[Upbeat introduction music]

DESCRIPTION: In animation, a boy with short brown hair, Nikhil, opens the front door of a townhouse. Nikhil wears a red hooded pullover sweater. His younger brother, Jay, jumps up to the door. Jay has short brown hair and wears a purple long-sleeved shirt with a green collar and green cuffs.

NIKHIL: Hi, I'm Nikhil!

JAY: And I'm Jay!

NIKHIL: Here's a little story about where our family's from.

[Song] Hey!

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil pulls down a map. Illustrations of their mother, Amma, and their father, Appa, appear. Amma has chin-length brown hair and wears orange glasses. Appa has short brown hair and a thick brown beard.

NIKHIL AND JAY SINGING: It starts in South India with Amma, our mom. She caught a plane to England and met our dad, Appa!

[Song] Hey!

DESCRIPTION: Appa and Amma dance side by side while Appa holds a cup of tea. Amma wears a blue top with orange pants. Appa wears a red quarter-zip sweater and blue pants.

NIKHIL AND JAY SINGING: She loves to dance, and he makes the best cuppa!

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay dance together and with their parents.

[Song] Oh!

NIKHIL AND JAY SINGING: And then we came along.

[Song] Oh!

NIKHIL AND JAY SINGING: And this is our song!

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay dance with Amma and Appa.

EVERYONE SINGING: Oh-oh, Nikhil and Jay! Oh-oh, Nikhil and Jay!

[Jay giggling]

JAY: Nikhil likes…

NIKHIL: Missions! Jay likes…

JAY: Being loud!

NIKHIL AND JAY SINGING: We both love to dream!

DESCRIPTION: Miniature versions of Nikhil and Jay play on a carrom board. The brothers fly through the sky in a rocket ship.

JAY SINGING: We can shoot a carrom pocket!

NIKHIL SINGING: Yeah, or blast off in a rocket!

NIKHIL AND JAY SINGING: We make the greatest team!

NIKHIL: Wait.

JAY: What!?

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay hold up a tablet, displaying a video call with their grandparents, Ammamma and Thatha. Ammamma has long black hair and wears an orange-and-blue sari. Thatha has short grey hair and wears a beige shirt with glasses around his neck.

NIKHIL: There's Ammamma and Thatha!

DESCRIPTION: Behind Nikhil and Jay are their other set of grandparents, Jim and Nana. Jim has short grey hair and wears a green collared shirt. He holds a plate of food. Nana has short grey hair and wears a yellow high-visibility jacket. She holds a crossing guard sign.

JAY: And Jim and Nana!

NIKHIL: And don't forget Max the cat!

DESCRIPTION: A tabby cat, Max, licks his paw. Everyone dances.

[Max meowing]

EVERYONE SINGING: Oh-oh, Nikhil and Jay! Oh-oh, Nikhil and Jay, Oh-oh, Nikhil and Jay, Oh-oh, Nikhil and Jay!

[Nikhil and Jay giggling]

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil reads out the episode title.

[Gentle music plays]

DESCRIPTION: In the backyard, Max sleeps. Her ear twitches.

[Max softly snoring]

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil stands in front of Max, facing Jay, with a soccer ball between them.

NIKHIL: Hm...

JAY: Hm.

[Whistle blowing]

DESCRIPTION: Jay kicks the ball and runs toward Nikhil. Nikhil spreads his arms.

[Crowd cheering]

[Appa yelping]

NIKHIL: Huh?

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil looks to his left. Jay kicks the ball past Nikhil, and it soars into a bush behind Max. Max jolts awake.

[Max meowing]

DESCRIPTION: Max runs away.

JAY: Goal!

[Celebratory music plays]

[Jay giggling]

[Appa muttering]

JAY: Huh?

DESCRIPTION: Jay follows Nikhil’s gaze.

NIKHIL AND JAY: Uh..

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay watch Appa dance.

[Appa muttering]

NIKHIL: What's he doing?!

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay walk over to Appa as Appa swings his arms around.

[Jay giggling]

JAY: I like your warm-ups, Appa!

DESCRIPTION: Appa stops dancing. He looks at Nikhil and scratches the back of his head.

JAY: Do you want to play football with us?

APPA: Oh, I'd love to, but I'm, erm... I'm organizing a surprise for Amma!

