NIKHIL: Here's a little story about where our family's from.

NIKHIL AND JAY SINGING: It starts in South India with Amma, our mom. She caught a plane to England and met our dad, Appa!

AMMA: And we got some wonderful presents. Oh, apart from that pink and purple teapot. Remember that?

DESCRIPTION: Jay travels in his cardboard time machine past clocks and watches.
JAY: Zoom! Yes!
DESCRIPTION: Jay slows to a stop and looks around a forest of roaming dinosaurs.
JAY: Huh? Oops. I must have gone back...
DESCRIPTION: Jay faces a wedding between two T. rex.
[T-rexes roaring]
JAY: ...too far.
DESCRIPTION: In reality, Jay shakes his head.
JAY: Uh… oh. Nope. Too dangerous.
NIKHIL: Well, you just have to get married again.
AMMA: Hmm.
JAY: Oh, yes. And this time, we could be there, too!
[Max meowing]
JAY: And Max!
[Amma giggling]
AMMA: I like your thinking, but a wedding takes a long time to plan, Chellams.
NIKHIL AND JAY: We'll plan it for today!
NIKHIL: Yeah. We'll take care of everything.
JAY: You just need to get ready!
NIKHIL: Come on. Let's go!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay push Amma and Appa across the room.

DESCRIPTION: Amma and Appa leave. Nikhil pulls out his notebook and pencil.
NIKHIL: This wedding will be even better than the first two!
JAY: The best wedding ever, ever, ever! Hmm. What actually happens at a wedding?
NIKHIL: Good question. I don't know, but I know who we could ask.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil looks at a picture of Nana and Jim in the photo album. Later, Nana and Jim sit on the living room couch.
JAY: Nana, Jim! We need your help to plan a wedding for Amma and Appa!
JIM: Huh?
NANA: Another wedding?
[Jim chuckling]
JIM: Oh, they've had two already.
JAY: Yeah, but we weren't there, so we're planning this one.
NIKHIL: And we need to know what happens. What was your wedding like?
NANA: Ours?
[Jim chuckling]
NANA: Oh, we're not married.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Eh?
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay frown.
JIM: Different people do things differently. Not everyone gets married.
NANA: What matters most is you promise to love and be kind to each other.
JIM: Exactly. Just like your Appa and Amma did in their wedding vows.
NIKHI: Vows?
JAY: Huh?
NIKHIL: What's a vow?
NANA: A vow is when you make a promise of things you're going to do.
[Nana gasping]
NANA: Amma and Appa could write new vows for their new wedding!
NIKHIL: Yes! But we said we'd plan everything. Hmm.
[Nikhil and Jay giggling]
DESCRIPTION: Later, notes and balls of paper lie scattered across the coffee table. Nikhil taps his pencil against his chin.
JAY: And we promise to let Nikhil and Jay stay up late on weekends.
JIM: Huh?
[Nikhil gasping]
NANA: Wha -
JAY: And Mondays, and also Wednesdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays too!
[Nana and Jim laughing]
JIM: Cracking vows, lads. Oh, the guests are going to love these.
[Jim laughing]
[Nikhil gasping]
NIKHIL AND JAY: Guests?
NIKHIL: Come on, Jay.
[Jay gasping]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run out of the room. Later, Max sits between Nikhil and Jay’s many plushies on the couch, including Nikhil’s armadillo plushie. Jay sets his monkey plushie on the other side of Max.
[Max meowing]
JAY: Please take your seats here.
JIM: Hello.
[Jim chuckling]
DESCRIPTION: Jim shakes the arm of a T. rex plushie.
JIM: Pleasure to meet you.
[Jim giggling]
JAY: Everybody people, welcome to Amma and Appa's wed -
NIKHIL: Jay!
JAY: Oh.
NIKHIL: Two very important guests are missing!
[Jay gasping]
JAY: Quick! Let's call them!
DESCRIPTION: On a video call, Ammamma and Thatha frown.
