

[Brothers gasp]

BROTHERS: Ammamma's calling!

[Tablet video call ringing]

AMMA: Oh! Anyone seen my tablet?

[Ringing]

APPA: I can hear it...

[Ringing]

APPA: I can't see anything in this place.

[Ringing]

[Jay gasps]

JAY: Ooh, I know!

[Ringing]

JAY: Come on!

NIKHIL: Yeah!

DESCRIPTION: Jay and Nikhil run to the kitchen, where bananas are stacked in a pink basket. The brothers remove all the bananas, and Jay pulls out the tablet from the bottom of the basket.

[Ringing]

JAY: Found it!

NIKHIL: Yes!

DESCRIPTION: The family gathers around the tablet.

[Ringing and beeping]

DESCRIPTION: The video call screen is entirely orange.

AMMAMMA: Hello? Hello?!

[Brothers gasping]

JAY: Ammamma's turned into an orange blob!

NIKHIL: Ammamma, you're too close!

DESCRIPTION: Ammamma backs away from the camera. She is holding a mango, and Thatha is standing behind her, partway out of frame.

AMMAMMA: Aiyo, sorry.

THATHA: Hello! Hello?!

[Brothers laughing]

NIKHIL: Thatha, we can only see your tummy!

THATHA: Aiyo! Can you see me now?

BROTHERS: Hello! Hello, Thatha!

AMMAMMA: Look what I've got.

[Brothers gasping]

AMMAMMA: The first mango of the season from [Unclear]!

DESCRIPTION: Thatha sniffs the mango and smiles.

[Thatha sniffing]

THATHA: Ah! It smells yummy and ripe.

BROTHERS: Wow...

AMMAMMA: It's golden like a Chennai sunset, and fits perfectly in my palm.

AMMA: Mm... The perfect mango.

[Amma gasping]

AMMA: Remember the song, Ammamma?

DESCRIPTION: Amma and Ammamma sing together.

AMMA AND AMMAMMA [singing]: Chew with the skin, let the sweet juice flow. From fingertips, to your elbow!

[Everyone laughing]

DESCRIPTION: Thatha takes a big bite of the mango. Juice gets all over his arm, and Ammamma hands him a handkerchief.

NIKHIL: Huh?

JAY: But that's not how we eat mangoes.

DESCRIPTION: Ammamma and Thatha’s eyes widen, and they step closer to the camera.

[Ammamma and Thatha gasp]

AMMAMMA AND THATHA: Huh?! What do you mean?

AMMA: Now I remove the skin.

[Ammamma and Thatha gasp]

AMMAMMA: Aiyo-yo. But that has all the goodness, no!

AMMA: Then I chop it into cubes...

BROTHERS: ...and we eat it with a fork!

THATHA: A fork?! But why?!

AMMA: No mess, no fuss.

AMMAMMA: No mess?! You?! You used to be the messiest mango eater in our family!

BROTHERS: What?!

DESCRIPTION: Amma smiles as everyone looks at her.

AMMA: Eh. What can I say?

[Brothers laughing]

JAY: Mm. Juicy! Messy! Mango-y thing!

DESCRIPTION: Jay dreams of a mango tree.

[Dream chiming]

JAY: Huh?

[Jay gasping]

JAY: Mango! Ah! Yeah!

[Jay laughing]

DESCRIPTION: Jay shakes the tree trunk until all the mangos fall.

[Wobbling]

[Jay gasping]

DESCRIPTION: A huge pile of mangos surrounds Jay. He takes a big bite of one, and mango juice runs everywhere.

JAY: Whoa…

[Mangos thumping around Jay]

JAY: Wow! Whee! Yay!

[Jay laughing]

[Munching and splashing]

DESCRIPTION: A mango with a face and a smile jumps out of the mango pile. It puts a mango-coloured crown on Jay’s head.

[Jay laughing]

JAY: Whee! Yay!

DESCRIPTION: Jay’s dream ends. He is wearing the pink banana basket on his head. His family stands around him, smiling.

[Jay laughing]

JAY: I crown myself the messiest mango eater ever, ever, ever!

[Jay laughing]

[Family laughing]

JAY: Yah!

DESCRIPTION: With a bright smile, Amma snatches the basket from Jay’s head and crowns herself.

AMMA: Ha!

[Jay gasps]

AMMA: You'll never be as messy a mango eater as I was! Ha, ha, ha!

DESCRIPTION: Appa turns to Ammamma and Thatha on the video call.

APPA: Look what you've started now.

[Ammamma and Thatha chuckling]

[Laughing]

AMMAMMA: I have to go, ah, my mangoes are waiting. Appuram panpom. Bye!

BROTHERS: Bye!

[The video call beeping]

DESCRIPTION: The family ends the video call.