JAY: Yay! I love surprises! What's it for?

APPA: Our anniversary! Well...

[Appa chuckling]

APPA: An anniversary.

JAY: Huh. Anna… an-an-versary?

[Appa chuckling]

APPA: Well, yes. Today's the anniversary of our very first date.

NIKHIL AND JAY: Huh?!

APPA: You see, on this day, many, many years ago, your Amma and I went out together for the very first time! Ah, it was the best! Good food, great music, we danced for hours.

DESCRIPTION: Appa dances around Nikhil and Jay.

[Dance music plays]

[Appa singing to himself]

[Nikhil and Jay giggling]

DESCRIPTION: Appa stops dancing.

[Appa sighing]

APPA: I'll never forget it. So I've organized a surprise, to celebrate!

[Nikhil and Jay gasping]

JAY: What is it?! Tell us! Tell us!

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay jump on the spot.

APPA: I… I can't. I've said too much already, Jay.

NIKHIL: Uh...

JAY: Hm.

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil looks back and forth between Jay and Appa.

JAY: Huh? What do you mean?

APPA AND NIKIL: Uh...

NIKIL: Jay, you're sort of a surprise buster-outerer.

DESCRIPTION: Appa nods.

[Jay gasping]

JAY: Hey!

NIKIL: Remember when you told Nana where Jim hid her Easter egg?

[Appa chuckling]

DESCRIPTION: In a flashback, Jim watches Nana search their living room.

[Jim giggling]

DESCRIPTION: Jay pops up from behind the couch with an Easter Egg.

[Nana gasping]

JAY: Here it is!

[Jim groaning]

NIKIL IN THE PRESENT: And what we got Max for her birthday?

APPA: Hm.

DESCRIPTION: Appa shakes his head. In a flashback, Max reaches for a gift with her paw.

[Max meowing]

[Jay gasping]

[Max meowing]

DESCRIPTION: Jay unwraps the gift, a toy fish.

[Jay giggling]

[Max meowing]

DESCRIPTION: Max flicks her tail. In the present, Jay scratches the back of his head.

JAY: Oh, yeah. Whoops.

APPA: There is one way you could help.

[Nikhil and Jay gasping]

NIKIL: What is it, Appa?!

JAY: We'll do anything!

APPA: Okay. Your mission is...

[Nikil and Jay gasping]

APPA: ...keep Amma out of the garden. Can I count on you?

[Nikil and Jay giggling]

NIKIL: Mission Keep Amma Inside is... go-go-go!

DESCRIPTION: In the living room, Amma puts her last carrom disc on the carrom board.

AMMA: Okay... perfect.

DESCRIPTION: Nikil runs in with Jay. Jay bumps into Nikil as Nikil skids to a stop.

AMMA: Ooh!

[Tires squealing]

NIKIL: Oh. Hi, Amma.

JAY: Good to see you! Uh... inside.

DESCRIPTION: Nikil and Jay smile.

AMMA: Okay... Great to see you "inside" too.

[Amma laughing]

AMMA: I was just getting this ready to play Appa.

DESCRIPTION: Amma gets up from her spot on the floor.

NIKIL AND JAY: Uh...

[Nikil and Jay gasping]

DESCRIPTION: Nikil and Jay block Amma.

NIKIL AND JAY: Wait, wait, wait!

AMMA: Huh?

[Amma laughing]

AMMA: What on earth are you two up to?

JAY: Appa's –

NIKIL: Rrr.

DESCRIPTION: Jay covers his mouth.

[Nikil groaning]

DESCRIPTION: Jay bites his lip.

JAY: Hm...

[Jay groaning]

AMMA: Hmm.

[Jay panting]

JAY: Appa's –

DESCRIPTION: Nikil puts his hand over Jay’s mouth.

NIKIL: Appa's too busy to play carrom. But, we can play.

DESCRIPTION: Nikil lowers his hand. Jay smiles and nods.

AMMA: Okay... Sure!

DESCRIPTION: Nikil looks at Jay, and Jay winks.

AMMA: Ooh! But I left my scorebook in the shed.

[Nikil and Jay gasping]

NIKIL AND JAY: Wait!

JAY: Uh, I'll get it.

DESCRIPTION: Jay skips away.