AMMAMMA: Huh? They're getting married again?
THATHA: Huh? How are we going to get to England today?
NIKHIL: You don't have to.
JAY: We'll carry you everywhere!
DESCRIPTION: Jay carries a tablet with Ammamma and Thatha’s video call into the living room. Nana and Jim sit on opposite sides of the couch with the plushies and Max. Jay turns the tablet to face them.
NANA AND JIM: Hello!
AMMAMMA AND THATHA: Hello!
AMMAMMA: How exciting. Now, remember. You must find a safe place for the wedding rings until the wedding takes place, huh?
[Jay gasping]
JAY: Rings?!
NIKHIL: Hmm. What could we use for rings?
DESCRIPTION: In his imagination, Nikhil eats Jalebi, a spiral-shaped food.
NIKHIL: Yum-yum-yum. Mmm. Jalebi. We need something less sticky and not too yummy.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil imagines a sprinkle donut.
[Water splashing]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil imagines a flamingo pool floaty.
[Floaty squeaking]
NIKHIL: ...and, uh, less wet.
[Party horn]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil imagines twirling wide plastic hoops around his waist and arms.
NIKHIL: Ha-ha!
DESCRIPTION: In reality, Nikhil looks at Jay.
NIKHIL: Actually, we could use our hula hoops for wedding rings!
JAY: Yeah!
DESCRIPTION: Later, Nikhil checks his notebook.
NIKHIL: Okay. Rings?
DESCRIPTION: Jay holds up two large hoops.
JAY: Check!
NIKHIL: Vows?
DESCRIPTION: Nana holds up two pieces of rolled-up paper with drawings of Amma and Appa.
NANA: Check!
NIKHIL: Guests.
THATHA: Check!
AMMAMMA: Decorations?
NIKHIL: Oh. Not yet!
DESCRIPTION: Jay grabs the tablet. In the hallway, Nikhil searches a cupboard under the stairs. Jay looks around.
NIKHIL: Um… Hmm.
[Jay gasping]
JAY: Nikhil, the bunting!
NIKHIL: Aha!
DESCRIPTION: Jay sets the tablet with Ammamma and Thatha’s video call on a shelf beside the pink and purple teapot and helps Nikhil pull a box of bunting off a higher shelf.
NIKHIL: Perfect. Come on, Jay!
JAY: Yay!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay carry the box out of the cupboard. The door closes behind them.
AMMAMAA AND THATHA: Hey! Come back. Don't leave us.
AMMAMMA: Wait. Is that the teapot we bought for their first wedding?
DESCRIPTION: In the living room, Jim tapes a drawing of hearts to the wall.
JIM: Oh, yes. Look at that.
NANA: Oh, smashing.
NIKHIL: Woo-hoo!
JAY: Yeah!
[Nikhil giggling]
JAY: Amma, Appa!
NIKHIL: It's time to get married!
NANA AND JIM: Aw.
DESCRIPTION: Amma walks down the stairs wearing an orange sari.
[Amma humming]
AMMAMMA: Hello?
AMMA: Huh?
THATHA: Anybody out there?
DESCRIPTION: Amma looks around.
AMMA: Huh. Hmm?
AMMAMMA AND THATHA: Nikhil? Jay? Banu?
AMMA: Uhh…
AMMA: Ammamma? Thatha? Are you here?
DESCRIPTION: Amma walks by the staircase.
AMMA: Hmm.
DESCRIPTION: Appa walks down the stairs wearing a blue kurta.
[Appa humming]
APPA: There we are.
THATHA: Hello?
AMMAMMA: Anyone?
APPA: Huh?
DESCRIPTION: Appa looks around.
APPA: Ammamma, Thatha, is that you?
DESCRIPTION: Appa looks out the front door.
APPA: Hmm.
AMMAMMA AND THATHA: In here! Come in here.
APPA: Oh.
DESCRIPTION: Appa walks back inside as Amma walks toward the door.
APPA AND AMMA: Where?