Whee!

[Brothers laughing]

DESCRIPTION: Jay and Nikhil march around the kitchen in a line. Max follows.

JAY [singing]: I'm the messiest mango eater in the land! I'm the messiest mango eater!

[Max purring]

JAY [singing]: In the land!

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil bumps into Jay.

NIKHIL: Oof!

[Brothers laughing]

DESCRIPTION: Suddenly, Jay’s eyes widen.

[Jay gasps]

JAY: Wait a mango minute! How can I be the messiest mango eater if I don't have a mango?!

DESCRIPTION: Jay picks up the pink basket and yells into it.

JAY: Oh no! No mangoes!

DESCRIPTION: Jay looks up at Amma.

JAY: Please can we go and get some mangoes so I can be the messiest mango eater ever, ever, ever?! Please?!

[Amma laughing]

AMMA: Let's do it.

JAY: Yeah!

APPA [in a sing-song voice]: As soon as we tidy up!

JAY: Okay.

DESCRIPTION: Jay grabs Nikhil’s hand.

JAY: Dhobi, dhobi, Nikhil! Let's tidy quickly! I need a mango!

[Upbeat music]

DESCRIPTION: Jay and Nikhil grab paint tubes, brushes, and cups, and put them away.

[Brothers laughing]

JAY: Done!

DESCRIPTION: Appa and Amma look at the dining table where the brothers were painting.

APPA: Hm.

AMMA: Hm.

APPA: Uh...

AMMA: Uh…

DESCRIPTION: Amma and Appa poke Jay and point at the dining table. The table is still covered in paint supplies. Jay and Nikhil sheepishly look at the mess.

[Jay laughs nervously]

JAY: Eh, how can I tidy when all I can think of is eating a mango?!

DESCRIPTION: Amma smiles and puts her arm around Jay.

JAY: I have an idea. You won't even notice you're tidying.

DESCRIPTION: Appa grabs a broom and sings to himself.

[Humming cheerfully]

AMMA: Hit it, boys! Let's dance this place tidy.

[Everyone laughing]

APPA: Whoo-hoo!

[Upbeat music]

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil, Jay, Amma, and Appa dance together as they clean the house. Appa uses the mop as an electric guitar, Amma bounces the bananas back into the basket, and Jay and Nikhil sweep away the paint supplies into a box. The family tosses the paint supplies box back and forth and into the cabinet.

[Laughing]

ALL: Ha-ah!

[Meowing]

ALL: Yay!

[Whistling]

DESCRIPTION: The family dances together.

ALL: Hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo! Yes!

JAY: Now can we go and get our mangoes, so I can be the messiest mango eater ever, ever, ever?!

[Amma and Appa laughing]

DESCRIPTION: Amma and Appa nod.

JAY: Yes!

NIKHIL: Mission messy mango-y thing is...go, go, go!

DESCRIPTION: Later that day, Amma, Appa, Nikhil, and Jay are at Mr. Awan’s shop. It is an outdoor market with produce, spices, jarred food, and more. Jay finds the mango display.

[Chiming]

JAY: Ah! Mangoes!

[Angelic choir singing]

JAY: Wow…

NIKHIL: Wait!

[Jay gasping]

NIKHIL: We need to find the perfect mango! Hm… How do I find the perfect mango?

DESCRIPTION: In Nikhil’s daydreams, he is under a spotlight. Mangos float around him.

NIKHIL: Yeah! Does it smell ripe?

[Nikhil sniffing a mango]

NIKHIL: Yeah!

[Laughing]

NIKHIL: Is it like the Chennai sunset?

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil dreams of a yellow-and-orange sun that transforms into a mango. Nikhil holds it in his hand.

NIKHIL: Does it fit in my palm?

DESCRIPTION: In reality, Nikhil is holding a mango in Mr. Awan’s produce shop.

NIKHIL: Actually, this is the perfect mango.

JAY: Wow! Thanks, Nikhil.

DESCRIPTION: Jay hugs Nikhil.

JAY: Now can you find me a million! No, wait. A mango-illion more perfect mangoes, please!

DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan holds up a purple basket full of mangos.

MR. AWAN: Ah, not quite a mango-illion, but it's a dozen of my finest.

APPA: Thanks, mate!

MR. AWAN: You're welcome.

APPA: Hey, I don't suppose they're of the drip-free variety, are they?

[Mr. Awan laughing]

DESCRIPTION: Jay looks up at Appa and Mr. Awan with a frown.

JAY: But I want to be the messiest mango eater in all the land!

[Mr. Awan laughing]

MR. AWAN: No… These are the messiest mangoes going.

DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan smiles and winks at the brothers. Appa smiles at him.

APPA: Really? Uh-oh...