[Nikil laughing awkwardly]

DESCRIPTION: Nikil rubs his arm. In the backyard, Max sleeps against a watering can full of flowers.

[Appa grunting]

DESCRIPTION: Appa steps beside Max, and Max wakes.

[Max meowing]

APPA MUTTERING: Did I put that there? Nope. Maybe I put that there.

DESCRIPTION: Max runs away.

[Max meowing]

DESCRIPTION: Jay runs out of the house and past Appa.

[Appa muttering]

DESCRIPTION: Jay stops and looks at Appa as Appa dances.

[Appa muttering]

APPA: Maybe a little wiggle there, and maybe a….

DESCRIPTION: Jay glances at Appa, then continues across the yard.

[Appa muttering]

DESCRIPTION: In the living room, Amma looks at Nikil. Nikil smiles awkwardly with his hands behind his back. Jay runs in with a sketchbook.

JAY: Here you go!

AMMA: Ooh!

[Amma laughing]

DESCRIPTION: Amma takes the sketchbook from Jay.

AMMA: Huh?

DESCRIPTION: A sketch shows Amma kissing Appa’s cheek. Another shows Nikil hugging Jay.

[Amma chuckling]

AMMA: No, Jay, my scorebook. Not my sketchbook!

[Amma laughing]

[Nikil and Jay laughing awkwardly]

AMMA: I'll get it.

NIKIL AND JAY SHOUTING: No!

AMMA: Right. Boys, what's going on?

[Nikil groaning]

[Jay gasping]

JAY: Appa…

DESCRIPTION: Nikil shakes his head.

NIKIL: Appa's making a surprise for you!

[Jay gasping]

NIKIL: Jay!

[Amma gasping]

JAY: Oops. Sorry.

AMMA: A surprise? Wait. For what? Hm...

DESCRIPTION: Amma taps her chin.

[Amma gasping]

AMMA: Our wedding anniversary?! No...

DESCRIPTION: A picture of Amma and Appa marks a date on a calendar. A picture beside the calendar shows Appa kneeling beside a sandcastle at the beach.

AMMA: The anniversary of Appa coming 11th in the sand castle competition? No... Uh...

[Amma gasping]

DESCRIPTION: A heart circles the picture of Amma and Appa on the calendar.

AMMA: The anniversary of our first date! Aiyo-yo! This is a disaster! I haven't got him anything!

NIKIL AND JAY: Uh...

[Nikil gasping]

NIKIL: How about you make him something!

[Amma gasping]

AMMA: Yes! But what could I make that he'd really love?

NIKIL: Hm...

DESCRIPTION: Nikil pulls out a cardboard tube. He looks around the room through the tube.

NIKIL: Appa loves...

DESCRIPTION: Nikil imagines Appa with a broom.

NIKIL: Cleaning...

DESCRIPTION: Nikil imagines Appa with paintbrushes.

NIKIL: Inventing...

DESCRIPTION: Nikil imagines Appa rocking out with an electric guitar.

NIKIL: Music-ing...

[Rock music plays]

NIKIL: Yorkshire pudding-ing!

DESCRIPTION: Nikil imagines Appa with a fork in each hand as Yorkshire pudding floats around him.

[Appa chuckling]

DESCRIPTION: In reality, Nikil lowers the cardboard tube.

NIKIL: Actually, Appa really loves Yorkshire puddings. You could make him a giant one with Nana's special gravy recipe!

AMMA: Yes… His favourite!

DESCRIPTION: Amma looks at Jay, and Jay nods.

[Jay giggling]

AMMA: Let's go!

DESCRIPTION: Nikil sneaks into the kitchen with Jay and Amma, and they duck down behind a counter. Nikil peeks out the window above the sink into the backyard.

[Nikil gasping]

DESCRIPTION: Jay and Amma follow Nikil to the sink. Nikil and Jay spot Appa dancing in the yard.

[Nikil and Jay gasping]

DESCRIPTION: Nikil and Jay block Amma’s view. They glance at each other and smile awkwardly.

[Appa muttering]

AMMA: Nice work, boys! Now, whatever you do, don't let Appa come anywhere near the house.

NIKIL: You can count on us!

JAY: Yeah!

AMMA: Right.