DESCRIPTION: Amma and Appa bump into each other.
AMMA AND APPA: Oops. Sorry.
AMMA: Can you hear my mum and dad?
APPA: Yeah.
AMMAMMA AND THATHA: We are in the cupboard!
AMMA AND APPA: Oh.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay peek into the hallway.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Whoops!
[Appa chuckling]
APPA: Oh, dear.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil grabs the tablet from the cupboard under the stairs.
NIKHIL: Sorry, Ammamma and Thatha. We didn't mean to forget you.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil turns the tablet toward Amma and Appa.
AMMAMMA: You look so beautiful, Banu.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil’s thumb slips onto the mute icon on the screen. Ammamma and Thatha continue talking.
JAY: Amma, Appa, wait here, please.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run toward the living room.
[Amma chuckling]
DESCRIPTION: Amma looks at Appa.
AMMA: I guess your old wedding suit must have shrunk in the wash.
APPA: Yep. Will this do?
AMMA: Wow. You look beautiful, my love.
DESCRIPTION: Amma presses a kiss to Appa’s cheek.

APPA: And I promise to always let Jay… eat the last dosa?
[Everyone laughing]
AMMA: Oh, Chellams.
NIKHIL: Time for the rings! Jay, where did we put them?
JAY: Huh? Uh…
DESCRIPTION: Jay pats his shirt.
[Jay gasping]
JAY: We've lost them!
DESCRIPTION: Jay crawls on the floor and looks under the couch.
JAY: Oh, no.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil looks under plushies on the couch and under the tablet. Ammamma and Thatha wave their hands.
NIKHIL: Oh, no! Now, we can't marry you.
JAY: We'll miss your wedding again.
[Thunder crashing]
AMMA AND APPA: Oh…
DESCRIPTION: Amma and Appa share a look.
AMMA: Um…
APPA: Oh, no.
NIKHIL: This was supposed to be the best wedding.
DESCRIPTION: Jim kneels beside Nikhil.
JIM: Well, maybe we don't need the rings. Remember, different people get married differently.
NANA: Or sometimes, not at all.
DESCRIPTION: Jim holds Nana’s hand.
[Nana and Jim laughing]
[Jay gasping]
DESCRIPTION: Amma holds Appa’s hand.
JAY: That's it! We could make our own wedding ring!
DESCRIPTION: Jay pulls Nikhil over to Amma and Appa and grabs Appa’s hand. Nikhil takes Jim’s hand, and Nana takes Amma’s hand. Ammamma and Thatha frantically wave their arms as Nana and Jim grab the tablet's sides. Max jumps on the coffee table between everyone as they form a circle.
[Max meowing]
NIKHIL: Amma, Appa, you are now...
JAY: ...wife and husband!
[Amma and Appa laughing]
DESCRIPTION: Amma and Appa share a kiss.
AMMA AND APPA: Mwah.
[Everyone cheering]
APPA: Well, thanks, everyone.
DESCRIPTION: Appa’s eyes fill with tears.
[Appa sniffling]
APPA: Thank you, boys. This is our best wedding yet.
DESCRIPTION: Appa blows his nose.
[Appa’s nose honking loudly]
AMMA: Definitely, because you're both here, too.
DESCRIPTION: Amma pulls Nikhil and Jay into her arms.

APPA: Yes, and you, Max.

AMMA: Ammamma, Thatha? You're a bit quiet.
DESCRIPTION: Amma looks at the table. On the video call, Ammamma and Thatha frantically wave their arms.

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil unmutes Ammamma and Thatha.
THATHA: We were trying to tell you we saw something in the cupboard!
AMMA: Uh-oh.
APPA: Ah…

DESCRIPTION: A wedding photo shows Appa in a blue suit and tie and Amma in a red dress with henna on her arms.
JAY: Wow. Amma, you look beautiful.
[Appa loudly clearing throat]
[Jay giggling]
JAY: You're beautiful too, Appa.
[Appa chuckling]
APPA: It was the best day of my life.