[Appa laughing]

JAY: Thank you, Mr. Awan!

DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan gives Appa the basket of mangos. Jay takes a mango and goes to eat it.

[Jay laughing]

JAY: Yes!

DESCRIPTION: Appa stops Jay before he can take a bite of the mango.

APPA: Un-uh-uh! Not here! Wait 'til we get home!

AMMA: Let's go, go, go!

DESCRIPTION: Amma, Appa, Jay, and Nikhil form a line and dance out of the shop.

[Chanting]

FAMILY: Mango, mango, mango!

MR. AWAN: See ya!

FAMILY: Mango, mango, mango! Mango, mango, mango!

DESCRIPTION: After the family leaves, Mr. Awan continues to chant.

MR. AWAN: Mango, mango, mango! Mango, mango, mango! Mango, ma--

DESCRIPTION: Back at their house, Amma, Nikhil, and Jay sit together at the dining table. The basket of mangos is on the table.

AMMA: Hands washed, mangoes washed. Ready?

JAY: Yes!

NIKHIL: Yes!

DESCRIPTION: Appa interrupts them before they can eat the mangos.

APPA: Not here! I've just cleaned the floor! And you two need a bath.

JAY: Hm.

AMMA: Hm.

[Jay gasps]

JAY: Follow me!

DESCRIPTION: Jay grabs the mango basket and runs through the house. Amma follows.

AMMA: Oh. Whoo-hoo! Zoom.

DESCRIPTION: Appa and Nikhil look at each other and shrug.

NIKHIL AND APPA: Uh...

[Appa and Nikhil laugh]

DESCRIPTION: Appa and Nikhil follow Amma and Jay. They find Amma and Jay sitting in the empty bathtub, holding their mangoes.

APPA: Huh? I thought you didn't want a bath?!

JAY: Only if it's a mango bath!

[Everyone laughing]

NIKHIL: Wah-hoo!

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil jumps into the bathtub with Amma and Jay.

APPA: Oh.

[Everyone laughing]

DESCRIPTION: Appa steps into the bathtub and joins the rest of his family.

APPA: Ah, well, there we go.

[Everyone laughing]

JAY: I'm going to be the messiest mango eater ever, ever, ever!

[Amma growling]

AMMA: Let's see about that.

DESCRIPTION: Amma and Jay face each other. They each take bites of their mangoes. Juice flies everywhere and covers their faces.

[Splashing and munching]

[Laughing]

AMMA: Ha, ha, ha!

[Laughing]

[Splashing and munching]

AMMA: Mm-mm!

[Intense competition music]

[Amma growling]

DESCRIPTION: Amma and Jay continue their competition. On the other side of the bathtub, Nikhil and Appa are sitting with only a small amount of mango juice on their faces.

NIKHIL: Uh…

DESCRIPTION: Jay and Amma continue to eat mangoes messily.

[Splashing and munching]

[Laughing]

JAY: Mango!

[Splashing and munching]

DESCRIPTION: Jay’s entire face, both hands, his sleeves, and his neck are all covered in mango juice

AMMA: Oh, okay, okay… You win.

NIKHIL: Mm. Yummy in my tummy!

DESCRIPTION: The whole family sits together and eats their mangoes.

[Laughing]

[Splashing and munching]

[Upbeat music]

DESCRIPTION: Jay sits in the bathtub, legs crossed. He smiles.

[Jay gulping and sighing]

JAY: Mm! Oh, that was worth the wait!

NIKHIL: This is the best way to eat mangoes...

JAY: ...ever, ever, ever!

[Laughing]

DESCRIPTION: Amma picks up the tablet.

AMMA: Okay! Let's show Ammamma there's a new messiest mango eater in the family.

[Ringing and beeping]

AMMAMMA: Heh? Hey, cuties!

THATHA: Hello, everyone!

[Laughing]

AMMA: Hello!

DESCRIPTION: Amma flips around the camera to show Nikhil and Jay, who are covered in mango juice.

[Laughing]

BROTHERS: Hello, Ammamma and Thatha!

JAY: Look! Look! I'm the messiest mango eater!

[Thatha laughing]

THATHA: You're even messier than your Amma.

BROTHERS: Yay! Yay!

[Laughing]

DESCRIPTION: Later, Appa carries a big plate full of mango seeds back to the kitchen.

[Chanting]

APPA: Mango, mango, mango! Mango, mango, mango! Mango, mango, man--

DESCRIPTION: A seed falls from the plate, and Appa slips on it. He falls, knocking over the carrom board. All the mango seeds land on the ground.

APPA: Whoa! Ah!

[Crashing]

[Groaning]

APPA: Oops. I made a big mess.

[Chuckling]

[Upbeat music]