[Amma humming]

DESCRIPTION: Amma stands and pulls out a jar of flour. Nikil and Jay pull out large bowls and set them on the counter. Amma pours flour into the smaller bowl.

AMMA: Ooh. This Yorkshire pudding's going to be big enough to swim in!

[Jay gasping]

DESCRIPTION: Jay imagines himself swimming in a giant Yorkshire pudding, wearing inflatable armbands.

[Splashing]

DESCRIPTION: In Jay’s imagination, dolphins leap over Jay.

JAY: Huh?

[Dolphins clicking]

[Jay gasping]

JAY: Wow...

DESCRIPTION: Jay rides a dolphin across the Yorkshire pudding.

JAY: Whoo!

DESCRIPTION: Jay makes snow angels in the Yorkshire pudding.

JAY SIGHINIG: Ah...

[Jay giggling]

DESCRIPTION: The dolphins swim around Jay.

[Dolphins clicking]

[Jay giggling]

JAY: Whee-yeah!

[Dolphins clicking]

DESCRIPTION: In reality, Jay makes snow angels on the floor.

[Jay laughing]

JAY: Yay!

[Jay laughing]

DESCRIPTION: At the counter, Nikil holds the larger bowl steady as Amma stirs a mixture.

[Amma sighing]

AMMA: I have never understood gravy. Why is it always so lumpy?!

DESCRIPTION: Amma drops a spoonful of gravy into the bowl.

[Gravy splattering]

DESCRIPTION: Jay stands beside Amma.

JAY: That would be the dolphins.

[Dolphins clicking]

AMMA: Huh?

[Nikil giggling]

AMMA: Hm... I think this batter needs more flour?

JAY: Yay! Let's make the biggest Yorkshire pudding ever, ever, ever!

DESCRIPTION: Jay grabs the jar of flour.

[Amma chuckling]

[Amma sighing]

AMMA: Here it goes. Just a little…

DESCRIPTION: Amma helps Jay lift the jar of flour. Jay tips the jar, and flour spills out into the batter bowl.

JAY: Yeah!

AMMA: Aiyo, Jay!

DESCRIPTION: Amma pulls the jar away.

JAY: Whoops. Sorry!

[Amma sighing]

AMMA: I guess I'll have to add more of everything now.

[Amma gasping]

AMMA: And I've still got to set the table in my shed.

[Nikil and Jay gasping]

JAY: Your shed?!

AMMAL Yeah. I thought it would add to the surprise!

NIKIL: But... But... Your shed's in the garden!

[Amma laughing]

AMMA: I should hope so! That is where I left it.

NIKIL: We'll set the table for you, Amma.

JAY: Yeah!

DESCRIPTION: Nikil and Jay run to the door.

[Nikil and Jay laughing]

DESCRIPTION: Amma shrugs and continues stirring the gravy as Nikil and Jay run outside. In the garden, Nikil and Jay look around Amma’s shed. Stacks of take-out containers litter Amma’s table, and clothing designs cover the walls.

NIKIL: Hm... Wow! Amma is so messy!

JAY: Why does she need this?

DESCRIPTION: Jay picks up a tire and stumbles.

JAY: Uh! Ah!

DESCRIPTION: Nikil takes the tire from Jay.

NIKIL: I don't know. But we need to get rid of it, so we can set the table.

JAY: Okay!

DESCRIPTION: Jay pushes the take-out containers, a teddy bear, pictures of Amma and Appa, a tape recorder and raffle tickets off the table into a box. Nikil cringes and turns away.

[Nikil groaning]

DESCRIPTION: Nikil and Jay scrub the table clean with sponges. They carry everything outside and sneak past Appa.

[Appa singing to himself]

DESCRIPTION: Appa glances toward Nikil and Jay.

[Jay gasping]

APPA: Eh?

DESCRIPTION: Appa continues dancing.

[Appa muttering]

DESCRIPTION: Nikil and Jay run back toward the shed. Appa spots them, and they pause next to the shed.

APPA: Huh?

[Nikil whistling]

APPA: Hm...

DESCRIPTION: Appa shrugs and continues dancing. Nikil and Jay carry take-out containers out of the shed.

[Appa singing to himself]

[Nikil and Jay giggling]

APPA: Huh?

[Appa muttering]

DESCRIPTION: In the shed, Nikil and Jay set plates on the table. Appa walks in behind them.