[Amma laughing]
AMMA: One of the best. This was our England wedding.
DESCRIPTION: Other photos feature Ammamma, Thatha, Nana and Jim.
AMMA: Then we had another one in India. Amma turns the page, revealing photos of Amma and Appa’s wedding in India with Ammamma, Thatha, Nana and Jim.
JAY: Whoa!
NIKHIL AND JAY: Wow.
APPA: Yeah.
AMMA: And we got some wonderful presents. Oh, apart from that pink and purple teapot. Remember that?
DESCRIPTION: In a photo, Ammamma and Thatha hand Amma and Appa a pink-and-purple teapot. Amma and Appa cringe. Amma wears an orange sari, and Appa wears a green sherwani. Lightning flashes.
[Thunder crashing]
[Appa shouting]

AMMA: Don't ever let my parents know we don't like it.
[Amma and Appa laughing]
NIKHIL: Hmm.
JAY: Hmm.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay narrow their gazes.
JAY: Uh…
NIKHIL AND JAY: Uh…
JAY: Where are we in the photos?
[Amma chuckling]
AMMA: Oh, this was before you two were born.
JAY: What?!
NIKHIL: So, you had two weddings, and we weren't invited to either of them?!
[Max meowing]
JAY: Or Max! I know! We could go back in time so we could be there, too.
DESCRIPTION: In Jay’s imagination, Jay sits in a cardboard box.
[Jay giggling]
JAY: Activate time machine!
DESCRIPTION: Jay presses buttons and turns a wheel in his cardboard time machine.
JAY: Bleep-ba-da-bloop da-la-bloop beep-beep-bloop. Yeah!
[Beeping]
[Jay laughing]
DESCRIPTION: Jay travels in his cardboard time machine past clocks and watches.
JAY: Zoom! Yes!
DESCRIPTION: Jay slows to a stop and looks around a forest of roaming dinosaurs.
JAY: Huh? Oops. I must have gone back...
DESCRIPTION: Jay faces a wedding between two T. rex.
[T-rexes roaring]
JAY: ...too far.
DESCRIPTION: In reality, Jay shakes his head.
JAY: Uh… oh. Nope. Too dangerous.
NIKHIL: Well, you just have to get married again.
AMMA: Hmm.
JAY: Oh, yes. And this time, we could be there, too!
[Max meowing]
JAY: And Max!
[Amma giggling]
AMMA: I like your thinking, but a wedding takes a long time to plan, Chellams.
NIKHIL AND JAY: We'll plan it for today!
NIKHIL: Yeah. We'll take care of everything.
JAY: You just need to get ready!
NIKHIL: Come on. Let's go!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay push Amma and Appa across the room.
[Appa chuckling]
APPA: Well, one more wedding might be fun. I think my suit still fits?
AMMA: Never thought I'd get married three times, and to the same person.
[Amma laughing]
APPA: Yep. You got lucky.
[Amma and Appa chuckling]
DESCRIPTION: Amma and Appa leave. Nikhil pulls out his notebook and pencil.
NIKHIL: This wedding will be even better than the first two!
JAY: The best wedding ever, ever, ever! Hmm. What actually happens at a wedding?
NIKHIL: Good question. I don't know, but I know who we could ask.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil looks at a picture of Nana and Jim in the photo album. Later, Nana and Jim sit on the living room couch.
JAY: Nana, Jim! We need your help to plan a wedding for Amma and Appa!
JIM: Huh?
NANA: Another wedding?
[Jim chuckling]
JIM: Oh, they've had two already.
JAY: Yeah, but we weren't there, so we're planning this one.
NIKHIL: And we need to know what happens. What was your wedding like?
NANA: Ours?
[Jim chuckling]
NANA: Oh, we're not married.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Eh?
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay frown.
JIM: Different people do things differently. Not everyone gets married.
NANA: What matters most is you promise to love and be kind to each other.
JIM: Exactly. Just like your Appa and Amma did in their wedding vows.
NIKHI: Vows?
JAY: Huh?
NIKHIL: What's a vow?
NANA: A vow is when you make a promise of things you're going to do.
[Nana gasping]
NANA: Amma and Appa could write new vows for their new wedding!
NIKHIL: Yes! But we said we'd plan everything. Hmm.
[Nikhil and Jay giggling]
DESCRIPTION: Later, notes and balls of paper lie scattered across the coffee table. Nikhil taps his pencil against his chin.
JAY: And we promise to let Nikhil and Jay stay up late on weekends.
JIM: Huh?
[Nikhil gasping]
NANA: Wha -
JAY: And Mondays, and also Wednesdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays too!
[Nana and Jim laughing]
JIM: Cracking vows, lads. Oh, the guests are going to love these.
[Jim laughing]
[Nikhil gasping]
NIKHIL AND JAY: Guests?
NIKHIL: Come on, Jay.
[Jay gasping]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run out of the room. Later, Max sits between Nikhil and Jay’s many plushies on the couch, including Nikhil’s armadillo plushie. Jay sets his monkey plushie on the other side of Max.
[Max meowing]
JAY: Please take your seats here.
JIM: Hello.
[Jim chuckling]
DESCRIPTION: Jim shakes the arm of a T. rex plushie.
JIM: Pleasure to meet you.
[Jim giggling]
JAY: Everybody people, welcome to Amma and Appa's wed -
NIKHIL: Jay!
JAY: Oh.
NIKHIL: Two very important guests are missing!
[Jay gasping]
JAY: Quick! Let's call them!
DESCRIPTION: On a video call, Ammamma and Thatha frown.
AMMAMMA: Huh? They're getting married again?
THATHA: Huh? How are we going to get to England today?
NIKHIL: You don't have to.
JAY: We'll carry you everywhere!
DESCRIPTION: Jay carries a tablet with Ammamma and Thatha’s video call into the living room. Nana and Jim sit on opposite sides of the couch with the plushies and Max. Jay turns the tablet to face them.
NANA AND JIM: Hello!
AMMAMMA AND THATHA: Hello!
AMMAMMA: How exciting. Now, remember. You must find a safe place for the wedding rings until the wedding takes place, huh?
[Jay gasping]
JAY: Rings?!
NIKHIL: Hmm. What could we use for rings?
DESCRIPTION: In his imagination, Nikhil eats Jalebi, a spiral-shaped food.
NIKHIL: Yum-yum-yum. Mmm. Jalebi. We need something less sticky and not too yummy.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil imagines a sprinkle donut.
[Water splashing]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil imagines a flamingo pool floaty.
[Floaty squeaking]
NIKHIL: ...and, uh, less wet.
[Party horn]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil imagines twirling wide plastic hoops around his waist and arms.
NIKHIL: Ha-ha!
DESCRIPTION: In reality, Nikhil looks at Jay.
NIKHIL: Actually, we could use our hula hoops for wedding rings!
JAY: Yeah!
DESCRIPTION: Later, Nikhil checks his notebook.
NIKHIL: Okay. Rings?
DESCRIPTION: Jay holds up two large hoops.
JAY: Check!
NIKHIL: Vows?
DESCRIPTION: Nana holds up two pieces of rolled-up paper with drawings of Amma and Appa.
NANA: Check!
NIKHIL: Guests.
THATHA: Check!
AMMAMMA: Decorations?
NIKHIL: Oh. Not yet!
DESCRIPTION: Jay grabs the tablet. In the hallway, Nikhil searches a cupboard under the stairs. Jay looks around.
NIKHIL: Um… Hmm.
[Jay gasping]
JAY: Nikhil, the bunting!
NIKHIL: Aha!
DESCRIPTION: Jay sets the tablet with Ammamma and Thatha’s video call on a shelf beside the pink and purple teapot and helps Nikhil pull a box of bunting off a higher shelf.
NIKHIL: Perfect. Come on, Jay!