[Nikil and Jay gasping]

DESCRIPTION: Nikil and Jay turn to face Appa.

APPA: Why is everything gone?! They were part of the surprise! All the things I kept from our first date!

NIKIL: Uh...

JAY: Don't worry! We'll fix it!

NIKIL: You can count on us!

DESCRIPTION: Nikil and Jay roll the tire to the shed. Inside, Amma searches a cupboard.

AMMA: Hm...

[Dishes clanking]

DESCRIPTION: In the shed, Appa sets the tire, teddy bear, a take-out container and raffle tickets on the table.

[Teddy bear squeaking]

DESCRIPTION: Nikil and Jay look worried.

NIKIL WHISPERING: Where are we going to set the table now?

JAY WHISPERING: The living room?

AMMA SHOUTING FROM THE HOUSE: Aiyo!

[Nikil and Jay gasping]

APPA: Huh?

AMMA SHOUTING: This is a disaster!

DESCRIPTION: Appa, Nikil and Jay peek out of the shed. In the kitchen, Yorkshire pudding spills out of the oven.

AMMA: No!

DESCRIPTION: Nikil and Jay run in. Appa follows with the tire over his shoulder.

[Amma gasping]

APPA: Huh? Wait! What is that thing breaking out of the oven?! Is it...

DESCRIPTION: Appa sniffs the air.

APPA: Is it a Yorkshire pudding?!

AMMA: It was.

NIKIL AND JAY: Uh... Surprise?

[Amam sighing]

AMMA: But now it's ruined.

[Appa sniffling]

DESCRIPTION: Appa hugs Amma tight.

AMMA: Oh!

APPA: I can't believe you were making me a giant Yorkshire pudding!

DESCRIPTION: Amma wraps her arms around Appa and smiles.

AMMA: Mm...

[Amma gasping]

AMMA: I remember this flat old thing.

NIKIL: What is it with the tire?

DESCRIPTION: Jay shrugs.

JAY: Eh.

APPA: It was part of my surprise. All the things I kept from our first date.

AMMA: Aw...

NIKIL: Sorry we tidied up your supplies, Appa.

JAY: And turned yours into a big blob, Amma.

AMMA: Hey, if it weren't for you two, I'd –

[Amma sighing]

AMMA: I'd have forgotten altogether.

[Amma and Appa laughing]

APPA: Well, our first date didn't go smoothly either! My tire burst, so we never made it to dinner. Or the band!

[Amma laughing]

AMMA: So we found a takeaway and danced to the car radio. See, even when things don't go to plan, we always have the best time!

DESCRIPTION: Nikil, Jay and Amma hug Appa.

NIKIL AND JAY: Aw...

APPA: Hm...

AMMA: I can't believe you kept this.

DESCRIPTION: Amma pats the tire.

APPA: Yeah! And I was also trying to relearn that funny dance we made up.

JAY: Oh! That's what all the...

DESCRIPTION: Jay imitates Appa’s dance.

[Jay muttering]

JAY: ...was about!

[Everyone laughing]

APPA: Yep. But I just can't remember what it was.

[Amma gasping]

AMMA: I can! Move-for-move!

DESCRIPTION: In the shed, Amma points to Nikil and Jay. Jay presses a button on a speaker. Colourful lights shine from a disco ball. Max sleeps at their feet.

AMMA: Hit it, boys!

[Dance music plays]

DESCRIPTION: Amma and Appa dance.

[Amma and Appa laughing]

DESCRIPTION: Max, Nikil, and Jay join Amma and Appa.

NIKIL: Yeah!

[Laughing]

NIKIL AND JAY CHEERING: Yeah!

[Max meowing]

DESCRIPTION: Max rubs herself against Appa’s leg, and Appa stumbles.

APPA: Ah…ah…

DESCRIPTION: Appa falls.

[Max mewing]

DESCRIPTION: Nikil and Jay fall on top of Appa. They knock a carrom board off the table, and Amma falls.

[Max meowing]

EVERYONE: Happy anniversary!

[Everyone laughing]

[Max meowing]

DESCRIPTION: Max jumps on Appa’s knee.

APPA: Oh!

DESCRIPTION: Max leaps off Appa’s knee.

APPA: Max!

[Gentle, upbeat music plays]