JAY: Yay!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay carry the box out of the cupboard. The door closes behind them.
AMMAMAA AND THATHA: Hey! Come back. Don't leave us.
AMMAMMA: Wait. Is that the teapot we bought for their first wedding?
DESCRIPTION: In the living room, Jim tapes a drawing of hearts to the wall.
JIM: Oh, yes. Look at that.
NANA: Oh, smashing.
NIKHIL: Woo-hoo!
JAY: Yeah!
[Nikhil giggling]
JAY: Amma, Appa!
NIKHIL: It's time to get married!
NANA AND JIM: Aw.
DESCRIPTION: Amma walks down the stairs wearing an orange sari.
[Amma humming]
AMMAMMA: Hello?
AMMA: Huh?
THATHA: Anybody out there?
DESCRIPTION: Amma looks around.
AMMA: Huh. Hmm?
AMMAMMA AND THATHA: Nikhil? Jay? Banu?
AMMA: Uhh…
AMMA: Ammamma? Thatha? Are you here?
DESCRIPTION: Amma walks by the staircase.
AMMA: Hmm.
DESCRIPTION: Appa walks down the stairs wearing a blue kurta.
[Appa humming]
APPA: There we are.
THATHA: Hello?
AMMAMMA: Anyone?
APPA: Huh?
DESCRIPTION: Appa looks around.
APPA: Ammamma, Thatha, is that you?
DESCRIPTION: Appa looks out the front door.
APPA: Hmm.
AMMAMMA AND THATHA: In here! Come in here.
APPA: Oh.
DESCRIPTION: Appa walks back inside as Amma walks toward the door.
APPA AND AMMA: Where?
DESCRIPTION: Amma and Appa bump into each other.
AMMA AND APPA: Oops. Sorry.
AMMA: Can you hear my mum and dad?
APPA: Yeah.
AMMAMMA AND THATHA: We are in the cupboard!
AMMA AND APPA: Oh.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay peek into the hallway.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Whoops!
[Appa chuckling]
APPA: Oh, dear.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil grabs the tablet from the cupboard under the stairs.
NIKHIL: Sorry, Ammamma and Thatha. We didn't mean to forget you.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil turns the tablet toward Amma and Appa.
AMMAMMA: You look so beautiful, Banu.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil’s thumb slips onto the mute icon on the screen. Ammamma and Thatha continue talking.
JAY: Amma, Appa, wait here, please.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run toward the living room.
[Amma chuckling]
DESCRIPTION: Amma looks at Appa.
AMMA: I guess your old wedding suit must have shrunk in the wash.
APPA: Yep. Will this do?
AMMA: Wow. You look beautiful, my love.
DESCRIPTION: Amma presses a kiss to Appa’s cheek.
AMMA: Mwah. Will you marry me again?
APPA: Will I? Yeah. Go on, then.
DESCRIPTION: Appa wraps his arms around Amma.
[Amma chuckling]
DESCRIPTION: In the living room, Nikhil leans the tablet against Max. Ammamma and Thatha wave their hands.
[Max meowing]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil joins Jay and Appa in front of the fireplace.
NIKHIL: Let's go!
JAY: Okay.
DESCRIPTION: Jay presses a button on a speaker.
[Rock music blaring]
[Everyone shouting]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil, Appa and Jay cover their ears.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Uh…
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil presses a button on the speaker.
[Opera music playing]
JAY: Nuh-uh.
DESCRIPTION: Jay shakes his head and presses a button on the speaker.
[Rock music blaring]
NIKHIL: Nope.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil presses a button on the speaker.
[Soft orchestral music playing]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay shrug.
[Jay giggling]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay hold Amma’s hands and walk into the room.
APPA: Wow!
AMMA: Oh.
DESCRIPTION: Amma smiles.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Yeah!
DESCRIPTION: Ammamma and Thatha smile.
NANA AND JIM: Aww.
DESCRIPTION: Jim stands next to Nana. Nikhil and Jay sit on the couch opposite Nana. Amma and Apa read their vows.
AMMA: I promise to always let… Nikhil watch what he wants on T.V.?
[Nikhil and Jay giggling]
APPA: And I promise to always let Jay… eat the last dosa?
[Everyone laughing]
AMMA: Oh, Chellams.
NIKHIL: Time for the rings! Jay, where did we put them?
JAY: Huh? Uh…
DESCRIPTION: Jay pats his shirt.
[Jay gasping]
JAY: We've lost them!
DESCRIPTION: Jay crawls on the floor and looks under the couch.
JAY: Oh, no.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil looks under plushies on the couch and under the tablet. Ammamma and Thatha wave their hands.
NIKHIL: Oh, no! Now, we can't marry you.
JAY: We'll miss your wedding again.
[Thunder crashing]
AMMA AND APPA: Oh…
DESCRIPTION: Amma and Appa share a look.
AMMA: Um…
APPA: Oh, no.
NIKHIL: This was supposed to be the best wedding.
DESCRIPTION: Jim kneels beside Nikhil.
JIM: Well, maybe we don't need the rings. Remember, different people get married differently.
NANA: Or sometimes, not at all.
DESCRIPTION: Jim holds Nana’s hand.
[Nana and Jim laughing]
[Jay gasping]
DESCRIPTION: Amma holds Appa’s hand.
JAY: That's it! We could make our own wedding ring!
DESCRIPTION: Jay pulls Nikhil over to Amma and Appa and grabs Appa’s hand. Nikhil takes Jim’s hand, and Nana takes Amma’s hand. Ammamma and Thatha frantically wave their arms as Nana and Jim grab the tablet's sides. Max jumps on the coffee table between everyone as they form a circle.
[Max meowing]
NIKHIL: Amma, Appa, you are now...
JAY: ...wife and husband!
[Amma and Appa laughing]
DESCRIPTION: Amma and Appa share a kiss.
AMMA AND APPA: Mwah.
[Everyone cheering]
APPA: Well, thanks, everyone.
DESCRIPTION: Appa’s eyes fill with tears.
[Appa sniffling]
APPA: Thank you, boys. This is our best wedding yet.
DESCRIPTION: Appa blows his nose.
[Appa’s nose honking loudly]
AMMA: Definitely, because you're both here, too.
DESCRIPTION: Amma pulls Nikhil and Jay into her arms.
[Appa crying]
[Max meowing]
APPA: Yes, and you, Max.
[Max meowing]
AMMA: Ammamma, Thatha? You're a bit quiet.
DESCRIPTION: Amma looks at the table. On the video call, Ammamma and Thatha frantically wave their arms.
NIKHIL: Oops. You're on mute. Sorry.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil unmutes Ammamma and Thatha.
THATHA: We were trying to tell you we saw something in the cupboard!
AMMA: Uh-oh.
APPA: Ah…
AMMAMMA: The rings!
NIKHIL AND JAY: Oh!
APPA: Phew.
AMMA SIGHING: Ah.
AMMAMMA: And that lovely teapot we got you.
[Amma and Appa laughing nervously]
[Nikhil and Jay giggling]
DESCRIPTION: Later, Amma and Appa dance and twirl the plastic hoops around their waists.
[Disco music playing]
AMMA: Every wedding should have hula-hoop dancing! Oh, beautifully done, Chellams.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Yes!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay fist-bump.
NIKHIL: Now that we are expert wedding planners, we need to plan the next one.
JAY: I know! Let's marry Nana and Jim!
JIM: Eh?
DESCRIPTION: Jim frowns.
NANA: No. Not a chance.
[Nana sighing]
NANA: I'm getting out of here!
DESCRIPTION: Nana gets up from the couch and runs away. Nikhil and Jay chase her.
[Nikhil and Jay giggling]
DESCRIPTION: Nana runs by the coffee table. She trips, knocks over a carrom board, and falls.
NANA: Whoa!
[Nana giggling]
NANA: I'm okay.
[Everyone laughing]
